Group Discussion Topics Generator
Discussion prompts for group coaching, masterminds and community calls, tailored to your niche and the depth you want.
The silence after "so, what is everyone working on?" is where group calls go to die. Good discussion topics are specific to the room, invite a story or a decision, and take under two minutes to answer. This generator writes twenty of them for your niche, in four sets from light warm-ups to real accountability.
How to use this tool
- 1
Pick the type of group: a coaching call, a mastermind, a community thread, a workshop or a team offsite.
- 2
Enter the niche or audience so the prompts talk about their actual world, not "success" in general.
- 3
Choose depth and group size. Larger groups get prompts that work in breakout rounds.
- 4
Generate. Use the warm-ups to open, one deep dive in the middle, and the accountability set to close.
What makes a group discussion topic work
A good prompt has a subject the person can picture and a constraint that forces a choice. "What is one thing you stopped doing this month, and what did it free up?" gets answers. "How do you feel about productivity?" gets a shrug. The generator avoids yes/no questions and the clichés everyone has heard.
Order matters. Open light so quieter members speak early, put the deep question in the middle when trust is highest, and close with a commitment so the call produces something. Five prompts per set is enough for a 60-minute call with six to twelve people.
Discussion topics for masterminds and communities
Masterminds run on hot seats and decisions, so prompts should ask for a real dilemma: "what decision are you avoiding, and what would you need to know to make it?" Communities run asynchronously, so the prompt needs to work as a written post someone answers on a Tuesday night. The generator adjusts for both.
Coaches running cohorts in Coachful post the weekly prompt to the cohort feed and pin it. Replies stay attached to the program, so you can see who engages between calls and who has gone quiet.
Questions coaches ask
What are good topics for group discussion in coaching?
Prompts that ask for a specific story or decision from the person's own week: a win, a stuck point, a belief they are testing, a commitment for the next seven days. The generator groups them into warm-ups, wins and stuck points, deep dives and action, so a call has an arc.
How many discussion topics do I need for a one-hour group call?
Three to five. One warm-up, one or two substantive prompts, one commitment round. With twelve people, each substantive prompt takes 15 to 20 minutes if everyone speaks. Keep the extras for next week.
What are good mastermind group discussion topics?
Decisions and trade-offs: "what would you do with double the budget", "what are you saying yes to that you should say no to", "what is the number you are not telling us". Pick "mastermind" as the group type and the generator leans this way.
Can I use these for an online community?
Yes. Choose "community thread". Prompts are written to work as a post people answer in writing over a few days, with a follow-up question you can drop into the replies.
Is the group discussion topics generator free?
Yes. Generate as many sets as you need for different weeks or cohorts, and copy the list straight into your call notes or community post.
