Best Payment Platforms for Health Coaches: 12 Options Ranked

Best Payment Platforms for Health Coaches: 12 Options Ranked

The best payment platforms for health coaches do more than run a card. A health coaching client usually buys a three or six month package, often on a payment plan, signs an agreement that says coaching is not medical care, and then needs weekly check-ins, habits and meal guidance for the whole term. So the deciding question is simple: when the payment clears, does the same platform deliver what the client paid for, or does it hand you off to four other tools?

Our pick is Coachful, because checkout, payment plans, the signed agreement, booking and the habit and check-in program all live behind one login, with a 0% Coachful platform fee on top of Stripe or Razorpay processing. We make Coachful, so read the ranking with that in mind; every other tool below is described from what its vendor documents and what public reviewers report, as listed in October 2026. Eleven alternatives follow, including the right picks for coaches who only need a storefront, a practitioner-style practice system or a fitness app.

What do health coaches need from a payment platform?

Health coaches need a payment platform that sells packages and plans, collects a signed scope agreement before the first session, and connects payment to the program the client follows between sessions. A checkout page alone covers about a third of that job.

Here is what the work usually looks like, and what it means for payments:

  • Packages, not single sessions. Habit change takes weeks, so most health coaches sell 12 week resets, 90 day programs or monthly memberships. You need one-time payments, recurring subscriptions and installment plans, ideally all from the same product.
  • Payment plans with automatic retries. A client paying in three installments should not depend on you chasing invoices. The platform should charge on schedule and show you who is behind.
  • A signed agreement before session one. Your agreement should state that health coaching is education and behavior support, not diagnosis or treatment, and that the client keeps their doctor informed. It belongs on the client record next to the payment, not in a separate e-sign inbox. See our guide to coaching contracts.
  • Intake on booking or purchase. Goals, current habits, and the red flags that mean you should refer out (see the scope section below) need to arrive before you start.
  • Delivery after the sale. The thing clients pay for is the daily nudge: morning check-ins, habit streaks, a nutrition target, a weekly reflection. If payment and delivery live in different apps, clients drift and refunds follow.
  • Group and low-ticket offers. Many health coaches run a group challenge, a recipe guide or a short course as an entry point. The platform should sell those too, with coupons and order bumps.
  • Clean records for tax time. In the US, self-employed coaches report business income on Schedule C (IRS: About Schedule C) and usually pay estimated taxes during the year (IRS: Estimated taxes). An invoice per transaction makes that much easier. Check the specifics with an accountant.

A scope line every health coach should keep in mind. Coaching is not treatment. Do not bill insurance, do not promise clients that a program is a reimbursable medical expense, and refer to a doctor, registered dietitian or mental health professional when a client mentions a diagnosed condition they want you to manage, medication changes, signs of an eating disorder, chest pain or fainting, pregnancy complications, or thoughts of self-harm. If your work needs clinical records or a business associate agreement under HIPAA, you need a clinical system, and that changes which platform fits (more on that under Practice Better).

If you want the broader picture beyond payments, our roundup of the best health coaching software covers the full stack, and the general guide to payment platforms for coaches compares processors across every niche.

Which payment platforms for health coaches are best at a glance?

How we ranked: one login for the whole client journey from checkout to daily check-ins, delivery between sessions, total monthly stack cost including platform fees, and setup effort (including whether someone will build it for you).

Thinking of launching your coaching business?

Answer a few questions and Coachful builds it around you: your website, programs, booking and payments. Ready in minutes.

Build your platform

How did we choose and rank these platforms?

We started with tools health coaches actually use to get paid: coaching platforms, creator storefronts, client CRMs, practitioner systems and fitness apps. Each one had to process card payments directly or through a documented Stripe or PayPal connection.

For every tool we read the vendor's pricing page and help articles as listed in October 2026, noted trial terms and transaction fees, and checked Trustpilot scores seen in October 2026. We did not run paid test accounts, so where a vendor does not document something, the tables say so instead of guessing.

Then we weighted four things, in this order:

  1. One login for the client journey. Can a client pay, sign, book and follow their program without switching apps?
  2. Between-session delivery. Habits, check-ins, goals and nutrition support count heavily, because that is what a health coaching package sells.
  3. Total stack cost. Subscription plus platform fees plus the other tools you would still need.
  4. Setup effort. How long it takes to go from sign-up to a live offer, and whether help is available.

Direct coaching-platform substitutes sit in the middle of the list. Fitness apps rank lower because payments are add-ons there, and freelancer tools rank last because they know nothing about coaching.

1. Coachful: the best payment platform for health coaches who deliver programs

Coachful's offers page with program cards shown on a laptop on a sunlit wellness studio desk
Coachful's Offers page with demo program cards, on a laptop beside herbal tea and a yoga mat.

Coachful is a coaching platform where payment is the start of the client journey rather than the end of a sale. One subscription covers booking, payments, coaching agreements, multi-week programs with habits and check-ins, courses, community, a website with funnels and email, and Michelle, the built-in AI assistant. You get one login; your client gets one app with your branding inside the Coachful app. It is built for coaches who deliver programs, not just sessions, and for solo coaches replacing four to six tools.

How payments work. You connect your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account, so money lands in your account and you keep the processor relationship. From there you can sell one-time packages, monthly subscriptions and payment plans, add order bumps and coupons, issue refunds, and accept Apple Pay and Google Pay. Stripe Tax handles sales tax or VAT where you enable it. Every transaction produces an invoice, and you can raise manual invoices for anything sold outside checkout. Since August 2026 Coachful charges a 0% platform fee, so the only deduction from a sale is Stripe or Razorpay processing.

What happens after the client pays. This is where health coaches feel the difference. A purchase can enroll the client into a multi-week program with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks. The client record pulls it all together: goals, check-ins, habits, notes, intake answers, tags, payments and sessions, plus a status of thriving, active, quiet or at risk. When a client on month two of a payment plan goes quiet, you see it next to their payment history, before the next installment fails or a refund request lands.

Coachful's Offers page showing four demo offers, three of them live, with cover photos.

The signed agreement sits next to the payment. Coaching agreements with e-signature go out before the first call and are stored on the client record. For a health coach, that is where your scope wording lives: education and support, not diagnosis or treatment, and the client stays under their doctor's care.

Booking and paid sessions. Booking pages handle availability rules, buffers, minimum notice and time-zone detection, with two-way Google, Apple/iCloud and Outlook calendar sync. Sessions run on built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet or Teams links. You can charge per session or sell session credits, and add intake questions to the booking form. Email reminders are included; SMS (24 hours before) and WhatsApp (1 hour before) reminders start once messaging is enabled.

Low-ticket and group offers. A recipe guide, a short course or a 21 day challenge can sit alongside your premium package. Coachful sells courses with drip and completion tracking, downloads, videos, books, events and bundles, all delivered into the client's branded home. Program enrollment can create a cohort group automatically, which suits group resets. Checkout funnels, lead-magnet funnels and a link-in-bio page that sells connect to the same payment setup, and email sequences can follow up on abandoned interest.

Nutrition and movement, when you need them. The Fitness & Nutrition pack adds nutrition targets up to calories and macros, meal plans, recipes, food lookup and barcode scanning, private progress photos and measurements, weekly check-ins and a workout builder with an illustrated exercise library. See the Fitness & Nutrition pack for details. You attach your own demo videos; there are no stock exercise videos.

This short walkthrough shows how invoices and payment records look inside the coach dashboard:

What Coachful does not do. It is not HIPAA-certified and does not sign a BAA, so it is not for clinical record-keeping or insurance billing. There is no PayPal. There is no permanent free plan, though there is a free trial. The client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding, not under your own App Store account. There is no Garmin, Fitbit, Whoop or Oura sync, and Apple Health sync is not publicly available. The affiliate program tracks links, clicks, conversions and revenue, but payouts are recorded manually rather than sent by Coachful.

Pricing. Plans are flat monthly prices; lower plans cap the number of clients, Pro is unlimited, team plans add coach seats, and monthly plans cancel in one click (current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients). Payments, agreements, programs and the website are included in your Coachful membership rather than sold as add-ons.

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. On every plan, you can open Create > We'll build it for you, describe what you want, attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files such as your logo, photos or existing copy, and the Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. For a health coach that might be a checkout funnel for a 90 day reset, the program itself with weekly habits and check-ins, a website, or an email sequence. Nothing is invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. One recent build was for a menopause and midlife health coach starting from nothing, who got a five-page site in sage and cream with every button leading to a free 20-minute consultation. It does not cover filming videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. Read more about the white-glove build service.

Quick summary. Coachful is a coaching platform for coaches who sell and deliver programs. It handles payments through your own Stripe or Razorpay account with no Coachful platform fee, plus agreements, booking, habits, check-ins, courses, community and a website. It is not a clinical or HIPAA system and has no PayPal. To start, take the free trial and ask the team to build your first offer for you. More on how it fits this niche is on the Coachful for health coaches page and the coaching payment software overview.

2. Kajabi: strongest for course-led health brands

Kajabi homepage promoting its platform for courses, communities and coaching products
Kajabi's homepage in October 2026.

Kajabi suits a health coach whose business is already more audience than one-to-one: a gut health course with thousands of students, a membership community, a weekly newsletter. It combines courses, community, a website, funnels and email in one product, and its payment system sits underneath all of it.

On payments, Kajabi Payments in the US charges 2.9% + $0.30 on Basic, 2.8% + $0.30 on Growth and 2.7% + $0.30 on Pro, as listed in October 2026. If you use another processor (PayPal excepted), Kajabi adds its own fee of 2% on Basic, 1% on Growth or 0.5% on Pro on top of that provider's charges. That matters for a health coach selling a high-ticket package: on a large sale through your own Stripe account on Basic, the extra 2% is real money.

Kajabi pricing page comparing Basic, Growth and Pro plans with product and contact limits
Kajabi's pricing page in October 2026.

Plans start at Basic for $179/month ($143/month billed annually) with 5 products, 2,500 contacts, one community and no AI credits. Growth is $249/month ($199/month annually) with 50 products and 25,000 contacts; Pro is $499/month ($399/month annually). The trial is 14 days; a card is optional, and some features stay locked until a paid plan starts.

Where it falls short for health coaches: there is no habit tracking or daily client check-in. Coaching in Kajabi is a product or a community, not a per-client plan, so a client on your 12 week reset cannot log a morning check-in or see a habit streak. Public Trustpilot reviews sit at 3.4 from 2,347 reviews (seen October 2026). Our course platforms for health coaches roundup goes deeper on Kajabi's course side.

Pick it over Coachful if your revenue comes mainly from courses and a large email list, and individual client follow-through is not what you sell.

3. HoneyBook: proposals, contracts and invoices in one flow

HoneyBook homepage presenting its client management platform for service businesses
HoneyBook's homepage in October 2026.

HoneyBook is a client-management CRM for service businesses, and many health coaches who come from wellness or event work already know it. Its strength is the paperwork path: a lead fills in a form, gets a proposal, signs the contract and pays the first invoice in one sequence.

HoneyBook is also your processor; you cannot bring your own Stripe account. The October 2026 pricing page lists card processing as 2.7% + 10¢ in its FAQ but 2.9% + 25¢ in its plan comparison, so check the rate before you commit. ACH is 1.5%, and instant deposit costs 1%. Plans are Starter at $29/month billed annually, Essentials at $59/month ($49 annually) and Premium at $129/month ($109 annually), with a 30 day trial that needs no card.

HoneyBook pricing page with Starter, Essentials and Premium plans
HoneyBook's pricing page in October 2026.

For a health coach, the catch is that the scheduler and automations start on Essentials, so the real starting price is higher than Starter suggests. HoneyBook also stops at the invoice: there are no programs, courses, habits, check-ins or community. Once a client pays for your 90 day program, delivery happens somewhere else. Trustpilot shows 4.1 from 748 reviews (seen October 2026).

Pick it over Coachful if you mostly sell custom proposals to companies or wellness venues, such as corporate workshops, and want the strongest proposal-to-invoice workflow.

4. Stan Store: the quickest link-in-bio checkout

Stan Store homepage showing its link-in-bio storefront for creators
Stan Store's homepage in October 2026.

Health coaches who grow on Instagram and TikTok often start with Stan Store. It is a link-in-bio storefront where you can sell a meal plan PDF, a mini course, a membership or a paid discovery call within an afternoon.

Stan takes 0% of each sale ("keep 100% of every sale"), with standard Stripe or PayPal processing on top, as listed in October 2026. Creator costs $29/month ($25 annually) and Creator Pro costs $99/month ($79 annually). There is a 14 day trial, and the first month is charged when it ends. Trustpilot shows 4.7 from 2,205 reviews (seen October 2026), the highest score in this list.

Limits for a health coaching practice: email marketing, upsells, discount codes and affiliates are only on the $99 Creator Pro plan. There are no contracts, invoices or client records, so the signed scope agreement and intake have to live elsewhere. Nor are there programs with tasks, habits or check-ins. Stan sells the product well; it does not run the coaching.

Pick it over Coachful if you sell mostly low-ticket digital products to a social audience and do little one-to-one coaching.

5. Dubsado: flexible payments for workflow-minded coaches

Dubsado is a client workflow CRM: forms, contracts, invoices, a scheduler and automated workflows it calls Flows. Health coaches who like building detailed onboarding sequences (intake form, then contract, then invoice, then welcome email) appreciate how far you can customize it.

Its payment options are the widest in this list. Dubsado Payments runs on Stripe and supports cards, ACH, Klarna, Affirm and Tap to Pay, and you can also connect PayPal or Square, as listed in October 2026. No Dubsado platform fee is stated, and optional surcharging lets you pass card costs to clients where that is allowed. Starter is $35/month ($27.92 annually) with one active lead form and no scheduler or automations; Premier is $55/month ($43.75 annually) with the scheduler, Flows and Zapier. The trial runs 21 days with full Premier access and no card.

Dubsado says itself that it does not build websites and is not an email marketing platform. It also has no courses, community, habits or check-ins, and its mobile app is a companion to the desktop web app. Public review data is thin: Trustpilot showed a single review in October 2026, which tells you nothing either way.

Pick it over Coachful if you need PayPal, Square or buy-now-pay-later options at checkout and are happy to deliver programs in a separate tool.

6. Practice Better: for coaches who sit close to clinical work

Practice Better homepage presenting practice management for wellness practitioners
Practice Better's homepage in October 2026.

Practice Better is practice management for wellness and nutrition practitioners: scheduling, telehealth video, charting, billing, programs and a client portal. It belongs on this list because many health coaches work beside dietitians, functional medicine practitioners or nurses, and Practice Better is built in that practitioner style, with note templates and features such as ePrescribe add-ons that point at clinical users.

Payments run through Practice Better Payments, powered by Stripe. No platform fee is stated and processing rates are not listed on the pricing page, as listed in October 2026. The free Sprout plan covers 3 clients. Starter is $35/month ($25 annually) for 10 clients with billing and payments; Professional is $69/month ($59 annually) for 300 clients and adds deposits and payment plans; Plus is $99/month ($89 annually) for unlimited clients, evergreen self-paced programs, portal branding and SMS. The Professional card and table show slightly different savings figures, so check the live page.

For a health coach selling a 90 day package in installments, Professional is the realistic floor, because payment plans start there. Evergreen programs, branded portals and a custom URL wait until Plus. There is no website builder or funnel pages per older profile notes, and one practitioner per account below Team. Trustpilot shows 3.8 from 87 reviews (seen October 2026).

Pick it over Coachful if you work inside or alongside a clinical practice and need practitioner-style charting in the same tool as billing. Confirm its compliance terms with the vendor directly if you handle protected health information.

7. Paperbell: one flat price for solo admin

Paperbell homepage presenting its all-in-one admin tool for solo coaches
Paperbell's homepage in October 2026.

Paperbell aims at solo coaches who want admin handled without thinking about tiers. Booking, packages, payments, contracts, a client portal and a simple website come in one plan with unlimited clients, sessions and packages.

The single plan is $97/month or $80.83/month billed annually, as listed in October 2026, with "No additional transaction fees" beyond Stripe or PayPal processing. A 30 day money-back guarantee applies. The pricing page shows a "Try For Free" button without a length; an earlier help center note described a 7 day trial with the public site offline and client messages and SMS off during it.

For health coaching, Paperbell covers the sale and the session but not the weeks in between. Per older profile notes, it has no courses, no community and no goal or habit tracking, and there is no native mobile app, only the mobile browser. A client who bought your six month package can book and pay, but cannot log a habit or answer a morning check-in in Paperbell. Trustpilot shows 3.5 from 14 reviews (seen October 2026). For a full comparison, see our Paperbell alternatives page.

Pick it over Coachful if you run purely session-based coaching, want PayPal, and prefer one unchanging price regardless of features.

8. Podia: a simple shop that also sells sessions

Podia homepage presenting its storefront for courses, downloads and community
Podia's homepage in October 2026.

Podia is a straightforward storefront for courses, downloads, webinars, coaching sessions and community. A health coach might use it to sell a sugar-reset course, a recipe bundle and a few paid calls from one clean site.

The fee structure deserves attention. Mover costs $49/month ($42 annually) and charges a 5% Podia transaction fee; Shaker at $99/month ($84 annually) and Earthquaker at $179/month ($150 annually) charge 0%, with Stripe or PayPal processing (2.9% + 30¢ standard) on top, as listed in October 2026. Once your monthly sales pass roughly $1,000, the 5% on Mover costs about as much as the jump to Shaker, so run the numbers for your own volume. The trial is 14 days with no card.

Limits for health coaches: email subscriber allowances are small (100, 500 or 1,000 included depending on plan), there is no mobile app and no native video calls per older notes, and there are no client habits, check-ins or per-client plans. Trustpilot shows 4.1 from 153 reviews (seen October 2026).

Pick it over Coachful if you want a lightweight digital shop and run your coaching relationships by email and video calls in other tools.

9. Systeme.io: the budget funnel builder

Systeme.io is a low-cost marketing suite with funnels, email, courses, community, a blog and an affiliate program. For a new health coach testing a free guide funnel into a paid challenge, the free plan is hard to argue with.

It charges 0% transaction fees on every plan, including free, with Stripe or PayPal processing only, as listed in October 2026. The free plan includes 2,000 contacts, 3 funnels and 1 course and never expires. Startup is $17/month, Webinar is $47/month and Unlimited is $97/month; the page shows "$" without naming the currency. Trustpilot shows 4.9 from 8,696 reviews (seen October 2026).

What you give up: per older profile notes there is no native one-to-one scheduling with client records, no habits or check-ins, and no branded mobile app, and the course and community features are basic. You can take a payment for a 12 week program, but you will need a booking tool and a delivery tool next to it, and the signed agreement lives somewhere else again.

Pick it over Coachful if your budget is close to zero and your first goal is building an email list with funnels before you take on paying clients.

10. Everfit: movement-first coaching with paid add-ons

Everfit homepage presenting its coaching app for workouts, habits and nutrition
Everfit's homepage in October 2026.

Everfit is a fitness coaching app with workouts, habits, nutrition and messaging, priced by client count. Health coaches whose programs lean on movement (walking plans, mobility, strength basics) sometimes choose it for the training side.

As a payment platform, it is a step removed: payments, automation (Autoflow) and meal plans are paid add-ons, and transaction fees are not shown on the pricing page, as listed in October 2026. Starter is free for up to 5 clients. Pro starts at $19/month ($16 annually) for 5 clients and scales: 10 clients $29, 20 clients $49, 50 clients $95, 100 clients $140. Studio starts at $105/month for 50 clients. There is a 30 day trial with no card.

There is no course builder, website, funnels or email marketing, so a health coach selling a public program needs a separate storefront. Trustpilot shows 2.7 from 16 reviews (seen October 2026). Our payment platforms for online fitness coaches guide covers Everfit for training-first businesses.

Pick it over Coachful if your coaching is mostly training programs, you want a training-focused client app, and you are fine paying for the payments add-on separately.

11. ABC Trainerize: habit and nutrition tracking from the gym world

ABC Trainerize homepage presenting its personal training and nutrition app
ABC Trainerize's homepage in October 2026.

ABC Trainerize comes from personal training: workouts, habits, nutrition tracking and messaging, priced by client seats. Health coaches who share clients with trainers, or who run a studio, may meet it through that route.

The free Basic plan covers 1 client, Grow is $10/month for 2 clients, and Pro starts at $25/month for 5 clients with tiers at 15, 30, 50, 75, 100 and 200 clients, as listed in October 2026. Studio Plus starts at $275/month through sales. A 30 day trial with unlimited clients needs no card. Fees are not shown on the pricing page, and in-app payments require the Stripe Integrated Payments add-on, per older profile notes. We could not verify the price of the 15 and 40 client tiers from our notes, so check those on the live page.

Scheduling, selling products, payments, video and advanced nutrition are separate paid add-ons below Studio. There is no course builder, website, funnels or email marketing, and client data export is incomplete (no messages, photos or attachments) per older notes. Trustpilot shows 3.1 from 100 reviews (seen October 2026).

Pick it over Coachful if you work inside a gym or studio that already runs Trainerize and your role is the habit and nutrition layer for its members.

12. Bonsai: invoicing for coaches who also consult

Bonsai is business management for freelancers and agencies: proposals, contracts, invoices, time tracking and projects. A health coach who also writes for wellness brands or consults for employers might run all of that billing from one place.

Plans are priced per user: Basic is $15/month ($9 annually) but has no invoices or payments; Essentials at $25/month ($19 annually) adds invoices, payments, contracts, scheduling and a client portal; Premium is $39/month ($29 annually), as listed in October 2026. Per older profile notes and the help center, Bonsai Payments charges 2.9% + $0.30 on cards and 1% on ACH, and using your own Stripe or PayPal where Bonsai Payments is available adds a 1% platform fee; we could not re-read that help page this month. The trial is 7 days.

It has no courses, community, habits, check-ins or coaching programs, and custom domains are marked as expected in 2026. Trustpilot shows 4.3 from 641 reviews (seen October 2026).

Pick it over Coachful if most of your income is project or hourly consulting billed to companies, and coaching is a side line.

How do the features compare side by side?

The pattern is clear in one table: the storefronts and CRMs handle the sale, the fitness apps handle delivery, and only a coaching platform covers both.

Several of the cheaper rows look cheaper than they are. If you add an e-sign tool, a scheduler and a habit app at even modest prices each, the stack can pass the cost of an all-in-one plan, and your client is juggling three logins.

How does a health coach set up payments in Coachful, step by step?

Here is the setup for a typical offer: a 12 week habit reset, sold as a one-time payment or a three-part payment plan, with a free discovery call in front of it. Plan an afternoon, or hand the build to the white-glove team.

  1. Connect Stripe. Link your own Stripe Connect account (or Razorpay if you are in India). Turn on Apple Pay and Google Pay, and enable Stripe Tax if you need to collect sales tax or VAT. Ask your accountant which applies to you.
  2. Write your agreement. Set up a coaching agreement for e-signature that covers the program length, payment terms, the refund policy, cancellation rules, and your scope line: coaching supports behavior change and is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Have a local attorney review it.
  3. Build the program. Create a 12 week program with weekly goals and daily tasks. Add habits such as water, steps, a vegetable target or a wind-down routine, plus a morning and evening check-in. Start from one of the 40+ program templates if you prefer. If you coach nutrition, add the Fitness & Nutrition pack's targets, meal plans and recipes.
  4. Create the offer. Set a full-pay price and a three-installment payment plan for the same program. Choose your price based on the hours you will spend, your session count and what comparable coaches in your market charge. Add a coupon for past clients and an order bump such as a recipe guide.
  5. Set up the discovery call. Create a free booking type with intake questions on current habits, goals and any health conditions. Use the answers to spot clients you should refer out before you sell them anything.
  6. Build the funnel. Use a booking funnel template that sends visitors to the discovery call, and a checkout funnel for the program. Add your Meta Pixel or GA4 if you run ads.
  7. Automate the welcome. On purchase, the client signs the agreement, enrolls in the program, joins the cohort group if it is a group reset, and receives your welcome email sequence.
  8. Watch status, not just revenue. Check the client list weekly. A client marked quiet or at risk in week four needs a message from you, ideally before their next installment.

If any of those steps feel slow, request the build: describe the offer, attach your logo and existing copy, and the team builds the funnel, program or emails in your account.

What mistakes should health coaches avoid when choosing a payment platform?

  • Choosing on processing fees alone. A 0.2% difference in card rates matters far less than a client who stops engaging in week three because the program lives in a different app.
  • Missing the hidden platform fee. Kajabi's extra fee on outside processors, Podia's 5% on Mover and Bonsai's 1% on your own Stripe all sit on top of processing. Read the fee line before the plan line.
  • Selling a package with no signed agreement. Without a signed scope and refund policy, a dispute becomes your word against the client's. Get the signature before session one.
  • Using medical language at checkout. Words like "treat", "cure" or "reverse" on a sales page blur the line between coaching and care. Describe outcomes in habit and lifestyle terms, and keep your referral rules in the agreement.
  • Promising insurance or reimbursement. Do not tell clients a program is reimbursable. If they ask, point them to their plan administrator and keep your invoices accurate.
  • Storing clinical data in a coaching tool. If you need to keep medical records or sign a BAA, use a clinical system for that part of the work. Coachful is not HIPAA-certified.
  • Ignoring payment plan failures. Installment clients who miss a payment usually stopped engaging first. Pick a platform that shows engagement next to payment status.
  • Forgetting estimated taxes. Set aside part of each payment. The IRS guidance on estimated taxes linked above explains the quarterly schedule for US coaches.

Which payment platform should a health coach choose?

Choose Coachful if you sell programs and want payment, agreement, booking, habits and check-ins in one place with no Coachful platform fee. It is the only tool here where a client's payment plan, signed agreement and morning check-in sit on the same record.

The alternatives win in narrower cases. Kajabi is the course-and-audience pick. HoneyBook and Dubsado are strongest for proposals, contracts and flexible payment methods, Dubsado especially if you need PayPal, Square or Klarna. Stan Store is the fastest social storefront. Practice Better fits coaches working beside clinicians. Paperbell suits session-only solo coaches who want one flat price. Systeme.io is the budget funnel builder. Everfit and Trainerize suit training-first work, and Bonsai suits coaches whose main income is consulting.

If you are still unsure, start with the deciding question from the top: when a client pays you, where does the coaching happen next? If the answer is "in another app", you are choosing a stack, not a platform.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best payment platform for health coaches?

For health coaches who sell multi-week programs, Coachful ranks first because payments, payment plans, signed agreements, booking and habit and check-in delivery share one login, with no Coachful platform fee. If you mainly sell digital products to a social audience, Stan Store is simpler. If you work inside a clinical practice, look at Practice Better.

Can health coaches offer payment plans?

Yes. Coachful, Dubsado and Practice Better (Professional and up) document payment plans or deposits, and Paperbell sells packages through its own checkout. Always put the installment schedule and what happens on a missed payment in your signed agreement.

Does Coachful support PayPal?

No. Coachful takes payments through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account, including Apple Pay and Google Pay. If PayPal is essential for your clients, Dubsado, Paperbell, Stan Store, Podia and Systeme.io all list PayPal as an option.

Is Coachful HIPAA compliant?

No. Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and does not sign a business associate agreement, so it is not meant for clinical records or insurance billing. Health coaches who do not provide medical care typically use it for coaching delivery, and keep any clinical records in a dedicated clinical system.

Can health coaches bill insurance or accept HSA and FSA cards?

Coaching is not medical treatment, and none of the platforms here is built for insurance billing. Whether a client can use a health account card for coaching depends on their plan, so do not promise reimbursement. Send them to their plan administrator and check your own position with an accountant.

Which platform has the lowest fees for health coaches?

Coachful, Stan Store and Systeme.io all charge 0% platform fees on top of processing, and Paperbell and Dubsado state no added fee. Kajabi adds 0.5% to 2% when you use another processor, and Podia's Mover plan takes 5%. Processing itself, usually around 3% per card charge, applies everywhere.

What is Coachful's free white-glove service?

On every plan, you can ask the Coachful team to build something inside your account: a website, a checkout funnel, a program, a course outline, an email sequence and more. You attach up to 8 links and 10 files, and the build usually arrives within about 24 hours. It does not include filming videos, logo design or ad management, and nothing is invented, such as testimonials or credentials.

Do I need a contract before taking payment as a health coach?

You should have a signed agreement before the first session. It should cover the program length, payment terms, refunds, cancellations and a clear scope line that coaching is not medical care. Laws vary by state and country, so have a local attorney review your template.

Should I use a fitness app like Everfit or Trainerize to take payments?

Only if your coaching is mostly training. Both list payments as an add-on and neither has a website, funnels or email marketing, so you would still need a storefront. Health coaches who focus on habits, nutrition and lifestyle usually get more from a coaching platform.

How long does it take to set up payments for a health coaching program?

Connecting Stripe takes minutes. Building the offer, agreement, program and funnel is usually an afternoon in an all-in-one platform, longer if you are connecting several tools. In Coachful you can also request the white-glove build and review it once it lands in your account.
