Hootsuite Free Trial (2026): Length, Card Rules and Costs

Hootsuite Free Trial (2026): Length, Card Rules and Costs

The Hootsuite free trial lasts 14 days, does not ask for a credit card and does not charge you automatically when it ends, as listed in October 2026. There is no free plan to fall back on, so staying means paying from $99 per user per month billed yearly, or $149 billed monthly. During the trial you are also capped at 10 to 20 posts a day per organization, and bulk scheduling is switched off.

That makes the trial a low-risk way to look around, but the decision after it is a big one for a solo coach. This guide covers the exact trial terms, what is not published, every plan and limit, what a coach pays at three sizes, and which cheaper tools do the same job. We make Coachful, a coaching platform with a social planner built in, so we have a stake in this comparison. We name what Hootsuite does better where it does, and we did not test these tools hands-on: vendor details below come from their own pages, as listed in October 2026.

How long is the Hootsuite free trial, and does it need a card?

The trial runs for 14 days on the Standard, Professional or Advanced plan, and Hootsuite's plans page says no credit card is required. Enterprise has no self-serve trial listed: it is priced through a demo request.

Trial termWhat Hootsuite lists (October 2026)
Length14 days
Credit cardNot required
Automatic charge at the endNone
Plans you can tryStandard, Professional, Advanced
Posting limit10 to 20 posts a day per organization, depending on plan
Bulk schedulingNot available during the trial
Free plan afterwardNone
Extensions or a second trialNot published on the plans page
What happens to queued posts and data afterwardNot published on the plans page

The no-card term is more generous than some direct rivals. Later, for comparison, asks for a card at signup and starts the paid subscription unless you cancel before day 14. For a broader look at how trials work across coaching tools, see our guide to coaching software with a free trial.

What can you do during the trial, and what is limited?

You get the plan you picked, with two published limits: the daily posting cap and no bulk scheduling. Hootsuite does not publish a line-by-line feature breakdown for trial accounts.

The limits matter less than they first sound for most coaches. Ten posts a day is far more than a typical solo practice publishes. The bulk scheduling limit is the one to notice: if your reason for buying is to load a month of posts from a spreadsheet in one go, the trial cannot show you that workflow, so you would be paying before seeing it run on your own content.

Two other things are worth checking early, because they are not spelled out for trial accounts:

  • AI credits. Paid plans list 100 AI credits a month. The trial allowance is not published, so check the counter inside the account before relying on Wisdom AI for captions.
  • Account limits. Standard caps you at 10 social accounts, and the higher plans list unlimited accounts. If you trial Professional or Advanced and later drop to Standard, you may need to disconnect accounts.

Thinking of launching your coaching business?

Answer a few questions and Coachful builds it around you: your website, programs, booking and payments. Ready in minutes.

Build your platform

What happens when the Hootsuite free trial ends?

You are not charged, and because there is no free plan, you have to choose a paid plan to keep using Hootsuite. That is everything Hootsuite's plans page states directly. It does not say what happens to queued posts, connected accounts, drafts or reports, or how long they are kept.

Since the terms are silent, plan for the cautious case:

  1. Do not leave client-facing or launch posts queued past day 14 unless you have already decided to pay.
  2. Keep your captions and images somewhere you control, not only in the trial account.
  3. Try the content calendar export before the last day. Hootsuite lists it on all plans, though it does not confirm the same for trial accounts.
  4. Ask Hootsuite support in writing about retention if your data matters, and keep the answer.

Then compare what staying costs against what you need. If you only post to a few networks, $99 a month may be a lot for what you use.

What does Hootsuite cost after the trial?

Hootsuite starts at $99 per user per month billed yearly or $149 billed monthly, and rises to $399 or $499 on Advanced, before taxes. Enterprise is priced by demo only. These figures were read in October 2026: annual prices from the plans page and its FAQ, and monthly prices from the pricing endpoint the plans page calls.

PlanBilled monthly (per user)Billed yearly (per user, per month)Yearly total (per user)Main limits
Standard$149$99$1,188Up to 10 social accounts; 100 AI credits a month; unlimited scheduled posts; benchmarking up to 5 competitors
Professional$299$199$2,388Unlimited social accounts; 100 AI credits a month; benchmarking up to 20 competitors
Advanced$499$399$4,788Unlimited social accounts; 100 AI credits a month
EnterpriseCustom, via demoCustom, via demoCustomCustom seats and AI credits

Two notes on reading this table. Every price is per user, so a second person on the account doubles the bill. And visitors in other currencies see local pricing: the same pricing endpoint returned identical numerals in euros from an EU address, so Standard reads €149 monthly or €99 a month billed yearly, and taxes are added on top.

What does each Hootsuite plan add?

Standard covers publishing, inbox and reporting. Professional adds automation and unlimited accounts. Advanced adds team controls. Enterprise adds governance and larger listening tools.

Standard

A publishing calendar with bulk scheduling and best-time recommendations, Wisdom AI for posts, captions, hashtags and images, the Hootbio link-in-bio tool, an all-in-one inbox for public and private messages with saved replies and contact notes, post performance and multi-network reports, 7-day social listening Quick Search, ads publishing and analytics, Canva and Adobe Express templates, and calendar export.

Professional

Everything in Standard plus DM automations, automated message responses, AI smart replies, tag and topic automations, contact profiles, inbox data export, custom-branded and tracked links, customizable reports, basic report exporting and scheduling, 30-day Quick Search, trend forecasting and automatic post boosting. For a coach, the DM automations are the main reason to consider this tier.

Advanced

Everything in Professional plus post approval workflows, internal comments, the ability to suspend scheduled posts, message assignment and skill-based routing, inbox team reporting, customer satisfaction surveys and advanced report exporting and sharing. These features are built for a team handling a high volume of messages, which rarely describes a coaching practice.

Enterprise

SSO, Lumen by Talkwalker listening, employee advocacy, a Salesforce integration, advanced analytics and alerts and expert onboarding. A coach is unlikely to need this tier unless they run a large organization.

Which fees and extras does Hootsuite charge?

Hootsuite has no transaction or processing fees because it does not take payments for your services at all. The main extra is seats, charged at the plan's per-user price. The plans page lists no other add-on prices.

Cost typeWhat is listed (October 2026)
Transaction fee on your salesNot applicable: Hootsuite does not sell your services
Payment processingNone for selling; you need a separate payment tool
Extra seatsEach seat at the plan's per-user price
Other add-onsNo prices listed on the plans page
OveragesNone published; AI credits and accounts are capped by plan
TaxesExcluded from listed prices
DiscountsNonprofit discounts on some plans

What does a coach actually pay at three sizes?

A solo coach pays $1,188 to $1,788 a year on Standard, and a three-person team on Advanced pays $14,364 or more. None of those figures covers booking, payments or client delivery. The scenarios below are examples that apply Hootsuite's per-user prices to common coaching setups.

To get your real number, add your current booking, payment, contract, course, website and email bills to the Hootsuite line. That total is the number to compare, not the social tool alone. Our page on coaching software explains what each of those jobs involves, and the comparison hub lists head-to-head guides.

How should a coach use the 14 days?

Run the trial as a test of one question: would this tool change how you get clients enough to justify the bill? Assume the clock starts at signup, so connect your accounts on day one and have real content ready.

  1. Before signing up, pick the plan you would actually pay for. Choose Professional only if you plan to test DM automations. A trial of a tier you will never buy tells you little.
  2. Days 1 to 2: connect your networks. Hootsuite connects Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Bluesky and Google Business Profile, plus WhatsApp messages in the inbox. Note anything that does not behave as you expected.
  3. Days 3 to 7: schedule a real week. Write a week of posts and time how long it takes. Use the calendar and try Wisdom AI on your captions, then judge how much rewriting they need to sound like you.
  4. Days 5 to 10: live in the inbox. Answer real comments and DMs there, since an all-in-one inbox is one of Hootsuite's real strengths. Note how many messages you get, because low volume weakens the case for paying.
  5. Days 8 to 12: test one automation, if you trial Professional. Set up an automated reply that sends your booking link, and follow the journey as a prospect would.
  6. Days 12 to 13: read the reports and decide. Export your calendar and write down what you would pay and what you would drop.

A good test at the end: count the bookings or sales you can trace to the tool. Fourteen days is short for social results, so also ask whether it saved you enough time to matter. If the answer is unclear, that is a reason to start on a cheaper tool or skip the annual bill.

What are the hidden costs and gotchas?

The main surprises are the per-user pricing, the size of the yearly bill and the fact that a coach still needs a separate stack. None of them is concealed, but all of them are easy to miss on a trial.

  • The advertised price assumes annual billing. The $99 headline is paid as $1,188 for the year per user, before taxes. Paying monthly costs $149, which is $600 more across a year.
  • Seats multiply everything. Adding a virtual assistant to Standard billed yearly takes you from $99 to $198 a month.
  • DM automation sits a tier up. If comment-to-DM is why you came, the real entry point is $199 per user per month billed yearly, about double the headline price.
  • AI credits do not scale with the plan. Standard, Professional and Advanced all list 100 credits a month, so moving up does not get you more.
  • The trial skips bulk scheduling. You pay before you can try the feature, even though it is on the paid plan.
  • Listening is short on Standard. Quick Search covers 7 days on Standard and 30 on Professional.
  • Cancellation and refund terms are not on the plans page. Read the terms before paying a full year up front, because we found no statement there about mid-term refunds.
  • Public reviews are poor. Hootsuite's Trustpilot score was 1.3 from 556 reviews when checked in October 2026. A review page is not a full picture of a customer base, but that score is reason to read recent reviews on billing and support.

The largest hidden cost is the rest of the stack. Hootsuite has no booking calendar, client records, payments, programs or courses, and its contact profiles on Professional and up cover social conversations only. Getting attention is only the first step of a coaching business.

Is Hootsuite worth paying for, by coach type?

It is worth it mainly for coaches who run social media as a major channel across many accounts, or who manage social for others. For most solo coaches, the entry price is more than the job calls for.

Coach typeVerdictWhy
New coach with few clientsSkip$1,188 a year is a lot before you have steady income, and free plans from Buffer and Later cover basic posting.
Solo coach posting to 2 to 4 networksProbably skipScheduling is available far cheaper. Buffer on three channels runs $15 a month billed yearly.
Coach with heavy DM and comment volumeMaybeThe inbox and Professional automations are strong, but check whether message volume justifies $199 a month.
Coach on many networks, including TikTok, Pinterest or BlueskyMaybeHootsuite's wide network list is a real advantage. Standard's 10 accounts is enough for most.
Coaching company with a marketing teamOften yesApprovals, routing and team reporting on Advanced earn their keep when several people share a calendar and inbox.
Coach who also manages clients' social accountsOften yesUnlimited accounts on Professional, plus reports you can export, fit agency-style work.

If you are just starting, our guide for new coaches is a better place to begin than any social tool, and what is actually free in coaching software sets out the options that cost nothing yet.

How does Hootsuite compare with cheaper tools and Coachful?

Hootsuite is the most expensive option here and the widest social suite. Buffer, Later, Planoly and Metricool all start far lower and keep to social, while Coachful covers the whole client journey and includes scheduling for the main networks. Prices are as listed in October 2026.

Some details the table cannot hold:

  • Buffer prices per channel, so a coach on Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook pays $15 a month billed yearly on Essentials. It publishes to X, Bluesky, Mastodon, Google Business Profile and more. See Buffer vs Hootsuite.
  • Later dropped X support in August 2025 and does not support Bluesky or Google Business Profile. Its Social Inbox starts on Growth at $37.50 a month billed yearly. See Hootsuite vs Later.
  • Planoly includes Creator Store on paid plans, with no Planoly cut, though Stripe and PayPal fees still apply. X is reminder-only. See Hootsuite vs Planoly.
  • Metricool adds X only through a $10 monthly add-on and keeps LinkedIn to paid plans. Its Flows feature handles Instagram comment-to-DM on paid plans. See Metricool vs Hootsuite.

Where does Coachful fit if you are weighing up Hootsuite?

Coachful is the recommendation for most coaches reading this, because the bottleneck in a coaching business is usually what happens after someone sees a post. It is a coaching platform where one subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant. There is one login for the coach and one branded app for the client.

Who it is for: coaches who deliver programs, not just sessions; solo coaches growing into a small team; and coaches replacing 4 to 6 tools. Current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients.

The social side

The social planner, under Sell, gives you AI help with post ideas and captions, then schedules and publishes to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads and YouTube from one calendar. Each network publishes separately, with a per-network retry and a notification if one fails.

Instagram automations cover the comment-to-DM job that pushes coaches toward a Hootsuite Professional plan. Triggers include a DM, a comment on a post (optionally only with chosen keywords), a story reply, a mention, or a new follower where Meta supports it. Actions can send a DM, reply publicly to the comment, send a DM with buttons or quick replies, or send an AI-written reply at 1 AI credit per reply. A typical use: someone comments a keyword, gets your booking link or lead magnet in a DM, and lands in the same lead and client records you use for coaching.

The part Hootsuite does not do

Once a follower becomes a lead, Coachful carries on. Booking pages handle availability rules, buffers, minimum notice and time-zone detection, with two-way Google, Apple and Outlook calendar sync. See scheduling software for coaches. Coaching agreements with e-signature go out before the first call, as described on our coaching contracts page.

Coachful sessions calendar with a full month of coaching sessions

Payments run through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account, with one-time charges, subscriptions, payment plans, coupons and refunds. The Coachful platform fee is 0% since August 2026, so you only pay Stripe or Razorpay processing. Details are on the coaching payment software page.

Coachful payments tab with an invoice table
Coachful's Payments tab with two sample invoices in an invoice table.

Delivery covers multi-week programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits and morning and evening check-ins, plus courses, a community and a client record that shows goals, notes, payments and status at a glance. Michelle, the built-in AI assistant, works from your live practice data to draft emails and content, build programs and brief you before sessions. Questions and planning are included in your Coachful membership, while confirmed builds and changes use AI credits.

The website builder, funnels and email sit in the same account. This short walkthrough shows how funnels are set up:

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. From Create, under "We'll build it for you," you describe what you want: a website, funnel, offer page, program, course outline, email sequence, form, link in bio or something else. You can attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files. The Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. It invents nothing, so there are no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. One recent build: a leadership coach with a Squarespace renewal days away got one clean homepage with a repeated "talk with me" button. Read more about what the white-glove team builds.

Coachful Create page with the We will build it for you card
Coachful's Create page with the card for requesting a white-glove build.

What Coachful does not do

  • No TikTok or Pinterest publishing, social analytics dashboards or unified social inbox. If those are central to your marketing, keep a social tool such as Hootsuite or Buffer beside it.
  • No WhatsApp, Messenger, TikTok or SMS DM automation, no follow-gate, and no email capture inside the DM.
  • Not HIPAA-certified, with no BAA; not for clinical record-keeping or insurance billing.
  • No PayPal and no permanent free plan.
  • The client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding, not under your own App Store account.
  • No Salesforce or HubSpot integration, no multi-stage sales board for large teams.

How to start: begin with a free trial, then ask for a white-glove build of whatever you least want to set up yourself. Clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding. Teams can read about coach seats on the Coachful for teams page. Coachful's Trustpilot score is 4.5 from 21 reviews, which is a small sample.

How can you save money on Hootsuite?

Bill yearly, buy the fewest seats and the lowest tier that does the job, and check whether you qualify for a nonprofit discount. Yearly billing is the biggest single saving, if you are sure you will stay.

PlanYearly cost if billed monthlyYearly cost if billed yearlySaving per user
Standard$1,788$1,188$600
Professional$3,588$2,388$1,200
Advanced$5,988$4,788$1,200
  • Pay monthly for the first few months if you are unsure. It costs more per month, but you avoid committing to a full year before you know you will use it.
  • Audit seats. Ask whether a virtual assistant truly needs a login, as each one adds the full per-user price.
  • Start on Standard. Move up only if you have proof that DM automations bring in leads.
  • Ask about nonprofit pricing. Hootsuite lists discounts on some plans.
  • Price the alternatives first. A coach on three networks would pay $15 a month on Buffer rather than $99, a difference of $1,008 a year billed yearly.

The cheapest fix of all is to reduce the number of separate tools you pay for. Our guide to free booking software for coaches covers one slice of that if you are building on a tight budget, and a coach in fitness can look at Coachful for fitness coaches to see the niche tools.

Hootsuite free trial FAQ

How long is the Hootsuite free trial?

It lasts 14 days, as listed in October 2026. It is offered on the Standard, Professional and Advanced plans. Enterprise goes through a demo request instead.

Does the Hootsuite free trial need a credit card?

No. Hootsuite's plans page says no credit card is required. That also means no automatic charge when the trial ends.

Does Hootsuite have a free plan?

No. Once the trial ends you need a paid plan to keep using it. Buffer, Later, Planoly and Metricool all offer free plans, with tight limits, if you need a no-cost option.

What are the limits on the trial?

Trial accounts can publish 10 to 20 posts a day per organization, depending on plan, and bulk scheduling is not available. Hootsuite does not publish any other trial-specific limits on its plans page. Check AI credits inside the account if they matter to you.

What happens to my scheduled posts when the trial ends?

Hootsuite's plans page does not say. Treat anything queued past day 14 as at risk unless you have chosen a paid plan, and keep your own copy of your content. Ask support in writing if you need a firm answer.

Can I extend the trial or start another one?

Extension and repeat-trial terms are not published on the plans page. Ask support before day 14 if you need more time. Starting only when you have real content ready is the safer plan.

How much does Hootsuite cost after the trial?

Standard is $99 per user per month billed yearly or $149 monthly. Professional is $199 or $299, and Advanced is $399 or $499, before taxes. Enterprise is custom.

Can Hootsuite run my coaching business?

No, and it does not claim to. It has no booking calendar, client records, payments, programs or courses. It handles social publishing, messages, listening and reporting, and you would need other tools for the rest.

Can Coachful replace Hootsuite?

For many coaches, yes: it schedules to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads and YouTube, and automates Instagram DMs and comment replies. It will not replace Hootsuite if you need TikTok or Pinterest publishing, analytics dashboards or a unified social inbox. In that case, run a social tool beside it.

What is Coachful's white-glove build service?

It is a free service on every plan where the Coachful team builds what you describe inside your own account, such as a website, funnel, program or email sequence. Builds usually take about 24 hours. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing, and nothing about you gets invented.
