Top 5 Habit Tracking Apps for Wellness Coaches, Ranked
The best habit tracking apps for wellness coaches do one job that a generic streak app cannot: they connect a client's small daily actions (lights out by 22:30, a ten-minute walk after lunch, two minutes of slow breathing before a hard meeting) to the coaching relationship, so you can see what happened between sessions and respond before a quiet week becomes a cancelled package. The real deciding question is not "which app has the prettiest streak counter?" but "where will my client log the habit, where will I see it, and how many other tools do I need around it?"
Our pick is Coachful, because habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars, booking, payments, agreements, courses and a client community all sit behind one login for you and one branded app for your client. We make Coachful, so weigh that, and judge the ranking by the criteria we state below. The other four tools on this list are genuinely good at parts of the job: Everfit for structured habit and nutrition assignments, Quenza for reflective activities, Practice Better for practitioners who keep a clinical-style record, and ABC Trainerize for coaches whose wellness work leans toward fitness.
This guide starts with a five-question checklist about your practice, maps your answers to a pick, then reviews each tool with what it does for wellness coaching specifically, what it costs as listed in October 2026, and when you should choose it over Coachful.
What do wellness coaches actually need from a habit tracker?
Wellness coaches need a tracker that holds several gentle, overlapping habits across sleep, stress, movement, nutrition and connection, and that gives the coach a weekly view of patterns rather than a pass or fail score. That is a different brief from a personal trainer's (sets and reps) or a nutrition coach's (macros and meal logs).
Four things make wellness work distinctive:
- Habits are soft and multi-domain. A typical client might be working on a wind-down routine, a hydration target, a daily walk and a weekly call with a friend, all at once. The app has to let you set several habits, attach them to a larger goal ("sleep through the night three times a week"), and keep each one small.
- Reflection matters as much as ticking a box. Morning and evening check-ins (energy, mood, how the evening routine went) often tell you more than a completion rate. You want check-in questions you write yourself, not only a checkbox.
- The client journey is long and mostly between sessions. Many wellness programs run 8 to 12 weeks with a session every week or two. The work happens on the other 13 days, so between-session delivery (daily tasks, short lessons, a cohort group, nudges) carries the program.
- Scope is a live issue. Wellness coaching is not treatment. Sleep, eating and stress habits sit close to medical and mental health territory, so the software should make it easy to keep coaching notes tidy and to refer out, and you should be clear about what it is not built for (clinical records, insurance billing).
There is also a timing reason to choose software that keeps clients engaged for weeks rather than days. In a widely cited review in the British Journal of General Practice, Gardner, Lally and Wardle summarise research in which people repeating a daily health behaviour in response to a single cue saw automaticity plateau after an average of 66 days, with considerable variation, and found that missing an occasional day did not seriously derail the process (Making health habitual, British Journal of General Practice, 2012). The authors suggest telling people to expect around 10 weeks. That is roughly the length of a typical wellness program, and it is a good argument against streak designs that punish a single missed day.
If you want the habit-design side before the software side, our habit coaching framework and the guide to micro-goals and habit loops cover how to size and sequence habits. The broader category guide, coaching software with habit tracking, explains the feature set in general terms.
Which five questions should you answer before choosing?
Answer these five questions about your practice honestly; the table in the next section turns your answers into a pick.
- Do you sell programs or single sessions? If clients buy an 8 or 12 week program with weekly themes, you need program delivery (weekly goals, daily tasks, habits) in the same place as the tracker. If you sell ad-hoc sessions, a lighter tracker may be enough.
- How much of your work is movement and food versus sleep, stress and mindset? Fitness-first apps are strong on workouts and nutrition logging and thinner on reflection. Reflection-first apps are the reverse.
- How many tools are you willing to run? Count your booking tool, payment tool, contract signing, email list, website, course host and community. If the honest number is four or more, total stack cost and the number of logins your client sees matter more than any single feature.
- How many clients will you have in 12 months: about 5, 15 or 40? Per-client pricing that looks cheap at five clients can climb quickly. Check the cost table below at your likely size, not your current one.
- Do you need a clinical-style record? If you work inside a clinic, take insurance, or need a vendor to sign a business associate agreement, you need a practice management tool built for that and you should confirm compliance directly with the vendor. Coaching platforms, Coachful included, are not built for clinical record-keeping.
Which app fits your answers?
Find the row that matches most of your answers. If two rows fit, the one higher in the table is the stronger general choice.
| If your answers look like this | Start with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Coachful: you sell programs, coach across sleep, stress, movement and food, and want to drop three or more tools | Coachful | Habits, check-ins, goals, booking, payments, agreements, courses, community and website under one login, with a branded client app |
| Your wellness work is mostly movement and nutrition assignments, and you already have booking and payments elsewhere | Everfit | Habit, workout and nutrition assignments in a client app, with a no-cost tier for up to 5 clients |
| Your sessions are reflective (stress, values, mindfulness) and you want worksheets and guided activities | Quenza | Activities, worksheets and programs with chat in a client app; no client payments today |
| You work alongside clinicians or need charting, telehealth and billing in one practice record | Practice Better | Practice management built for wellness and nutrition practitioners |
| Your clients mostly train, and habits are a side layer on top of workouts | ABC Trainerize | Workout programming with habits and nutrition tracking, priced by client seats |
How did we rank these habit tracking apps?
We ranked tools on what keeps a wellness client's habits alive for ten weeks, using the vendors' own documentation and pricing pages as listed in October 2026 and public review profiles. We did not run hands-on tests, and we say where a fact comes from an older profile.
Ranking criteria: one login for the whole client journey, strength of between-session delivery (habits, check-ins, goals, lessons, community), total stack cost at 5, 15 and 40 clients, and setup effort, including whether someone will build it for you.
| Rank and tool | Best for | Habit and check-in depth | Entry price as listed | Main limit for wellness coaches |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful (#1) | Program-based wellness coaches replacing several tools | Habits with streaks, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars, weekly goals, daily tasks | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients | No wearable sync; not for clinical records |
| Everfit (#2) | Movement and nutrition-led wellness | Habits, workouts and nutrition assignments | $0/mo Starter (up to 5 clients); Pro from $19/mo | Automation, payments and meal plans are paid add-ons; no courses, website or email |
| Quenza (#3) | Reflective, worksheet-based wellness work | Activities, worksheets and programs | $25/mo Spark (10 clients) | No client payments yet; no scheduling per older profile |
| Practice Better (#4) | Practitioners who chart | Programs and client portal | $0/mo Sprout (3 clients); Starter $35/mo | Evergreen programs and portal branding start on Plus; no website or funnels per older profile |
| ABC Trainerize (#5) | Fitness-heavy wellness | Habits alongside workouts and nutrition tracking | $0/mo Basic (1 client); Pro from $25/mo for 5 clients | Scheduling, payments and video are paid add-ons below Studio |
1. Coachful: why is it the best habit tracking app for wellness coaches?
Coachful is the strongest choice because the habit tracker is not a separate app: it is part of the program, the client record and the client's branded home, so a missed evening check-in, a slipping streak and next Tuesday's session all show up in the same place.

Coachful is a coaching platform built for coaches who deliver programs rather than only sessions, from solo coaches to small teams, and especially for coaches replacing four to six tools. One subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant. The company is based in Tallinn, Estonia, and its Trustpilot profile showed 4.5 from 21 reviews.
How habits and check-ins work for a wellness client
You build a multi-week program with weekly goals, daily tasks and habits. Each habit tracks progress and streaks, and goals carry progress bars, so a client working on "sleep through the night" can see the wind-down routine, the caffeine cut-off and the morning light walk feeding one goal.

The goal view is where this becomes useful for wellness work. Linked tasks and habits sit together in a Daily momentum section, with daily and weekly reflection tabs underneath, so the client logs the habit and answers a short reflection in the same screen. That pairing of action and reflection is exactly what most generic trackers miss.

Morning and evening check-ins come from the coaching flows library, which groups flows into Welcome, Daily, Weekly and Journeys. A wellness coach might run a morning check-in that asks about sleep quality and energy, and an evening check-in that asks whether the wind-down routine happened and what got in the way. You write the questions, so they match your method rather than a template's.

Here is a short walkthrough of how check-ins are set up and what the client sees:
What the coach sees between sessions
Every client record holds goals, check-ins, habits, notes, intake answers, tags, payments and sessions, plus an AI briefing per client. Each client also carries a status of thriving, active, quiet or at risk. For a wellness caseload, the quiet and at-risk flags matter most: a client who stops checking in after a stressful week is the one who needs a short message, not a lecture at the next session.

Michelle, the built-in AI assistant, works from live practice data. It can brief you before a session (which habits slipped, what the client wrote in check-ins), draft programs and emails, and summarise recorded sessions. It can also give you optional private feedback on your own coaching against ICF Core Competencies 3 to 8. Questions and planning are included in your Coachful membership; confirmed builds and changes use AI credits. If you want clients to have support between sessions, the AI Coach lets selected clients chat with an AI version of you that you configure.
Everything around the tracker
The reason Coachful ranks first on total stack cost is what surrounds the habits:
- Booking with availability rules, buffers, minimum notice, time-zone detection, two-way Google, Apple/iCloud and Outlook sync, built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet or Teams links, intake questions on booking, and email reminders plus SMS and WhatsApp once messaging is enabled.
- Payments through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account: one-time, subscriptions, payment plans, coupons, Apple Pay and Google Pay. There is a 0% Coachful platform fee; you pay only Stripe or Razorpay processing.
- Coaching agreements with e-signature, sent before the first call and stored on the client record. For wellness coaches this is where the scope statement lives.
- Courses and resources (modules, lessons, drip, completion tracking, downloads, videos) delivered into the client's branded home, which suits short sleep-hygiene or stress lessons released weekly.
- Community: a feed, group chat, direct messages and video events, with cohort groups created automatically when someone enrols in a program. See our guide to community platforms for wellness coaches for why cohorts help habit adherence.
- Website, funnels and email: a section-based website builder with 30 homepage templates, booking and lead-magnet funnels, and email sequences with triggers, delays and branching. Our wellness coach website guide covers what that site should say.
- The Fitness & Nutrition pack, for wellness coaches who also cover food and movement: nutrition targets up to calories and macros, meal plans, recipes, food lookup and barcode scanning, private progress photos and measurements, weekly check-ins and a workout builder with illustrated exercises. More on the Fitness & Nutrition page.
There are more than 40 ready-to-film program templates to start from, plus journey and coaching flow templates. Clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding, and you can export all client data, including habits and check-ins, as a ZIP at any time.
Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. On every plan, you can open Create > We'll build it for you · FREE, describe what you want, attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files (logos, photos, brand guides, copy, documents; no video), and the Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. For a wellness coach that might be the 8-week program with its habits and check-ins, a website, a lead-magnet funnel or an email sequence. Nothing is invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. It does not cover recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. One recent build: a menopause and midlife health coach starting from nothing got a five-page site in sage and cream with every button leading to a free 20-minute consultation. Read more about the white-glove build service.
What Coachful does not do
Be clear on the limits before you choose it. Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and does not sign a BAA, so it is not for clinical record-keeping or insurance billing. There is no Garmin, Fitbit, Whoop or Oura sync, and Apple Health sync is not publicly available, so sleep and step data come from what the client logs, not from a wearable. There is no PayPal and no permanent free plan. The client app is the Coachful app carrying your branding, not an app under your own App Store account. There are no stock exercise videos; you attach your own.
Price: flat monthly plans; lower plans cap the number of clients, Pro is unlimited, and team plans add coach seats (current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients). Monthly plans cancel in one click, and there is a free trial. More for this niche on the Coachful for health coaches page.
2. Everfit: is it good for wellness habit coaching?
Everfit is a solid second choice if your wellness coaching leans on movement and food, because it puts habits, workouts and nutrition assignments in one client app and has a no-cost tier for up to five clients.

Everfit is a fitness coaching app priced by client count. Its documented features cover workouts, habits, nutrition and messaging, which maps well onto wellness clients whose goals are a daily walk, a strength routine twice a week and a vegetable target. A wellness coach would typically assign a handful of habits, pair them with a simple movement plan, and use messaging for weekly nudges.
Where it fits a wellness practice
The fit is strongest when your sessions are short and practical and the habits are concrete (steps, water, protein at breakfast). It is weaker for reflective work: our records do not describe journaling-style morning and evening check-ins with custom reflection prompts at the depth Coachful offers, so check Everfit's help center if that matters to you.
Pricing as listed in October 2026
- Starter: $0/month for up to 5 clients, described as free forever.
- Pro: from $19/month ($16/month billed annually) for 5 clients, scaling by client count: 10 clients $29 ($24 annual), 20 clients $49 ($41), 50 clients $95 ($79), 100 clients $140 ($117), 300 clients $290 ($242).
- Studio: from $105/month ($88 annual) for 50 clients, up to 500 clients at $430 ($358).
- Enterprise for 500+ clients, price on request.
- Trial: 30 days, no contract and no credit card, per Everfit's pricing and teams pages. Transaction fees are not shown on the pricing page.
Limits to know
Automation (Autoflow), payments and meal plans are paid add-ons, so the headline price is not the full cost if you want automated habit sequences or to take payment in the app. There is no course builder, website, funnels or email marketing, so you will still need a booking tool, a site and an email platform. Everfit's Trustpilot profile showed 2.7 from 16 reviews when we checked on 25 October 2026, a small sample.
Pick it over Coachful if your practice is movement-led, you have five or fewer clients, and you are happy to keep booking, payments and your website in other tools for now.
3. Quenza: does it suit reflective wellness work?
Quenza suits wellness coaches whose habit work is reflective (stress, self-compassion, values, mindfulness), because it is built around activities, worksheets and programs that clients complete in an app, with chat alongside.

Quenza describes itself as a client-engagement tool for coaches and therapists. In practice, a wellness coach would build a short daily activity (a two-minute breathing exercise with a rating afterwards, an evening gratitude prompt) and drip it through a program. That is close to what reflective wellness work needs between sessions.
The trade-off for habit tracking
Our records describe activities, worksheets, programs, chat and a client app; they do not describe a dedicated habit module with streaks and progress bars. You can approximate daily habits with recurring activities, but check Quenza's own documentation if you want streak-style tracking. Quenza does not process client payments today (invoicing and digital products are marked as planned), and an older profile notes no scheduling or video calls. That means a booking tool, a payment tool and an agreement tool on top.
Pricing as listed in October 2026
- Spark: $25/month ($20 billed annually) for 1 professional and 10 clients.
- Growth: $50/month ($40 annual) for 1 professional and 250 clients.
- Impact: $125/month ($100 annual) for 1 professional and 400 clients.
- Collective: $160/month ($128 annual) for up to 3 professionals and 500 clients.
- Beyond: unlimited clients and professionals, price on request.
- Trial: 30 days, no credit card.
Trustpilot showed 4.3 from 8 reviews on 25 October 2026, too few to read much into.
Pick it over Coachful if your sessions are mainly reflective, you already run booking and payments elsewhere and like that setup, and you want a narrow engagement tool rather than a whole platform.
4. Practice Better: when does a practice management tool make sense?
Practice Better makes sense when your wellness work sits next to clinical care, for example inside an integrative clinic or alongside a dietitian, because it is practice management software with charting, telehealth, scheduling, billing, programs and a client portal.

Practice Better is built for wellness and nutrition practitioners. For habit work, the relevant pieces in our records are programs and the client portal, which is where a practitioner would set daily actions and collect updates. We do not have a dedicated habit-streak feature on file, so confirm the tracking style in its help center. Where it pulls ahead of coaching-first tools is the record: charting and billing in one place. If your work needs a business associate agreement, ask Practice Better directly; we have not verified its compliance terms.
Pricing as listed in October 2026
- Sprout: $0/month for 3 clients, 1 practitioner, 100 MB storage.
- Starter: $35/month ($25 billed annually) for 10 clients, 1 GB.
- Professional: $69/month ($59 annual) for 300 clients, 5 GB.
- Plus: $99/month ($89 annual) for unlimited clients, 3 admins and unlimited storage.
- Team: $155/month ($145 annual) for 2 practitioners, up to 200 at +$50 each.
- Trial: 30 days on Team, 14 days on other paid plans. Payments run through Practice Better Payments, powered by Stripe; rates are not listed.
What holds it back for coaches
Evergreen programs, portal branding, a custom URL and SMS start on Plus at $99/month, so a coach who wants a branded, always-open program pays the higher tier. An older profile notes no website builder or funnel pages, and accounts below Team have one practitioner. Trustpilot showed 3.8 from 87 reviews on 25 October 2026.
Pick it over Coachful if you chart like a practitioner, work alongside clinical providers, and value a practice record over marketing tools, community and courses.
5. ABC Trainerize: is a fitness app enough for wellness clients?
ABC Trainerize is enough only if your wellness clients mostly train and habits are a layer on top of workouts; it is a personal-training app first, with habits and nutrition tracking added around workout programming.

Trainerize covers workouts, habits, nutrition tracking and messaging, priced by client seats. A wellness coach with an exercise background could assign a mobility routine, a step habit and a water habit and review them weekly. For stress and sleep work, it has less to offer beyond the habit checkbox.
Costs and add-ons as listed in October 2026
- Basic: $0/month for 1 client.
- Grow: $10/month ($9 billed annually) for 2 clients.
- Pro: $25/month ($23 annual) for 5 clients, with tiers at 15, 30, 50, 75, 100 and 200 clients. Trainerize's pricing page states that Pro scales to $135/month for up to 50 clients; we could not confirm the 15-client price from the page text, so check it before budgeting.
- Studio Plus: $275/month ($248 annual) for 500 clients and up, with 5+ locations; contact sales.
- Trial: 30 days with unlimited clients and no credit card; the account then reverts to the 1-client plan with no charge. Add-ons are not included in the trial.
The catch is that scheduling, selling products, payments, video and advanced nutrition are separate paid add-ons below Studio, and in-app payments require the Stripe Integrated Payments add-on (older profile). There is no course builder, website, funnels or email marketing. An older profile also notes that client data export is incomplete, without messages, photos or attachments. Trustpilot showed 3.1 from 100 reviews on 25 October 2026.
Pick it over Coachful if your clients are primarily training clients, you want workout programming at the centre of the app, and you are fine buying add-ons for booking and payments.
How do the five apps compare feature by feature?
This matrix covers the features wellness coaches ask about most. "Add-on" means a separate paid extra; "Not listed" means the feature is not in our October 2026 records, not that it definitely does not exist.
| Feature | Habits and streaks | Custom check-ins | Booking | Client payments | Courses | Community | Website and email |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Yes, with goals and progress bars | Morning, evening and weekly | Yes, with two-way calendar sync | Yes, via your Stripe or Razorpay | Yes, with drip | Yes, with automatic cohort groups | Yes |
| Everfit | Habits listed | Not listed at that depth | Not listed | Add-on | No | Not listed | No |
| Quenza | Via recurring activities | Activities and worksheets | No (older profile) | No (planned) | Programs | Not listed | Not listed |
| Practice Better | Via programs | Via programs and portal | Yes | Yes, via Stripe | Programs (evergreen on Plus) | Not listed | No website (older profile) |
| ABC Trainerize | Habits listed | Not listed at that depth | Add-on | Add-on | No | Not listed | No |
What will each app cost at 5, 15 and 40 clients?
Monthly list prices as published in October 2026, for the cheapest tier that covers each client count. These cover the habit app only; for every tool except Coachful, add the booking, payment, contract, website and email tools you would also need.
| Tool | 5 clients | 15 clients | 40 clients | What else you would pay for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients | Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients | Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients | Stripe or Razorpay processing; AI credits for confirmed builds |
| Everfit | $0 (Starter) or $19 (Pro) | $49 (Pro, 20-client tier) | $95 (Pro, 50-client tier) | Autoflow, payments and meal plan add-ons; booking, website, email |
| Quenza | $25 (Spark) | $50 (Growth) | $50 (Growth) | A payment tool, booking, agreements, website, email |
| Practice Better | $35 (Starter) | $69 (Professional) | $69 (Professional); $99 (Plus) for evergreen, branded programs | Website, funnels, email |
| ABC Trainerize | $25 (Pro) | 15-client Pro tier, price not confirmed | $135 (Pro, 50-client tier) | Scheduling, payments and video add-ons; website, email |
As an illustrative example only: a coach at 15 clients on a habit app plus separate tools for booking, payments, e-signature, email and a website is paying five or six subscriptions and asking each client to use several logins. That is where comparing the single-platform price above against the sum of your current tools gives the honest answer.
How does a wellness coach set this up in Coachful, step by step?
Here is an illustrative setup for an 8-week "Sleep and Stress Reset" group program. The program name, habits and timings are examples; swap in your own method.

- Start the program. Pick one of the program templates, ask Michelle to draft an eight-week outline from your notes, or request it through the white-glove service. Give each week a theme: week 1 baseline, week 2 wind-down routine, week 3 caffeine and light, week 4 movement, week 5 stress breaks, week 6 connection, week 7 setbacks, week 8 maintenance.
- Add weekly goals and daily tasks. One weekly goal ("lights out by 22:30 on five nights") and one or two daily tasks, such as a three-minute lesson or a short exercise.
- Add three habits, no more. For example: screens off 30 minutes before bed, a ten-minute walk in daylight before noon, and two minutes of slow breathing after lunch. Link them to a goal such as "wake rested four mornings a week" so progress shows on one bar.
- Turn on morning and evening check-ins. Morning: "How rested do you feel, 1 to 5?" and "What time did you fall asleep?" Evening: "Did the wind-down happen?" and "What got in the way?" Keep each check-in under a minute.
- Set up the front door. A booking page for a discovery call with intake questions about sleep and stress, an agreement with e-signature that includes your scope statement, and a checkout through your Stripe account with a payment plan if you offer one.
- Let the cohort form itself. When clients enrol, Coachful creates the cohort group automatically, so the group chat is ready on day one; add a weekly video event for the cohort.
- Review weekly in ten minutes. Check which clients show as quiet or at risk, read the AI briefing before each session, and use a short weekly review prompt (our weekly habit review templates have examples).
- Close the program. In week 8, set a maintenance habit for the next month and offer a follow-on package. If a client leaves, the ZIP export includes their habits, check-ins and notes.

If you would rather not build any of this yourself, the Create page's build card is where you describe the program, attach your outline or brand files, and the team builds it in your account.
Which red flags and switching costs should you watch for?
The biggest red flags are pricing that climbs per client, features that turn out to be add-ons, and data you cannot take with you. Check these before you commit:
- Per-client pricing at your 12-month size. A tier that fits five clients rarely fits a group program of 20. Check the cost table at the client count you are aiming for.
- Add-ons hidden behind the headline price. Automation, payments, scheduling and meal plans are paid extras on some fitness-first apps. Price the version you will actually use.
- Streaks that shame. A tracker that resets to zero and turns red after one missed evening can discourage exactly the clients who are struggling. The research above suggests occasional misses do not derail habit formation, so look for progress views (12 of 30 days) rather than only unbroken streaks.
- Too many habits. Software makes it easy to assign eight habits. Two or three, linked to one goal, is easier to coach. See habit stacking for goal attainment for sequencing.
- Wearable expectations. If clients expect sleep or step data to flow in from a watch, confirm the integration first. Coachful has no Garmin, Fitbit, Whoop or Oura sync, so those figures are self-reported.
- Incomplete exports. Ask what the export includes. One older profile notes ABC Trainerize's client export omits messages, photos and attachments. Coachful exports roster, notes, check-ins, goals, habits, sessions and form responses as a ZIP.
- Scope creep into treatment. Wellness coaching supports behaviour change; it is not treatment. If a client describes symptoms of insomnia that persist, disordered eating, panic, depression or a medical condition, pause the habit plan and refer them to a licensed clinician. Keep the referral note in your coaching record and put the scope line in your agreement.
- Switching mid-program. Moving clients halfway through an eight-week program loses streak history and confuses people. Switch between cohorts, and ask whether the new vendor imports your clients, programs and content for you (Coachful does this during onboarding).
For how other niches weigh the same trade-offs, compare our lists of habit tracking apps for health coaches and habit tracking apps for nutrition coaches.
What is the verdict?
For most wellness coaches who sell programs, Coachful is the best habit tracking app because the habits, check-ins and goals live inside the same platform as booking, payments, agreements, courses, community and your website, so clients have one branded app and you have one place to see who is going quiet.
Choose Everfit if your work is movement-led and you are under five clients; Quenza if your sessions are reflective and you are happy with a narrow engagement tool; Practice Better if you chart and work alongside clinicians; and ABC Trainerize if your clients are really training clients. If you are still mapping the rest of your stack, our guide to the best software for wellness coaches covers the wider picture, and how to start a wellness coaching business covers the business side.
To start, take the free trial, then send a build request through the white-glove service for your first program so you are not configuring habits and check-ins from a blank screen.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best habit tracking app for wellness coaches?
For program-based wellness coaches, Coachful ranks first because habits, streaks, morning and evening check-ins and goals sit in the same platform as booking, payments, agreements, courses and community. Everfit is the stronger pick for movement-led coaches with five or fewer clients, and Quenza for reflective, worksheet-based work.
Can I use a consumer habit app instead of coaching software?
You can, but you will not see your client's data unless they send screenshots, and nothing ties the habit to your sessions or program. Coaching software lets you assign the habit, see completion and check-in answers, and follow up when someone goes quiet.
How many habits should a wellness client track at once?
Two or three is a sensible ceiling for most clients, linked to one goal. Research summarised by Gardner, Lally and Wardle found that a simple daily behaviour took around 66 days on average to become automatic, so fewer habits held for longer usually beats a long list.
Does Coachful sync with Apple Health, Fitbit or Garmin?
No. Coachful has no Garmin, Fitbit, Whoop or Oura sync, and Apple Health sync is not publicly available. Clients log habits and check-ins themselves in the branded app.
Is Coachful HIPAA compliant for wellness coaching?
No. Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and does not sign a business associate agreement, so it is not for clinical record-keeping or insurance billing. It is built for coaching records: goals, habits, check-ins, notes and sessions.
What is Coachful's free white-glove service?
On every plan, you can ask the Coachful team to build something inside your account, such as a wellness program with habits and check-ins, a website, a funnel or an email sequence. You describe it, attach up to 8 links and 10 files, and it is usually built within about 24 hours. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing.
Which habit tracker is cheapest for a new wellness coach?
Everfit's Starter tier lists $0/month for up to 5 clients and Practice Better's Sprout lists $0/month for 3 clients, as of October 2026. Both leave booking, website and email to other tools, so compare the total you would pay across all your tools, not just the tracker.
Should check-ins be daily or weekly?
For sleep and stress work, a short morning and evening check-in during the first few weeks gives you useful patterns, then a weekly reflection is often enough once routines settle. Keep each check-in under a minute or completion drops.
When should a wellness coach refer a client out?
Refer when a client describes persistent insomnia, signs of disordered eating, panic, depression, self-harm or any medical condition that the habit plan touches. Coaching supports behaviour change but is not treatment; note the referral and keep your scope statement in your coaching agreement.
Can I move my clients into Coachful mid-program?
You can, and clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding. It is usually smoother to switch between cohorts so nobody loses habit history halfway through a program.
