Metricool vs Hootsuite: Which Fits a Coach in 2026?

Metricool vs Hootsuite: Which Fits a Coach in 2026?

Metricool vs Hootsuite comes down to price and scale. For a solo coach who posts on a few networks and wants clear analytics, Metricool is the better buy: it has a forever-free plan, paid plans from $20 a month billed yearly, and Instagram comment-to-DM automation on its entry paid plan. Hootsuite is built for marketing teams: it starts at $99 per user per month billed yearly, adds a strong shared inbox and approval workflows, and only makes sense once several people handle your social accounts.

Neither tool books a session, takes a payment, sends a coaching agreement or delivers a program. That is why this comparison ends with a third option, Coachful, an all-in-one coaching platform with a built-in social planner and Instagram automations. We make Coachful, so we have tried to be specific about where it beats both tools and where it does not. Every vendor price below is as listed in October 2026, in US dollars and before tax.

What is the short answer by use case?

Pick by the job you need done, not by brand size. Here is the quick version before the detail.

  • You post a few times a week and want to know what works: Metricool. The free plan covers one brand and 20 scheduled posts a month, and the analytics are the reason people choose it.
  • You run comment-to-DM campaigns on Instagram: Metricool Starter includes Flows for comment-to-DM and keyword replies. Hootsuite keeps DM automation for its Professional plan at $199 per user per month billed yearly.
  • You have a social media manager, an assistant and you all reply to messages: Hootsuite. Its inbox, saved replies, message assignment and approval workflows are made for teams.
  • You need LinkedIn and X on a budget: Metricool includes LinkedIn on paid plans, but X costs an extra $10 a month per connected X account. Hootsuite includes both on Standard.
  • Your real problem is turning followers into paying clients: neither tool fixes that. A coaching platform such as Coachful puts publishing, Instagram DM automation, booking, payments and program delivery behind one login, which is where most coaches lose time.

If you only want the scheduler verdict, Metricool wins for most solo coaches on price alone. If you want the verdict for your whole business, keep reading, because the cost of social media software is rarely the biggest line in a coach's tool stack.

How do Metricool, Hootsuite and Coachful compare side by side?

We rank on four things that matter to coaches: one login for the whole client journey, delivery between sessions, total stack cost, and setup effort (including Coachful's free white-glove build).

Read the table one way: Metricool and Hootsuite are social media tools, and Coachful is a coaching business platform that includes social publishing. If you already have booking, payments and a client portal you love, compare only the bottom two rows. If you are stitching together five tools, the top row is the one to look at. Our comparison hub covers other pairings.

How much do Metricool and Hootsuite cost?

Metricool is priced by brand, Hootsuite by user, and that difference decides most of the bill. A brand in Metricool is one business with one profile per network, so a solo coach with one Instagram, one Facebook page and one LinkedIn profile is a single brand. Hootsuite charges per seat, so adding an assistant doubles the bill.

Hootsuite's yearly prices work out to $1,188 a year for Standard, $2,388 for Professional and $4,788 for Advanced, per user. Metricool's yearly prices work out to $240 a year for Starter with five brands and $636 for Advanced with 15 brands; Metricool does not show yearly totals, so those are our multiplication. Neither vendor includes tax in its listed price.

Metricool pricing page with Free, Starter, Advanced and Custom plans
Metricool's pricing page in October 2026. The page switches between euro and US dollar prices, and the numerals differ between the two.

What add-ons change the Metricool bill?

Metricool's headline price is low, but three add-ons are worth knowing about before you commit:

  • X (Twitter): $10 a month per connected X account, required to connect X at all, and only on paid plans.
  • Advanced Analytics: from $12 a month on Starter and $36 a month on Advanced and Custom. It adds Metricool Studio, unlimited campaign dashboards and advanced analytics with 30 days of history.
  • Hashtag Tracker: $25 a day for X or Instagram, useful for a launch or event, not something most coaches run every week.

Metricool also lists its euro prices with different numerals from its dollar prices (for example, Starter billed yearly is €16 against $20), so check the currency toggle on the pricing page before you compare.

What does Hootsuite add on top?

Hootsuite's only listed add-on is extra seats at the plan's per-user price. The bigger cost question is which plan you actually need. DM automations, automated message responses, AI smart replies, custom-branded links and customizable reports all start on Professional, not Standard. A coach who chose Hootsuite for Instagram automation would pay $199 a month billed yearly for one seat, or $299 month to month.

A worked example: one solo coach, one year

Take an example coach who posts to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and X, and wants comment-to-DM automation on Instagram. These numbers are illustrative, built from the list prices above.

  • Metricool: Starter billed yearly at $240, plus the X add-on at $120 a year, totals $360 a year.
  • Hootsuite: Professional billed yearly for one user (needed for DM automation) totals $2,388 a year. Standard at $1,188 would cover publishing but not the DM automation.

Both totals cover social media only. The same coach still pays separately for a booking tool, a course or program platform, a website and email. Our guides to Calendly pricing and Kajabi pricing show what those lines typically add. That stack is where the third option in this article comes in: in Coachful the social planner and Instagram automations sit inside the same membership as booking, payments and programs (current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients).

Free plans and trials

Metricool has a free-forever plan: one brand, 20 posts a month, no LinkedIn or X. It does not advertise a standard trial of its paid plans, because the free plan plays that role. Hootsuite has no free plan, but offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card and no automatic charge. Trial accounts are limited to 10 to 20 posts a day per organization and cannot bulk schedule, so test it with a real week of content rather than a backlog.

Which publishes to more networks?

Both cover the networks coaches actually use, with small differences that can matter. Hootsuite includes X and LinkedIn on every plan; Metricool charges extra for X and keeps LinkedIn off its free plan.

CoachfulYesYesYesNoNone
MetricoolYesPaid plans onlyPaid add-on per accountYesBluesky, Google Business Profile, Twitch
HootsuiteYesYesYesYesBluesky, Google Business Profile; WhatsApp messages in the inbox

Hootsuite's Standard plan caps you at 10 social accounts, which is plenty for one coach and tight for an agency. Metricool caps by brands instead, so one coach rarely hits a limit. If TikTok or Pinterest is a main channel for you, either vendor covers it and Coachful does not publish there.

Planning and scheduling features

Hootsuite documents a publishing calendar with bulk scheduling, best-time recommendations, Canva and Adobe Express templates and calendar export on every plan. Metricool documents a planner with auto-publishing on every plan, plus Google Drive and Canva integration from Starter. Hootsuite's bulk scheduling suits high-volume teams; Metricool's planner covers what one coach posting a few times a week needs.

Which is better for Instagram DMs and the inbox?

Metricool is better value for a solo coach's DM automation; Hootsuite is better for a team that answers messages together. For coaches, comment-to-DM ("comment GUIDE and I'll send it") is often the single most useful social automation, because it turns a post into a lead.

  • Metricool Flows handle Instagram comment-to-DM and keyword DM replies, TikTok comment replies and X auto-reposts on paid plans. Metricool lists Flows as included at "no extra cost for a limited time", so check whether that has changed before you build your funnel on it.
  • Metricool's inbox covers Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and Google Business Profile on every plan, plus LinkedIn on paid plans.
  • Hootsuite's inbox covers public and private messages with saved replies and contact notes on Standard. DM automations, automated responses, AI smart replies and tag automations start on Professional. Message assignment and skill-based routing arrive on Advanced.

Where both stop is the moment after the DM. The link you send goes to a booking page, a lead magnet or a checkout that lives in another tool, and the person who replied is now a contact in your social tool, not a lead in your client records.

Which has better analytics and reports?

Metricool is the analytics pick for a solo coach; Hootsuite's reporting is built for teams that present to managers. Metricool's paid plans keep unlimited analytics history, track up to 100 competitors, and export PDF and PPT reports. Its free plan keeps 30 days of analytics and five competitor profiles. Advanced adds customizable report templates, complete X analytics and a Looker Studio connector.

Hootsuite Standard includes post performance and multi-network reports, competitive benchmarking for up to five competitors and seven days of social listening. Professional raises benchmarking to 20 competitors and listening to 30 days, adds customizable reports, report scheduling and trend forecasting. Advanced adds advanced exporting and sharing.

For most coaches, the honest test is simple: will you open the report every month and change what you post? If yes, Metricool's analytics are the stronger reason to pay. If you mostly need to know which post brought in a consultation, social analytics will not tell you; the booking and payment records will.

Which is easier to run as a team?

Hootsuite. It is priced per user and designed around team work: post approvals, internal comments, suspended posts, message assignment and inbox team reporting on Advanced. Metricool's Starter plan does not include team members at all; inviting an assistant requires Advanced, which then allows unlimited team members with roles and a post approval system from $53 a month billed yearly.

Put another way, a coach adding one assistant pays roughly double on Hootsuite (two seats) and moves from Starter to Advanced on Metricool. For a two-person coaching business, Metricool Advanced is still far cheaper than two Hootsuite seats. Our page for coaching teams covers how seats and permissions work when the team also runs sessions.

What about link in bio, AI and integrations?

Both include a link-in-bio page, both have AI help, and both stop short of selling. Metricool's SmartLinks link-in-bio is on every plan with unlimited links, and paid plans allow multiple link-in-bio pages. Hootsuite includes Hootbio on every plan.

For AI, Hootsuite includes 100 AI credits a month on each paid plan for post, caption, hashtag and image generation. Metricool includes 5 AI credits per brand per month on Free, 20 on Starter and 35 on Advanced, plus AI alt text without credits on Advanced.

Integrations follow the same pattern as everything else. Metricool's API, with Zapier and Make, sits on Advanced. Hootsuite's Salesforce integration and single sign-on sit on Enterprise. Data export is fair on both: Metricool offers CSV downloads across analytics and a calendar export, and Hootsuite offers calendar export on all plans and analytics and inbox exports from Professional.

What do public reviews say?

The gap in public sentiment is wide. On Trustpilot, as seen on 28 October 2026, Metricool scored 4.1 from 690 reviews and Hootsuite scored 1.3 from 556 reviews. Trustpilot skews toward people with billing or support complaints, so treat both numbers as a signal about the buying experience rather than the product's features. It is still worth reading recent reviews on renewals and cancellation before you sign a yearly plan with either vendor. For context, Coachful's Trustpilot score is 4.5 from 21 reviews, a much smaller sample.

Which one looks like you?

Coachful builds your coaching website from a few answers, in a design chosen for your niche, with programs, booking and payments ready behind it.

Build your platform

What does your client experience in each?

In Metricool and Hootsuite, your client experiences nothing directly, because neither tool has a client side. They see your posts and your DMs. Once they decide to work with you, they leave the social tool's world entirely: a booking link, a payment page, an agreement by email, a course login, maybe a separate community app.

That handoff is where coaches lose people. Every new login is a chance for a warm lead to go quiet. If your social media is working but your conversion from DM to paying client is not, a better scheduler will not change it. Our coaching software overview walks through what a connected client journey looks like.

Which should you pick for which kind of coach?

Match the tool to the stage of your business. This table is the decision in one place.

ToolPick it ifSkip it if
CoachfulYou want social posts and Instagram DMs to lead straight into booking, payment, agreements and a branded client program, with one loginYou need TikTok or Pinterest publishing, deep social analytics or one inbox for every network
MetricoolYou are solo, post on several networks and want good analytics and comment-to-DM on a small budgetYou need team seats on a starter budget, or you post heavily on X and resent paying per account
HootsuiteYou have a social media manager or team sharing one inbox, with approvals and reportingYou are a solo coach; per-user pricing and DM automation on Professional make it expensive for one person
  • New coach, first clients: start with Metricool Free if you only want scheduling, or skip a separate scheduler and use the planner inside your coaching platform. See our page for new coaches.
  • Established solo coach with a content habit: Metricool Starter for analytics, or Coachful if the bottleneck is everything that happens after the post.
  • Coach with a marketing team or agency: Hootsuite, or Metricool Advanced if budget matters more than inbox routing.
  • Coach running cohorts and programs: the social tool matters less than the delivery tool. Look at group coaching software first.

Is there a third option that beats both?

For most coaches, yes: Coachful, when the goal is clients rather than reach. Coachful is a coaching platform where one subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, an AI assistant, a social planner and Instagram automations. The coach has one login and the client gets one branded app.

What the social side of Coachful does

The social planner sits under Sell, then How you reach them. Built-in AI helps with post ideas and captions, then you schedule and publish to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads and YouTube from one calendar. Each network publishes separately, with a retry per network and a notification if one fails.

Instagram automations live under Manage, then Your client experience, then Automations, once you connect your Instagram professional account. Triggers include a DM, a comment on a post (optionally only when it contains chosen keywords), a story reply, a mention, or a new follower where Meta supports it. Actions send a DM, reply publicly to the comment, send a DM with buttons or quick replies, or send an AI-written reply, which uses one AI credit per reply.

The difference from Metricool Flows and Hootsuite's DM automation is where the person lands. Someone comments a keyword, gets your booking link, lead magnet or checkout in a DM, and appears in the same Coachful lead and client records you use to coach them. No export, no Zapier step, no second contact list.

What happens after the DM

That is the part neither social tool covers. In Coachful the same account runs:

  • Booking: booking pages with availability rules, buffers, minimum notice and time-zone detection; two-way Google, Apple and Outlook calendar sync; built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet or Teams links; email reminders, plus SMS and WhatsApp reminders once messaging is enabled. More on our scheduling page.
  • Payments: through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account, with one-time payments, subscriptions, payment plans, coupons and refunds, and a 0% Coachful platform fee since August 2026. You pay only Stripe or Razorpay processing.
  • Agreements: coaching agreements with e-signature sent before the first call and stored on the client record.
  • Funnels and website: booking, application, lead-magnet and checkout funnels with pixels and UTM tracking, a section-based website builder with a blog, and a link-in-bio page that sells.
  • Delivery: multi-week programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins and streaks, delivered in the client's branded app.
  • Email: lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences with triggers, delays, branching and A/B splits.

When Coachful beats both

  • Your social posts lead to paid coaching. A comment-to-DM that lands in your lead records, books a call and takes payment in one system is worth more than a better analytics chart.
  • You are paying for four to six tools. A scheduler, a booking tool, a course platform, an email tool, a payment link and a community app add up. Coachful replaces that stack with one membership.
  • You coach between sessions. Habits, check-ins and goals with progress bars keep clients moving, and the client record shows who is thriving, active, quiet or at risk.
  • You are short on setup time. The white-glove build service, covered below, does the building for you.

When Metricool or Hootsuite beats Coachful

  • TikTok or Pinterest is a main channel. Coachful does not publish to either; both Metricool and Hootsuite do.
  • You live in analytics. Coachful has business analytics (revenue, client activity, funnels, retention), but no social media analytics dashboards. Metricool is the stronger choice here.
  • You want one inbox for every network. Coachful has no unified social inbox. Hootsuite's inbox, with assignment and routing, is the team answer.
  • You need DM automation beyond Instagram. Coachful automates Instagram only, and does not collect email addresses inside the DM or gate links behind a follow.
  • You are an agency managing many brands. Metricool's brand-based pricing and Hootsuite's enterprise features fit that work; Coachful is built for coaching businesses.

Plenty of coaches will reasonably use both: Coachful for the business, plus Metricool's entry tier or Starter plan for TikTok and deeper social analytics. That pairing still costs far less than a Hootsuite seat.

What your client sees in Coachful

Your client gets one branded home and app (your branding inside the Coachful app) with their next session, programs, progress and documents in one place. Programs show the current week, tasks and habits; group programs create cohort groups automatically on enrollment.

What Coachful does not do

Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and does not sign a BAA, so clinical records and insurance billing belong in a clinical system. It does not support PayPal for client payments. The client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding, not under your own App Store account. There is no Salesforce or HubSpot integration, no multi-stage sales deal board for large teams, and no third-party plugins. It is not a general website builder for non-coaching sites.

Who Coachful is for and how to start

Coachful is built for coaches who deliver programs, not just sessions; solo coaches growing into a small team; and coaches replacing four to six tools. Plans are flat monthly, lower plans cap the number of clients, Pro is unlimited, team plans add coach seats, and monthly plans cancel in one click (Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients). Start with a free trial, then ask the team to build your setup for you.

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. From Create, then "We'll build it for you", you describe what you want built: a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline, email sequence, link in bio, lead quiz, webinar, automation or something else. You can attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files such as logos, photos, brand guides and copy. The Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. Nothing gets invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. It does not cover recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. One recent example: a business mentor for beauty professionals got a 12-week mentorship sales page, a free start-up-guide funnel and rewritten follow-up emails. How do you move from Metricool or Hootsuite without losing momentum?

Switch the business tools first and the scheduler last. Your social calendar is easy to rebuild; your client records, payments and programs are not.

  1. Export what you have. Metricool offers CSV downloads of analytics and a calendar export; Hootsuite offers calendar export on every plan and analytics exports from Professional.
  2. Set up booking, payments and your first program in your coaching platform, or request a white-glove build for the website and funnel.
  3. Connect Instagram and recreate your comment-to-DM flows so each keyword points to a booking page, lead magnet or checkout inside the same system.
  4. Move scheduled posts for the networks you keep. If TikTok or Pinterest matters, keep a Metricool plan for those.
  5. Cancel at renewal, not mid-term, especially on a yearly Hootsuite plan.

If you are weighing an all-in-one marketing CRM instead, our GoHighLevel pricing guide covers a heavier, agency-first alternative, and the coaching CRM page explains how Coachful handles leads and client records.

Frequently asked questions

Is Metricool cheaper than Hootsuite?

Yes, by a wide margin for one person. As listed in October 2026, Metricool Starter is $20 a month billed yearly for up to five brands, while Hootsuite Standard is $99 per user per month billed yearly. Metricool also has a free-forever plan and Hootsuite does not.

Does Metricool or Hootsuite have Instagram comment-to-DM automation?

Both do, on different plans. Metricool includes Flows for Instagram comment-to-DM and keyword replies on paid plans from Starter. Hootsuite keeps DM automations and automated responses for Professional and above.

Which is better for a solo coach, Metricool or Hootsuite?

Metricool, for most solo coaches. It costs less, includes strong analytics and covers the networks coaches use. Hootsuite's strengths, such as message assignment, approvals and team reporting, matter once several people share the work.

Does Metricool include X (Twitter)?

Not in the base price. Connecting X requires an add-on at $10 a month per connected X account, available on paid plans only. Hootsuite includes X on all plans.

Does Hootsuite have a free plan?

No. Hootsuite offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card and no automatic charge, but trial accounts are limited to 10 to 20 posts a day per organization and cannot bulk schedule.

Can Metricool or Hootsuite book sessions or take payments?

No. Neither has a booking calendar, client records, payments, programs or courses. Hootsuite's contact profiles on Professional cover social conversations only.

Does Coachful replace Metricool or Hootsuite?

For many coaches, yes. Coachful's social planner publishes to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads and YouTube, and its Instagram automations send people into your lead and client records. It does not publish to TikTok or Pinterest, has no social analytics dashboards and no unified social inbox, so coaches who depend on those may keep a Metricool plan alongside it.

What is Coachful's free white-glove service?

It is a build service on every plan: you describe what you want, such as a website, funnel, program or email sequence, attach links and files, and the Coachful team builds it inside your account, usually within about 24 hours. It does not include video recording, logo design, ads or ongoing marketing.

Is Coachful a good fit for health or fitness coaches?

Yes for coaching, not for clinical work. The Fitness and Nutrition pack covers workouts, nutrition targets, meal plans and check-ins, but Coachful is not HIPAA-certified, so clinical records belong in a clinical system. See the fitness and nutrition page for details.
