Skool vs Systeme io (2026): Which Fits Coaches Better?

Skool vs Systeme io (2026): Which Fits Coaches Better?

Skool vs Systeme io comes down to one question: do you need a place where your members gather, or a machine that brings new people in? Skool is a community with a classroom and a calendar attached. Systeme.io is a low-cost marketing suite with funnels, email, courses and a basic community. For a coach selling a paid group, Skool is the simpler home; for a coach building a list and selling through funnels, Systeme.io does far more for less money. Neither one gives you 1:1 client records, booking with client history, habits or check-ins, which is why many coaches end up running a third tool next to whichever one they pick.

This guide compares both platforms on what their own pricing and help pages list in October 2026, what public reviewers report, and what each costs once transaction fees are counted. We make Coachful, a coaching platform that covers the parts both tools leave out, so we also show where it beats both and where it does not.

What is the short answer by use case?

Pick Skool if your business is one paid community and you want members to show up, post and climb a leaderboard. Pick Systeme.io if your business runs on lead magnets, email sequences and sales funnels and you want the cheapest way to run them. Pick neither if you mainly coach people 1:1 or in programs with weekly goals and check-ins.

  • Paid community or mastermind with a course library: Skool. Its whole product is a group with a feed, a classroom and a calendar, plus gamified leaderboards.
  • Building an email list and selling a low-ticket course: Systeme.io. Its free plan includes 2,000 contacts, 3 funnels, 1 course and unlimited emails, as listed in October 2026.
  • Selling high-ticket coaching through a webinar: Systeme.io, whose Webinar plan adds evergreen webinars.
  • Running 1:1 clients or structured programs with sessions, goals, habits and check-ins: neither. Both lack per-client records and between-session tracking, so a coaching platform such as Coachful fits better.
  • Replacing four to six tools with one login: Coachful, which includes booking, payments, contracts, programs, courses, community, website, funnels and email in one membership.

If you have already read our Skool pricing breakdown or our Systeme.io review, this article puts the two side by side and adds the coaching layer neither covers.

How do Skool and Systeme.io compare side by side?

We ranked the three options for coaches on four criteria: one login for the whole client journey, delivery between sessions, total stack cost, and setup effort. On those criteria Coachful leads, Systeme.io is second for its marketing breadth at a low price, and Skool is third because it covers only the community part of the job.

Build your platform

What is Skool, and who is it for?

Skool is a community platform: each group combines a discussion feed, a classroom for courses and a calendar for live calls, with gamified leaderboards that reward members for taking part. It suits coaches whose offer is a paid group, a membership or a mastermind, and who want members in one simple place.

What Skool does well is focus. There is no website builder to learn, no funnel editor and no email tool. You create a group, upload lessons into the classroom, schedule calls on the calendar and invite people. Members, courses, videos and live calls are unlimited on both plans, as listed in October 2026. That simplicity is also its limit. Skool does not offer a custom domain website, funnels, email automation or a public API, and it has no 1:1 client records, intake forms, habits or check-ins. Payments run only through Skool Payments, with a fee on every sale.

Public sentiment is mixed. On Trustpilot, Skool shows a 1.6 rating from 54 reviews as seen in October 2026, a small sample that leans negative. In September 2026 it was not listed on G2 or Capterra.

For a deeper look at Skool against other community tools, see Skool vs Mighty Networks.

Systeme.io's homepage in October 2026.

What is Systeme.io, and who is it for?

Systeme.io is an all-in-one marketing suite at a low price: funnels, email marketing, courses, a community area, a blog and an affiliate program. It suits coaches who sell through lead magnets, email sequences and sales pages, and who want to start on a free plan.

Its best-known feature is the free plan, which never expires and needs no credit card. As listed in October 2026 it includes 2,000 contacts, 3 funnels, 1 course with up to 500 students, 1 blog, 1 affiliate program, 1 custom domain, 1 automation rule, 1 email campaign and unlimited emails. Systeme.io charges 0% transaction fees on every plan, including the free one; you pay only your Stripe or PayPal processing.

The gaps sit on the delivery side. In September 2026 our profile recorded no native 1:1 scheduling with client records, habits or check-ins, basic community and course features, and no branded mobile app. Systeme.io holds a 4.9 Trustpilot rating from 8,696 reviews as seen in October 2026, a large and strongly positive sample.

We compare it with other marketing suites in GoHighLevel vs Systeme.io and Systeme.io vs Kajabi.

How does Skool vs Systeme io pricing compare?

Systeme.io is cheaper at every stage: it starts free, and its paid plans run $17, $47 and $97 a month with no transaction fee. Skool has two plans at $9 and $99 a month, and both take a cut of every sale, so its real cost grows with your revenue.

Skool Pro$99About $82.50/month ("2 months free")Unlimited members, courses, videos, live calls2.9% + 30¢ up to $899; 3.9% + 30¢ above $900

A few details matter more than the headline numbers. Each Skool community is a separate subscription, so running a free lead group and a paid inner circle means paying twice. Skool's fees are non-refundable, and payouts arrive weekly on Wednesdays in your local currency. Systeme.io's page shows prices with a "$" sign without naming the currency, and its yearly totals were not printed in October 2026; an older profile listed $170, $470 and $970 a year. Skool's "Try for free" button does not state a trial length or card requirement on its pricing page or help FAQ.

Skool pricing page with the Hobby and Pro plans

What do the fees cost at real revenue levels?

Here is an illustrative example, not real customer data. Imagine a coach with 30 members paying $200 a month, or $6,000 a month in revenue.

  • Skool Hobby: 10% + 30¢ on each $200 payment is $20.30, so 30 payments cost $609 in fees plus the $9 plan, about $618 a month.
  • Skool Pro: 2.9% + 30¢ on each $200 payment is $6.10, so 30 payments cost $183 plus the $99 plan, about $282 a month.
  • Systeme.io Startup: $17 a month and no platform fee. You still pay Stripe or PayPal processing on each sale, which Skool's fee already includes because Skool Payments is the processor.

Now a high-ticket example. Ten clients buy a $1,500 coaching program in a month. On Skool Pro, each sale is above $900, so the fee is 3.9% + 30¢, or $58.80 per sale and $588 for ten. On Skool Hobby it is $150.30 per sale and $1,503 for ten. On Systeme.io the platform takes nothing beyond the plan price. The pattern is simple: once your revenue climbs, Skool's percentage outweighs its low plan price.

On Coachful the platform fee is also 0%, and you connect your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account. The plan price does not move with revenue (Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients).

Systeme.io's pricing page in October 2026.

Our full breakdowns of Systeme.io pricing and Skool pricing cover each plan in more detail.

Which is better for community: Skool or Systeme.io?

Skool. Community is the product, and its feed, classroom, calendar and leaderboards are built around getting members to come back. Systeme.io includes a community area, but our September 2026 profile described its community and course features as basic.

Skool's gamified leaderboards are its signature feature. For a coach running a large group, ranking members by activity can help keep the feed busy without the coach posting every day. The trade-off is that everything is shared: Skool has no private per-client space where one member's goals, notes or check-ins live away from the group.

Systeme.io treats community as one feature among many. It is useful when you want a discussion space next to a course, less so when the community is the main thing you sell.

Coachful's community includes a feed, group chat, direct messages and video events, and it creates cohort groups automatically when a client enrolls in a program. It does not have Skool's gamified leaderboards, so if gamified leaderboards are central to your offer, Skool is the stronger choice there. See group coaching software for how cohorts work.

Which is better for courses?

Both host courses, and for a simple video library either works. Skool puts the classroom inside the group, with unlimited courses on both plans. Systeme.io caps courses by plan (1 on Free, 5 on Startup, 20 on Webinar, unlimited on Unlimited) and adds a separate student area, which suits selling a course on its own sales page.

Neither is a full learning platform. Both give you modules and lessons; neither turns a course into a coaching program with weekly goals, daily tasks and check-ins tied to each student. If your course is the first step into coaching, consider where the second step lives. Coachful's courses include modules, lessons, drip release and completion tracking, and they sit next to programs, so a client can finish a module and get a check-in on the same day in the same app. It also has 48 course templates with quizzes. For a broader look at course tools, see online course platforms for coaches.

Which is better for funnels, websites and email?

Systeme.io, by a wide margin. Skool offers no custom domain website, no funnels and no email automation. Systeme.io includes funnels on every plan, a blog, a custom domain, email campaigns and automation rules, and its paid plans raise the caps.

This is where many Skool users add other tools: a website builder for the homepage, an email tool for the newsletter, and a funnel tool for the lead magnet. Each brings its own login and bill. Systeme.io bundles those pieces, which is why it often comes up as the cheaper choice for marketing.

Watch the caps on Systeme.io. The free plan allows 1 automation rule and 1 email campaign; the Startup plan allows 10 funnels, down from the unlimited funnels our older profile recorded. If you run many launches, you may need the Webinar or Unlimited plan sooner than expected.

Coachful includes a section-based website builder with a blog, custom domain, SEO settings and 30 designed homepage templates, plus booking, application, lead-magnet and checkout funnels with pixel and UTM tracking, and email lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences with triggers, delays, branching and A/B splits. It also includes a social planner and Instagram automations that send a booking link or lead magnet by DM when someone comments a keyword. If an affiliate program drives most of your sales, compare closely: Systeme.io includes one even on its free plan, while Coachful's affiliate tracking records payouts manually rather than sending them.

Which handles payments, booking and 1:1 clients better?

Neither handles 1:1 clients well. Skool processes payments only through Skool Payments and has no booking with client records. Systeme.io connects Stripe and PayPal with no platform fee, but our September 2026 profile found no native 1:1 scheduling with client records, habits or check-ins.

For a coach who sells sessions, this is the biggest gap. With either tool you typically add a scheduling app for bookings, a document tool for contracts, and a spreadsheet or notes app for client history. Skool also gives you no choice of processor, so if you want PayPal, it is not an option there.

Coachful covers this layer directly. Booking pages have availability rules, buffers, minimum notice and time-zone detection, with two-way Google, Apple and Outlook calendar sync and built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet and Teams links. Coaching agreements are signed electronically before the first call and stored on the client record. Payments run through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account, with subscriptions, payment plans, coupons, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Coachful does not support PayPal, so if your buyers rely on it, Systeme.io has the edge there. For more on booking, see scheduling software for coaches.

Which one looks like you?

Coachful builds your coaching website from a few answers, in a design chosen for your niche, with programs, booking and payments ready behind it.

Build your platform

What is the client experience like on each?

On Skool, a client joins a group: they see the feed, the classroom and the calendar, the same as every other member. On Systeme.io, a client buys through a funnel, gets emails and logs into a course area. In neither case does the client have a personal space with their own goals, sessions, habits and notes from their coach.

That matters most between sessions. A client who joined for accountability needs a reason to open the app on a Tuesday when there is no call. A community feed gives them other people's posts. A course gives them the next lesson. Neither asks how their week went or shows them a streak.

In Coachful, a client opens one branded home and app (the coach's branding inside the Coachful app) and sees their next session, their program week, today's tasks, habits with streaks, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars, documents, courses and the community. The coach sees each client's status as thriving, active, quiet or at risk, so the person drifting away shows up before they cancel. Coachful's app ships under the Coachful listing rather than the coach's own App Store account.

How easy is it to leave each platform?

Exports are limited on both, so plan for them before you build. In September 2026, our profiles recorded that Skool exports members to CSV (name, email, join date, membership answers) but not posts, DMs or course progress, and that Systeme.io exports contacts to CSV through an emailed link valid for three days, while courses and pages cannot be bulk-exported.

In practice, moving off either means rebuilding courses and pages by hand. Coachful offers a full client data export as a ZIP (roster, notes, check-ins, goals, habits, sessions and form responses) plus a course export, and when you join, your clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding.

Which should you pick for which kind of coach?

Match the tool to the shape of your offer, not to the lowest sticker price.

Is there a third option that beats both Skool and Systeme.io?

For coaches who deliver programs, yes: Coachful covers the community Skool is known for and the funnels and email Systeme.io is known for, then adds the 1:1 client layer both lack. For a coach who only runs a community or only runs a funnel, one of the other two may be enough.

What Coachful is. Coachful is a coaching platform. One subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant, with one login for the coach and one branded app for the client. It is built for coaches who deliver programs, not just sessions; solo coaches growing into a small team; and coaches replacing four to six tools. The company is based in Tallinn, Estonia, and holds a 4.5 Trustpilot rating from 21 reviews.

What it does that neither Skool nor Systeme.io does.

  • Multi-week programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks.
  • A client record with goals, check-ins, habits, notes, intake answers, tags, payments, sessions and an AI briefing per client.
  • Booking with two-way calendar sync, reminders by email, plus SMS and WhatsApp once messaging is enabled, and paid sessions or session credits.
  • Coaching agreements with e-signature, sent before the first call.
  • Michelle, the built-in AI assistant, which works from your live practice data to build programs, draft emails, summarize recorded sessions and brief you before each session. Questions and planning are included in your Coachful membership; confirmed builds and changes use AI credits.
  • ICF credential tracking that counts coaching hours and distinct clients against ACC, PCC and MCC thresholds and exports a client coaching log (ICF hour tracking).
  • A Fitness & Nutrition pack with a workout builder, client workout logging, nutrition targets, meal plans and progress photos (fitness and nutrition coaching).

Coachful's client dashboard with demo clients, status tags, task completion and check-in rates.

Here is a short walkthrough of how a client moves through a Coachful program:

Where Coachful does not beat them.

  • No permanent free plan. Systeme.io's free plan is hard to beat for a coach with no budget; Coachful offers a free trial instead.
  • No PayPal. Systeme.io supports it.
  • No gamified leaderboards in the community. Skool's gamification is its strongest feature.
  • The affiliate program records payouts manually rather than sending them.
  • Not HIPAA-certified, not a course marketplace, and not a general website builder for non-coaching sites.
  • The client app carries your branding inside the Coachful app, not under your own App Store account.

On cost, the comparison that matters is the stack. If you run Skool for the group, Systeme.io for funnels and email, a scheduling app, an e-signature tool and a habit tracker, add up those bills and compare them with one Coachful plan. Current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients. For a coach with around 15 active clients, the matching plan is Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients. Coachful charges a 0% platform fee on sales, so the plan price is the whole platform cost.

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. On every plan, you can ask the Coachful team to build something for you from Create > We'll build it for you. Describe what you want (a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline, email sequence, form, link in bio or webinar page), attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files, and the team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. Nothing gets invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. Recent examples include a somatic coach leaving Kajabi who had the homepage and About page rebuilt with the contact form connected, and a business mentor for beauty professionals who got a 12-week mentorship sales page, a start-up-guide funnel and rewritten follow-up emails. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. Read more about the free white-glove service.

What do coaches most often get wrong when choosing?

The common mistake is choosing on plan price alone. A $9 plan that takes 10% of every sale is not cheaper than a $97 plan with no fee once revenue passes about $1,000 a month, as the Skool Hobby rate shows, even before processing fees. Here are three checks worth running before you sign up.

  1. Price your real month. Multiply your expected sales by each platform's fee, add the plan price, and add every other tool you would still need.
  2. Walk your client's week. List what a client does between sessions and see where each step happens. If the answer is "in a different app" more than once, you are buying a stack, not a platform.
  3. Check the exit. Ask what you can export. Member lists alone do not move a coaching business.

If you are still comparing, our guides to Skool alternatives with 1:1 coaching and Systeme.io alternatives cover more tools, and the comparison hub collects every head-to-head.

Frequently asked questions

Is Skool or Systeme.io cheaper for coaches?

Systeme.io is usually cheaper. It has a free plan and paid plans at $17, $47 and $97 a month with 0% transaction fees, as listed in October 2026. Skool costs $9 or $99 a month but takes 10% + 30¢ (Hobby) or 2.9% + 30¢ and up (Pro) on every sale, so its cost rises with revenue.

Can Systeme.io replace Skool for a paid community?

It can host one, but its community features are basic compared with Skool's. If the community is your main product and you rely on engagement features such as leaderboards, Skool is stronger. If the community sits next to a course and a funnel, Systeme.io's version may be enough.

Does Skool have funnels or email marketing?

No. Skool does not offer a custom domain website, funnels, email automation or a public API. Coaches who use Skool typically add separate tools for their website, lead magnets and newsletters.

Does either platform handle 1:1 coaching clients?

Not well. Neither offers per-client records with sessions, notes, habits or check-ins, and Skool has no booking with client history. Coaches who sell 1:1 work usually add a scheduling tool and a client management tool, or use a coaching platform such as Coachful that includes both.

Can I use Skool and Systeme.io together?

Yes. A common setup uses Systeme.io for funnels and email and Skool for the paid group. The cost is two subscriptions, Skool's transaction fee on group payments, and two separate places for client information.

Which has better reviews?

On Trustpilot in October 2026, Systeme.io showed 4.9 from 8,696 reviews and Skool showed 1.6 from 54 reviews. Skool's sample is small, so treat it as a signal rather than a verdict, and read recent reviews for issues that matter to your business.

Can I stay on Coachful at no cost, like on Systeme.io?

No. Coachful has no permanent free plan, but it offers a free trial. If you need a long-term free tool to build a list before you have clients, Systeme.io's free plan is a reasonable start.

What is Coachful's free white-glove service?

On every plan, the Coachful team will build a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline, email sequence or similar inside your account, usually within about 24 hours. You describe what you want and attach reference links and files. It does not cover recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing.

Does Coachful take a cut of my sales?

No. Coachful charges a 0% platform fee since August 2026. You pay only the processing fees of your own Stripe or Razorpay account, unlike Skool, whose fee applies on both of its plans.

Can I move my Skool members or Systeme.io contacts into Coachful?

Yes. Both platforms let you export members or contacts to CSV, and Coachful imports your clients, programs and content for you during onboarding. Course videos and pages usually need to be rebuilt, which the white-glove service can help with.
