GoHighLevel vs HoneyBook for Coaches: 2026 Comparison

GoHighLevel vs HoneyBook for Coaches: 2026 Comparison

GoHighLevel vs HoneyBook comes down to what you need software to do. GoHighLevel is an agency-grade marketing machine: funnels, SMS, email, pipelines and automations, priced from $97 a month as listed in October 2026. HoneyBook is a tidy client back office for proposals, contracts, invoices and scheduling, priced from $29 a month billed annually. If your bottleneck is getting leads, GoHighLevel is stronger. If your bottleneck is paperwork and getting paid, HoneyBook is simpler. Neither one delivers coaching between sessions, which is where most coaches actually spend their week.

This guide compares the two on price, features, setup effort and what your clients see, using what each vendor documents on its own pricing page (checked October 2026) and what public reviewers report. We make Coachful, a coaching platform, so we also cover it as a third option and say plainly where it beats both and where it does not.

What is the short answer by use case?

Pick GoHighLevel if you run paid ads, live on SMS follow-up and want a multi-stage sales pipeline. Pick HoneyBook if you sell a handful of packages and mostly need clean contracts and invoices. Pick neither if your clients need structured support between calls.

  • You run an agency or plan to resell software to other coaches: GoHighLevel. Sub-accounts and SaaS Mode on Agency Pro were built for exactly this, and HoneyBook has nothing comparable.
  • You close high-ticket offers through ad funnels and sales calls: GoHighLevel. Its pipelines, SMS and funnel builder are the core of the product.
  • You are a solo coach selling 1:1 packages by referral: HoneyBook is easier to set up, but you will still need somewhere to deliver the coaching itself.
  • You want proposals that turn into a signed contract and first invoice in one step: HoneyBook. That flow is its signature feature.
  • You deliver multi-week programs with habits, check-ins, courses or a group: neither tool was built for this. A coaching platform such as Coachful covers delivery and the business side in one login.

If you are already leaning toward replacing one of them, our pages on the GoHighLevel alternative and the HoneyBook alternative go deeper on switching.

How do GoHighLevel and HoneyBook compare side by side?

We ranked on four criteria that matter most to coaches: one login for the whole client journey, delivery between sessions, total stack cost, and setup effort (including whether someone will build it for you). On those criteria Coachful ranks first, GoHighLevel second for marketing-heavy coaches, and HoneyBook third.

GoHighLevel (the company calls itself HighLevel) is an all-in-one marketing CRM built around sub-accounts. An agency gets one account and creates a sub-account for each client business. A solo coach on the Starter plan simply uses one of the three included sub-accounts for their own practice. Everything else follows from that design: it is powerful, it has a lot of surface area, and it assumes someone on the team enjoys configuring software.

HoneyBook is a client-management CRM for service businesses: including coaches. Its center of gravity is the moment a lead becomes a paying client. You send a proposal, the client picks a package, signs, and pays, all inside one HoneyBook file. After that, HoneyBook steps back. There is no program, course or habit layer, so the coaching relationship happens somewhere else.

How much do GoHighLevel and HoneyBook cost in 2026?

GoHighLevel costs $97, $297 or $497 a month, and HoneyBook costs $29, $49 or $109 a month on annual billing, as listed in October 2026. The headline gap is large, but the real gap depends on usage fees, add-ons and payment processing.

What GoHighLevel adds on top of the plan price

GoHighLevel's annual figures appear on its pricing page as yearly totals ($970, $2,970, $4,970); the per-month numbers above are those totals divided by 12. Usage is billed separately: SMS, email, phone numbers and AI are metered, with per-unit rates on separate pricing guides rather than the main pricing page. The add-on list in October 2026 includes:

  • AI Employee: $50 a month (Growth) or $97 a month (Unlimited) per sub-account
  • Branded Client Portal App: $49 a month per sub-account
  • White-label mobile app: $497 a month
  • HIPAA compliance: $297 a month (included only on custom-priced Enterprise)
  • WhatsApp: $10 a month per sub-account
  • SEO (Search Atlas): $79 a month per sub-account
  • Premium support: $500 a month
  • Dedicated email IP: $59 a month per IP

The trial is 14 days on any plan, and billing starts automatically when it ends unless you cancel. Usage-based telecom fees can apply during the trial. For a line-by-line breakdown, see our GoHighLevel pricing guide.

HoneyBook pricing page with Starter, Essentials and Premium plans
HoneyBook's pricing page in October 2026.

What HoneyBook adds on top of the plan price

HoneyBook's page shows annual-billed prices with the monthly prices struck through as "25% off" references, and it runs time-limited promotions, so the number you see may differ week to week. Starter's monthly-billed price is not shown. The bigger cost is processing: HoneyBook is your payment processor, and you cannot bring your own Stripe or PayPal. The page lists card fees inconsistently (2.7% + 10¢ in the FAQ, 2.9% + 25¢ in the plan comparison), ACH at 1.5%, and instant deposit at 1%. HoneyBook offers a 30-day free trial with no credit card, a 60-day money-back guarantee, and a free onboarding specialist for the first 90 days. An older profile of the company notes prices rose in February 2025 from $19, $39 and $79 to $36, $59 and $129 monthly. More detail is in our HoneyBook pricing guide.

A worked cost example

Here is an illustrative example, not a quote. Say a coach bills $8,000 a month to clients by card and needs a scheduler and automations.

  • HoneyBook Essentials, annual: $49 a month, plus card processing. At 2.9% + 25¢ on 16 payments of $500, processing is about $236; at 2.7% + 10¢ it is about $218. Then add a separate course or community tool if you run programs.
  • GoHighLevel Starter, monthly: $97 a month, plus your Stripe processing, plus metered SMS and email usage, plus any add-ons such as the $49 Branded Client Portal App. Habits and check-ins still need a workaround.

The plan price is rarely the whole bill. Add up everything you would still need to buy to run the full client journey before you compare.

How do their CRM and sales pipelines compare?

GoHighLevel has the stronger sales CRM by a wide margin. HoneyBook organizes clients by project, which suits one-off service work better than an ongoing sales process.

GoHighLevel's opportunities view lets you build multi-stage pipelines and move deals between stages. Contacts and users are unlimited on every plan. For a coach running a sales team, or an agency managing many client businesses, this is the main reason to choose it. Contacts, opportunities and conversations export to CSV.

HoneyBook tracks inquiries through lead forms (2 live forms on Starter, 10 on Essentials, unlimited on Premium) and moves each client through a project. It works well when every client buys a defined package. It is less suited to nurturing a long list of prospects over months.

Coachful sits between them. It has a Prospects page with lead source and lead stage, and an Intakes page that tracks discovery calls and conversion. It does not have a multi-stage sales deal board for large teams, and it has no Salesforce or HubSpot integration. If you manage a sales floor, GoHighLevel is the better fit for that part of the business. More on how Coachful handles client records is on our coaching CRM page.

Which is better for marketing automation, email and SMS?

GoHighLevel, clearly. Marketing automation is what it was built for, while HoneyBook's automations are mostly about client paperwork.

GoHighLevel bundles funnels, websites, email campaigns, SMS, phone and multi-step workflows. The trade-off is that SMS, email and phone are metered, and the number of modules makes the first setup a real project.

HoneyBook's automations (Essentials and up) send the next file, reminder or follow-up in a client project. Essentials adds SMS reminders. There is no funnel builder and no broadcast email suite comparable to GoHighLevel's.

Coachful includes email lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences with triggers, delays, branching and A/B splits, plus booking, application, lead-magnet and checkout funnels with pixel and UTM tracking. Session reminders go out by email, by SMS 24 hours before and by WhatsApp one hour before once messaging is enabled. It does not try to be a full telecom stack with phone numbers and call tracking the way GoHighLevel does.

How do scheduling and calendars compare?

Both tools offer booking, but HoneyBook's scheduler is not on its Starter plan and GoHighLevel has no built-in video rooms.

GoHighLevel's calendars handle booking, with reminders sent through its workflows. Video calls run through Zoom or Google Meet links. HoneyBook's scheduler arrives on Essentials, with SMS reminders on the same plan.

Coachful's booking pages include availability rules, buffers, minimum notice and time-zone detection, with two-way Google, Apple/iCloud and Outlook sync. Sessions can use built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet or Teams links. You can sell paid sessions or session credits, ask intake questions at booking, and assign multi-coach session types round-robin or to the least busy coach. It does not have routing forms that choose a host from form answers. See our scheduling software page for the full picture.

How do contracts, invoices and payments compare?

HoneyBook has the most polished proposal-to-payment flow. GoHighLevel offers more payment processor choice. Coachful puts the agreement, payment and program in the same client record.

HoneyBook's strength is the combined file: a proposal, contract and invoice that a client completes in one sitting. The limit is that payments must run through HoneyBook Payments, so you cannot use your existing Stripe account, and you pay its rates.

GoHighLevel supports Stripe, PayPal and other processors listed on its pricing page, with no HighLevel fee on sales. Invoicing and contracts are included.

Coachful sends coaching agreements for e-signature before the first call and stores them on the client record. Payments run through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account: one-time, subscriptions, payment plans, order bumps, coupons, refunds, Apple Pay and Google Pay, with Stripe Tax. Each transaction gets an invoice, and you can send manual invoices. There is no Coachful platform fee (0% since August 2026). There is no PayPal. Details are on our coaching contracts page, and if HoneyBook is your current invoicing tool, our guide to invoicing coaching clients without HoneyBook walks through the switch.

Can either tool deliver coaching between sessions?

No, not natively. GoHighLevel has courses and communities but no habits, check-ins or per-client coaching plans. HoneyBook has none of these.

This is the gap that matters most for coaches and the one marketing comparisons usually skip. Results in coaching tend to come from what clients do between calls: the habit they keep, the check-in they fill in on a Tuesday night, the weekly goal they hit. Software that only handles the sale leaves that work to email threads, shared documents and memory.

In GoHighLevel, a coach can host a course and a community. Simulating habit tracking or daily check-ins means building workflows and forms by hand, and the client sees a form, not a progress view. In HoneyBook, the client portal shows files, invoices and contracts. Delivery happens elsewhere.

Coachful was built for this part. Multi-week programs carry weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks. Courses with drip and completion tracking, downloads, videos and AI tools are delivered into the client's branded home. Cohort groups are created automatically when someone enrolls in a program. The AI Coach, an AI version of the coach that you configure, lets selected clients ask questions between sessions.

What does the client experience look like in each tool?

In HoneyBook, the client sees clean, branded files and a portal for documents and payments. In GoHighLevel, the client sees funnels, emails, texts and, if you pay for it, a branded portal app. In Coachful, the client gets one app for everything.

HoneyBook's client side is built around its files: the client reviews a proposal, signs and pays in one place, and the portal keeps files together. Essentials removes the "Powered by HoneyBook" branding. But once the contract is signed, the client's experience of your coaching moves to whatever tools you use for sessions and follow-up.

GoHighLevel's client side depends on how well the account was built. A well-configured account feels coherent; a rushed one sends clients through mismatched pages and logins. The Branded Client Portal App costs $49 a month per sub-account, and a fully white-labeled mobile app costs $497 a month.

Coachful gives the client one branded home and app, under the Coachful listing with your branding (not your own App Store account). From there they book sessions, sign agreements, pay, work through programs and courses, log habits and check-ins, and join the community. The coach sees all of it on one client record with goals, check-ins, notes, intake answers, payments and an AI briefing before each session.

How hard is each tool to set up and learn?

HoneyBook is faster to set up. GoHighLevel can take weeks, and many coaches pay someone to configure it.

GoHighLevel's scope is its strength and its setup cost. CRM, funnels, websites, calendars, email and SMS, workflows, courses and communities each need configuring. GoHighLevel offers 24/7 support on every plan, a $500-a-month premium support add-on and a $97-a-month certification program, which says something about the learning curve. Our GoHighLevel review covers what reviewers report in more detail.

HoneyBook is designed for people who do not want to learn software. Templates and the free onboarding specialist help you get proposals and contracts live quickly. The main constraints are the required payment processor and plan features held back for Essentials. See our HoneyBook review.

Coachful covers more ground than HoneyBook, so it has more to set up. That is why the Coachful team will build your site, funnels, programs and more inside your account for free (see below), and clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding.

Which should you pick for which kind of coach?

Match the tool to where your business actually leaks time or money. Here is how the three line up for common coaching models.

Coach typeBest fitWhy
CoachfulProgram-based coaches, solo or small teamDelivery, payments, booking, website and email in one login and one client app

Two edge cases deserve a mention. If you need HIPAA compliance, GoHighLevel offers it as a $297-a-month add-on. HoneyBook lists no HIPAA option, and Coachful is not HIPAA-certified, so neither is the place for clinical records. And if you already pay for a course platform and only need paperwork, HoneyBook plus that platform can work, as long as you accept two logins for your clients. For more alternatives on each side, see the top GoHighLevel alternatives for coaches and the top HoneyBook alternatives for coaches.

Is there a third option? When Coachful beats both, and when it does not

Coachful is the third option for coaches who want one platform for the whole client journey instead of a marketing CRM or a paperwork tool plus several delivery apps. It is a coaching platform, built for coaches who deliver programs, solo coaches growing into a small team, and anyone replacing four to six tools.

One membership covers booking, payments, contracts, programs with habits and check-ins, courses, community, a website with funnels and email, and Michelle, the built-in AI assistant. Michelle works from your live practice data: it builds programs, drafts emails and content, summarizes recorded sessions and briefs you before each one. Questions and planning are included in the membership; confirmed builds and changes use AI credits. Coachful is based in Tallinn, Estonia, and holds a Trustpilot rating of 4.5 from 21 reviews.

Where Coachful beats both

  • Delivery between sessions: programs, habits, check-ins, goals and streaks that neither GoHighLevel nor HoneyBook offers.
  • One login for coach and client: the agreement, payment, sessions and program live on the same record, and the client uses one branded app.
  • Payment freedom with no platform fee: your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account, unlike HoneyBook's required processor.
  • Predictable cost: flat monthly plans with no metered SMS or email pricing to track (Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients for a 15-client practice).
  • Setup done for you: the free white-glove build, explained below.

Where Coachful does not beat them

  • Sales pipelines: no multi-stage deal board for large teams and no Salesforce or HubSpot sync. GoHighLevel wins here.
  • Agency resale: no sub-accounts or SaaS Mode. GoHighLevel wins.
  • Phone and telecom: no call tracking or phone numbers. GoHighLevel wins.
  • PayPal: not supported. GoHighLevel supports it.
  • HIPAA: Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and does not sign a BAA. It is not for clinical record-keeping or insurance billing.
  • Permanent free plan: there is none; there is a free trial.
  • Your own App Store listing: the client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding.

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. From Create, choose "We'll build it for you · FREE" and describe what you want: a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline, email sequence, form, lead quiz, event or automation. Attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files such as logos, photos, brand guides and copy. The Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. Nothing is invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. Read more about the free white-glove service.

Recent anonymized builds give a sense of scope. A menopause and midlife health coach starting from nothing got a five-page site in sage and cream with every button leading to a free 20-minute consultation. A business mentor for beauty professionals got a 12-week mentorship sales page, a free start-up guide funnel and rewritten follow-up emails. A leadership coach with a Squarespace renewal days away got one clean homepage with a repeated "talk with me" button. For coaches coming from GoHighLevel, where configuration is the main hurdle, this matters more than any single feature.

How to start: open a free trial, then request a white-glove build of whatever you need first, usually the website or your main program. Coachful is for coaches; it is not a general website builder for non-coaching sites, a course marketplace, or a clinical system.

What happens to your data if you leave?

Both tools let you export contacts, but neither exports your full setup in a reusable form.

GoHighLevel exports contacts with custom fields, opportunities and conversations to CSV. Funnels, sites and workflows are portable only as snapshots inside HighLevel, and data becomes inaccessible after cancellation, so export before you cancel. HoneyBook exports contacts and clients to CSV; smart files and templates are not portable in a reusable format.

Coachful exports full client data as a ZIP: roster, notes, check-ins, goals, habits, sessions and form responses, plus course export. It is GDPR-ready.

Frequently asked questions

Is GoHighLevel or HoneyBook better for coaches?

It depends on your bottleneck. GoHighLevel is better for coaches who rely on ad funnels, SMS and sales pipelines. HoneyBook is better for solo coaches who mainly need proposals, contracts and invoices. Neither handles program delivery, habits or check-ins, so coaches who run programs often choose a coaching platform instead.

Is GoHighLevel more expensive than HoneyBook?

Yes. As listed in October 2026, GoHighLevel starts at $97 a month while HoneyBook starts at $29 a month billed annually. GoHighLevel also meters SMS, email, phone and AI usage. HoneyBook's extra cost comes mainly from card processing through HoneyBook Payments.

Can I use my own Stripe account with HoneyBook?

No. HoneyBook processes payments itself through HoneyBook Payments (cards and ACH). GoHighLevel supports Stripe, PayPal and other processors. Coachful uses your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account with no platform fee.

Does GoHighLevel have habit tracking or client check-ins?

Not natively. GoHighLevel offers courses and communities, but habit tracking, daily check-ins and per-client coaching plans would have to be simulated with workflows and forms. Coachful includes habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals and streaks.

Which has a free trial, GoHighLevel or HoneyBook?

Both. GoHighLevel offers 14 days free on any plan, with billing starting automatically at the end unless you cancel. HoneyBook offers 30 days free with no credit card required, plus a 60-day money-back guarantee. Neither has a permanent free plan.

Is GoHighLevel or HoneyBook HIPAA compliant?

GoHighLevel offers HIPAA compliance as a $297-a-month add-on, included on its custom-priced Enterprise plan. HoneyBook's pricing page lists no HIPAA option. Coachful is not HIPAA-certified, so clinical records belong in a clinical system.

Can I replace both GoHighLevel and HoneyBook with one tool?

For most solo and small-team coaches, yes. Coachful covers booking, payments, contracts, website, funnels, email and program delivery in one login. If you need a multi-stage sales deal board for a large team, phone numbers or agency sub-accounts, GoHighLevel still does those better.

What is Coachful's free white-glove service?

The Coachful team builds things for you inside your own account at no charge on every plan: a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline, email sequence and more. You describe what you want and attach references, and it is usually done within about 24 hours. It does not cover video recording, logo design or ad management.

Does Coachful have a sales pipeline like GoHighLevel?

Coachful has a Prospects page with lead source and stage and an Intakes page that tracks discovery calls and conversion. It does not have a multi-stage sales deal board built for large teams, and it does not integrate with Salesforce or HubSpot. It connects to other tools through Zapier.

How do I move from HoneyBook or GoHighLevel to Coachful?

Export your contacts to CSV first, especially from GoHighLevel, where data becomes inaccessible after cancellation. Coachful imports clients, programs and content for you during onboarding, and the white-glove team can rebuild your site and funnels. Our HoneyBook migration guide covers the steps.
