Practice Better Review 2026: Strengths, Limits and Verdict

This Practice Better review comes down to who you are. For dietitians, nutritionists and functional medicine practitioners, Practice Better is one of the most complete practice tools you can buy: charting, food journals, protocols, insurance paperwork and HIPAA-compliant telehealth in one account. For life, career and business coaches, it solves problems they do not have and leaves out the ones they do, mainly a website, funnels and a real community.
We checked every claim below against Practice Better's own pricing, feature and help pages in October 2026, and against what users say on G2 and Capterra. Where we could not confirm something, we say so. Near the end you will find a verdict for each type of practitioner, and a fair look at where Coachful fits for coaches.
If you are a coach already leaning toward a move, know that Coachful's team builds your website, programs and forms for you, free on every plan, so leaving does not mean a lost month of rebuilding.

What Practice Better is, and who it serves
Practice Better was founded in 2016 and is based in Toronto, according to its own company page, which also names Nathalie Garcia as co-founder and CEO. It says it serves more than 50,000 practitioners. The homepage pitch is "Grow your wellness practice with confidence", and the audiences it lists tell you the design brief: mental health professionals, functional medicine practitioners, health coaches, medical doctors, nutritionists, dietitians, personal trainers, nurse practitioners, naturopathic doctors and chiropractors.
Health coaches are on that list, and many use it happily. But look at the rest of the list and you can see the center of gravity. This is software for people who keep a clinical record.
Where Practice Better is excellent
Clinical charting that clinicians recognize
Session notes come in SOAP, ADIME, DAP and BIRP formats or a custom template, with saved snippets for recommendations you write often. Protocols, labs and tasks attach straight to a note, and a medication and supplement tracker shows active items side by side. The AI Charting Assistant records, transcribes and summarizes sessions, in person or on video, for an extra fee.
Food and lifestyle journaling
This is the feature dietitians mention first. Clients log meals from a database of more than 600,000 foods, with barcode scanning and photo entries in the app, and practitioners see full nutrient detail by food, meal and day. You can set daily nutrient and lifestyle targets, compare trends, and pull sleep, activity and heart rate in automatically from Apple Health, Fitbit, Garmin and Oura.
Billing that understands insurance
Superbills take one click. Claims export in CMS-1500 format, Claim.MD handles claims management for US practices, and Office Ally connects you to thousands of payers. On the cash side you get packages, payment plans, deposits, sliding-scale pricing, coupons and refunds, all through Practice Better Payments, which runs on Stripe.
Programs in three formats
Programs can run on fixed dates, as evergreen enrollments or self-paced, and they carry email sequences, media, documents, secure chat and quizzes. Practice Better also suggests email-only programs as lead magnets, and shows enrollees, completions and average days to complete for each program.
Compliance and integrations
The company states HIPAA, PIPEDA, PHIPA and GDPR compliance with AES-256 encryption in transit and at rest. The integration list fits its audience well: Fullscript, Rupa Health, Cronometer, That Clean Life, Zoom, Google and Apple Calendar, and Zapier, plus wearables.
Where coaches feel the limits
None of these are flaws for a clinic. They are the reasons coaches end up paying for other tools beside it.
- No website or funnel builder. You embed Practice Better's booking widget or links in a WordPress, Wix, Squarespace or Webflow site. Landing pages, sales pages and opt-in funnels live elsewhere.
- The features coaches want sit on Plus. Evergreen and self-paced programs, portal branding, a personalized URL and included text reminders start at $99 a month, as listed in October 2026.
- Community is program chat. A program's chat can run as a social-style feed, which suits a cohort. We found no standalone community space where all your clients meet.
- Accountability is journal-shaped. Journals, targets and measurements are thorough. We did not find a habit tracker with streaks, or coaching goals with progress bars and milestones.
- Add-ons stack up. AI Charting starts at $10 a month, the Connector Hub is $49 (Plus and Team only) and ePrescribe is $49 plus $99 onboarding.
- Group video goes through Zoom. One-to-one telehealth is built in; group sessions use the Zoom integration, so your participant limit follows your Zoom plan.
Practice Better pricing, briefly
As listed in October 2026: Sprout is free for 3 clients, Starter is $35 a month for 10 clients, Professional is $69 for 300 clients, Plus is $99 for unlimited clients, and Team is $155 with 2 practitioners and $50 for each extra one. Annual billing takes $10 a month off each paid plan. Trials last 14 days, or 30 on Team. For add-ons and three worked yearly totals, see our full Practice Better pricing breakdown.
What users say about Practice Better
Review scores are strong. As listed in October 2026, G2 users rate it 4.7 from 296 reviews and Capterra reviewers 4.8 from 96. The praise is consistent: one place for booking, invoicing, charting, courses and secure messaging, and support that people describe as helpful.
The complaints are consistent too, and they are worth reading before you commit:
- Setup takes time. Capterra reviewers note that there are so many features it is hard to get them all set up.
- Support runs on tickets. Some reviewers find responses slow and want a person to talk to.
- Price for a one-person practice. A few solo practitioners say the cost climbs faster than their practice.
- Browser video hiccups. One reviewer mentions first-time clients on a phone browser losing audio or video.
Practice Better verdict by practitioner type
| You are a... | Verdict | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Registered dietitian or nutritionist | Strong fit | Food journals with nutrient detail, ADIME notes, superbills and meal planning partners |
| Functional medicine or naturopathic practitioner | Strong fit | Protocols, labs, supplement tracking, Fullscript and ePrescribe |
| Mental health professional | Good fit | DAP and BIRP notes, HIPAA telehealth and insurance claims |
| Clinic with several practitioners | Good fit | Team plan with roles, a shared calendar and free migration |
| Health coach, no clinical work | Mixed | Great journaling, but you will pay for a website, email and community elsewhere |
| Fitness coach | Mixed | Measurements and wearables, but no workout builder on its feature list |
| Life, mindset or relationship coach | Poor fit | Charting and journals go unused; habits, goals and community matter more |
| Career, business or executive coach | Poor fit | No website, funnels or niche tools for job searches or business growth |
If you coach rather than treat: how Coachful compares
Coachful is a coaching platform, and it is the honest alternative for the bottom half of that table. It is not HIPAA-certified, and it has no insurance claims, ePrescribe or clinical chart formats. If you need those, stay with Practice Better.
What Coachful does instead is put the work between sessions at the center. Each client sees daily tasks from their program, habits with streaks and reminders, morning and evening check-ins you design, and goals with progress and milestones. On your side, every client gets a status of thriving, active, quiet or at risk, worked out from their own activity, so you notice drift before a renewal conversation.

Habits carry real rules: daily, set days of the week, a count per week, set days of the month or a count per month, with streaks that respect the rest days you set. Check-ins are flows you build, not a fixed questionnaire, and the answers land on the client record you open before a call.

The marketing side comes included in your Coachful membership: a website builder with 30 designed homepage templates and a blog, booking, application, lead-magnet and checkout funnels, email sequences and broadcasts, and offers that pay into your own Stripe or Razorpay account with a 0% Coachful platform fee. Clients get one app on iPhone, Android and the web with your logo and colors, plus a community feed with channels, group chat and live sessions. For you, Coach Corner is a private room inside Coachful where coaches share wins and ask each other questions, and your clients never see it.

Nutrition-focused coaches can install the Fitness & Nutrition power-up, which adds nutrition targets, meal plans, recipes, a food log with barcode scanning and private progress photos. It does not sync with Apple Health or wearables, which is a real gap next to Practice Better. Moving over? Coachful's team builds it for you, free
The fear that keeps most coaches on a tool they have outgrown is the rebuild. Coachful takes that off the table with a free white-glove build service on every plan.
Open Create and tap the first chip, We'll build it for you · FREE. Choose what you want built (a website, a funnel, an offer or sales page, a program, a course, a form or worksheet, an email sequence, a link in bio, a lead quiz and more), describe it, and attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files: your old program PDFs, intake forms, logo, photos or brand guide. Video files are not accepted.

The team replies by email with next steps, usually within about 24 hours, and builds the work inside your own Coachful account, so you can edit it afterwards with the normal editors. One recent request came from a life-purpose coach moving over from another coaching tool: a dark forest-green site with home, about and coaching pages, the three programs shown as one pine drawn at three heights taken from the coach's emblem, and the program descriptions and FAQ adapted from the old pages. Nothing is invented: no testimonials, credentials or prices that you did not provide.
The service does not record videos or audio for you, design logos or manage ads. Courses are built as structure, lessons and written material, and you film anything on camera. The full list is in our guide to the white-glove service, and the steps for leaving are in how to switch from Practice Better.
The bottom line on Practice Better
Practice Better earns its scores. If you keep clinical records, bill insurance, prescribe or coach nutrition with detailed food journals, it is a sound choice and probably the right one. If you coach people toward goals and your growth depends on a website, funnels and a community, you will spend money and evenings bolting those on, and a coaching platform will fit better. Our Practice Better alternatives guide ranks the options, and what software life coaches use shows the stack from the coaching side.
Frequently asked questions
Is Practice Better good for health coaches?
For health coaches who use food journals, protocols and HIPAA-compliant telehealth, yes. Its journaling, with a 600,000-food database and wearable sync, is excellent. Health coaches who mainly need programs, habits, a website and a community often find they pay for several tools beside it.
Is Practice Better HIPAA compliant?
Practice Better states that it is HIPAA, PIPEDA, PHIPA and GDPR compliant, with AES-256 encryption in transit and at rest, and shows compliance badges on its homepage. If you handle protected health information, confirm the business associate agreement terms with them directly.
What are the downsides of Practice Better?
The most common in reviews are a learning curve, ticket-based support that can feel slow and cost for solo practices. For coaches, the bigger gaps are no website or funnel builder, community limited to program chat, and evergreen programs and branding only from the Plus plan.
How much does Practice Better cost?
As listed in October 2026: free for 3 clients on Sprout, then $35 a month on Starter, $69 on Professional, $99 on Plus and $155 on Team, each $10 a month less billed annually. Add-ons such as AI Charting from $10 and ePrescribe at $49 are extra.
Does Practice Better have an app?
Yes. Its app runs on iPhone and Android for clients and practitioners. Clients journal food with barcode and photo entries, message you, see sessions and tasks, and join video sessions. Our Practice Better app review compares it with the Coachful client app.
Is Practice Better a good choice for a life coach or career coach?
Usually not. Its strengths are clinical: charting, food journals, protocols and insurance billing. A life or career coach needs habits, goals, check-ins, a community and a website that sells, which is the shape of a coaching platform such as Coachful.
Will Coachful rebuild what I had in Practice Better?
Yes, free on every plan. Request it from Create > We'll build it for you, attach your old program PDFs, forms and logo, and the team builds it in your account, usually within about 24 hours. Course videos are yours to record.
