Systeme io vs Kajabi (2026): Which Fits a Coaching Business?

Systeme io vs Kajabi (2026): Which Fits a Coaching Business?

Systeme io vs Kajabi comes down to budget against finish. Systeme.io starts with a free plan, tops out at $97 a month and charges 0% transaction fees on every plan. Kajabi starts at $179 a month ($143 a month billed annually) and gives you a more complete course, community and website suite, with higher contact limits on its upper plans. If you mainly sell low-ticket digital products through funnels and email, Systeme.io usually wins on cost. If you run a polished course and membership brand and can carry the monthly bill, Kajabi is the stronger product. If you are a coach whose income comes from 1:1 or group programs, neither one was built around your client's week, and that is the gap the last part of this guide covers.

Every price below is as listed on each vendor's own pricing page in October 2026. Where we rely on our September 2026 vendor profiles instead, we say so. We read the vendors' documentation and public reviews; we did not run paid accounts on either platform for this comparison.

Systeme io vs Kajabi: what is the short answer?

Systeme.io is the better pick on price and for funnel-led marketing; Kajabi is the better pick for a premium course or membership brand. Here is the answer by use case:

  • You are starting with no budget: Systeme.io. Its Free plan never expires, needs no credit card and includes 2,000 contacts, 3 funnels, 1 course and 1 custom domain. Kajabi has no free plan.
  • You sell a lead magnet, a low-ticket offer and an email sequence: Systeme.io. Funnels, email and an affiliate program are on every plan, including the Free one.
  • You sell a flagship course with a community and want it to look premium: Kajabi. It is built around products, communities and a website, and its Pro plan adds multiple brands and a branded App Store app.
  • You have a large list: Kajabi's Growth plan covers 25,000 contacts and Pro covers 100,000. Systeme.io's Unlimited plan removes contact caps for $97 a month, which is cheaper if you only need list size.
  • You coach clients 1:1 or in cohorts, with sessions, check-ins and habits between calls: neither is a natural fit. Systeme.io had no native 1:1 scheduling tied to client records in our September 2026 profile, and Kajabi has no habit tracking or daily client check-ins. A coaching platform such as Coachful covers that work in one login.

If you already know you are leaning one way, our deeper guides go further: the Systeme.io review, the Kajabi review and the ranked list of Kajabi alternatives for coaches.

How do Systeme.io and Kajabi compare side by side?

Side by side, Systeme.io is a lean marketing suite with generous free limits, and Kajabi is a premium product platform with a premium price. Both sell courses, communities, funnels and email; neither runs the client side of a coaching practice.

We rank on four things a coaching business feels every week: one login for the whole client journey, delivery between sessions, total stack cost, and setup effort (including Coachful's free white-glove build).

How much do Systeme.io and Kajabi cost in October 2026?

Systeme.io costs $0, $17, $47 or $97 a month; Kajabi costs $179, $249 or $499 a month, or $143, $199 or $399 a month when billed annually. Kajabi's cheapest plan costs more than Systeme.io's most expensive one.

Systeme.io's page shows prices with a "$" sign but does not name the currency. It advertises annual billing as "2 months free" without printing the yearly totals today; our September 2026 profile recorded $170, $470 and $970 per year for the three paid plans.

Thinking of launching your coaching business?

Answer a few questions and Coachful builds it around you: your website, programs, booking and payments. Ready in minutes.

Build your platform

Two limits catch coaches out. On Systeme.io, the Startup plan now caps funnels at 10 and courses at 5; our September profile had recorded unlimited funnels on that plan, so check the page before you plan a large launch calendar. On Kajabi, the Basic plan's 5 products include every course, coaching offer and community you sell, and it has no AI credits at all. For the full breakdown of each vendor, see our Systeme.io pricing guide and Kajabi pricing guide.

What do transaction fees and add-ons add to the bill?

Systeme.io adds no platform fee on sales; Kajabi adds none on Kajabi Payments or PayPal, but charges an extra 0.5% to 2% if you use any other processor. Add-ons, not fees, are where Kajabi's bill grows.

Systeme.io charges 0% transaction fees on every plan, Free included. You connect Stripe or PayPal and pay only their processing. Kajabi's US rates through Kajabi Payments are 2.9% + $0.30 per charge on Basic, 2.8% + $0.30 on Growth and 2.7% + $0.30 on Pro. If you connect a different provider (PayPal excepted), Kajabi adds its own fee on top of that provider's: 2% on Basic, 1% on Growth and 0.5% on Pro.

Kajabi also lists add-ons in October 2026: extra contacts at $125 a month per 25,000, and an AI credit top-up at $15 for 500 credits, which the page marks as coming. The page values the branded mobile app at "$199/mo", and its comparison table shows that app on Pro only.

Here is a worked example. The numbers are illustrative, not a real coach's figures: imagine ten program sales of $600 in one month, $6,000 in total, with about 15 active clients.

Setup (example)Plan cost per monthPlatform fee on $6,000 of salesWhat you still need another tool for
CoachfulSolo: $49/month for up to 20 clients0%; Stripe or Razorpay processing onlyNothing for booking, contracts, check-ins or habits; all included in your Coachful membership
Systeme.io Startup$17$0; Stripe or PayPal processing only1:1 scheduling with client records, e-signed agreements, habits and check-ins
Kajabi Basic on Kajabi Payments$179No extra fee; processing at 2.9% + $0.30 comes to about $177Habits, daily check-ins and per-client plans
Kajabi Basic on Stripe$179$120 Kajabi fee (2%), plus Stripe's own processingHabits, daily check-ins and per-client plans

The plan price is only part of the stack. A coach on Systeme.io usually adds a scheduler, a contract tool and something for between-session accountability. A coach on Kajabi often adds the same accountability tool. Each extra subscription is another login for you and for your client, which is why we weigh total stack cost and not only the sticker price.

Which is better for funnels, websites and email?

For funnels and email on a small budget, Systeme.io is better value; for a fuller website and unlimited funnels from the first paid plan, Kajabi has the edge. Both are strong here, because this is what both were built for.

Systeme.io includes funnels, email campaigns, automation rules, a blog and a custom domain even on the Free plan, with unlimited emails. The limits are what change between plans: 3 funnels on Free, 10 on Startup, 50 on Webinar and unlimited on Unlimited. The Free plan's single automation rule is enough to test a welcome sequence, not to run a business. Its Webinar plan adds evergreen webinars, which suits coaches who sell through a recorded masterclass. If funnels are your main question, our Systeme.io vs ClickFunnels comparison goes deeper.

Kajabi includes unlimited funnels, landing pages and marketing emails on every plan, plus one website on Basic and Growth and three on Pro. The catch is contacts: 2,500 on Basic, which a coach running paid ads or a popular lead magnet can pass within months. Growth also adds an affiliate program. We compared Kajabi's funnel and email tools against a coaching platform in Coachful vs Kajabi for funnels and email.

Coachful covers the same ground for a coaching business: a section-based website builder with a blog, custom domain, SEO settings and 30 designed homepage templates; booking, application, lead-magnet and checkout funnels with pixels and UTM tracking; a link-in-bio page that sells; and email lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences with triggers, delays, branching and A/B splits. The difference is where the funnel ends: a booking or checkout funnel drops the new client straight into their program, sessions and agreement, not into a separate course login.

If your site currently lives on Kajabi and you are weighing a move, our guide to moving a coaching website off Kajabi, Wix or Squarespace walks through redirects, domains and email lists.

Which is better for courses and community?

Kajabi is the stronger course and community platform; Systeme.io's course and community features are basic. If a course is your main product, this section is where Kajabi earns its price.

Kajabi treats courses, coaching offers and communities as products, and you can sell 5 on Basic, 50 on Growth and unlimited on Pro. Basic and Growth include one community; Pro includes three. Pro is also the plan for running several brands and for publishing a branded mobile app. If you are weighing Kajabi against other course tools, see Kajabi vs Thinkific and, for community-first sellers, Kajabi vs Skool and Kajabi vs Circle.

Systeme.io includes 1 course with up to 500 students on Free, 5 courses on Startup, 20 on Webinar and unlimited on Unlimited, plus a community. Our September 2026 profile described both course and community features as basic, which is the honest trade for the price. For a lead-magnet mini course or a self-paced add-on to coaching, basic is often enough.

Coachful includes courses with modules, lessons, drip release and completion tracking, plus downloads, videos, books, AI tools, events and bundles, delivered into the client's branded home and app. The community side has a feed, group chat, direct messages and video events, and cohort groups are created automatically when a client enrolls in a program. It also ships 48 course templates with quizzes. What it is not: a course marketplace. If you want buyers to discover your course inside a store, none of the three does that.

How do they handle 1:1 coaching, booking and client records?

Neither Systeme.io nor Kajabi gives you a per-client coaching record with sessions, habits and check-ins; this is the biggest gap for working coaches. Both can sell a coaching offer, but the delivery of it happens elsewhere.

Systeme.io, in our September 2026 profile, had no native 1:1 scheduling tied to client records, habits or check-ins. You can sell a coaching package through a funnel, but booking, session notes and accountability need other tools.

Kajabi packages coaching as products and communities, not per-client plans, and has no habit tracking or daily client check-ins. A client can buy a coaching product and join a community; there is no place for a client's weekly goals, morning check-in or habit streak, and no single record that shows you how each client is doing.

Coachful was built around that record. Booking pages handle availability rules, buffers, minimum notice and time-zone detection, with two-way Google, Apple/iCloud and Outlook calendar sync and built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet and Teams links. Email reminders go out automatically, with SMS 24 hours before and WhatsApp 1 hour before once messaging is enabled. You can charge for sessions, sell session credits and ask intake questions at booking. For multi-coach session types, round-robin or least-busy assignment spreads bookings across the team.

Each client's record holds goals, check-ins, habits, notes, intake answers, tags, payments and sessions, plus an AI briefing before you meet. Clients are marked thriving, active, quiet or at risk, so you can see who is drifting before they cancel. Coaching agreements with e-signature go out before the first call and are stored on the client record.

Which one looks like you?

Coachful builds your coaching website from a few answers, in a design chosen for your niche, with programs, booking and payments ready behind it.

Build your platform

What does your client actually experience?

On Systeme.io or Kajabi, your client gets a course login and a community; on a coaching platform, they get one home for their sessions, program, habits and messages. That difference shows up in renewals more than in sign-ups.

Systeme.io's homepage on a laptop and Kajabi's homepage on a tablet, side by side on a table
Systeme.io's homepage on the laptop and Kajabi's homepage on the tablet, the two platforms this guide compares.

On Systeme.io, a client typically lands in a course area and possibly a community, both described as basic in our September 2026 profile, which also recorded no branded mobile app. Session booking, reminders and between-call accountability arrive through whatever other tools you add, each with its own email and login.

On Kajabi, the course and community experience is more finished, and Pro-plan customers can offer a branded mobile app. A client still has nowhere inside Kajabi to log a daily check-in, tick off a habit or see progress against their own goals, because the platform is organised around products rather than individual coaching plans.

On Coachful, the client opens one branded home and app (your branding inside the Coachful app) and sees their next session, their program for this week, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks, plus courses, community and messages. You see the same activity from your side, so a missed check-in is a prompt to reach out, not something you discover at renewal.

Between sessions, you can also switch on the AI Coach for selected clients: an AI version of you, configured by you, that they can chat with between calls. For coaches tracking credentials, Coachful counts coaching hours and distinct clients against ICF ACC, PCC and MCC thresholds and exports an ICF client coaching log (ICF hour tracking).

How hard is it to set up, and to leave?

Systeme.io is the easiest to try, because its Free plan never expires and needs no card; Kajabi offers a 14-day trial with some features locked. Leaving is harder on both, because courses and pages do not export in bulk.

Trials. Systeme.io shows "No credit card required" under every plan's sign-up button. Kajabi's help center describes a standard 14-day trial where a card is optional; if you enter one, Kajabi places an authorization hold and charges on the day the trial ends. Bulk contact import, test emails and some automations stay locked until you activate a paid plan, which makes it hard to test a real migration during the trial.

Data export. Systeme.io exports contacts to CSV through an emailed link that is valid for 3 days; our September 2026 profile found that courses and pages could not be exported in bulk. Kajabi exports contacts, subscriptions, sales and members as emailed CSV files, while course content is downloaded manually, asset by asset, and our September profile noted that data is removed 90 days after cancellation. Either way, plan a migration as a project, not an afternoon.

Coachful imports clients, programs and content for you during onboarding, and exports full client data as a ZIP (roster, notes, check-ins, goals, habits, sessions and form responses) plus a course export, so you are never locked in. Monthly plans cancel in one click.

Public reviews. On Trustpilot in October 2026, Systeme.io held 4.9 from 8,696 reviews and Kajabi held 3.4 from 2,347 reviews. Coachful holds 4.5 from 21 reviews, a much smaller sample. Star ratings tell you about general satisfaction, not about fit for coaching, so read the reviews from people who sell what you sell.

Which should you pick for your kind of coaching?

Pick by how you earn: funnels and low-ticket products point to Systeme.io, a premium course brand points to Kajabi, and programs delivered to clients week by week point to a coaching platform.

Systeme.io

Best for a new coach or creator testing an offer with no budget, a coach whose income is mostly digital products and email, or anyone who wants a funnel, a blog, a course and an affiliate program for $17 to $97 a month with 0% transaction fees. The 2,000-contact Free plan is a genuine way to validate a lead magnet before paying anything. Pick it over Coachful if you mostly sell digital products through funnels, want a starter plan that costs nothing and never expires, or want PayPal checkout and a built-in affiliate program that handles more than tracking.

Kajabi

Best for an established course creator or educator who sells a flagship course and membership, wants a branded App Store app and can justify $179 to $499 a month. Its upper plans suit teams with many admins and lists of 25,000 to 100,000 contacts. Pick it over Coachful if a course or membership is your main product, you want your own App Store listing, or you need several brands and websites under one account on Pro.

A coaching platform

Best for life, business, executive, health and fitness coaches whose clients pay for change over weeks, not for a video library. If your offer includes sessions, accountability and a program, you need a client record, booking, agreements and between-session check-ins in the same place as the website and checkout. That is the brief Coachful was built for, with niche setups for life coaches, business coaches and fitness and nutrition coaches.

A note for health and fitness coaches: coaching is not medical treatment or therapy. Keep your work within coaching scope, and refer clients with medical conditions, eating disorders or mental-health concerns to a licensed clinician.

Is there a third option? When Coachful beats both, and when it does not

Yes. For coaches who sell programs and sessions rather than courses alone, Coachful replaces most of what Systeme.io or Kajabi does and adds the client delivery neither covers. We make Coachful, so weigh this section accordingly; we have tried to be as specific about its limits as about the other two.

Coachful's client program view on a laptop and its check-in flows library on a monitor
Coachful's client Programs view with a demo group program on the laptop and the morning and evening check-in flows library on the monitor.

What Coachful is. Coachful is a coaching platform. One subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant, with one login for the coach and one branded app for the client. The company is based in Tallinn, Estonia.

Who it is for. Coaches who deliver programs, not just sessions; solo coaches growing into a small team (Studio and Agency plans add coach seats with per-coach availability and staff permissions); and coaches replacing four to six tools with one.

Where it beats both.

  • Program delivery: multi-week programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks. Neither Systeme.io nor Kajabi offers habits or daily client check-ins.
  • One login for the whole client journey: website, funnel, checkout, agreement, booking, program, community and courses all in the client's branded home and app.
  • Payments without a platform cut: your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account, with one-time payments, subscriptions, payment plans, order bumps, coupons, refunds, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Stripe Tax. There has been a 0% Coachful platform fee since August 2026; you pay only processing. Unlike Kajabi, there is no surcharge for using Stripe.
  • Michelle, the built-in AI assistant: she works from your live practice data, builds programs, drafts emails and content, summarizes recorded sessions, briefs you before sessions, and can give you optional private feedback on your own coaching against ICF Core Competencies 3 to 8. Questions and planning are included in the membership; confirmed builds and changes use AI credits (AI coaching assistant).
  • Templates: more than 40 ready-to-film program templates, 48 course templates with quizzes, about 25 funnel templates, plus coaching flow and journey templates.
  • Fitness and nutrition: a workout builder with an illustrated exercise library, client workout logging with PRs, nutrition targets, meal plans, barcode scanning, progress photos and private form-check video.

This walkthrough shows how a program is built and delivered to clients inside Coachful:

Where it does not beat them.

  • No permanent free plan. Systeme.io's Free plan is cheaper for a coach with no clients yet.
  • No PayPal. Both Systeme.io and Kajabi support it.
  • The client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding, not under your own App Store account as Kajabi Pro offers.
  • Not a course marketplace, not a general website builder for non-coaching sites, and no third-party plugins.
  • The affiliate program is partial: it tracks links, clicks, conversions and revenue, but payouts are recorded manually rather than sent by Coachful.
  • No multi-stage sales deal board for large teams, no Salesforce or HubSpot integration, and no routing forms that pick a host from form answers.
  • Not HIPAA-certified (no BAA), and not for clinical record-keeping or insurance billing.
  • No Garmin, Fitbit, Whoop or Oura sync, Apple Health sync is not publicly available, and there are no stock exercise videos; coaches attach their own demo videos.

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. On every plan, you can open Create and choose "We'll build it for you · FREE" (or the "Want us to build it for you?" card on the Website, Funnels and Programs pages), describe what you want, and attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files such as logos, photos, brand guides and copy. The Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours: a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline and written material, email sequence, link in bio, lead quiz, event, automation and more. Nothing gets invented; no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. Recent anonymized builds include a somatic coach leaving Kajabi whose homepage and About page were rebuilt with the contact form connected, and a business mentor for beauty professionals who got a 12-week mentorship sales page, a start-up-guide funnel and rewritten follow-up emails. Read more about the free white-glove service.

Frequently asked questions

Is Systeme.io cheaper than Kajabi?

Yes, by a wide margin. As listed in October 2026, Systeme.io runs from a Free plan to $97 a month, while Kajabi starts at $179 a month ($143 billed annually) and goes up to $499. Systeme.io's most expensive plan costs less than Kajabi's cheapest.

Does Systeme.io charge transaction fees?

No. Systeme.io charges 0% transaction fees on all plans, including the Free plan. You pay only Stripe or PayPal processing.

Does Kajabi charge transaction fees?

Kajabi adds no fee of its own when you use Kajabi Payments or PayPal. Kajabi Payments processing for US accounts is 2.9% + $0.30 on Basic, 2.8% + $0.30 on Growth and 2.7% + $0.30 on Pro. If you connect another processor such as Stripe, Kajabi adds 2%, 1% or 0.5% depending on the plan, on top of that processor's fees.

Does Kajabi have a free plan or free trial?

Kajabi has no free plan. Its help center describes a standard 14-day trial where a card is optional, with an authorization hold if you enter one and a charge on the day the trial ends. Some features, including bulk contact import and test emails, stay locked until you pay.

Can I book 1:1 coaching sessions in Systeme.io or Kajabi?

Not in the way a coaching practice needs. Our September 2026 profile found no native 1:1 scheduling tied to client records in Systeme.io, and Kajabi treats coaching as products and communities without habits, daily check-ins or per-client plans. Most coaches on either platform add a separate scheduler and accountability tool.

Which has a branded mobile app?

Kajabi's October 2026 comparison table shows a branded mobile app on the Pro plan, which costs $499 a month or $399 billed annually. Our September 2026 profile recorded no branded mobile app for Systeme.io. Coachful gives clients your branding inside the Coachful app on every plan.

Can I move from Kajabi to Systeme.io, or the other way?

You can, but expect manual work. Both export contacts as CSV; Kajabi also exports subscriptions, sales and members, but course content comes out asset by asset, and Systeme.io courses and pages did not export in bulk in our September 2026 profile. Rebuild pages and courses before you cancel, and keep payment subscriptions in mind.

Which is better for a coach just starting out?

If you have no clients and no budget, Systeme.io's Free plan is the cheapest way to test a lead magnet and an email list. Once you have paying clients who need sessions, agreements and accountability, a coaching platform saves you from stitching tools together. Our guide for new coaches covers the first setup.

What is Coachful's free white-glove service?

It is a build service included on every Coachful plan: you describe a website, funnel, program, email sequence or similar, attach references, and the Coachful team builds it inside your account, usually within about 24 hours. It does not invent credentials, testimonials or prices, and it does not cover video recording, logo design, ads or ongoing marketing.

Does Coachful support PayPal?

No. Coachful takes payments through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account, with Apple Pay and Google Pay supported. If PayPal checkout is essential to your buyers, Systeme.io and Kajabi both support it.
