Top 12 Practice Better Alternatives for Health Coaches in 2026

The best practice better alternatives for health coaches carry a client from the first discovery call to month six of habit change without needing four extra logins. Practice Better was built for wellness practitioners who chart, run telehealth and sometimes prescribe. Many health coaches pay for that clinical layer and still need a website, funnels, email and a community from other tools. So start with one question: do you need clinical record-keeping, or do you need a coaching business that keeps clients doing the work between sessions?
For most health coaches it is the second, and our pick is Coachful. It puts your website, booking, payments, agreements, habit programs, check-ins, community and a branded client app behind one login. We make Coachful, so weigh our ranking with that in mind. We have kept the other eleven tools factual, using what each vendor lists on its pricing page in October 2026. If you are a registered dietitian or another licensed provider who needs charting, superbills or insurance claims, read the Healthie and Practice Better entries closely, because a clinical tool may suit you better.

This guide is the health-coach version of our general Practice Better alternatives roundup. It follows the client journey a health coach actually runs: attract, enroll, deliver, retain. Then it shows which tool covers which stage, what each one costs at 5, 15 and 40 clients, and how to move your clients without losing their history.
What does a health coach's client journey need from software?
Health coaching software has to support behavior change between sessions, not just the session itself. The general description of health coaching centers on client-led goals, motivation and accountability. That makes daily habits and check-ins the core of the product, and charting the edge. Here is what each stage asks of your tools.
Attract: a website and a reason to book
Health coaches usually win clients with a specific promise: better sleep, steadier energy, a midlife reset, more vegetables on the plate. You need a site that states that promise clearly, a lead magnet (a 7-day hydration challenge, a meal-prep checklist) and an email sequence that turns readers into discovery calls. Practice Better, by our September 2026 profile, has no website builder or funnel pages, so most coaches on it rent those tools elsewhere.
Enroll: booking, intake, agreement, payment
A good enrollment flow books the discovery call, asks intake questions before it (current routines, goals, anything a doctor has told them), sends a coaching agreement for e-signature and takes payment, ideally as a payment plan for a 12-week program. The agreement matters more in health coaching than in most niches, because it is where you write down your scope.
Deliver: habits, check-ins and programs
Delivery is where health coaching lives. Clients need a weekly focus, small daily tasks, habit trackers with streaks, short morning and evening check-ins, and for some coaches nutrition targets, meal plans and progress photos. Coaching is not treatment. Your software should help you notice when something is outside your scope, and your agreement should say plainly that you will refer clients to their physician, a registered dietitian or a mental health professional for diagnosis, medical nutrition therapy, disordered eating or medication questions. The National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching publishes the standards many health coaches follow on scope.
Retain: community, app and re-enrollment
Habit change fades after the program ends unless there is somewhere to keep going. A community feed, a cohort group, a client app with the coach's branding and an automatic email offering the next phase keep good clients from drifting away. Most tools on this list handle one or two stages well. Very few handle all four.
Which tools cover which stage of the health coaching journey?
Coachful covers all four stages, including daily habits and check-ins, with one login. Coaches Console comes closest but lists no habit tracking. Clinical platforms such as Healthie and Practice Better cover enrollment and delivery well but have no marketing layer.
How we ranked: one login for the whole client journey, between-session delivery (habits, check-ins, programs), total stack cost at your client count, and setup effort, including Coachful's free white-glove build.

How did we choose these 12 tools?
We picked tools that a health coach could realistically run a practice on in 2026, then ranked them on the criteria above. Two of them, Healthie and ABC Trainerize, are not coaching-admin tools in the narrow sense, but health coaches use them because they handle food logging and habits well. We checked both pricing pages on October 25, 2026. Every other price comes from the vendor's pricing page as listed in October 2026, and feature notes marked as September 2026 come from our earlier vendor profiles. We did not test these products hands-on. Where we mention ratings, they are public Trustpilot scores as shown on the day we checked.
We left out tools that only cover one narrow job, such as a standalone calendar or email tool, because a health coach replacing Practice Better needs at least booking, payments and delivery in one place. Practice Better itself appears at number 8, because changing plan is a real option for some coaches.
1. Coachful: the whole health coaching journey behind one login
Coachful is the best fit for health coaches who sell programs, not just sessions, and want clients to keep showing up between calls. One membership covers your website, funnels, email, booking, payments, agreements, programs with habits and check-ins, courses, a community and a client app with your branding.

What Coachful is, in short. Coachful is a coaching platform for coaches who deliver multi-week programs, from solo health coaches to small teams replacing four to six separate tools. It is not a clinical system: it is not HIPAA-certified, offers no BAA, and is not for clinical records or insurance billing. To start, take a free trial and ask the team to build your site or first program for you through the free white-glove service.
Delivery built around habits. A health coaching program in Coachful runs on weekly goals, daily tasks, habits with streaks, and morning and evening check-ins. Goals carry progress bars, and each client's goal page pulls linked tasks and habits into one daily view. A 12-week blood sugar-friendly eating program, for example, could set one weekly focus (protein at breakfast, a 10-minute walk after dinner) and let the check-ins collect how it went. The client record then gathers goals, check-ins, habits, notes, intake answers, payments and sessions, and labels each client as thriving, active, quiet or at risk, so you can see who has gone silent before they cancel.

Nutrition and body tracking. Coachful's Fitness & Nutrition pack adds nutrition targets up to calories and macros, meal plans, recipes, food lookup with barcode scanning, private progress photos and measurements, and weekly check-ins. It also includes a workout builder with an illustrated exercise library. You attach your own demo videos, because there are no stock exercise videos. There is no Garmin, Fitbit, Whoop or Oura sync, and Apple Health sync is not publicly available. If wearable data drives your coaching, that is a real gap. See the Fitness & Nutrition pack for the full list.

Enrollment without extra tools. Booking pages handle availability rules, buffers, minimum notice and time zones, with two-way Google, Apple and Outlook sync and built-in video or automatic Zoom, Meet or Teams links. Intake questions sit on the booking form. Coaching agreements with e-signature go out before the first call, so your scope and referral language is signed before session one. Payments run through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account, with payment plans, subscriptions, coupons, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Coachful charges a 0% platform fee, so you pay only Stripe or Razorpay processing. PayPal is not supported.
Attract and retain. The website builder has 30 designed homepage templates, a blog and SEO settings. Funnels cover booking, applications, lead magnets and checkout, and email sequences support triggers, delays, branching and A/B splits. When a client enrolls in a group program, a cohort group is created automatically inside the community. Michelle, the built-in AI assistant, works from your live practice data: it briefs you before sessions, drafts emails and builds program outlines. Questions are included in your Coachful membership, and confirmed builds use AI credits.

This short walkthrough shows how morning and evening check-ins are set up and what clients see:
Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. From Create, choose "We'll build it for you" and describe what you need: a website, a funnel, a program, a course outline, an email sequence, a lead quiz or something else. You can attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files, such as your logo, photos and existing copy. The Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours, and leaves gaps for you to fill rather than inventing credentials, testimonials or prices. One recent build was for a menopause and midlife health coach starting from nothing: a five-page site in sage and cream, with every button leading to a 20-minute consultation. The service does not cover recording videos, logo design or running ads. Read more about the white-glove service.

Price and limits. Plans are flat and monthly. Lower plans cap the number of clients, Pro is unlimited, and monthly plans cancel in one click (current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients). The limits for health coaches are clear: no HIPAA, no clinical charting, no insurance billing, no PayPal, no wearable sync, and the client app is published under the Coachful listing with your branding, not under your own App Store account. For a coach-by-coach breakdown, see Practice Better vs Coachful and our health coach page.
2. Healthie: the clinical twin for dietitians who also coach
Healthie is the closest match to Practice Better and the right call if you chart, bill insurance or need HIPAA compliance. Its pricing page, checked October 25, 2026, lists four plans billed monthly: Core at $19.99/month for 10 active clients, Essentials at $49.99/month for 250 active clients, Plus at $129.99/month with unlimited clients, and Group from $149.99/month plus $50/month for each added clinician. Annual billing lowers these to $18, $45, $115 and $135 per month. You can trial the Plus plan for 14 days without a credit card.
For health coaches, the useful parts are food and lifestyle journaling, goals and metrics tracking, care plans, a secure messenger, a client portal and the Healthie mobile app. HIPAA and PCI compliance are listed on every plan. Payments run through an integrated Stripe account at 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction as listed, with no separate Stripe login. Fullscript is integrated for supplements and labs, which matters if you work alongside a practitioner who orders them.
The limits show up in the attract and retain stages. Automated online programs (fixed-start and rolling), group telehealth and webinars only start on Plus, so a coach running a group reset program is effectively looking at the $129.99 tier. The pricing page lists no website builder, sales funnels or email sequences, so you still need separate marketing tools. Some features are clinical overhead a non-licensed coach will never use, such as CMS 1500s, superbills, ePrescribing at $40 per clinician per month and a paid insurance claims integration. For a deeper clinical comparison, read Practice Better vs Healthie.
Pick it over Coachful if you are a registered dietitian, nurse or other licensed provider who needs HIPAA compliance, charting and insurance claims, and you are happy to run marketing elsewhere.
3. ABC Trainerize: habits and macros for coaches who also program movement
ABC Trainerize suits health coaches whose work leans toward movement and nutrition logging, and it is the only tool here that lists wearable integrations. Its pricing page, checked October 25, 2026, shows a free Basic plan for one client and Grow at $9/month for two client seats. Pro starts at $23/month for 5 client seats, with a seat selector that goes up to 200. Studio Plus starts at $248/month for 500 seats. The price per seat for Pro above 5 seats appears only when you pick a seat count, and we could not read it from the page text, so check it for your roster size. A trial is offered without a credit card.
Habit and lifestyle coaching is included even on the free plan. Grow adds custom client programs, client meal and macro tracking, and "integrations with client apps and wearables". Pro adds custom exercise videos, custom welcome emails, consultation forms and leaderboard challenges. For a health coach, that covers the deliver stage well: daily habits with streaks and badges, nutrition goals and compliance, and in-app messaging.
The gaps sit around enrollment and attract. Stripe integrated payments, video coaching, advanced nutrition coaching (the Smart Meal Planner) and the business tools for scheduling prospects and selling products are listed as paid add-ons on Grow and Pro. A custom branded app is also an add-on. The website is a Trainerize.me profile, not a full site with funnels. Health coaches without a training background may find the workout-first interface more than they need.
Pick it over Coachful if your clients' wearable data drives your coaching, or you program workouts for most clients and want a large on-demand library rather than recording your own demos.
4. Quenza: between-session activities without the business layer

Quenza is a client-engagement tool: worksheets, activities, guided programs, chat and a client app, used by coaches and therapists. As listed in October 2026, Spark costs $25/month ($20 annual) for 10 clients, Growth $50/month ($40 annual) for 250 clients, Impact $125/month for 400 clients, and Collective $160/month for up to three professionals and 500 clients. There is a 30-day trial without a card, and Trustpilot showed 4.3 from 8 reviews when we checked.
For a health coach, Quenza's strength is structured reflection. A meal-planning worksheet, a stress check-in or a sleep diary can be built as an activity and sent on a schedule, and clients complete it in the app. If you think of your program as a sequence of exercises, Quenza handles that cleanly.
The business layer is the problem. Quenza lists client payments, invoicing and digital products as planned, not live, so you cannot take money in it today. Our September 2026 profile also found no scheduling or video calls. A health coach would need a separate booking tool, a payment tool and a website, which pushes the total cost and the number of logins back up.
Pick it over Coachful if you already have booking, payments and a website you like, and you only want a dedicated tool for worksheets and guided activities.
5. CoachAccountable: detailed accountability, priced per client

CoachAccountable is a long-running coaching back office with action plans, metrics, worksheets, courses, invoicing and agreements. Pricing is per active client, as listed in October 2026: Starter $20/month for 2 clients, Level 1 $40 for 5, Level 2 $70 for 10, Level 3 $120 for 20, Level 4 $250 for 50 and Level 5 $400 for 100. The trial is 30 days, with no card and no limits. It showed 4.8 on Trustpilot from 47 reviews when we checked, the highest score among the coaching-admin tools here.
Metrics are why health coaches like it. You define what a client tracks (glasses of water, minutes walked, hours slept) and they log it throughout the program, so progress is visible at each session. Action plans break goals into dated steps, and worksheets can be sent between sessions.
The per-client model is the catch. A health coach running a 30-person group reset pays for 30 active clients, which lands on Level 4 at $250/month. Our September 2026 profile found no native mobile app, no website or landing pages and no marketing automation. It also noted that CoachAccountable says it is not HIPAA compliant, so it is not a clinical substitute for Practice Better either.
Pick it over Coachful if you coach a small one-to-one roster, value granular metric charts above everything else, and want the vendor with the strongest public review score in this group.
6. Delenta: client portals with courses on the top tier

Delenta covers CRM, scheduling, contracts, client portals and group coaching, with courses on its Premium plan. As listed in October 2026, Starter is $29/month ($19.08 annual) for 10 client portals, Pro $49/month ($39.08 annual) for 40 portals, and Premium $79/month ($58.25 annual) for unlimited portals. Teams and Enterprise are custom-priced. The pricing page conflicts on the trial, with a 14-day headline but 7 days in the FAQ. Trustpilot showed 4.1 from 5 reviews.
A health coach can run a one-to-one practice on Pro, with each client getting a portal for files, session notes and shared resources. Premium is the plan a group-program health coach would actually need, because the course creator and the mobile app are only on that tier.
Those caps define the fit. A coach with 41 clients jumps to Premium, and multi-coach work means a custom Teams quote. The packet gives no sign of habit tracking or daily check-ins of the kind health coaches use, so delivery would rely on portals and course content.
Pick it over Coachful if you mostly do one-to-one sessions with document sharing, and you want a low annual price for up to 40 clients.
7. Simply.Coach: built for corporate wellness programs

Simply.Coach makes most sense for health coaches inside corporate wellness work, where a sponsor pays and a program manager tracks progress. As listed in October 2026, solo plans are Starter $9/month (3 active coachees, 1 contract, 1 program), Essentials $29/month for 7 coachees, Growth $49/month for 30 coachees and Leap $69/month with no caps. Business plans are CoCreate at $79/month per active coach (10 clients each) and Surge at $159/month per active coach (25 clients, 2 program managers, 5 sponsors). The trial is 14 days without a card.
Contracts, programs, sessions, booking pages and a client portal cover the enroll and deliver stages for structured engagements. The sponsor and program-manager roles on Surge suit an employer wellness contract, where the employer wants reporting and the employee wants confidentiality.
Independent health coaches will hit the caps. Every solo tier below Leap limits clients, contracts and programs, so a coach with a few program variations (a 6-week reset, a 12-week program, a maintenance plan) quickly needs Growth or Leap. Automated invoices were marked "Coming Soon" on the solo pricing page, and there are no refunds for mid-period cancellations.
Pick it over Coachful if most of your work comes through employers or health plans that want sponsor seats and program-manager reporting.
8. Practice Better on a different plan: the stay-put option

Sometimes the right move is changing plans rather than leaving. As listed in October 2026, Practice Better offers Sprout free for 3 clients (aimed at students and new practitioners), Starter at $35/month ($25 annual) for 10 clients, Professional at $69/month ($59 annual) for 300 clients, Plus at $99/month ($89 annual) with unlimited clients, and Team at $155/month ($145 annual) for 2 practitioners. The Professional card's "Save $84/year" note implies about $62/month annually, while the table shows $59, so the page is inconsistent. Trials run 14 days, or 30 on Team. Trustpilot showed 3.8 from 87 reviews.
Health coaches often end up on Plus without planning to, because evergreen (self-paced) programs, portal branding, a personalized URL and 750 SMS a month only start there. Professional covers fixed-date programs, deposits and payment plans, which may be enough if you run cohorts on set dates. Add-ons push the bill up: an AI Charting Assistant from $10 to $40 per practitioner per month, a Connector Hub at $49/month, extra admins at $10/month and SMS at 5 cents per text. Our Practice Better pricing breakdown works through real totals.
What stays the same on any plan: our September 2026 profile found no website builder and no funnel pages, and there is one practitioner per account below Team. For a closer look at the product, see our Practice Better review and the guide to the Practice Better client portal.
Pick it over Coachful if you need charting, telehealth inside a clinical record, ePrescribing for a licensed colleague or a fax number, and you are fine running your marketing in other tools.
9. CoachVantage: unlimited clients for one coach

CoachVantage charges per coach rather than per client, so a growing health coach never hits a client cap. As listed in October 2026, Clarity costs $39/month ($35 annual) and Aha! $59/month ($53 annual), both with unlimited contacts and engagements. The trial is 14 days without a card, and the vendor states it takes no commission on your revenue, though Stripe and PayPal fees apply.
For enrollment it has a CRM, booking pages, e-signature contracts and invoices. Delivery runs through a client portal, group programs with cohorts and small courses. A health coach running a quarterly group reset could manage cohorts on Aha!, which lifts the caps on group programs, sales pages, booking pages and e-signatures.
Clarity is where it pinches. It allows only 2 group programs, 2 sales pages, 2 booking pages, 4 e-signatures a month, 2 contract templates and 2 courses. Four e-signatures a month is tight for a coach signing a new agreement with every client. Our September 2026 profile found no team features and noted reviewers calling the built-in video (CVMeet) weak, with many users still on Zoom. There is no habit tracker or daily check-in in the vendor's listed features.
Pick it over Coachful if you want a flat per-coach price with unlimited clients and mostly run one-to-one sessions on Zoom.
10. Paperbell: simple packages, plus PayPal

Paperbell is the simplest admin tool here: one plan at $97/month ($80.83 annual), with unlimited clients, sessions, files and packages, as listed in October 2026. Booking, packages, payments, contracts, a client portal and a simple website come in that one price. It states no extra transaction fees beyond Stripe or PayPal processing, and offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. Its help center (via our September 2026 profile) described a 7-day trial with the public site offline and client messages off. Trustpilot showed 3.5 from 14 reviews.
A health coach who sells a few packages, such as a 6-session habit reset and a monthly maintenance call, can be live quickly. Clients book, sign and pay in one flow. PayPal support is a real difference, because Coachful does not support PayPal.
Delivery is thin for health coaching. Our September 2026 profile found no courses, no community, and no goal or habit tracking, and no native mobile app. A health coach would need to add a habit or worksheet tool, which is why Paperbell plus Quenza appears in the stack recipes below. See Paperbell vs Practice Better for a direct comparison.
Pick it over Coachful if your clients need to pay by PayPal and you deliver mainly through live sessions rather than daily habits.
11. Satori: the student and pro bono route

Satori is worth a look for health coaches still in training. Its Scholar plan is free for people studying for a coaching certification, with unlimited pro bono clients, and you apply through a form. As listed in October 2026, Essentials is $33/month ($27.50 annual) for up to 10 active paying clients, Pro $49/month ($40.83 annual) and Leader $124/month ($103.33 annual). Our older profile put Pro at 50 active clients and Leader at 150. The trial runs 15 days with full access and no card, and Satori offers a refund if you ask within 30 days.
Scheduling, a client portal, packages and programs, invoices and contracts cover the enroll and deliver stages for one-to-one work. Only active clients count toward billing, which helps a coach whose clients come and go between programs.
Our September 2026 profile found no native mobile app, no native Zoom integration, and no landing pages, courses or community. Satori also leaves out habit tracking and daily check-ins from its listed features. A coach graduating to group programs would need to add several tools.
Pick it over Coachful if you are working toward your health coaching certification and want to log pro bono clients at no cost.
12. Coaches Console: a full business system at a premium entry price

Coaches Console bundles a CRM, calendar, website, client portal, email and invoicing, with courses on the higher plan. As listed in October 2026, the Core Console System costs $197/month ($166.42 annual) and the Total Console System $297/month ($249.75 annual) with unlimited products and courses. There is no free trial, billing details are required at signup, and a 30-day money-back guarantee applies instead.
Of the coaching-admin tools here, it is the only one other than Coachful that lists a website and email together with a client portal, so it touches all four stages. A health coach who wants one vendor for marketing and admin, and prefers a long-standing company, will find that here.
The entry price is the highest in this group, and client limits on Core are not specified on the pricing page. Reviewers in our September 2026 profile describe the interface as dated. Daily habits, check-ins and nutrition logging are not among its listed features, so the deliver stage relies on the portal and course content.
Pick it over Coachful if you want a long-established coach business system with a guarantee period, and a higher monthly bill is not your constraint.
What do these tools cost at 5, 15 and 40 health coaching clients?
At 5 clients the cheaper admin tools look attractive, but by 40 clients the per-client and per-tier models diverge sharply. These are list prices as shown in October 2026, billed monthly, before payment processing. They are examples for planning, not quotes.
| Tool | 5 clients | 15 clients | 40 clients | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients | Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients | Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients | Site, funnels, email, programs and app included |
| Healthie | $19.99 (Core) | $49.99 (Essentials) | $49.99 (Essentials) | Online programs need Plus at $129.99 |
| ABC Trainerize | $23 (Pro, 5 seats) | Not readable on the page | Not readable on the page | Payments and video are add-ons |
| Quenza | $25 (Spark) | $50 (Growth) | $50 (Growth) | No payments yet |
| CoachAccountable | $40 (Level 1) | $120 (Level 3) | $250 (Level 4) | Priced per active client |
| Delenta | $29 (Starter) | $49 (Pro) | $49 (Pro) | Courses and app need Premium at $79 |
| Simply.Coach | $29 (Essentials) | $49 (Growth) | $69 (Leap) | Contract and program caps below Leap |
| Practice Better | $35 (Starter) | $69 (Professional) | $69 (Professional) | Evergreen programs need Plus at $99 |
| CoachVantage | $39 (Clarity) | $39 (Clarity) | $39 (Clarity) | Group programs beyond 2 need Aha! at $59 |
| Paperbell | $97 | $97 | $97 | No habit tracking or community |
| Satori | $33 (Essentials) | $49 (Pro) | $49 (Pro) | Pro cap from our September 2026 profile |
| Coaches Console | $197 (Core) | $197 (Core) | $197 (Core) | No free trial |
The cheap entries hide two costs. First, most of them need a separate website, funnel and email tool, which this table does not include. Second, health coaches running group programs often have to move up a tier (Healthie Plus, Practice Better Plus, Delenta Premium) just to deliver self-paced or group content.
Should you run an all-in-one or an assembled stack?
An all-in-one stack is cheaper and simpler for most health coaches at 15 clients and beyond, while an assembled stack makes sense only if you need a clinical record or wearable data. Here are four realistic recipes at 15 clients, using list prices as shown in October 2026.
| Recipe | What it covers | Monthly cost at 15 clients | Still missing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful alone | Website, funnels, email, booking, payments, agreements, habits, check-ins, community, branded app | Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients | HIPAA, charting, PayPal, wearable sync |
| Practice Better Plus + separate site and email tools | Clinical records, telehealth, evergreen programs, branded portal | $99 plus the site and email tools | Funnels, community |
| Healthie Plus + separate site and email tools | HIPAA, charting, journaling, online programs, group telehealth | $129.99 plus the site and email tools | Funnels, community |
| Paperbell + Quenza Growth | Site, booking, payments, contracts, worksheets and activities | $147 ($97 + $50) | Habits with streaks, community, two logins |
The assembled recipes also cost time. Every extra tool is another place where a client's payment, intake answers and check-ins can fall out of sync, and another login to explain to clients during onboarding. If you are leaving Kajabi as well as Practice Better, our Kajabi alternatives for health coaches covers the course and website side.
How would a health coach set this up in Coachful, step by step?
A health coach can build the whole flow themselves or hand most of it to the white-glove team. Here is an illustrative setup for a coach selling a 12-week "Energy Reset" program focused on sleep, hydration, protein and daily movement.

- Request the build. Open Create and use the white-glove service: describe the program, attach your logo and two photos, and link two coach websites you like. Ask for a website and a booking funnel.
- Set the website. Start from a wellness homepage template, or review what the team built. Keep one primary button: "Book a complimentary 20-minute call".
- Build the booking page. Add availability, a 15-minute buffer and 24 hours' minimum notice. Add intake questions: current sleep hours, typical breakfast, main goal, and "Has a doctor advised you on diet or exercise?".
- Write the agreement. Include a scope line: coaching supports habit change and is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and you will refer to the client's physician, a registered dietitian or a mental health professional when needed. Set it to go out for e-signature before the first session.
- Create the offer. Connect your Stripe account, then add a one-time price and a three-payment plan. Add a coupon for past clients.
- Build the program. Twelve weeks, one weekly goal each (week 1: water before coffee; week 2: protein at breakfast), daily tasks, four habits with streaks, plus a morning check-in (energy 1 to 5) and an evening check-in (what went well).
- Add nutrition tools. If you use the Fitness & Nutrition pack, set protein targets rather than full macros for most clients, and share two simple meal plans.
- Open the cohort. Enrolling clients in the program creates their cohort group in the community automatically. Schedule a fortnightly group call.
- Automate follow-up. Add an email sequence for discovery-call no-shows and one for week 10 offering a maintenance plan.
- Watch status weekly. Each Monday, filter clients marked quiet or at risk and send a short personal message before the week's goal starts.
For more on structuring the program itself, see group coaching software and the coach website builder.
How do you migrate off Practice Better without losing client history?
Export first, cancel last, and overlap the two systems for at least one billing cycle. Practice Better's exports (per our September 2026 profile) work like this: a per-client archive of notes, invoices and forms is emailed and kept for 48 hours, the contact list exports as a spreadsheet, and a bulk export is available on request.
- Request the bulk export early. It is on request, so ask in week one, not on your last day.
- Download per-client archives immediately. The 48-hour window is short. Save each archive to a folder named by client.
- Keep records as your rules require. If you are a licensed provider, your record-retention obligations do not end when you change software. Whether HIPAA applies depends on whether you are a covered entity or business associate, which HHS explains here. Check with an attorney if you are unsure.
- Plan recurring payments. Ask both vendors whether saved cards can move between processors. If not, give subscription clients a clear date and link to re-enter payment details.
- Move programs by rebuilding them, not copying them. Coachful imports clients, programs and content for you during onboarding, which is a good time to cut lessons nobody completes.
- Tell clients once, clearly. One email with the new login, what moves, and what stays the same.
Our full migration checklist for leaving Practice Better walks through each step.
Which mistakes should health coaches avoid when switching?
The most expensive mistake is choosing on entry price alone. Cheaper tiers on Healthie, Practice Better and Delenta all leave out group or self-paced programs, which is how most health coaches grow.
- Paying for clinical features you never use. If you are not licensed and do not bill insurance, charting and ePrescribing add cost and complexity without helping your clients.
- Ignoring HIPAA when it does apply. The opposite mistake: if you work under a clinic or bill insurance, a non-HIPAA tool such as Coachful is not appropriate for that work.
- Skipping the scope line. Write your referral language into the agreement every client signs.
- Forgetting the attract stage. Leaving Practice Better is a good moment to fix the missing website and funnel, not just swap admin tools.
- Counting clients wrong. Per-client tools count active clients differently. Check whether alumni in a community count toward your cap.
What is the verdict on Practice Better alternatives for health coaches?
For most health coaches, Coachful is the strongest Practice Better alternative, because it covers attract, enroll, deliver and retain with one login and builds the setup for you at no cost. Healthie is the right choice for licensed providers who need HIPAA, charting and insurance. ABC Trainerize wins if wearable data or workout programming drives your coaching. Staying on Practice Better and changing plan makes sense if you have a clinical colleague who needs its records.
If your work is habit change rather than treatment, and you want your website, programs, check-ins and community in one place, start a free trial and ask the team to build your first program. Frequently asked questions
What is the best Practice Better alternative for health coaches?
Coachful is the best fit for most health coaches, because it combines a website, funnels, booking, payments, agreements, habit programs, check-ins and a community in one membership. If you need HIPAA compliance or insurance billing, Healthie is the closer match.
Is Coachful HIPAA compliant?
No. Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and does not sign a BAA, and it is not built for clinical records or insurance billing. Health coaches who coach rather than treat often do not need HIPAA, but check whether you are a covered entity or business associate under HHS guidance and ask an attorney if unsure.
What is Coachful's free white-glove service?
It is a build service on every plan: you describe a website, funnel, program, course outline, email sequence or similar, attach up to 8 links and 10 files, and the Coachful team builds it inside your account, usually within about 24 hours. It does not cover recording videos, logo design or ad management, and it never invents credentials, testimonials or prices.
Which Practice Better alternative is cheapest?
For a tiny roster, ABC Trainerize's free plan (1 client) and Simply.Coach Starter at $9/month (3 coachees) are the lowest list prices in October 2026. Both cap clients tightly, so compare the price at your real client count using the table above.
Do any of these tools sync with wearables?
ABC Trainerize lists integrations with client apps and wearables from its Grow plan. Coachful has no Garmin, Fitbit, Whoop or Oura sync, and Apple Health sync is not publicly available.
Can I keep using Practice Better if I'm a dietitian who also coaches?
Yes, and for clinical work you probably should keep a clinical system. Some practitioners run clinical clients in Practice Better or Healthie and coaching programs in a separate coaching platform, keeping the two kinds of record apart.
How do I get my client data out of Practice Better?
Per our September 2026 profile, per-client archives are emailed and kept for 48 hours, contacts export as a spreadsheet, and a bulk export is available on request. Request the bulk export early and download every archive as soon as it arrives.
Do health coaches need a signed coaching agreement?
It is strongly advisable. The agreement sets out fees, cancellation terms and, importantly, your scope: coaching is not diagnosis or treatment, and you will refer clients to medical or mental health professionals when needed. Requirements vary by location, so check with an attorney.
Which tool is best for group health coaching programs?
Coachful creates a cohort group automatically when clients enroll in a program, with community, group calls and shared habits. Among the others, CoachVantage Aha! and Delenta Premium support group programs, and Healthie and Practice Better put group or self-paced programs on their higher tiers.
Is there a free trial for Coachful?
Yes, Coachful offers a free trial, and the white-glove build service is free on every plan. There is no permanent free plan, and monthly plans cancel in one click.
