Client Testimonial Request Generator

Three ready-to-send testimonial requests (an email, a short message and a voice-note script) plus the five questions that get a client writing something you can actually use.

The more specific, the better the request. Numbers and before/after beat adjectives.

Most coaches have clients who would happily write a testimonial and never do, because the ask was vague and the blank page was hard. This generator writes the ask three ways, as an email, a short message and a voice-note script, and sends five questions with it so the client answers a story instead of staring at a box.

How to use this tool

  1. 1

Enter your first name and, if you like, the client's. The request is written to them, from you.

  2. 2

Describe what actually changed for them. A promotion, a number, a habit that stuck. The request quotes it back so the client knows which story to tell.

  3. 3

Pick a tone and where the testimonial will live, then generate. Copy the version that suits how you two usually talk.

  4. 4

Send the five questions with it. Answers to "what surprised you?" read like a person; answers to "please write a testimonial" read like a form.

Why testimonial requests go unanswered

The client is willing; the task is unclear. "Could you write a few words?" hands them a blank page and a worry about getting it wrong. A request that names the result you saw, asks five concrete questions and offers to tidy their voice note into text removes every reason to put it off.

Timing matters more than wording. Ask within a week of a visible win, or at the natural end of a package, while the before and after are both fresh.

Using testimonials honestly

Ask permission for the name and photo separately from the testimonial itself; the generator writes that follow-up for you. Keep the client's words as they wrote them, trim for length only, and never add results they did not state.

On Coachful a testimonial can sit on your website, your link in bio and an offer page from one place, so the same quote works wherever a prospect first finds you.

Questions coaches ask

How do I ask a coaching client for a testimonial?

Name the specific change you saw, ask five short questions instead of "write something", give a soft deadline, and offer to turn a voice note into text. The generator produces exactly that, in your tone.

What questions get a good testimonial?

Where were you before we started? What was the turning point? What is different now? What surprised you? Who would you tell about this? Answers to those five read like a story a prospect can see themselves in.

When is the best time to ask?

Within a week of a clear win, or at the end of a package. Both are moments the client can still feel the before and after.

Can I edit what a client wrote?

Trim for length and fix typos, and show them the edit. Do not change the meaning or add outcomes. If a line is unclear, ask them to rephrase it.

Is this tool free?

Yes. Generate as many requests as you need; nothing is stored unless you choose to save it in your Coachful account.
