Coaching Website FAQ: 15 Questions and Sample Answers

“What should I put in my coaching website FAQ so discovery calls stop turning into a tour of my policies?”

Start with the decisions a prospective client needs to make: whether your coaching fits their situation, what they are buying, what participation requires, and what happens if plans change. Answer directly, using the same facts as your offer and agreement. An FAQ should help someone make an informed choice, not hide the awkward details until they book.

Below are 15 coaching website FAQ questions with complete sample answers. They cover a hypothetical career-coaching practice, followed by notes on what to change. The example offer is invented to show how clear copy works. Its session counts, response times and policies are not Coachful terms, industry standards or legal recommendations.

Choose the questions that belong on your page

You do not need all 15 questions in one enormous block. Start with the questions a suitable prospect asks repeatedly, plus any answer that could change their decision to buy. For many practices, that means fit, format, commitment, price, between-session support and cancellations.

Put essential facts in the main offer description as well. A visitor should not have to open an accordion to discover the total cost or that a “coaching program” contains no live sessions. Use the FAQ to explain conditions and resolve uncertainty, not to bury the actual offer.

If you are unsure which questions matter, our guide to turning discovery-call questions into website content explains how to collect and prioritize them. This article is the next task: writing answers you can adapt and publish.

Fit and scope: sample coaching FAQ answers

1. Who is your coaching for?

Sample answer: “I work with mid-career professionals who want to make a considered career move but are unsure which direction to choose. Our work focuses on identifying priorities, exploring realistic options and planning actions you can test. You do not need a finished career plan before we start.”

Adapt it: Name a recognizable person and situation, rather than promising to help “anyone ready for transformation.” Add the practical exclusions that matter to your practice. An executive coach might specify whether they work with newly promoted managers, senior leaders or employer-sponsored participants. Do not add a niche or qualification merely because it sounds attractive.

2. What happens during a coaching session?

Sample answer: “We agree what would make the session useful, explore the situation you bring, and identify a next step you want to take. I may ask questions, reflect patterns I notice or offer an exercise with your agreement. You decide which actions to pursue; I do not make career decisions for you.”

Adapt it: Describe the experience someone is actually purchasing. If your service also includes CV editing, training or consulting, distinguish those activities from coaching. Do not imply that every coach works identically, or that the session follows a rigid script when it does not.

3. Is coaching the same as therapy?

Sample answer: “No. This service focuses on your career decisions and the actions you choose to take. I do not diagnose or treat mental-health conditions, provide crisis support or replace care from a qualified healthcare professional. If your needs are outside my coaching scope, we will discuss an appropriate next step rather than continue on the wrong basis.”

Adapt it: State your own scope accurately. Avoid the misleading shortcut that therapy is about the past while coaching is about the future. If you hold more than one professional role, explain which service this particular offer provides and keep its agreements and boundaries clear.

4. Do I need to know exactly what I want before starting?

Sample answer: “No. You can come with a decision you cannot resolve, several possible directions or a sense that your current role no longer fits. We start by clarifying what you want help with. If a different service would better match the problem, I will say so before recommending a package.”

Adapt it: Do not make uncertainty sound like automatic eligibility. Some offers require an existing business, a particular role or readiness for a defined activity. Tell the reader what they need to bring, and distinguish a vague goal from a need that is outside your competence.

5. How many sessions are included, and how long are they?

Sample answer: “The example career-direction package includes six individual 50-minute sessions, normally held every two weeks. We agree the appointment dates together. The package does not include extra sessions unless we agree them separately in writing.”

Adapt it: Replace every number with your real offer details. Say whether “three months” means a fixed number of sessions, a membership period or access to materials. These are not interchangeable. Include any expiry rule where a buyer can find it before payment, and check that the answer matches the package they can actually purchase.

6. Are sessions online or in person?

Sample answer: “Sessions take place online using the appointment link provided with your booking. You will need a private space, an internet connection and a device that supports the call. I do not offer in-person appointments for this package. If access needs might affect your participation, contact me before booking so we can discuss the arrangements.”

Adapt it: Give the actual delivery format and any meaningful location or time-zone constraints. If you travel to clients, explain the area and any additional arrangements. Do not list an office address as a meeting location when clients cannot attend there.

Coachful demo: check the actual scheduling and call setup before describing how clients meet you. Availability and connected services depend on configuration.

7. What do I need to do before the first session?

Sample answer: “Before we meet, please complete the short preparation form and read the coaching agreement. Bring one situation you would like to explore; you do not need a presentation or a polished goal. Please avoid sending confidential information about your employer or other people unless we have agreed an appropriate way to handle it.”

Adapt it: Describe only the preparation you actually use. A ten-page questionnaire is not a “quick form.” If you ask for sensitive information, consider whether you need it, explain its purpose and apply appropriate privacy practices. Do not turn the FAQ into an invitation to submit a detailed personal history by ordinary email.

8. Is there homework between sessions?

Sample answer: “We agree any between-session activity together. It might involve reflecting on a decision, testing a conversation or researching an option. The aim is a useful action that fits your circumstances, not completing worksheets for their own sake. Tell me if an activity is not workable so we can review it.”

Adapt it: Be honest about the time commitment and whether materials are optional or required. If a group program has lessons or exercises, say how they relate to live sessions. Do not describe substantial independent study as a small bonus if participation depends on it.

Coachful demo: clients can view available coaching programs on a phone. Check the actual materials and access your own offer includes before describing them in the FAQ.

9. Can I contact you between sessions?

Sample answer: “This package includes brief messages about the actions we agreed, using the client messaging channel. I aim to respond within two working days, Monday to Thursday. Messaging does not include additional coaching sessions, urgent support or a guarantee of an immediate reply.”

Adapt it: Specify the channel, purpose, working days and realistic response expectation. “Ongoing support” is too elastic: you may mean a short clarification while the buyer hears daily access. Avoid promising a response window you cannot sustain, and explain what clients should do when they need urgent help outside the coaching service.

Money, changes and expectations: answer without evasion

10. How much does coaching cost, and how do payments work?

Sample answer: “The current package total and any available payment options are shown on the offer page before you book. A payment plan changes the payment dates, not the number of sessions or the total commitment unless the written offer says otherwise. Please review the payment terms and ask about anything unclear before accepting.”

Adapt it: On your actual page, include the real amount or a direct, unmistakable route to it. Explain the currency, payment dates, total payable and applicable charges or taxes accurately. If you quote individually, say what determines the quote. “Book a call to find out” is not an answer to a straightforward price question.

Coachful demo: distinguish the payment schedule from session scheduling. Do not use demo invoice amounts as market benchmarks.

11. Can I reschedule or cancel a session?

Sample answer: “Please use the rescheduling link or contact me at least two working days before your appointment if you need to move it. Later changes are handled under the cancellation terms you receive before purchase. If I need to change an appointment, I will contact you to arrange an alternative.”

Adapt it: Replace the notice period with your actual reviewed policy. Explain how to give notice, what happens after the deadline, and how exceptional circumstances are considered. Do not assume a FAQ sentence makes a fee enforceable. Your agreement, checkout information, consumer obligations and local law all matter.

12. What if I want to stop coaching or request a refund?

Sample answer: “Contact me if you want to end the engagement so we can confirm the remaining sessions, any outstanding payments and the next steps. Your cancellation and refund rights are described in the terms supplied before purchase, alongside any rights that apply by law. Please read those terms before committing, rather than assuming unused sessions are automatically refundable.”

Adapt it: This needs your own policy, not a copied internet clause. State any relevant conditions plainly and obtain qualified advice where needed. A short FAQ is a summary, not a way to erase statutory rights or quietly introduce conditions absent from the sale.

13. Will our conversations be confidential?

Sample answer: “We agree confidentiality and its limits before the coaching starts. The agreement explains how information is handled and any circumstances in which disclosure may be required. If someone else is paying for your coaching, we will agree what, if anything, is shared with them before the engagement begins.”

Adapt it: Never promise “100% confidential, no exceptions.” Explain the relevant boundaries, records and third-party arrangements accurately. In employer-funded work, attendance, goals, progress themes and session content are different categories. Do not let a general website answer substitute for explicit agreement between the people involved.

14. What results can you guarantee?

Sample answer: “I cannot guarantee a new job, a promotion or a particular salary. I can explain the coaching process, what the package includes and how we will review whether the work remains useful. Your decisions, circumstances and actions influence what happens, as do factors outside either person’s control.”

Adapt it: Be specific about what you can responsibly commit to without shifting all responsibility onto the client. Describe genuine review points and delivery commitments. Testimonials, where you have permission to use them, describe individual experiences; they do not establish what every future client should expect.

15. What happens on the discovery call, and do I have to buy?

Sample answer: “The introductory call is a chance to discuss what you are looking for, ask questions and decide whether this coaching offer is a suitable next step. It is not a full coaching session, and there is no obligation to purchase. If we decide not to work together, we can end the conversation without a sales follow-up you have not agreed to.”

Adapt it: State your actual call length, price if any, and purpose next to the booking link. If you do not offer introductory calls, replace this answer with your real first step. Do not advertise a “free coaching session” when the appointment is a sales conversation.

Where should the FAQ go on a coaching website?

Keep a short set of offer-specific answers on the relevant service or sales page. Someone considering one-to-one career coaching should not have to interpret policies written for a different group program. A separate FAQ page can hold shared practical information, but link to it clearly rather than making people search the footer.

Use questions as headings and answer in the first sentence. If you use accordions, make sure they work with a keyboard and on a phone. Do not hide a mandatory fee, a major exclusion or a material cancellation condition inside a closed panel. Repeat decision-critical information in the appropriate offer or purchase flow.

Start with fit and scope, follow with delivery and commitment, then address money and changes. If your audience regularly asks a different question first, change the order. Your goal is not a universal FAQ architecture; it is helping the next suitable person understand this particular service.

Run a five-point truth check before publishing

  1. Offer check: Match the session count, inclusions, price and payment options to the actual offer.
  2. Policy check: Compare cancellations, refunds, confidentiality and support with your reviewed agreement and relevant obligations.
  3. Experience check: Open the booking, preparation and client-access steps as a client would. Remove instructions that do not match reality.
  4. Language check: Delete unsupported guarantees, vague “unlimited” promises and claims about credentials you do not hold.
  5. Mobile check: Read the answers on a small screen, open every accordion and test the real next-step link.

Ask a trusted reader to explain what they think they are buying after reading the page. If they expect weekly sessions and you sell fortnightly appointments, the copy has failed even if each sentence is technically defensible. Correct the misunderstanding before adding more persuasive language.

Will a coaching FAQ help with SEO?

A useful FAQ gives visitors explicit answers and gives search engines readable information about the page. That is not a promise of traffic, rankings or an AI recommendation. Write questions your actual buyers ask, not a list of loosely related keywords.

Do not promise that adding FAQ markup will create expandable questions in Google. Google’s FAQ structured-data documentation limits FAQ rich results to well-known, authoritative government or health websites. An ordinary coaching practice should not treat that search feature as the reason to build its FAQ.

Turn the answers into a better booking decision

Choose six answers from this library, replace the hypothetical details with your real arrangements, and check them against your offer. Then place them beside the next step a suitable prospect can actually take. You are not trying to remove every question from a call; you are making room for questions about fit rather than basic logistics.

If you are evaluating where to build that experience, try the interactive Coachful demo. Compare the website, offer, forms, appointments and client experience shown here with the promises you want to make. Keep the FAQ honest about the workflow you have configured, not the one you hope to offer later.
