Best Platform for Recovery Coaches: 5 Options Ranked

Best Platform for Recovery Coaches: 5 Options Ranked

The best platform for recovery coaches is the one that carries a client through the hours between sessions, because that is where recovery work actually happens. A weekly call matters, but the morning check-in, the evening reflection, the habit that holds on a hard Tuesday and the group that answers at 9 pm matter just as much. So the deciding question is simple: can one platform sell your program, collect the agreement and payment, deliver daily structure and host your community, without you stitching four tools together?

Our pick is Coachful. It runs checkout, coaching agreements, booking, multi-week programs with daily check-ins and habits, courses, a cohort community and your website under one login, with one branded app for your clients. We make Coachful, so weigh that, and read the four alternatives below: each is a real option for a specific kind of recovery coaching business, and we say plainly when one of them fits better.

A note on scope before anything else. Recovery coaching is peer and lifestyle support, not addiction treatment, detox, therapy or medical care. Whatever platform you choose, your intake and your agreement should say so, and your process should include when and how you refer a client to licensed care. If a client is in crisis in the US, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) and the SAMHSA National Helpline (1-800-662-4357) are the right first referrals.

What do recovery coaches sell and deliver online?

Most recovery coaches sell structured support over time rather than single sessions. The platform has to handle recurring payments, daily touchpoints and a group, often all inside the same offer. Here are the shapes we see most often in this niche (the names and formats are illustrative examples, not real businesses):

  • An early-recovery program. For example, a 90-day package with a weekly 1:1 call, a morning intention check-in, an evening reflection, three or four daily habits and a private message line to the coach.
  • A monthly membership. Ongoing accountability after the first 90 days: a group call twice a month, a community feed, and a library of short lessons on cravings, routines and relationships.
  • A small cohort. Eight to twelve people starting on the same date, moving through the same weekly themes, with a shared group chat and a weekly live session.
  • A family recovery course. A self-paced course for partners and parents on boundaries, communication and self-care, often sold alongside a few 1:1 sessions.
  • A low-cost entry point. A lead magnet such as a "first 30 days" worksheet or a short email series that leads into a discovery call.

Each of these needs a checkout, an agreement that states your scope, somewhere for the client to show up every day, and a way for you to notice when someone goes quiet. That last point is specific to recovery: a client who stops checking in is telling you something, and a platform that surfaces silence early is worth more than one with prettier course pages. If you are still building your practice, our guide on how to become a recovery coach covers certification and scope; this article assumes you are ready to sell.

One distinction before the ranking. This article is about selling and delivering coaching online. If your main question is admin (notes, scheduling, invoicing), our companion piece on the best software for recovery coaches ranks tools on that instead.

Thinking of launching your coaching business?

Answer a few questions and Coachful builds it around you: your website, programs, booking and payments. Ready in minutes.

Build your platform

Which platforms are worth a look? The five at a glance

Ranked on four criteria: one login for the whole client journey, delivery between sessions (check-ins, habits, community), total monthly cost of the stack, and setup effort, including whether someone will build it for you.

5. PodiaA simple storefront for a course plus a few calls$49/mo (Mover)NoNo native video calls; small email allowance

Vendor prices are as listed in October 2026 on monthly billing; annual billing is cheaper for every vendor shown.

How did we choose and rank these platforms?

We looked for platforms a solo or small-team recovery coach could run an entire paid offer on, then ranked them by how much of the job they cover without extra tools. We did not test these products hands-on. The comparison relies on what each vendor documents on its own pricing and feature pages in October 2026 and on what public reviewers report.

Four questions drove the order:

  1. How much of selling and delivery runs in one place? Checkout, agreement, booking, program, community and website. Every tool you add is another login for a client who may already find structure hard.
  2. What does the client do between sessions? Recovery coaching depends on small daily actions. We favoured platforms with check-ins, habits and a way for the coach to see who has gone quiet.
  3. What does the whole stack cost? Not just the headline plan: transaction fees, add-ons, and the scheduler or community tool you would need to bolt on.
  4. How hard is setup? Many recovery coaches come to this work from lived experience, not marketing. A platform that will build your site and first program for you saves weeks.

We left out tools built for clinical settings, since coaching is not treatment, and tools that cannot take payment at all. We also skipped link-in-bio storefronts that have no way to deliver a program with daily tasks.

1. Coachful: the whole recovery program under one login

A laptop showing Coachful's coaching flows library next to a tablet showing a client community feed
Coachful's coaching flows library with morning and evening check-ins on the laptop, and the client community feed on the tablet.

Coachful is a coaching platform that covers booking, payments, coaching agreements, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and a built-in AI assistant. You get one login; your clients get one app carrying your branding. For a recovery coach, the value is less any single feature than the fact that the daily part of the work lives in the same place as the sale and the call.

What a client in early recovery sees each day

Programs in Coachful run over multiple weeks, with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks. A morning check-in can ask for an intention and a mood; the evening one can ask what was hard and what helped. Habits such as a walk, a meeting, a call to a sponsor or ten minutes of journaling show up as cards the client ticks off.

A practical note on streaks: they motivate many people, but in recovery a broken streak can feel like a relapse. Consider framing habits as "days practised this month" in your copy, and tell clients in week one that a missed day is information, not failure.

The short walkthrough below shows how check-ins are set up and what the client answers.

Clients reach everything from their coaching hub: the next session, their program, progress and documents. That matters when someone is having a rough week and needs to find the next step without hunting through emails.

How you spot a client going quiet

Each client record holds goals, check-ins, habits, notes, intake answers, tags, payments and sessions, plus an AI briefing before each session. Coachful also labels each client as thriving, active, quiet or at risk. In recovery coaching, a quiet label is the cue to send a message today rather than wait for the next call.

Coachful's client dashboard with demo clients, status tags and insight metrics such as task completion and check-in rate.

Michelle, the built-in AI assistant, works from that live practice data. She can brief you before a session, draft a check-in message, summarize a recorded session or build out a program outline. Questions and planning are included in your Coachful membership; confirmed builds and changes use AI credits. There is also an AI Coach option: an AI version of you that selected clients can chat with between sessions, configured by you. For recovery work, think carefully about whether and for whom you switch that on, and make your escalation and referral path clear in its instructions.

Selling the program and protecting your scope

Payments run through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account: one-time payments, subscriptions, payment plans, order bumps, coupons, refunds, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Coachful takes a 0% platform fee (since August 2026), so you pay only Stripe or Razorpay processing. Funnels cover booking, application, lead-magnet and checkout flows, with pixels and UTM tracking.

Coaching agreements with e-signature go out before the first call and are stored on the client record. For a recovery coach that is where your scope statement lives: coaching is not treatment, what you will do if you are worried about a client's safety, and when you will refer. See coaching contracts for how agreements work, and coaching payment software for checkout options.

Groups, cohorts and the website

When a client enrolls in a program, Coachful creates the cohort group automatically, so a twelve-person spring cohort gets its own space without manual setup. There is also a community feed, group chat, direct messages, video events, group calls and webinars. More on that in group coaching software and the community platform page.

The website builder is section-based, with a blog, custom domain, SEO settings and 30 designed homepage templates, plus an Import website option if you already have a site. Calm wellness templates suit this niche well.

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. From Create, choose "We'll build it for you · FREE", describe what you need (a website, an application funnel, a 90-day program, a course outline, an email sequence) and attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files such as your logo, photos or existing copy. The Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. Nothing is invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. One recent build: a menopause and midlife health coach starting from nothing got a five-page site in sage and cream with every button leading to a 20-minute consultation. Read more about the white-glove service.

Where Coachful falls short

Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and does not sign a BAA, so it is not for clinical record-keeping, insurance billing, or recovery coaches working inside a treatment program that requires those protections (the HHS HIPAA guidance explains who is covered). It has no PayPal and no permanent free plan. The client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding rather than under your own App Store account. It is not a course marketplace and does not support third-party plugins.

Price: flat monthly plans, with lower plans capping the number of clients and Pro unlimited (current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients). Monthly plans cancel in one click, and there is a free trial.

2. Kajabi: strong for courses and memberships, light on daily coaching

Kajabi homepage with its headline and sign-up call to action, October 2026
Kajabi's homepage in October 2026.

Kajabi is a course, community, website, funnel and email platform built for selling knowledge products. If your recovery business is mostly a library of recorded lessons and a paid membership, with very little 1:1 work, it is a mature and well-known choice.

The parts that work for a recovery membership

Kajabi bundles products (courses, memberships), a community, a website and email marketing on one bill. A coach could sell a "first year of recovery" course, run a members' community and send a weekly newsletter without leaving it. Funnels and email are a genuine strength and the reason many course creators start here.

Plan limits and fees as listed in October 2026

  • Basic: $179/mo ($143/mo billed annually), 5 products, 2,500 contacts, 1 community, 0 AI credits.
  • Growth: $249/mo ($199/mo annually), 50 products, 25,000 contacts, 500 AI credits.
  • Pro: $499/mo ($399/mo annually), unlimited products, 100,000 contacts, 3 communities.
  • Kajabi Payments in the US: 2.9% + $0.30 on Basic, slightly lower on higher plans. Using another processor (other than PayPal) adds a Kajabi fee of 2% on Basic, 1% on Growth and 0.5% on Pro.
  • Trial: 14 days according to Kajabi's help center; a card is optional, and some features stay locked until you pay.

What a recovery coach would miss

Kajabi has no habit tracking or daily client check-ins, and coaching there takes the form of products and communities rather than a plan per client. You cannot see that one client has stopped logging their evening reflection, because there is no reflection to log. Recovery coaches who rely on daily structure tend to add a separate habit app or a shared form, which means another login for the client. On Trustpilot, Kajabi showed 3.4 from 2,347 reviews in October 2026.

Pick it over Coachful if your business is mainly recorded courses and a large email list, 1:1 coaching is a small add-on, and you want one of the most established course-marketing ecosystems.

3. Mighty Networks: when the community is the product

Mighty Networks homepage with its headline and sign-up call to action, October 2026
Mighty Networks's homepage in October 2026.

Mighty Networks is a community, course and events platform with member apps under the Mighty brand. Peer connection is central to many recovery models, so a coach whose main offer is a paid community with live events will find it a natural home.

Community depth versus coaching depth

Mighty Networks does community well: spaces, events, livestreams and courses inside one network, with hosts and moderators. A recovery membership with weekly livestreamed check-in circles and moderated discussion spaces fits its model. Livestream hours are capped by plan (20 hours a month on Launch, up to 100 attendees).

The coaching side is thin. Mighty Networks has no 1:1 scheduling, invoicing or contracts, and no per-client habits, check-ins or private coaching plans. A recovery coach who also sells 1:1 packages would need a separate scheduler, a separate agreement tool and probably a separate way to track each client's daily progress.

The numbers, as listed in October 2026

  • Launch: $95/mo ($79/mo annually), 3 hosts, 2% Mighty platform fee on sales.
  • Scale: $215/mo ($179/mo annually), 1% platform fee.
  • Growth: $354/mo billed annually, 0.5% platform fee.
  • Mighty Pro (own branded apps): custom pricing.
  • Trial: 14 days, no card required, with Growth plan features.

The platform fee adds up as you grow. As an example, a coach selling $3,000 a month of memberships on Launch would pay $60 a month in Mighty fees on top of Stripe processing. Trustpilot showed 3.3 from 219 reviews in October 2026.

Pick it over Coachful if your offer is almost entirely a large peer community with livestreamed events, you do little or no 1:1 work, and member-to-member discussion matters more than individual daily plans.

4. Practice Better: a practitioner tool with a client portal

Practice Better homepage with its headline and sign-up call to action, October 2026
Practice Better's homepage in October 2026.

Practice Better is practice management software for wellness and nutrition practitioners: scheduling, telehealth, charting, billing, programs and a client portal. Recovery coaches who work alongside clinicians, or who simply prefer a clinical-style workflow with notes and charting, often shortlist it.

Why it appeals to some recovery coaches

The free Sprout plan (3 clients, 1 practitioner) lets you try it without paying, and paid plans scale by client count. Scheduling, telehealth, billing and programs live together, which covers more of the 1:1 side than Kajabi, Mighty Networks or Podia. For a coach running mostly individual sessions with session notes, it is a sensible tool.

Watch the plan tier

  • Sprout: $0, 3 clients.
  • Starter: $35/mo ($25/mo annually), 10 clients.
  • Professional: $69/mo ($59/mo annually), 300 clients.
  • Plus: $99/mo ($89/mo annually), unlimited clients.
  • Team: $155/mo ($145/mo annually) for 2 practitioners.
  • Trial: 30 days on Team, 14 days on other paid plans. Payments run through Practice Better Payments, powered by Stripe (rates not listed on the pricing page).

The catch for a coach who sells programs: evergreen programs, portal branding, a custom URL and SMS start on Plus, so the realistic price for a branded recovery program is $99 a month on monthly billing. Practice Better also has no website builder or funnel pages, according to an older profile, so you would still need a separate website and sales pages. Trustpilot showed 3.8 from 87 reviews in October 2026.

Pick it over Coachful if you want charting and a clinical-style record, you coach alongside licensed providers in a way that calls for that format, and you already have a website you are happy with.

5. Podia: the simplest storefront on the list

Podia homepage with its headline and sign-up call to action, October 2026
Podia's homepage in October 2026.

Podia is a straightforward storefront for courses, downloads, webinars, coaching sessions and community. If you want to put one family recovery course and a handful of paid calls online this week, it is quick to understand.

Good at getting a first product live

Podia keeps things plain: a product page, a checkout, a community space. The 14-day trial needs no card and no plan choice, which makes it easy to try. Selling a self-paced course for partners and parents of people in recovery, plus a few coaching sessions, sits well within what it does.

Limits that show up later

  • Mover: $49/mo ($42/mo annually) with a 5% Podia transaction fee, and 100 email subscribers included.
  • Shaker: $99/mo ($84/mo annually), 0% Podia fee, 500 email subscribers.
  • Earthquaker: $179/mo ($150/mo annually), unlimited products, 1,000 email subscribers.
  • Stripe or PayPal processing (2.9% + 30¢ standard) on top.

Podia has no client habits, check-ins or per-client plans, and an older profile lists no mobile app and no native video calls. The included email allowances are small, which matters if your growth plan relies on a lead magnet and a nurture sequence. Trustpilot showed 4.1 from 153 reviews in October 2026.

Pick it over Coachful if you are selling one or two simple products, do not need daily client structure, and want the shortest possible path to a working checkout.

Which features does each platform cover for selling and delivery?

Coachful is the only platform here that covers every row from checkout to daily check-ins. The matrix below uses what each vendor documents; "Not listed" means we could not find the feature in the vendor's own materials.

If the daily-structure column matters most to you, our guide to asynchronous coaching platforms goes deeper on between-session tools.

What does each platform cost at 5, 15 and 40 clients?

Monthly-billing prices as listed in October 2026, for a coach running a program with 1:1 calls and a group. Processing fees (typically around 2.9% plus a fixed amount per card charge) apply on every platform and are not included.

Platform5 clients15 clients40 clientsWhat else you would add

Kajabi (Basic)$179$179$179A habit or check-in tool; possibly a scheduler
Mighty Networks (Launch)$95 + 2% of sales$95 + 2% of sales$95 + 2% of salesA scheduler, an e-signature tool, a check-in tool
Practice Better (Plus, for branded evergreen programs)$99$99$99A website and sales pages
Podia (Shaker, 0% fee)$99$99$99Video calls, a check-in tool, possibly more email capacity

Two notes on reading this table. First, the cheaper tiers exist: Practice Better Starter at $35 covers 10 clients and Podia Mover at $49 works if you accept a 5% fee, so a very small practice can start lower. Second, the "what else" column is where costs hide. We have not priced the add-on tools because the choice varies, but each one is another subscription and another place a client has to log in.

How would you build a recovery offer end to end in Coachful?

Here is one illustrative offer, built step by step: a 90-day early-recovery program with weekly 1:1 calls, daily check-ins, a cohort group and a family course as an order bump. The name, format and structure are examples; set your own price from your costs, the hours each client takes and what comparable coaches in your area charge.

A monitor showing Coachful's funnels list beside a laptop showing the offers page
Coachful's funnels list on the monitor and the offers page with live offer cards on the laptop.

Step 1: The website and the application funnel

Start with a homepage template or the Import website option, then add an application funnel rather than a straight "buy now" page. In recovery coaching, a short application lets you screen for fit and spot anyone who needs clinical care first. Intake questions can also sit on the booking page for the discovery call. If you would rather not build it yourself, request the site and funnel through the white-glove service and fill in the details it leaves for you.

Step 2: Checkout and agreement

Create the offer with a payment plan option, since many people in early recovery are also rebuilding their finances. Add the family course as an order bump. Attach your coaching agreement so it is signed before the first call; include your scope line, your crisis and referral process, and your confidentiality limits.

Step 3: Onboarding

A welcome flow sends the client their first steps: book the first call, complete a short intake, and set up two or three starter habits. Booking pages handle time zones, buffers and minimum notice, and reminders can go by email, plus SMS 24 hours before and WhatsApp 1 hour before once messaging is enabled.

Step 4: The program

Build twelve weeks, each with a weekly goal (for example, week 1 "map your daily routine", week 4 "plan for high-risk situations", week 8 "repair one relationship") and daily tasks. Turn on the morning and evening check-ins. Michelle can draft a first outline from your notes, and you can start from one of the more than 40 program templates.

Client Programs view in Coachful showing an enrolled group program and its current week
The demo Programs view shows an enrolled group program, its current week, members and the route into the program.

Step 5: Community and ongoing care

Enrollment creates the cohort group automatically. Schedule a weekly group call, post a prompt in the feed each Monday, and check your client list for anyone marked quiet or at risk before each call. At day 90, offer a monthly membership as the next step so clients keep their community.

The programs walkthrough shows the build in a few minutes.

What mistakes do recovery coaches make when choosing a platform?

  • Choosing a course tool for a coaching business. Course platforms are built for watching lessons. Recovery clients need to act daily and be seen doing it. If 1:1 or cohort coaching is your core, start from a coaching platform and add courses, not the other way round.
  • Collecting clinical detail you cannot protect. Ask only what coaching needs. If your work requires HIPAA protections or a BAA, choose a tool that signs one, and do not put treatment records into a coaching platform.
  • Skipping the written agreement. Your scope, your referral process and what happens if you are concerned about safety belong in a signed document before the first call, not in a welcome email.
  • Counting only the headline price. A cheap community plan plus a scheduler, an e-signature tool, a form tool and a percentage fee can cost more than one all-in-one plan, and it splits the client's attention across apps.
  • Making the client hunt. Every extra login is friction for someone whose week may already be fragile. One app with the next step visible beats a clever stack.
  • Forgetting the exit. Check that you can export your client data. Our guide on protecting coaching data from platform shutdowns lists what to check.

For a broader checklist, see how to choose an online coaching platform, and if you run cohorts, the guide to the best platform for cohort coaching programs.

So which is the best platform for recovery coaches?

For most recovery coaches who sell programs with 1:1 calls, daily structure and a group, Coachful is the strongest fit. It is the only option here where checkout, the signed agreement, booking, daily check-ins and habits, cohorts, courses and the website all run under one login, it takes a 0% platform fee, and the white-glove team will build your site and first program at no cost.

The alternatives each win a narrower case. Kajabi suits a course-and-email business with little 1:1 work. Mighty Networks suits a large peer community built around live events. Practice Better suits coaches who want charting and work close to clinical providers. Podia suits a coach launching one simple product fast.

To start with Coachful: take the free trial, then use Create to request the free white-glove build of your website or first program. Coachful is built for coaches who deliver programs rather than single sessions, and for solo coaches replacing four to six tools. It is not for clinical record-keeping or insurance billing. Frequently asked questions

What is the best platform for recovery coaches?

For recovery coaches who sell programs combining 1:1 calls, daily check-ins and a group, we rank Coachful first because all of that runs under one login with one branded client app. Kajabi, Mighty Networks, Practice Better and Podia each fit narrower cases, such as course-led businesses or large communities.

Is Coachful HIPAA-compliant for recovery coaching?

No. Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and does not sign a BAA, so it is not suitable for clinical records, insurance billing or coaching delivered inside a treatment program that requires HIPAA. Coaching is not treatment; keep clinical detail out of any coaching platform and refer clients to licensed care when needed.

What is Coachful's free white-glove service?

It is a build service included on every plan. You describe what you need, such as a website, funnel, program or email sequence, attach reference links and files, and the Coachful team builds it inside your account, usually within about 24 hours. It does not include recording videos, logo design or ad management.

Can clients check in daily between sessions?

In Coachful, yes: programs include morning and evening check-ins, daily tasks and habits, and the coach sees each client's status as thriving, active, quiet or at risk. Kajabi, Mighty Networks and Podia do not document daily client check-ins, so coaches there usually add a separate tool.

Can I run a recovery cohort or group program?

Yes. Coachful creates a cohort group automatically when clients enroll in a program and adds group chat, a community feed, group calls and webinars. Mighty Networks is also strong for communities but has no 1:1 scheduling or contracts.

Does a recovery coach need a written coaching agreement?

We strongly recommend one. It should state that coaching is not treatment, how you handle safety concerns, and when you refer to licensed providers. Rules vary by location, so check with an attorney about the wording.

Which platform charges no transaction fee?

Coachful charges a 0% platform fee, so only Stripe or Razorpay processing applies. Among the others, as listed in October 2026, Podia's Mover plan adds 5%, Mighty Networks adds 0.5% to 2% depending on plan, and Kajabi adds 0.5% to 2% if you use a processor other than Kajabi Payments or PayPal.

Can I accept PayPal for my recovery program?

Not in Coachful, which uses Stripe Connect or Razorpay, including Apple Pay and Google Pay. Podia lists Stripe or PayPal processing, so it is an option if PayPal is essential to your clients.

How should I price a recovery coaching program?

Work out the hours each client takes per month (calls, messages, check-in review), add your platform and processing costs, and compare with coaches offering a similar format in your market. Offering a payment plan can make a 90-day program more accessible without lowering the price.

Can I move my clients and content into Coachful?

Yes. Clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding, and you can export your full client data as a ZIP at any time, including roster, notes, check-ins, goals, habits and sessions.
