TidyCal vs Acuity for Coaches: 2026 Head-to-Head

TidyCal vs Acuity for Coaches: 2026 Head-to-Head

If you are weighing tidycal vs acuity as a coach, the short version is this: TidyCal is the cheaper way to take paid bookings, with a free plan and one-time lifetime deals, while Acuity Scheduling is the deeper appointment system, with custom intake forms, packages, memberships and text reminders on its monthly plans. Both are schedulers, not coaching platforms. Neither holds your client notes, delivers a program, tracks habits or runs check-ins between sessions, so the real question is whether a scheduler is all you need.

We make Coachful, a coaching platform that includes booking along with payments, contracts, programs and a branded client app, so we are not neutral. We have kept the TidyCal and Acuity facts to what each vendor documents on its pricing page as listed in October 2026 and what public reviewers report, and we say plainly where each scheduler is the better pick.

What is the short answer by use case?

Pick by what you actually do between bookings. If you only need people to book and pay for a call, TidyCal costs less. If you run a session-based practice with intake forms, packages and reminders, Acuity is stronger. If you deliver multi-week programs and want one place for the whole client relationship, a coaching platform such as Coachful replaces the scheduler and several other tools.

  • You coach in programs, not single calls: Coachful. Booking, payment, agreement, program, habits and check-ins sit in one login, and clients get one branded app.
  • You want the cheapest paid booking link: TidyCal. The Free plan already takes paid, recurring and package bookings through Stripe, with a 1% TidyCal fee on top of Stripe's fees.
  • You need detailed intake forms and session packages: Acuity. Custom intake forms come with every plan, and packages, memberships and text reminders start on Standard.
  • You are a small team sharing a booking page: TidyCal's Agency Lifetime adds round robin and a team page for a one-time fee; Acuity's Standard covers up to 6 calendars; Coachful's team plans add coach seats with round-robin assignment and staff permissions.
  • Your clients pay with PayPal or Venmo: Acuity, which lists Stripe, Square, PayPal and Venmo.

How do TidyCal and Acuity compare side by side?

The table below scores the three options on what matters to a coach: one login for the whole client journey, what happens between sessions, total stack cost and setup effort. On those criteria Coachful leads, TidyCal wins on price for booking alone, and Acuity wins on appointment depth.

Both scheduler profiles come from the vendors' pricing pages as listed in October 2026. On Trustpilot, TidyCal showed 3.1 from 182 reviews and Acuity Scheduling 3.6 from 687 reviews when we checked in October 2026; Coachful shows 4.5 from 21 reviews, a much smaller sample.

Answer a few questions and Coachful builds it around you: your website, programs, booking and payments. Ready in minutes.

Build your platform

What does TidyCal actually offer coaches?

TidyCal is a low-cost booking tool sold largely through AppSumo lifetime deals. It gives you booking pages, calendar sync and paid bookings, and on the Free plan you already get unlimited booking types and bookings, paid, recurring and package bookings, a digital storefront and subscriptions.

The paid tiers mostly add capacity and polish. Individual Lifetime adds Zoom, Meet and Teams links, group bookings, an AI booking assistant, custom emails, Google Analytics and Tag Manager, booking limits, CSV export, an API, booking approvals and Zapier. Agency Lifetime adds round robin, collective meetings, a team booking page and 10 SMS reminders a month in the US and Canada. Pro, the monthly or annual plan, removes TidyCal branding, adds a custom domain, unlimited calendar connections and unlimited SMS reminders, and drops the 1% platform fee.

What TidyCal does not do matters as much. Its pricing page lists no client records, notes, programs, habits, check-ins, courses, community, website builder or email marketing. It is a booking layer. For the full plan breakdown, see our TidyCal pricing guide, and if you are also weighing Calendly, our TidyCal vs Calendly comparison covers that pairing.

What does Acuity Scheduling actually offer coaches?

Acuity Scheduling, owned by Squarespace, is a mature appointment system aimed at service businesses that book a lot of sessions. Every plan includes unlimited services and appointments, custom intake forms, email reminders, time zone conversion and payments through Stripe, Square, PayPal or Venmo.

The Standard plan is where Acuity becomes useful for coaches who sell more than single calls: it adds text reminders, a waitlist, packages, memberships and gift certificates, and covers up to 6 calendars. Premium adds an AI Booking Assistant, a HIPAA business associate agreement, the option to hide the Acuity footer, multiple time zones, and custom API and CSS access, for up to 36 calendars. Enterprise is sold through sales with VIP account management.

Like TidyCal, Acuity stops at the appointment. It has no client portal for programs, habits, check-ins or messaging, and no courses, community, website builder or email marketing. Our Acuity Scheduling review goes deeper on day-to-day use.

How does pricing compare between TidyCal and Acuity?

TidyCal is far cheaper. Its Free plan takes paid bookings, its lifetime plans are one-time payments of $29 or $79, and Pro is $12 a month or $99 a year. Acuity has no free plan and starts at $20 a month ($16 a month billed annually), with the features most coaches want on Standard at $34 a month ($27 annually).

Acuity's annual billing saves 20%, and its prices exclude tax. TidyCal's lifetime prices are shown struck through from $144 and $240 and are sold on AppSumo with no renewal; Pro is sold on TidyCal's own site.

Acuity Scheduling pricing page with Starter, Standard, Premium and Enterprise plans
Acuity Scheduling's pricing page in October 2026.

Two pricing details change the real cost. First, TidyCal's 1% platform fee applies to Stripe payments on Free and both lifetime plans. As an illustrative example, a coach collecting $3,000 a month in paid bookings pays $30 a month to TidyCal on top of Stripe's fees, which is more than Pro costs; at that volume Pro is the cheaper TidyCal plan. Second, Acuity's Premium jump to $69 a month is mainly for teams, the HIPAA BAA or custom branding, so most solo coaches stop at Standard. Our Acuity Scheduling pricing breakdown walks through each tier.

Neither scheduler is your whole stack, though. Add a client portal or course tool, an email platform, a contract tool and a website, and the scheduler is often the smallest line. That is the comparison where Coachful usually wins: one membership instead of four to six subscriptions (current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients).

How do booking pages, calendars and reminders compare?

Both tools handle the core booking job well: availability, calendar sync and confirmation emails. TidyCal is simpler and lighter; Acuity gives you more control over reminders and the client's path through the form.

  • Calendar connections. TidyCal Free connects one calendar to read and one to write, with Google, Office 365 and Apple supported; the lifetime plans read up to 10, and Pro is unlimited. Acuity counts calendars as staff or resources: 1 on Starter, up to 6 on Standard, up to 36 on Premium.
  • Video links. TidyCal adds Zoom, Meet and Teams links from Individual Lifetime upward. Acuity's pricing page in October 2026 did not single out video links as a plan feature, so confirm the integration you use during its trial.
  • Reminders. Acuity sends email reminders on every plan and text reminders from Standard. TidyCal's SMS reminders start on Agency Lifetime (10 a month, US and Canada) and are unlimited on Pro.
  • Time zones. Acuity lists time zone conversion on Starter and multiple time zones on Premium.
  • Group sessions. TidyCal lists group bookings from Individual Lifetime. Acuity's pricing page does not list group sessions by plan, so check its class setup during the trial if you run group calls.

Coachful covers the same ground inside the coaching platform: booking pages with availability rules, buffers, minimum notice and time-zone detection; two-way Google, Apple/iCloud and Outlook sync; built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet and Teams links; and email reminders plus SMS 24 hours before and WhatsApp 1 hour before once messaging is enabled.

Here is a short walkthrough of how scheduling works in Coachful:

Which handles payments, packages and fees better?

Acuity has more payment options and no platform fee; TidyCal is cheaper to start but adds 1% to Stripe payments unless you pay for Pro. For coaches who sell session packages, both work, but Acuity's packages, memberships and gift certificates are more complete.

TidyCal takes payments through Stripe only, per its pricing page, and includes paid, recurring and package bookings plus a digital storefront even on the Free plan. Acuity connects your own Stripe, Square, PayPal or Venmo account and lists no Acuity transaction fee; you pay your processor's rates. Packages, memberships and gift certificates require Standard.

What neither offers is the rest of the money side of coaching: payment plans tied to a program, order bumps, invoices per transaction, or an agreement signed before payment. In Coachful, payments run through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account with a 0% Coachful platform fee, and cover one-time payments, subscriptions, payment plans, order bumps, coupons, refunds, Apple Pay and Google Pay, Stripe Tax, an invoice per transaction and manual invoices. Coachful does not support PayPal, so if PayPal or Venmo matters to your clients, Acuity has the edge there.

How do intake forms, contracts and client records compare?

Acuity is clearly better at intake: custom intake forms are included on every plan. TidyCal's pricing page focuses on booking types, payments and integrations rather than intake forms, so test its booking questions before you rely on them for a detailed questionnaire.

Neither tool sends a coaching agreement for e-signature or keeps a client record with notes, goals and history. That gap is where coaches end up adding a separate contract tool and a spreadsheet. In Coachful, a coaching agreement with e-signature goes out before the first call and is stored on the client record, alongside intake answers, goals, check-ins, habits, notes, tags, payments and sessions. See coaching contracts in Coachful for how that flow works.

A note for health and wellness coaches: Acuity offers a HIPAA business associate agreement on Premium, and TidyCal's pricing page does not mention one. Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and does not sign a BAA. Coaching is not medical treatment; if you work under a clinical license or store protected health information, use a clinical system and check the HHS guidance on covered entities. If a client describes symptoms, medication questions or anything that needs diagnosis, refer them to a qualified clinician.

Which one looks like you?

Coachful builds your coaching website from a few answers, in a design chosen for your niche, with programs, booking and payments ready behind it.

Build your platform

What is the client experience like in each?

With both TidyCal and Acuity, the client experience is a booking page, a confirmation email and reminders. That is clean and familiar, and for a single call it is enough. After the session, the client leaves the tool and you reach them by email or another app.

TidyCal's booking pages carry TidyCal branding unless you pay for Pro, which also adds a custom domain. Acuity shows its footer below Premium, and custom CSS is a Premium feature. On the other side, Acuity's intake forms let clients give you context before the first call, which TidyCal does not emphasize.

A coaching platform changes what the client sees. In Coachful the client gets your branding inside the Coachful app: their next session, pre-session tasks, programs, goals with progress bars, habits with streaks, morning and evening check-ins, courses and a community. The booking is one step in a journey rather than the whole relationship.

That matters most when results depend on what clients do between calls, which is true for most health, mindset, fitness and accountability coaching. If your clients only ever book one strategy call, a scheduler is fine.

How do teams, integrations and data export compare?

For small teams, TidyCal's Agency Lifetime is the cheapest route to round robin and a shared booking page, while Acuity scales further with up to 36 calendars on Premium and an Enterprise tier. Both export data, so you are not locked in.

  • Team scheduling. TidyCal Agency Lifetime adds round robin, collective meetings and a team booking page. Acuity's calendar limits set team size: 6 on Standard, 36 on Premium.
  • Integrations. TidyCal lists Zapier, an API, Google Analytics and Tag Manager from Individual Lifetime. Acuity lists custom API and CSS on Premium and more APIs on Enterprise.
  • Data export. TidyCal exports bookings to CSV on lifetime and Pro plans and has a built-in Calendly importer on every plan. Acuity exports clients and appointments to CSV from the admin.

Coachful's team plans (Studio and Agency) add coach seats with per-coach availability, staff permissions, and round-robin or least-busy assignment for multi-coach session types. It integrates with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar/iCloud, Outlook, Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Stripe, Razorpay, Zapier, Meta Pixel and GA4, and exports full client data as a ZIP. It does not offer routing forms that pick a host from form answers, which some scheduling tools do.

Is there a third option that beats both TidyCal and Acuity?

For coaches who deliver programs, yes: Coachful replaces the scheduler and the tools around it. For coaches who only need a booking link, no; TidyCal or Acuity will cost less and do that one job well.

A coaching session calendar on a laptop beside a booking page on a tablet

Coachful is a coaching platform built for coaches who deliver programs, not just sessions, for solo coaches growing into a small team, and for coaches replacing 4 to 6 tools. One subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and Michelle, a built-in AI assistant, with one login for you and one branded app for your clients. See how it compares as a scheduling tool for coaches or as full coaching software.

When Coachful beats both:

  • You run multi-week programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, check-ins and streaks, and want clients to see them in one app.
  • You want the agreement signed before the first call, the payment plan collected, and the client record built without moving data between tools.
  • You want your website, funnels, email sequences and booking in one place, with no platform fee on payments.
  • You track ICF hours: Coachful counts coaching hours and distinct clients against ACC, PCC and MCC thresholds and exports a client coaching log.
  • You want a briefing before each session: Michelle works from live practice data, summarizes recorded sessions and drafts follow-up emails.
Coachful client dashboard with client cards and status tags
The coach's client dashboard with status tags and check-in and task completion rates (demo data).

When Coachful does not beat them:

  • You only need a booking link and nothing else; a scheduler is cheaper.
  • Your clients pay by PayPal or Venmo; Coachful takes Stripe or Razorpay only.
  • You need a HIPAA BAA; Coachful is not HIPAA-certified, and Acuity Premium offers one.
  • You need routing forms that assign a host from form answers, or a Salesforce or HubSpot integration.
  • You want a client app published under your own App Store account; Coachful's client app carries your branding inside the Coachful app.

Pricing is flat and monthly: lower plans cap the number of clients, Pro is unlimited, team plans add seats, and monthly plans cancel in one click. For a solo coach with around 15 active clients, the matching plan is Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients. If you need room to grow without a client cap, start with Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients.

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. From Create, choose "We'll build it for you" and describe what you need: a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline, coaching flow, form, email sequence, link in bio or something else. You can attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files, and the Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. Nothing gets invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. In one recent build, a leadership coach with a website renewal days away got one clean homepage with a repeated "talk with me" button; in another, a somatic coach leaving another platform had the homepage and About page rebuilt and the contact form connected. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. Read more about the free white-glove service.

What do public reviewers say about TidyCal and Acuity?

Ratings are middling for both. On Trustpilot in October 2026, Acuity Scheduling showed 3.6 from 687 reviews (down from 3.7 from 623 in September) and TidyCal 3.1 from 182 reviews.

Read star ratings alongside the written reviews, since a score alone does not tell you whether complaints are about features, billing or support. TidyCal's lower score is worth weighing if fast support matters to you; priority support is a Pro feature. You can browse more comparisons on our comparison hub, or see the Acuity alternative page for a direct Coachful and Acuity view.

How should you test before you commit?

Run one real booking through each tool before you move your calendar. Acuity's 7-day trial needs no card, and TidyCal's Free plan lets you test paid bookings without spending anything.

  1. Create the one session type you sell most, with the same buffer, notice and duration rules you use today.
  2. Book it yourself from a phone, pay with a test card, and check the confirmation and reminder emails.
  3. Reschedule and cancel it, and see what the client receives.
  4. Export your bookings to CSV to confirm you can leave later.
  5. List what you still had to do outside the tool: send the agreement, add notes, share homework, follow up. If that list is long, compare a full platform.

FAQ

Is TidyCal or Acuity better for coaches?

TidyCal is better if you want the lowest cost for paid bookings, since the Free plan already takes payments. Acuity is better if you need custom intake forms, packages, memberships and text reminders. If you deliver programs, neither covers the work between sessions, and a coaching platform such as Coachful is the better fit.

Does TidyCal charge a fee on payments?

Yes. TidyCal charges a 1% platform fee on Stripe payments on the Free and lifetime plans, on top of Stripe's own fees. Pro, at $12 a month or $99 a year, removes the platform fee.

Does Acuity Scheduling have a free plan?

No. Acuity offers a 7-day free trial on every plan with no credit card, then starts at $20 a month, or $16 a month billed annually. Annual billing saves 20%.

Can I take PayPal payments with TidyCal or Acuity?

Acuity lists Stripe, Square, PayPal and Venmo. TidyCal's pricing page describes Stripe payments. Coachful uses Stripe Connect or Razorpay and does not support PayPal.

Which one sends text reminders?

Acuity sends text reminders from the Standard plan. TidyCal includes 10 SMS reminders a month in the US and Canada on Agency Lifetime and unlimited SMS on Pro. Coachful sends SMS 24 hours before and WhatsApp 1 hour before a session once messaging is enabled.

Is either tool HIPAA compliant?

Acuity offers a HIPAA business associate agreement on its Premium plan. TidyCal's pricing page does not mention one, and Coachful is not HIPAA-certified. Coaching is not medical care, so clinical records belong in a clinical system.

Is the TidyCal lifetime deal worth it?

For low booking volume, often yes: a one-time payment replaces a monthly fee. Keep the 1% Stripe fee in mind, though; once your paid bookings reach a level where 1% exceeds the Pro subscription, Pro becomes the cheaper option.

Can I move from Acuity or TidyCal to Coachful?

Yes. Both tools export bookings or clients to CSV, and Coachful imports your clients, programs and content for you during onboarding. Connect your calendar so existing sessions show up while you switch.

What is Coachful's free white-glove service?

It is a build service included on every plan: you describe a website, funnel, program, course outline, email sequence or similar, attach references, and the Coachful team builds it inside your account, usually within about 24 hours. It does not include video recording, logo design or ad management.

Do I still need a scheduler if I use Coachful?

No. Coachful includes booking pages with availability rules, buffers, two-way calendar sync, video links, reminders, paid sessions and session credits, so it replaces TidyCal or Acuity rather than sitting next to them.
