GoHighLevel vs HubSpot for Coaches: 2026 Comparison

GoHighLevel vs HubSpot for Coaches: 2026 Comparison

In the gohighlevel vs hubspot decision, most coaches should pick GoHighLevel if they want funnels, SMS, calendars and courses in one agency-style marketing account, and HubSpot if they want a clean, free CRM to track leads and deals with a small team. Neither one was built to deliver coaching itself: no habit tracking, no daily client check-ins, no structured multi-week program engine. That gap is why this comparison ends with a third option.

We make Coachful, a coaching platform, so we have a stake in this. We have kept the GoHighLevel and HubSpot facts to what each vendor documents on its own pricing and product pages, as listed in October 2026, and to what public reviewers report. Where Coachful does not do something, we say so.

What is the short answer, by use case?

The right tool depends on what your coaching business spends most of its time on: chasing leads, running marketing, or delivering client results. Here is the quick version before the detail.

  • You run paid ads and need SMS follow-up, funnels and pipelines: GoHighLevel fits better than HubSpot. Its Starter plan includes funnels, websites, calendars, email and SMS, courses and communities.
  • You want a free CRM to log contacts, calls and deals while you test an offer: HubSpot's free tools cover up to 2 users and 1,000 contacts with no time limit and no credit card.
  • You sell high-ticket B2B coaching through a sales team: HubSpot's deal pipelines, email tracking and reporting are its real strength.
  • You run an agency that also builds systems for other coaches: GoHighLevel's sub-accounts and SaaS Mode (Agency Pro) were designed for that.
  • You deliver programs, habits, check-ins and courses, and want clients in one branded app: neither fits well. That is where Coachful, the third option, wins.

If you came here because you already feel both are overkill, our guides on managing coaching leads without HubSpot and GoHighLevel alternatives for coaches go deeper.

How do GoHighLevel, HubSpot and Coachful compare side by side?

GoHighLevel is a marketing CRM built around sub-accounts, HubSpot is a general CRM and sales suite, and Coachful is a coaching platform that also handles marketing. The table puts them next to each other.

How we rank: one login for the whole client journey, delivery between sessions, total stack cost for a coach, and setup effort (including whether someone builds it for you).

A note on ratings, since buyers often ask: on Trustpilot, as listed in October 2026, GoHighLevel showed 4.9 from 15,250 reviews and HubSpot showed 1.5 from 1,176 reviews. Coachful showed 4.5 from 21 reviews. Review counts this different are not directly comparable, so read the recent reviews rather than the headline score.

What is GoHighLevel, and who is it really for?

GoHighLevel (also called HighLevel) is an agency-first, all-in-one marketing CRM: funnels, websites, calendars, SMS and email, invoicing, contracts, courses and communities, organized into sub-accounts. A solo coach uses one sub-account; an agency runs one per client.

GoHighLevel homepage presenting its all-in-one marketing CRM for agencies and businesses
GoHighLevel's homepage in October 2026.

Its pull for coaches is breadth. Starter includes all core features, and contacts and users are unlimited on every plan. You can build a lead magnet funnel, send text reminders, book calls and invoice in one account. The cost is complexity: public reviewers often describe a steep learning curve, and the platform's vocabulary (sub-accounts, snapshots, workflows) comes from agency work, not coaching.

What GoHighLevel does not do natively matters for coaches. There is no habit tracking, no client check-ins and no structured coaching program or task engine; you would have to simulate those with workflows and forms. There are no built-in video rooms, only Zoom and Google Meet links. SMS, email, phone and AI usage are metered on top of the plan price. Our full GoHighLevel review covers the rest.

What is HubSpot, and who is it really for?

HubSpot is a general-purpose CRM with marketing, sales and service tools layered on top. Its free CRM covers contacts, companies, deals, tasks, email tracking, forms, live chat and a meetings scheduler, and it is genuinely free with no expiration date.

HubSpot homepage presenting its customer platform for marketing, sales and service
HubSpot's homepage in October 2026.

HubSpot's strength is the CRM record and the sales pipeline. If a coach sells leadership programs to companies through discovery calls, proposals and follow-ups, HubSpot keeps every email, call and deal stage in one timeline. Starter removes HubSpot branding and adds simple automation, calling, AI meeting recording and transcription, and up to 15 pipelines.

HubSpot has no coaching programs, no habit tracking, no client check-ins and no course delivery. Its mobile app is for the business's own team, not for clients. Costs rise with seats and marketing contacts, and Professional and Enterprise require paid one-time onboarding. If HubSpot feels like a sales department in a box, our guides on coaching pipelines without HubSpot and HubSpot alternatives for coaches show lighter setups.

How does GoHighLevel pricing compare with HubSpot pricing?

GoHighLevel charges a flat account price from $97/month with metered usage on top; HubSpot starts free and charges per seat, with prices climbing sharply at Professional. The table shows the plans as listed in October 2026.

GoHighLevel's hidden costs: usage and add-ons

The plan price is not the whole bill. GoHighLevel meters SMS, email, phone numbers and AI, with per-unit rates on separate pricing guides rather than the main pricing page. The add-ons a coach is most likely to meet, as listed in October 2026:

  • Branded Client Portal App: $49/month per sub-account
  • AI Employee: $50/month (Growth) or $97/month (Unlimited) per sub-account
  • HIPAA compliance: $297/month (included only on Enterprise)
  • White-label mobile app: $497/month
  • WhatsApp: $10/month per sub-account
  • SEO (Search Atlas): $79/month per sub-account
  • Premium support: $500/month

A coach on Starter who adds the client portal app and the AI Employee Growth tier would pay about $196/month before any texts or emails are sent (example arithmetic: $97 + $49 + $50). Our GoHighLevel pricing breakdown goes plan by plan.

HubSpot's hidden costs: seats, contacts and the Professional jump

HubSpot's Starter price is a limited-time new-customer promotion: $7 per seat per month billed annually (65% off) or $10 billed monthly (50% off). The standard Starter price is $20 per seat per month, and the page does not say how long the discount lasts. Marketing contacts beyond the included tier are billed by tier, and AI features draw on HubSpot Credits sold at $10 per 1,000-credit pack.

HubSpot pricing page showing the free tools and paid tiers
HubSpot's pricing page in October 2026.

The bigger jump is Professional. The platform page lists $90 per seat per month billed annually, plus required onboarding whose amount is not shown there. Older hub pages still listed Marketing Hub Professional at $800/month with 3 seats plus a $3,000 one-time onboarding fee. HubSpot is moving to platform pricing, so treat Professional figures as uncertain and get a quote before you plan around them.

What a coach's real stack costs

Neither tool covers coaching delivery, so the fair comparison is the whole stack. Here is an illustrative example for a solo coach with 15 active clients who wants booking, payments, a course and client check-ins. These are example figures built from list prices in October 2026, not quotes.

StackWhat it coversExample monthly cost
CoachfulBooking, payments, contracts, programs, habits, check-ins, courses, community, website, emailSolo: $49/month for up to 20 clients
GoHighLevel Starter plus portal appCRM, funnels, booking, SMS, courses; no habits or check-ins$146 plus metered SMS and email
HubSpot Starter (1 seat, standard) plus Kajabi BasicCRM and booking in HubSpot; courses and community in Kajabi; no habits or check-ins$20 plus $179 = $199, plus payment fees in both

Which is better for booking and calendars?

GoHighLevel has the more complete booking tool for coaches; HubSpot's meetings scheduler is simpler and tied to the sales rep's calendar. Both work, but neither links a booked session to a coaching program.

GoHighLevel's calendars are part of every plan, with SMS and email reminders (texts are metered) and Zoom or Google Meet links. It has no native video room. HubSpot's free tier gives you one personal meetings link with HubSpot branding; Starter raises that to 1,000 personal and team links without branding. HubSpot's scheduler is built for sales calls, so features like session packages or credits are not part of it.

Coachful's booking pages include availability rules, buffers, minimum notice and time-zone detection, two-way Google, Apple/iCloud and Outlook sync, built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet or Teams links, paid sessions and session credits, and intake questions on booking. Email reminders are standard; SMS (24 hours before) and WhatsApp (1 hour before) reminders work once messaging is enabled.

Which handles payments, invoices and contracts better?

GoHighLevel covers more of a coach's money flow natively (invoices, contracts, payment links) with no HighLevel platform fee on sales; HubSpot adds platform fees on payments and puts quotes on Professional.

GoHighLevel connects to Stripe, PayPal and other processors listed on its pricing page, and charges only the provider's fees on sales. HubSpot offers two routes. HubSpot Payments (Starter and up, US, Canada and UK only) charges 2.9% per card payment, with a HubSpot platform fee that is free for one year and then 0.5% per transaction. Using Stripe inside HubSpot adds a 0.75% HubSpot platform fee on top of Stripe's 2.9% + $0.30. On $5,000 of monthly coaching sales through Stripe, that 0.75% is $37.50 a month (example arithmetic).

Coachful runs payments through the coach's own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account: one-time payments, subscriptions, payment plans, order bumps, coupons, refunds, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and Stripe Tax. There is a 0% Coachful platform fee (since August 2026), so only Stripe or Razorpay processing applies. Coaching agreements with e-signature go out before the first call and are stored on the client record. Coachful does not support PayPal. See coaching payment software and coaching contracts for the details.

Which is better for funnels, websites and email marketing?

GoHighLevel is the stronger funnel and website builder of the two; HubSpot is stronger at email segmentation and CRM-driven campaigns but caps landing pages at 30 on Free and Starter.

GoHighLevel was built for agencies running lead generation, so funnels, websites, forms, email and SMS sequences sit together in one workflow builder. That is real value if you run ads to a webinar or lead magnet. HubSpot's free and Starter tiers include forms, email marketing and up to 30 landing pages; Starter removes HubSpot branding. Email sends on Starter are 5 times the marketing-contact tier per month.

Coachful includes a section-based website builder with blog, custom domain and SEO settings, 30 designed homepage templates and an Import website option; booking, application, lead-magnet and checkout funnels with pixels and UTM tracking; and email lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences with triggers, delays, branching and A/B splits. It is built for coaching sites, not general websites, and it has no third-party plugins.

How do the CRMs and pipelines compare?

HubSpot has the deepest CRM and pipeline reporting; GoHighLevel's pipelines are good enough for most coaches; Coachful tracks leads and clients for coaching, not for multi-stage sales teams.

HubSpot's free CRM includes deal pipelines, email tracking and a reporting dashboard, and Starter allows up to 15 pipelines. For a coaching firm with several salespeople, that is hard to beat. GoHighLevel includes opportunities and pipelines on every plan, with unlimited contacts, which matters if your list is large. HubSpot's free tier stops at 1,000 contacts.

Coachful's client record holds goals, check-ins, habits, notes, intake answers, tags, payments, sessions and an AI briefing per client, with a status of thriving, active, quiet or at risk. Leads have their own list and board. Coachful does not have a multi-stage sales deal board for large teams and has no Salesforce or HubSpot integration. If you are weighing that trade, read managing a client CRM without HubSpot and our coaching CRM page.

What about AI features?

Both vendors sell AI, but in different shapes: GoHighLevel as a per-sub-account AI Employee add-on, HubSpot as Breeze tools paid with credits. Neither AI is trained on coaching delivery.

GoHighLevel's AI Employee costs $50/month (Growth) or $97/month (Unlimited) per sub-account, as listed in October 2026. HubSpot includes the Breeze AI assistant on Free, adds an AI agent builder and AI meeting recording on Starter, and sells extra HubSpot Credits.

Coachful's built-in assistant, Michelle, works from live practice data: it builds programs, drafts emails and content, summarizes recorded sessions, briefs you before sessions, and can give optional private feedback on your own coaching against ICF Core Competencies 3 to 8. Questions and planning are included in your Coachful membership; confirmed builds and changes use AI credits. Coachful also has an AI Coach, an AI version of the coach that selected clients can chat with between sessions, configured by the coach. More on our AI coaching assistant page.

What do your clients actually experience?

With HubSpot, clients experience emails and a booking link; with GoHighLevel, they can get a course portal and a branded app (an add-on); neither gives them daily habits or check-ins. This is the biggest difference for coaches whose results depend on what happens between sessions.

Client experienceWhere the client logs inBetween-session supportCourses and community
CoachfulOne branded home and app (coach's branding inside the Coachful app)Weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, streaks, AI CoachCourses with drip and completion tracking; community feed, group chat, cohort groups
GoHighLevelCourse and community portal; Branded Client Portal App at $49/month per sub-accountNot native; built with forms and workflowsCourses and communities included
HubSpotNo client portal for coaching; emails, forms and meeting linksNoneNone

Think about a typical week in a 12-week program. In Coachful, a client opens the app in the morning, answers a check-in, ticks off two habits, watches this week's lesson and sees their next session. You see who is quiet or at risk on your dashboard. In GoHighLevel, you could send daily texts with a form link and tag responses, but you would build and maintain that logic yourself. In HubSpot, you would be sending emails and reading replies.

Here is a short walkthrough of how programs work inside Coachful:

Which is easier to set up and learn?

HubSpot's free CRM is easier to start with; GoHighLevel takes longer to learn but does more once configured. Both are self-serve on their entry plans.

HubSpot's interface is polished and its free tier asks for no credit card, so you can import contacts and send your first tracked email in an afternoon. Complexity arrives with Professional, where onboarding is mandatory and paid. GoHighLevel offers a 14-day trial on any plan, and billing starts automatically at the end of the trial unless you cancel. Usage-based telecom and third-party fees can apply during the trial. Public reviewers frequently mention the time needed to build funnels and workflows from scratch, which is why many coaches buy pre-built snapshots or hire a GoHighLevel specialist.

Coachful's answer to setup is different: clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding, and the white-glove build service sets up a website, funnel, program or email sequence inside your account. More on that below.

How easy is it to leave each platform?

HubSpot exports records cleanly; GoHighLevel exports contacts but keeps funnels, sites and workflows inside its own snapshot format. Plan your exit before you build.

HubSpot lets you export contacts, companies, deals and other records as CSV, XLS or XLSX, with download links that expire after 30 days and up to 300 exports per rolling 24 hours. GoHighLevel exports contacts with custom fields, opportunities and conversations to CSV, but funnels, sites and workflows are portable only as snapshots inside HighLevel, and data becomes inaccessible after cancellation. If you are already on it, our guide on migrating from GoHighLevel walks through the order of operations.

Coachful exports full client data as a ZIP (roster, notes, check-ins, goals, habits, sessions, form responses) and exports courses. Monthly plans cancel in one click.

Is there a third option that beats both GoHighLevel and HubSpot?

For coaches who deliver programs, yes: Coachful replaces most of what GoHighLevel and HubSpot do for a coach, and adds the client delivery both lack. For agencies and multi-person sales teams, no, and we explain why below.

Coachful's coach dashboard on a laptop next to a client's habit tracker on a phone

What Coachful is. Coachful is a coaching platform. One subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant, with one login for the coach and one branded app for the client. It is built for coaches who deliver programs rather than only sessions, solo coaches growing into a small team, and coaches replacing 4 to 6 tools. The company is based in Tallinn, Estonia.

When Coachful beats both

  • Your results depend on what happens between sessions. Multi-week programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks are included in your Coachful membership. Neither GoHighLevel nor HubSpot has them natively.
  • You want one login for the whole journey. Lead, booking, agreement, payment, program, course and community all sit on the same client record.
  • You want a predictable bill. Flat monthly plans, with team seats added only on team plans and a 0% Coachful platform fee on payments.
  • You run group programs. Cohort groups are created automatically on program enrollment, with group calls, webinars and a community feed. See group coaching software.
  • You are pursuing an ICF credential. Coachful counts coaching hours and distinct clients against ACC, PCC and MCC thresholds and exports an ICF client coaching log with paid and pro bono hours.
  • You coach fitness or nutrition. The Fitness & Nutrition pack adds a workout builder with illustrated exercises, workout logging with PRs, macros, meal plans and barcode scanning. Coaches attach their own demo videos.

When Coachful does not beat them

  • You need a multi-stage sales deal board for a large team, or a Salesforce or HubSpot integration. Pick HubSpot.
  • You run an agency reselling software to clients. Pick GoHighLevel Agency Pro.
  • You need PayPal checkout. Coachful does not support PayPal; GoHighLevel does.
  • You need HIPAA compliance or insurance billing. Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and offers no BAA. Clinical records belong in a clinical system.
  • You need your own App Store listing. Coachful's client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding.
  • You need routing forms that pick a host from form answers, or Garmin, Fitbit, Whoop or Oura sync. Coachful has neither.
  • You need SMS-heavy marketing automation. Coachful sends SMS and WhatsApp session reminders once messaging is enabled, but GoHighLevel is the stronger SMS marketing tool.

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. Frequently asked questions

Is GoHighLevel or HubSpot better for a solo coach?

For a solo coach focused on marketing, GoHighLevel usually fits better because funnels, SMS, calendars and courses come in one account from $97/month. For a solo coach who only needs to log leads, HubSpot's free CRM costs nothing. If you also deliver programs, a coaching platform like Coachful covers both sides with one login.

Is HubSpot really free?

HubSpot's free tools have no time limit and need no credit card, for up to 2 users and 1,000 contacts. The free tier includes HubSpot branding on emails, landing pages and the meetings link, and only 1 automated email action. Branding removal and more automation start on Starter.

How much does GoHighLevel really cost per month?

Plans are $97, $297 and $497 per month (or $970, $2,970 and $4,970 per year), as listed in October 2026. SMS, email, phone and AI usage are metered on top, and add-ons such as the Branded Client Portal App ($49/month per sub-account) raise the total. See our GoHighLevel pricing guide.

How long does HubSpot's Starter discount last?

HubSpot's pricing page calls the $7 (annual) and $10 (monthly) per-seat Starter pricing a limited-time offer for new customers and does not say how long it lasts. The standard Starter price is $20 per seat per month. Budget for the standard price.

Can GoHighLevel or HubSpot track client habits and check-ins?

Neither does so natively. In GoHighLevel you could approximate it with forms, tags and workflows; HubSpot has no client-facing delivery tools. Coachful includes habits, morning and evening check-ins, streaks and progress bars in your Coachful membership.

Does HubSpot integrate with Coachful?

No. Coachful has no HubSpot or Salesforce integration. It connects with Zapier, Stripe, Razorpay, Google, Apple and Outlook calendars, Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Meta Pixel and GA4.

Which is HIPAA compliant?

GoHighLevel sells HIPAA compliance as a $297/month add-on, included on Enterprise. Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and does not sign a BAA. Coaching is not medical treatment; if you keep clinical records or bill insurance, use a clinical system built for that and refer clients to a licensed provider when their needs go beyond coaching.

What is Coachful's free white-glove service?

It is a build service included on every Coachful plan. You describe a website, funnel, program, email sequence or other asset, attach up to 8 links and 10 files, and the Coachful team builds it inside your account, usually within about 24 hours. It does not include video recording, logo design, ads or ongoing marketing.

Can I move from GoHighLevel to Coachful without losing clients?

Yes, if you plan it. Export contacts and conversations to CSV from GoHighLevel before you cancel, since data becomes inaccessible afterwards. Coachful imports clients, programs and content for you during onboarding, and the white-glove service can rebuild your site and funnels. Our migration guide lists the steps.

Is Coachful a CRM like HubSpot?

Coachful includes a coaching CRM: leads, client records, tags, notes, payments, sessions and an AI briefing per client. It is not a sales CRM for large teams and has no multi-stage deal board. If your business runs on a sales team, HubSpot is the better fit.
