Acuity Scheduling Review 2026: What Coaches Should Know

Acuity Scheduling Review 2026: What Coaches Should Know

This Acuity Scheduling review comes down to one finding: Acuity is a mature, dependable appointment scheduler with intake forms, packages and memberships, and it does that one job well. What it does not do is run a coaching business. It has no client portal for programs, habits or check-ins, no courses, no community, no website builder and no email marketing. Coaches who sell single sessions and already have the rest of their stack will be well served. Coaches who deliver multi-week programs will end up paying for four or five other tools around it.

Below we cover what Acuity Scheduling does for each part of a coaching practice, what its four plans cost as listed in October 2026, what public reviewers praise and complain about, and which alternatives fit better depending on how you coach. We make Coachful, one of those alternatives, and we say plainly where Acuity is the better pick. Everything here comes from vendor documentation and public reviews, not from hands-on testing.

Acuity Scheduling review: what is the verdict in 60 seconds?

Acuity Scheduling is worth paying for if what you sell is booked appointments. It is a weak fit if what you sell is a program. Here is the short version before the detail.

Verdict at a glance

  • Who it suits: solo practitioners and small teams who sell sessions, packages or memberships of appointments, want custom intake forms on the booking page, and already have a website, email tool and course platform they like.
  • Who should skip it: coaches who deliver multi-week programs with habits, check-ins and messaging between sessions, coaches who want courses or a client community, and anyone trying to cut down the number of logins their clients juggle.
  • Public rating: 3.6 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 687 reviews, seen on October 25, 2026. The spread is wide: 43% five-star and 18% one-star.
  • Price: from $20 a month (Starter, one calendar), or $16 a month billed annually, as listed in October 2026. A 7-day free trial needs no credit card.
  • Our pick for most coaches: a coaching platform that includes scheduling, such as Coachful, because booking is only the first step of the client journey.

What is Acuity Scheduling?

Acuity Scheduling is an online appointment scheduler owned by Squarespace. Clients pick a service and a time on your booking page, fill in your intake form, pay if you require it, and get reminders until the appointment.

Acuity Scheduling's homepage in October 2026.

The product is built around calendars and services. A "calendar" in Acuity is roughly one bookable person or resource, and the plans are tiered by how many you need: one on Starter, up to 6 on Standard, up to 36 on Premium, and unlimited on Enterprise. Every plan includes unlimited services and appointments, so you are not penalised for booking more clients. You are penalised for adding more people or rooms.

The typical buyer is a service business that lives by its appointment book, coaches among them. Because it sits inside the Squarespace family, it is a natural option for coaches whose website already runs on Squarespace.

Three things Acuity is not, according to its own plan list and our vendor notes:

  • It is not a client portal. There is no space where a client follows a program, logs habits, completes check-ins or messages you between sessions.
  • It is not a content platform. There are no courses, downloads library or community feed.
  • It is not a marketing tool. There is no website builder of its own and no email lists, broadcasts or sequences.

That is not a criticism of the scheduler itself. It is a description of scope, and scope is what decides whether Acuity is a good buy for a coach.

Answer a few questions and Coachful builds it around you: your website, programs, booking and payments. Ready in minutes.

What can Acuity Scheduling do for a coaching business?

Acuity covers the booking and payment moment well and leaves most of the rest of the coaching journey to other tools. The breakdown below follows the five jobs a coaching business has to do: marketing, selling, delivery, client experience and admin.

ToolMarketingSellingDeliveryClient experienceAdmin

Marketing: can Acuity help you get clients?

Not much, and it does not claim to. Acuity gives you a booking page you can share or put on your website, and that is where its marketing role ends. Lead magnets, landing pages, newsletters and nurture sequences all have to live somewhere else.

The Premium plan lets you hide the Acuity footer and add custom CSS, which matters if you care about the booking page looking like your brand. On Starter and Standard the booking page shows the Acuity footer. For a coach whose website already does the marketing, this is fine. For a new coach starting from nothing, it means buying a website builder and an email tool on top.

Selling: how well does Acuity handle payments and packages?

This is one of Acuity's strongest areas. Every plan can take payment at booking through your own Stripe, Square, PayPal or Venmo account, and Acuity does not list a fee of its own on top of the processor's rates. Venmo and Square are less common among coaching platforms.

From the Standard plan you also get packages (for example, a block of six sessions sold at once), memberships and gift certificates. Packages are the feature most coaches care about, because selling sessions one at a time makes for a fragile income. Note that these are packages of appointments. Acuity can sell "six calls", but it cannot sell "a 12-week program with weekly lessons, daily habits and a group".

Custom intake forms are included on every plan, which lets you screen clients or collect background before the first call. Coachful handles the same step with intake questions on booking and a separate Intakes view for discovery calls.

Coachful Intakes page with total intakes, upcoming calls, conversions and a table of demo intake calls
Coachful's Intakes page with demo data: intake calls, upcoming calls and a conversion rate in one view.

One reviewer limitation is worth flagging here: a September 2026 Trustpilot review reports that Acuity's Stripe connection prevents use of Stripe's own Klarna and Afterpay options. If buy-now-pay-later matters to how you sell high-ticket coaching, test it during the trial.

Delivery: what happens between sessions?

Nothing, as far as Acuity is concerned. Once the appointment is booked and paid, Acuity's job is done until the next booking. There is no program builder, no habit tracking, no check-ins, no client goals, no course hosting and no messaging.

For a coach who sells one-off strategy sessions, that is fine. For most coaches it is the biggest gap, because the results clients pay for usually happen between sessions. Delivery then moves to a mix of email, shared documents, a course platform and a messaging app, which is exactly the patchwork most coaches want to escape.

Client experience: what does the client actually see?

Clients see a clean booking flow: choose a service, pick a time shown in their own time zone, answer your intake questions, pay, and receive confirmation and reminders. Public reviewers often call the booking process simple for clients, and it is the part of Acuity that gets the most consistent praise.

Email reminders are on every plan. Text reminders start on the Standard plan, so a Starter user relying on SMS to reduce no-shows needs to upgrade. Standard also adds a waitlist, which helps if your calendar fills up.

What clients do not get is a home. After booking they have an email confirmation and nothing else to log into. Compare that with a client hub that shows the next session, the current program, progress and documents in one place.

Admin: records, compliance and data

Acuity keeps client and appointment records you can export to CSV, according to our older vendor profile. Plans scale by calendar count, Premium supports multiple time zones and a custom API, and Enterprise adds account management, more APIs and a central dashboard through sales.

The admin detail that matters most for health-adjacent coaches is the HIPAA business associate agreement (BAA), which is only available on Premium. A BAA is the contract the US Department of Health and Human Services describes as required when a vendor handles protected health information for a covered entity. Most coaches are not covered entities, but if you are a licensed clinician who also coaches, that clause decides the plan for you.

Coaching is not treatment. If you diagnose, treat or bill insurance, you are running a clinical practice and need software built for clinical records, and clients who raise medical or mental health concerns should be referred to a licensed professional. Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and does not sign BAAs, so it is not the right tool for clinical work. Check with an attorney if you are unsure where your practice sits.

What Acuity lacks on the admin side is anything coaching-specific: no coaching agreements with e-signature, no client notes tied to goals, and no ICF credential hour tracking.

How much does Acuity Scheduling cost in 2026?

Acuity Scheduling costs $20 to $69 a month on its self-serve plans as listed in October 2026, or $16 to $55 a month billed annually, which saves 20%. Prices exclude tax, and Enterprise is quoted by sales. For the full breakdown, see our Acuity Scheduling pricing guide.

A few things stand out on the October 2026 pricing page:

  • Premium went up. In our September 2026 profile, Premium was $61 a month ($49 annually). It is now $69 ($55 annually), and it gained the AI Booking Assistant. A 2-star October 2026 review complains that prices have increased several times over the past year.
  • Standard is the real starting plan for most coaches. Text reminders and packages both start there, and most coaches want at least one of the two.
  • The trial is generous. Every plan has a 7-day free trial with no credit card, and you are not charged until you choose a plan. There is no permanent free plan.
  • No Acuity transaction fee is listed. You pay your processor's rates on payments.

As an example of yearly cost: Standard billed monthly comes to $408 a year, or $324 billed annually. Premium is $828 a year monthly or $660 annually. That buys scheduling only. A coach who also needs a website, email marketing, a course or program platform and an e-signature tool pays for each of those separately, and the total is what you should compare against an all-in-one plan (Current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients).

What do public reviewers praise and complain about?

Public reviewers mostly praise how easy Acuity is for clients to book, and mostly complain about reliability, support and changes since the Squarespace integration. The Trustpilot score of 3.6 from 687 reviews (October 25, 2026) hides a split audience: 60% of reviewers give four or five stars, while 26% give one or two.

What reviewers praise

The most common praise is simplicity. Reviewers describe appointment management as easy and the booking flow as friendly for both the business and its clients. One September 2026 four-star review sums it up:

"The booking process is very user-friendly for both clients and business owners." (4-star Trustpilot review, September 30, 2026)

Some reviewers also report good experiences reaching a real person in support who explained their problem clearly.

What reviewers complain about

The complaints cluster around five themes in the reviews visible in October 2026:

  • Outages and app problems. Several recent one-star reviews describe calendars going down for a day and the iOS app not working.
  • Notifications and time changes. A three-star reviewer reports that clients stopped receiving notifications, and a one-star reviewer reports problems with the autumn clock change. For a business that depends on reminders, both are serious.
  • Squarespace changes. Long-time users describe recent "upgrades" as a step backwards and note having to move to Squarespace accounts.
  • Support quality. Support gets both praise and criticism; some reviewers say support did not resolve their issue.
  • Price increases. As above, at least one reviewer objects to repeated increases.
"Not only have prices increased multiple times over the last year" (2-star Trustpilot review, October 21, 2026)

One October 2026 review describes an account being flooded with tens of thousands of fake appointments and the owner being locked out. It is a single report, but worth knowing if you run a public booking page with no payment requirement.

There is also a scope complaint that is useful for coaches to read correctly. A one-star reviewer in a clinical setting writes:

"a booking calendar is not an EMR." (1-star Trustpilot review, October 20, 2026)

That reviewer expected Acuity to do more than schedule. It never claimed to. The same mismatch happens to coaches who expect a booking tool to run their programs.

What are Acuity Scheduling's pros and cons?

Acuity's strengths are payments, packages and a clean client booking flow. Its weaknesses are scope, plan gating and mixed recent reliability reports.

Who is Acuity Scheduling best for?

Acuity Scheduling is best for appointment-led businesses that already have the rest of their tools. In coaching terms, that means a few specific profiles.

  • Session-only coaches who sell single calls or blocks of calls, keep notes elsewhere, and have no plans to run programs or courses.
  • Squarespace website owners who want booking in the same family as their site and are happy with their email and course tools.
  • Multi-practitioner studios that need up to 6 or 36 bookable calendars and care more about room and staff scheduling than client delivery.
  • Licensed clinicians who need a scheduler with a HIPAA BAA and are prepared to pay for Premium, while keeping clinical records in a proper EHR.
  • Coaches whose clients pay by Venmo or Square, since those processors are less common in coaching platforms.

Acuity is a poor fit for coaches who run multi-week programs, group cohorts or hybrid offers with content, and for new coaches who need a website, payments and delivery set up at once. For those coaches, booking is a small part of the job. If that sounds like you, our guide on managing client scheduling without Acuity walks through the switch.

What are the best Acuity Scheduling alternatives for coaches?

The best alternative depends on whether you want a better scheduler or a platform that replaces scheduling and the tools around it. We rank by what matters most to a coach: one login for the whole client journey, delivery between sessions, total stack cost, and setup effort.

1. Coachful: best Acuity alternative for coaches who deliver programs

Coachful's client Programs view on a laptop and a client goal screen on a tablet in a bright home office
Coachful's client Programs view with an enrolled group program on the laptop and a demo goal's daily momentum section on the tablet.

Coachful is a coaching platform where scheduling is one part of a single subscription that also covers payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant. The coach has one login and the client has one branded app.

It is built for coaches who deliver programs rather than just sessions, solo coaches growing into a small team, and coaches replacing four to six separate tools. The company is based in Tallinn, Estonia, and holds a 4.5 Trustpilot rating from 21 reviews.

Scheduling compared with Acuity. Booking pages have availability rules, buffers, minimum notice and time-zone detection. Calendars sync two ways with Google, Apple/iCloud and Outlook. Sessions get built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet or Teams links. Reminders go by email, plus SMS 24 hours before and WhatsApp one hour before once messaging is enabled. Paid sessions, session credits, intake questions on booking, and round-robin or least-busy assignment for multi-coach session types are all included in your Coachful membership. What Acuity does not do and Coachful does. Multi-week programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks. Coaching agreements with e-signature sent before the first call and stored on the client record (see coaching contracts). A client record with goals, check-ins, notes, intake answers, payments, sessions and a status of thriving, active, quiet or at risk. Courses with drip and completion tracking, a community feed, group chat and cohort groups created automatically on enrollment. A website builder with blog and funnels, plus email lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences. ICF credential tracking that counts hours and distinct clients against ACC, PCC and MCC thresholds.

Payments. Coachful takes payments through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account: one-time, subscriptions, payment plans, order bumps, coupons, refunds, Apple Pay and Google Pay, with Stripe Tax. Since August 2026 Coachful charges a 0% platform fee, so you pay only your processor's rates.

Michelle, the AI assistant, works from your live practice data to build programs, draft emails, summarize recorded sessions and brief you before each session. Questions and planning are included in the membership; confirmed builds and changes use AI credits.

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. On every plan, you can open Create and choose "We'll build it for you · FREE", describe what you want (a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline, email sequence, form and more), attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files, and the Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. Nothing is invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. For example, a leadership coach whose Squarespace renewal was days away got one clean homepage with a repeated "talk with me" button, and a menopause and midlife health coach starting from nothing got a five-page site where every button leads to a free 20-minute consultation. Read more about the free white-glove service.

What Coachful does not do. It is not HIPAA-certified and does not sign a BAA, so it is not for clinical record-keeping or insurance billing. It does not support PayPal, Venmo or Square. There is no permanent free plan. The client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding, not under your own App Store account. There are no routing forms that pick a host from form answers, and no Salesforce or HubSpot integration.

How to start. Start a free trial, import or describe your offers, and request a white-glove build for whatever you do not want to set up yourself. Your clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding.

Choose Acuity over Coachful if you need a HIPAA BAA, take payments by Venmo, Square or PayPal, or only ever sell single appointments.

2. Calendly: best for simple scheduling on a free plan

Calendly homepage introducing its scheduling tool
Calendly's homepage in October 2026.

Calendly is a scheduling tool with booking pages, reminders and workflows, and paid bookings through your own Stripe or PayPal account. As listed in October 2026, its Free plan covers one event type and one calendar connection. Standard is $10 per seat a month billed annually with up to 6 calendar connections and unlimited event types, and Teams is $16 per seat a month billed annually. It holds 4.1 on Trustpilot from 714 reviews.

Like Acuity, it has no client records, notes, programs, habits or check-ins, and no contracts or invoicing. Intake is limited to booking questions, whereas Acuity offers full custom intake forms. Per-seat pricing means each coach on a team pays separately. Our Calendly review and the Calendly vs Acuity comparison go deeper.

Pick it over Coachful if you only need a booking link, one event type covers your offer, and you want to pay nothing for scheduling.

3. Setmore: best low-cost scheduler for small teams

Setmore homepage introducing its appointment scheduling app
Setmore's homepage in October 2026.

Setmore is an appointment scheduling app with a booking page, reminders and payments. As listed in October 2026, the Free plan covers up to 4 users with unlimited appointments and one email reminder, but no SMS and no two-way calendar sync. Pro is $12 per user a month, or $5 billed annually, with 500 SMS credits per user per month and a 30-day risk-free refund window. It has the highest Trustpilot score in this list: 4.9 from 3,274 reviews.

Setmore has no client programs, habits, check-ins, courses or community, and its pricing page shows no contracts or invoicing workflow. It competes with Acuity on price, not on scope.

Pick it over Coachful if you run a small team that only needs shared appointment booking with SMS reminders at the lowest possible cost.

4. TidyCal: best budget booking tool

TidyCal homepage introducing its booking tool
TidyCal's homepage in October 2026.

TidyCal is a low-cost booking tool with paid bookings and packages. As listed in October 2026, its Free plan includes unlimited booking types and bookings with one readable and one writable calendar. Pro is $12 a month, or $8.25 billed annually, with unlimited calendar connections and SMS reminders. Lifetime plans are also sold. On Free and Lifetime plans TidyCal takes a 1% platform fee on Stripe payments, on top of Stripe's own fees; Pro has no platform fee. It holds 3.1 on Trustpilot from 182 reviews.

There are no client records, notes, programs, habits, check-ins, courses, community, website builder or email marketing.

Pick it over Coachful if you want the cheapest possible paid-booking page and will handle everything after the booking by hand.

Is Acuity Scheduling worth it for coaches? Our final verdict

Acuity Scheduling is worth it for coaches who sell appointments and nothing else, and not worth it as the centre of a program-based coaching business. Its booking flow, intake forms, packages and payment options are solid, and the 7-day trial without a card makes it easy to test.

Acuity Scheduling's homepage on one laptop beside Coachful's sessions calendar on another on an oak work table
Acuity Scheduling's homepage on the left laptop and Coachful's sessions calendar with demo sessions on the right.

The case against it for most coaches is scope rather than quality. Once a client has booked, Acuity has nothing more to offer them, and you still need a website, email marketing, a place to deliver programs, a way to sign agreements and somewhere for clients to log in. Add the gating of text reminders and packages to Standard, the Premium price rise, and the recent reviews about outages and notifications, and the value case weakens further for coaches.

If you coach in programs, a platform that includes scheduling software alongside delivery, payments and marketing can cost less than a scheduler plus four other subscriptions, and it gives clients a single place to show up. That is why we recommend Coachful for most coaches reading this review, and why its free white-glove build service exists: so switching does not mean rebuilding everything yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Is Acuity Scheduling good for coaches?

It is good for the booking step: intake forms, packages, memberships and payments through Stripe, Square, PayPal or Venmo. It is not built for program delivery, so coaches who run multi-week programs need other tools for habits, check-ins, courses and messaging. Session-only coaches are the best fit.

How much does Acuity Scheduling cost?

As listed in October 2026, Starter is $20 a month, Standard $34 and Premium $69, or $16, $27 and $55 a month billed annually. Enterprise is quoted by sales. Prices exclude tax.

Does Acuity Scheduling have a free plan?

No. Acuity offers a 7-day free trial on every plan with no credit card required, and you are not charged until you choose a plan. After the trial you need a paid plan to keep taking bookings.

What is Acuity Scheduling's rating?

Acuity Scheduling holds 3.6 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 687 reviews, seen on October 25, 2026. About 43% of those reviews are five-star and 18% are one-star, so experiences vary widely.

Is Acuity Scheduling HIPAA compliant?

Acuity offers a HIPAA business associate agreement only on the Premium plan, as listed in October 2026. Whether you need one depends on whether you are a covered entity handling protected health information, so check with an attorney. A BAA covers the scheduler only, not your clinical records.

Does Acuity Scheduling send text reminders?

Yes, from the Standard plan up. Starter includes email reminders only. If SMS reminders are central to reducing no-shows, budget for Standard at minimum.

Who owns Acuity Scheduling?

Acuity Scheduling is owned by Squarespace. Several recent public reviews mention changes tied to moving accounts onto Squarespace, some of them critical.

What is the best Acuity Scheduling alternative for coaches?

For coaches who deliver programs, Coachful replaces Acuity plus the website, email, course, contract and client portal tools around it in one membership. For a simpler scheduler only, Calendly, Setmore and TidyCal are lower-cost options. See our reviews hub for more.

What is Coachful's free white-glove service?

On every Coachful plan, you can ask the team to build a website, funnel, program, course outline, email sequence or similar inside your account, usually within about 24 hours. You attach up to 8 links and 10 files, and nothing is invented: gaps are left for you. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing.

Can I move my clients from Acuity to Coachful?

Acuity lets you export clients and appointments to CSV, according to our older vendor profile. Coachful imports clients, programs and content for you during onboarding, and you can export all client data as a ZIP later if you ever leave.
