Kartra vs Systeme io: Which Fits a Coach in 2026?

Kartra vs Systeme io comes down to budget and scale. Systeme.io is the cheaper funnel and email suite: a free plan that never expires, paid plans from $17 a month and 0% transaction fees on every plan. Kartra costs more ($59 to $549 a month as listed in October 2026) and adds calendars, SMS, a helpdesk and deeper funnel analytics on its higher plans. For a coach, the honest catch is that neither was built to deliver coaching itself: no client habits, no check-ins, no per-client coaching plans.
This guide compares the two head to head for coaches: plans, real costs at different list sizes, feature by feature, and what your clients experience after they pay. Then it covers a third option, Coachful, built for coaches who deliver programs and not only sell them. We make Coachful, so we say plainly where it beats both tools and where it does not.
What is the short answer by use case?
Pick Systeme.io if you want the lowest cost marketing stack; pick Kartra if you need calendars, SMS and a helpdesk inside your marketing suite and can pay for them. If most of your revenue comes from 1:1 or group coaching, a coaching platform usually fits better than either.
- You are starting out and money is tight: Systeme.io. The free plan covers 2,000 contacts, 3 funnels, 1 course and 1 custom domain, with no credit card required.
- You sell a course or low-ticket product through funnels: Systeme.io for price; Kartra if you want built-in video hosting and funnel simulation.
- You run a sales team, take calls and want SMS and a support desk: Kartra Starter or Growth.
- You coach clients through multi-week programs: neither tool tracks habits, daily tasks or check-ins. Coachful does, along with booking, payments, contracts and a branded client app.

How do Kartra and Systeme.io compare side by side?
Ranked on what matters most to a working coach: one login for the whole client journey, between-session delivery, total stack cost, and setup effort (including a free white-glove build).
| Tool | Best for | Entry price | 1:1 booking | Habits and check-ins | Transaction fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Coaches who sell and deliver programs in one place | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients | Yes, with two-way calendar sync and video links | Yes: habits, daily tasks, morning and evening check-ins | 0% platform fee; Stripe or Razorpay processing only |
| Systeme.io | Low-cost funnels, email and courses | Free; paid from $17/mo | Not native (September 2026 profile) | No | 0% on all plans |
| Kartra | Marketing suite with calendars, SMS and helpdesk | $59/mo ($52/mo annual) | Calendars from Starter ($119/mo) | No | 5% on Essentials; 0% on Starter and Growth |
Two quick reads from that table. Systeme.io wins on price at every level. Kartra wins on breadth inside the marketing layer. Neither covers what happens between sessions, which is where most coaching results are made or lost.
What do Kartra and Systeme.io cost in 2026?
Systeme.io runs from free to $97 a month; Kartra runs from $59 to $549 a month, or $52 to $429 a month billed annually. These are the prices listed on each vendor's pricing page in October 2026.
| Plan | Monthly price | Contacts | Key limits and additions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful (current plans) | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients | Plans set by number of clients; Pro is unlimited | Flat monthly plans; booking, payments, programs, courses, community, website, funnels and email in each |
| Systeme.io Free | $0 | 2,000 | 3 funnels, 1 course, 500 students, 1 automation rule, 1 email campaign |
| Systeme.io Startup | $17 | 5,000 | 10 funnels, 5 courses |
| Systeme.io Webinar | $47 | 10,000 | 50 funnels, 20 courses, evergreen webinars |
| Systeme.io Unlimited | $97 | Unlimited | Unlimited funnels, courses and automation rules |
| Kartra Essentials | $59 ($52 annual) | 500 | 5 pages, 1 product, 1 course, 10,000 emails/mo, 30 AI uses, 5% transaction fee |
| Kartra Starter | $119 ($99 annual) | 2,500 | Unlimited pages and products, email and SMS, video hosting, calendars, 5 team members |
| Kartra Growth | $229 ($189 annual) | 12,500 | Automations, affiliates, surveys and quizzes, helpdesk, 3 domains, 10 team members |
| Kartra Professional | $549 ($429 annual) | 25,000 | Real-time funnel analytics, helpdesk live chat, 5 domains |

The fine print that changes the bill
- Kartra's contact cap upgrades you automatically. Kartra's pricing page states that going over your lead limit moves you up a plan, with a mid-cycle reconciliation fee, and that there are no add-ons to buy more capacity. A coach on Starter who crosses 2,500 contacts jumps to Growth.
- Kartra Essentials takes 5% of sales. On $3,000 a month of coaching sales (an illustrative figure), that is $150 a month on top of the plan.
- Systeme.io annual billing is "2 months free". The yearly totals were not printed on the page in October 2026; an older profile listed $170, $470 and $970 a year.
- Systeme.io counts funnels and courses. Startup now caps you at 10 funnels and 5 courses; Webinar at 50 and 20.
- Trials differ. Kartra offers a 14-day free trial on any plan plus a 30-day money-back guarantee. Systeme.io has no trial because the free plan never expires.
For a plan-by-plan breakdown of each, see Kartra pricing and Systeme.io pricing.
A worked example: a coach with 3,000 contacts
Say you have 3,000 email contacts, sell a signature program and take discovery calls. These are example numbers to show how the plan math works.
- Systeme.io: Startup at $17 a month covers 5,000 contacts. You still need a separate booking tool for discovery calls and client sessions, plus somewhere to track client progress.
- Kartra: Starter caps at 2,500 contacts, so you land on Growth at $229 a month ($189 annual). Calendars are included, but client habits and check-ins are not.
- Coachful: pricing depends on how many active clients you coach, not on email contacts. For 15 clients: Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients. Booking, payments, contracts, programs and email sit in the same subscription.
How do the funnels and websites compare?
Both tools are funnel builders first, and both do it well enough for most coaches. Kartra adds a funnel mapper and funnel simulation (Growth) and real-time funnel analytics (Professional). Systeme.io offers sales funnels, a blog and a custom domain even on the free plan, with funnel counts capped by plan.

Kartra lists pages, checkouts, forms and 100 pre-built campaigns from Essentials, but Essentials allows only 5 pages and 1 product. Unlimited pages start at Starter. That makes Essentials a trial run more than a working plan for a coach with several offers.

Systeme.io bundles funnels, a blog, courses, a community and an affiliate program into each plan, including the free one. Coaches who compared Systeme.io with a dedicated funnel tool will find more in our Systeme.io vs ClickFunnels comparison.
Portability is worth checking before you build. An older Kartra profile (September 2026) notes that pages and funnels export only as Kartra elements and memberships must be rebuilt elsewhere. For Systeme.io, the same profile notes contacts export to CSV, while courses and pages are not bulk-exportable.
How do email, SMS and automation compare?
Systeme.io includes unlimited emails on every plan but limits automation rules on the free plan to one; Kartra adds SMS from Starter and full automations from Growth.
- Systeme.io: unlimited email sending on all plans. The free plan allows 1 automation rule and 1 email campaign; Unlimited removes the caps.
- Kartra: Essentials caps you at 10,000 emails a month. Starter adds unlimited email and SMS. Automations sit on Growth.
If SMS reminders matter to you and you are choosing between these two, Kartra is the one that includes them. If you mainly send newsletters and sequences, Systeme.io does the job for far less.
How do courses, memberships and community compare?
Both host courses. Systeme.io caps the number of courses by plan (1, 5, 20, unlimited) and its community and course features are described as basic in our September 2026 profile. Kartra's Essentials allows 1 membership; Starter makes memberships unlimited and adds video hosting.
Neither offers a branded mobile app for students according to those older profiles, so clients log in on the web. That is fine for a self-paced course. It is a weaker fit for a coaching client you expect to check in daily.
How do scheduling and client management compare?
This is the biggest gap for coaches. Kartra includes calendars from Starter upward; Systeme.io has no native 1:1 scheduling with client records according to our September 2026 profile. Neither has client habits, check-ins or per-client coaching plans.
In practice, a Systeme.io coach adds a booking tool, and both Kartra and Systeme.io coaches keep client notes, goals and progress somewhere else: a spreadsheet, a notes app, or a separate coaching tool. That second login is where details slip. We wrote a full guide on running coaching programs without Kartra if you want to see what that journey looks like when it is planned around the client.
How do payments and fees compare?
Systeme.io charges 0% transaction fees on every plan, including free, and works with Stripe and PayPal. Kartra charges 5% on Essentials and 0% on Starter and Growth; Professional's fee is not stated on the current page (an older profile said 0%).
Kartra itself is billed by card in USD and does not accept PayPal for the subscription, though you can sell with Stripe, PayPal and other processors according to an older profile. Systeme.io's pricing page shows "$" without naming the currency.
What do reviewers say about Kartra and Systeme.io?
Systeme.io scores much higher with public reviewers. As listed in October 2026, Systeme.io has a Trustpilot score of 4.9 from 8,696 reviews; Kartra has 3.2 from 129 reviews.
Review counts tell you something too. Systeme.io's large pool reflects a large base of users on its free and low-cost plans. Kartra's smaller pool means each review moves the score more. Read recent reviews for support and billing themes, since both affect a small business more than any single feature.
What does the client experience look like on each?
On both tools, a client experiences your marketing: a sales page, a checkout, emails and a course login. What a coaching client needs after that (a plan for this week, a place to log habits, a check-in, a link to the next session, a record of what was agreed) is not part of either product.
Here is the difference in one example journey for a 12-week program client:
| Step | Systeme.io | Kartra |
|---|---|---|
| Coachful: all steps | Booking, checkout, e-signed agreement, program weeks with habits and check-ins, sessions, community and course in one branded client app | |
| Discovery call | External booking tool | Kartra calendar (Starter and up) |
| Payment | Systeme.io checkout, 0% fee | Kartra checkout (5% on Essentials) |
| Coaching agreement | Separate e-signature tool | Separate e-signature tool |
| Weekly tasks and habits | Not available | Not available |
| Check-ins between sessions | Form or email workaround | Survey or email workaround (surveys on Growth) |
| Course content | Systeme.io course area | Kartra membership area |
Workarounds can work. They also mean your client gets several logins and you get several places to look before each session.
Which should you pick for which kind of coach?
Match the tool to how you earn. If you earn mostly from funnels and digital products, compare Kartra and Systeme.io. If you earn mostly from coaching clients, start with a coaching platform.
| Coach type | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Coachful: program and 1:1 coaches | Coachful | Sell, book, sign, deliver and track progress in one place; plans from Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients |
| New coach testing an idea | Systeme.io Free | Free funnel, email and 1 course while you validate demand |
| Course seller with a growing list | Systeme.io Startup or Webinar | Low cost per contact; evergreen webinars on Webinar |
| High-ticket coach with a sales team | Kartra Growth | Calendars, SMS, helpdesk, 10 team members, affiliates |
| Agency running many client funnels | Neither; consider an agency tool | See our GoHighLevel vs Kartra comparison |

Is there a third option that beats both for coaches?
Yes, if you coach clients and not only sell products. Coachful is a coaching platform: one subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant, with one login for you and one branded app for your client.

What Coachful is and who it is for
Coachful is built for coaches who deliver programs, not just sessions; solo coaches growing into a small team; and coaches replacing 4 to 6 tools. It is based in Tallinn, Estonia, and holds a Trustpilot score of 4.5 from 21 reviews.
Where Coachful beats Kartra and Systeme.io
- Delivery between sessions. Multi-week programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks. Neither Kartra nor Systeme.io has these.
- Booking built for coaching. Availability rules, buffers, minimum notice, time-zone detection, two-way Google, Apple/iCloud and Outlook sync, built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet or Teams links, paid sessions, session credits and intake questions.
- Contracts before the first call. Coaching agreements with e-signature, stored on the client record.
- A real client record. Goals, check-ins, habits, notes, intake answers, tags, payments and sessions, with a status of thriving, active, quiet or at risk and an AI briefing per client.
- No contact-count upgrades. Lower plans cap the number of clients, not email contacts, and Pro is unlimited.
- 0% platform fee. Since August 2026 Coachful takes no cut of sales; you pay only Stripe or Razorpay processing.

Here is a short walkthrough of how a client journey is set up in Coachful:
The marketing side is included too
You do not lose funnels and email by switching. Coachful includes a section-based website builder with blog, custom domain and 30 designed homepage templates; booking, application, lead-magnet and checkout funnels with pixels and UTM tracking; email lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences with triggers, delays, branching and A/B splits; and a social planner that schedules posts to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads and YouTube. Instagram automations can reply to a keyword comment with your booking link or lead magnet in a DM.

On the client side, your clients see their programs, sessions, progress and documents in one place, under your branding inside the Coachful app.

Michelle, the built-in AI assistant, works from your live practice data: it builds programs, drafts emails, summarizes recorded sessions and briefs you before each call. Questions and planning are included in your Coachful membership; confirmed builds and changes use AI credits.
Where Kartra or Systeme.io is the better pick
- You want a permanent free plan. Systeme.io has one. Coachful does not (it has a free trial).
- You sell mostly courses and digital products to a big list and rarely work with clients one to one. Systeme.io's contact-based plans are cheap for that.
- You need PayPal at checkout. Coachful does not support PayPal; both Kartra and Systeme.io do.
- You run a large sales team with a multi-stage deal board, or need Salesforce or HubSpot integration. Coachful has neither.
- You need a helpdesk with live chat for customer support. Kartra Professional includes one.
- You want a fully automated affiliate payout system. Coachful tracks affiliate links, clicks, conversions and revenue, but payouts are recorded manually.
Coachful is also not HIPAA-certified, has no Garmin, Fitbit, Whoop or Oura sync, and its client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding rather than under your own App Store account.
The free white-glove build
Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. On every plan, you can ask the Coachful team to build something for you inside your own account: a website, a funnel, a sales page, a program, a course outline and written material, an email sequence, a form, a lead quiz or an automation. From Create > We'll build it for you, describe what you want and attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files such as logos, photos, brand guides or copy. The team usually delivers within about 24 hours. Nothing is invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. It does not cover recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing.

Some recent builds, anonymized: a somatic coach leaving Kajabi had the homepage and About page rebuilt and the contact form connected; a business mentor for beauty professionals got a 12-week mentorship sales page, a free start-up-guide funnel and rewritten follow-up emails; a leadership coach with a Squarespace renewal days away got one clean homepage with a repeated "talk with me" button. Read more about the free white-glove service.

- Request a white-glove build of your website or first funnel.
- Your clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding.

Moving from Systeme.io specifically? See our Systeme.io alternative page, or compare more tools on our comparison hub and the coaching software overview.
How hard is it to switch between these tools later?
Contacts move easily; everything else takes work. Both Kartra and Systeme.io export contacts to CSV, according to our September 2026 profiles. Kartra memberships must be rebuilt elsewhere, and Systeme.io courses and pages are not bulk-exportable.
Plan for that before you build 20 funnels on either. If you move to Coachful, clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding, and you can later export your full client data as a ZIP (roster, notes, check-ins, goals, habits, sessions and form responses) plus your courses.
Frequently asked questions
Is Systeme.io cheaper than Kartra?
Yes, at every level. As listed in October 2026, Systeme.io runs from a free plan to $97 a month, while Kartra runs from $59 to $549 a month ($52 to $429 billed annually). Systeme.io also charges 0% transaction fees on all plans, while Kartra Essentials charges 5%.
Does Kartra or Systeme.io have scheduling for coaching calls?
Kartra includes calendars from its Starter plan ($119 a month). Systeme.io has no native 1:1 scheduling with client records according to our September 2026 profile, so most coaches add a separate booking tool. Coachful includes booking with two-way calendar sync and video links.
Can I track client habits and check-ins in Kartra or Systeme.io?
No. Neither tool has client habits, daily check-ins or per-client coaching plans. You would need forms, surveys or a separate tool. Coachful includes habits, daily tasks, morning and evening check-ins and goals with progress bars.
What happens if I go over Kartra's contact limit?
Kartra's pricing page says you are upgraded automatically to the next plan, with a mid-cycle reconciliation fee. There are no add-ons to buy extra capacity, so a Starter account crossing 2,500 contacts moves to Growth.
Is Systeme.io's free plan really free?
Yes. It never expires and needs no credit card. It covers 2,000 contacts, 3 funnels, 1 course with up to 500 students, 1 blog, 1 custom domain, 1 automation rule and 1 email campaign, as listed in October 2026.
Which has better reviews, Kartra or Systeme.io?
Systeme.io. As listed in October 2026, Systeme.io has a Trustpilot score of 4.9 from 8,696 reviews and Kartra has 3.2 from 129 reviews.
Does Kartra have a free trial?
Yes. Kartra offers a 14-day free trial on any plan and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Its pricing page does not state whether a card is required.
What is Coachful's free white-glove service?
On every Coachful plan, the team builds what you request inside your own account: a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline, email sequence and more. You describe it and attach references, and it is usually delivered within about 24 hours. It does not include video recording, logo design or ad management.
Can I use PayPal with Coachful?
No. Coachful takes payments through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account, including Apple Pay and Google Pay. If PayPal at checkout is essential, Kartra and Systeme.io both support it.
Should a coach choose Kartra, Systeme.io or Coachful?
Choose Systeme.io for the cheapest funnel and email stack, Kartra for a bigger marketing suite with calendars, SMS and a helpdesk, and Coachful if you deliver coaching programs and want booking, payments, contracts and between-session client work in one login.
