Later Review 2026: Pricing, Limits and Verdict for Coaches

The short answer: this Later review comes down to one line. Later is a capable visual social media scheduler with a useful link in bio page, and it is a good fit for a coach whose only problem is posting consistently. It is not coaching software: it has no booking, client records, payments, programs or courses, so every client who finds you through a post has to leave it for something else.
- Who it suits: coaches who already run booking, payments and delivery elsewhere, and who plan around Instagram, TikTok or Pinterest.
- Who should skip it: coaches who want the post, the booking, the payment and the program in one place, and anyone who needs automated DM replies, which Later does not document.
- Public rating: 1.4 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 352 reviews, as seen in October 2026. The complaints are mostly about billing and support rather than the scheduler itself, and we cover them below.
- Price, as listed in October 2026: a limited free plan, then Starter at $25 a month or $18.75 a month billed yearly, up to Scale at $110 or $82.50.
We make Coachful, a coaching platform that includes a social planner, so we are not neutral here. Everything about Later in this article comes from its own pricing page and help center, or from what public reviewers report. We have not run a hands-on test, and we say so wherever a term is not published.

What is Later, and what does it actually do?
Later is a social media scheduler built around a visual Instagram grid planner. You drop posts on a calendar, preview how they will look on your profile, and it publishes them to Instagram, Facebook Pages, Threads, Pinterest, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube (Shorts only) and Snapchat.
Around that core sit a Link in Bio page, AI caption help, analytics, social listening on higher plans, and a Social Inbox for messages and comments on Growth and above. Later also runs a creator side: the free plan documents applying to brand campaigns, and Starter includes a media kit. That tells you who the product is mainly designed around, which is creators and social teams rather than service businesses.
Two network gaps matter if your clients live there. Later ended support for X on 28 August 2025, and it does not support Bluesky or Google Business Profile. A local coach who relies on a Google listing, or a business coach who writes on X, will need another route for those channels.
The scope is the point to keep in mind. Later's own plan reference covers publishing, analytics, listening, Link in Bio and creator campaigns. It does not process payments for your services, and it has no booking calendar or client records. That is not a flaw in a scheduler. It only becomes one if you were hoping a single subscription would run your practice.
What does Later do for each job in a coaching practice?
Later is strong on the first job, partial on the second and absent on the rest. Coaches usually judge software by five jobs: getting noticed, selling, delivering the work, the client's experience between sessions, and admin. Here is how it holds up against each, with Coachful alongside for reference.
| Tool | Marketing | Selling | Delivery | Client experience | Admin |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Social planner for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads and YouTube; Instagram automations; website, funnels, email sequences | Booking and checkout funnels, offers, order bumps, coupons, payment plans through your own Stripe or Razorpay | Multi-week programs, habits, check-ins, courses, group calls | One branded client home and app, community, direct messages | Client records, agreements with e-signature, invoices, ICF hour tracking |
| Later | Strong: visual planner, eight networks, AI captions, analytics, listening | Link in Bio only, with email capture to Mailchimp or CSV; no checkout | Not included | Not included | Team approvals and analytics for social only; no client records or invoices |
Marketing: where Later earns its fee
This is the part of Later that public fans point to, and the documented feature set backs it up. The visual planner lets you arrange a feed before anything goes live, auto publishing on paid plans covers Instagram carousels, Stories and a first comment, and best time to post suggestions come with Starter. For a coach who plans content in monthly batches, that workflow is hard to argue with.
Analytics scale with the plan. Starter keeps three months of history across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, Threads and LinkedIn. Growth extends that to a year and adds hashtag analytics and a shareable performance report. Scale keeps two years and adds Custom Analytics with scheduled email reports, plus benchmarking of up to 20 competitors on Instagram only. Most solo coaches will never need the Scale tier, but the Starter window is short if you want to compare this January with last January.
The AI side is modest on lower plans. Starter includes the AI Caption Writer and Ideas, in English only, with 5 AI credits a month. Growth gives 50 credits and Scale gives 100. If AI drafting is part of why you are buying, 5 credits will not go far.
Selling: a link page, not a sales system
Later's selling tool is its Link in Bio page. It comes on every plan, one per Social Set, and it can collect email sign-ups to Mailchimp or a CSV. Paid plans remove the Later banner and add custom SEO and UTM values, which helps you see which posts drive clicks.
The page can point to your booking tool and your checkout, but it cannot be either of them. Later does not take payments for your offers, and there is no calendar for a discovery call. So a typical setup is a post, then a Later link page, then a separate scheduler such as those in our Calendly review, then a payment tool. If you want a storefront in the bio link instead, our Stan Store review covers that approach.
Instagram is where many coaches now sell through conversation, and here Later has a real gap. Its Social Inbox, on Growth and above, lets you read and answer Instagram and Facebook DMs plus Instagram, Facebook and TikTok comments, but it is listed as beta and desktop only. No automated DM or comment-reply features are documented, so "comment GUIDE and I will send it" stays a manual job, or goes to a tool like the one in our ManyChat review.
Delivery: not in scope
Later has no programs, courses, habits, check-ins or session tools, and it does not claim to. Whatever you sell through your posts has to be delivered in other software. Practically, that means your Later subscription never touches your paying clients, so its value should be judged purely as a marketing cost.
Client experience: not in scope
Your clients will never log in to Later or see it, apart from the link page. There is no client portal, app or community. External review links on Growth are for approving content with a collaborator, not for working with coaching clients.
Admin: useful for social teams, silent on the practice
On the admin side, Later handles social work well. Growth adds approval workflows, a shared calendar and unlimited Access Groups, which suits a coach working with a virtual assistant or a content freelancer. It does nothing for contracts, invoices, session notes or credential hours.
Exports are limited too. Analytics can go to CSV for Instagram, Facebook and Threads on Starter and up, and LinkedIn on Growth and up, though graphs cannot be exported. Link in Bio sign-ups can be collected to CSV. No bulk export of scheduled or published posts is documented, so keep your best captions somewhere you own.
How much does Later cost in October 2026?
As listed in October 2026, Later's paid plans run from $25 to $110 a month on monthly billing, or $18.75 to $82.50 a month billed yearly. A free plan exists, though it is documented in the help center and not shown on the pricing page. Prices are in USD, and taxes are extra.

| Plan | Monthly billing | Yearly billing, per month | Main limits | Worth noting |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients | See the plans page | Lower plans cap the number of clients; Pro is unlimited | Covers booking, payments, programs, courses, community, website, email and the social planner on one subscription |
| Later Free | $0 | $0 | 1 user, 1 Social Set, 12 posts per profile a month, 1 YouTube Short a month, 2-week calendar view | No AI credits, no platform analytics, no Instagram carousels or Stories scheduling |
| Later Starter | $25 | $18.75 | 1 user, 1 Social Set (up to 8 profiles), 30 posts per profile a month, 5 AI credits | No Social Inbox; no extra users or Social Sets can be added |
| Later Growth | $50 | $37.50 | 2 users, 2 Social Sets (16 profiles), 180 posts per profile a month, 50 AI credits | Adds Social Inbox, approvals, listening and a year of analytics |
| Later Scale | $110 | $82.50 | 4 users, 6 Social Sets (48 profiles), unlimited posts, 100 AI credits | Adds Custom Analytics, competitor benchmarking and priority support |
Larger packaged Scale plans also exist, such as Scale 15 at $200 a month with 15 Social Sets and 10 users, and Scale 30 at $400. These do not appear on the main pricing cards. Non-profits can get 50% off annual Growth.
What do Later's add-ons cost?
Extra users and Social Sets can only be added on Growth and Scale, so a solo coach on Starter who hires an assistant has to upgrade rather than add a seat.
| Later add-on | Monthly billing | Yearly billing, per month | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Extra Social Set | $15 each | $11.25 each | Growth and Scale |
| Extra user | $5 each | $3.75 each | Growth and Scale |
| Extra 100 AI credits | $5 | $3.75 | Sources conflict: the pricing page rules out Starter, while the help center lists all current paid plans |
What does Later cost over a full year?
Here is the arithmetic, calculated from the listed prices, since the page shows no yearly total. Starter costs $225 billed yearly against $300 paid monthly. Growth costs $450 against $600. Scale costs $990 against $1,320.
The pricing page labels the yearly deal "3 months free" and 25% off, while the help center says an annual plan gets 4 months free. The numbers on the pricing page work out to 25%, or three months, so treat that as the live offer and confirm at checkout.
The post caps are worth translating into a real week. As an example, a coach posting once a day to Instagram would use about 30 posts a month on that profile, which sits right at Starter's cap of 30. The free plan's 12 posts per profile works out to about three a week. Growth's 180 is far more than a solo coach is likely to use, so the real reasons to pick Growth are the Social Inbox and the second seat.
How does the trial work?
Later offers a 14-day free trial of any paid plan, limited to one per account. A credit card is required at signup, and the paid subscription starts automatically unless you cancel before day 14. Given what reviewers report below, set a reminder for day 12 when you sign up, and another a few weeks before any annual renewal.
The plan pages we reviewed do not set out refund terms. Read the current terms before you pay for a year.
What do public reviewers praise and complain about?
On Trustpilot, Later showed 1.4 out of 5 from 352 reviews in October 2026, with 32 of those posted in the previous 12 months. Praise centers on ease of use and reliability. Complaints center on billing, refunds and support, with fewer about the product itself.
Read that score with some care. The star breakdown Trustpilot showed was split, with 48% five-star and 40% one-star reviews, yet the score is low. Trustpilot's score gives more weight to recent reviews, and it noted that Later has not recently invited customers to review, so unhappy customers may be over-represented in the recent sample. Thirty-two reviews in a year is also a small slice of Later's users. Still, the pattern is consistent enough to plan around.
What reviewers like
Happy reviewers tend to say the tool is reliable and easy to use. One short example, from a 5-star review dated May 10, 2026:
I really love later!
Some negative stories also end well. A 4-star review from July 16, 2026 describes a charge that Later reversed:
When I contacted them about it they said they understood and refunded the full amount.
Trustpilot also shows that Later replied to 60% of negative reviews, typically within a week, often by moving the case to email or private messages.
What reviewers complain about
- Charges and refused refunds. The most common theme. Several 1-star reviews from June, August and October 2026 say they were charged after cancelling or after a trial and that Later declined a refund.
- No renewal warning. Reviewers in June 2026 report an annual or automatic renewal charge with no reminder beforehand.
- Cancellation friction. A May 2026 review says cancellation was only possible on desktop.
- Support. Reviews from February and August 2026 describe slow replies or being stuck with automated chatbots.
- Product problems. A smaller group of 2026 reviews cites Instagram connection failures, slow video uploads and features that feel dated.
- Account actions. An October 2026 review describes a deactivated account with unpaid earnings withheld, which appears to relate to the creator side rather than scheduling.
These are individual accounts we have not verified, and a review site attracts people with a grievance. The practical takeaway is simple: if you buy, treat the renewal date as your job to track, and start on monthly billing until you know you will keep it.
What are Later's pros and cons for coaches?
Later's strengths are all on the content side, and its weaknesses are mostly about everything that happens after the click. This table sums up what the documentation and public reviewers show.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Visual Instagram grid planner that shows a feed before it goes live | No booking, client records, payments, programs or courses |
| Eight networks, including TikTok, Pinterest and Snapchat | No X, Bluesky or Google Business Profile; YouTube is Shorts only |
| Link in Bio page on every plan, with email capture to Mailchimp or CSV | Link page cannot take bookings or payments |
| A free plan for light posting, documented in the help center | Free plan has no analytics, no AI credits, no carousels or Stories scheduling, and a 2-week calendar view |
| Approval workflows and external review links for working with an assistant (Growth and up) | Starter cannot add users or Social Sets, so a first hire forces an upgrade |
| Social Inbox for DMs and comments (Growth and up) | Inbox is beta and desktop only; no automated DM or comment replies documented |
| 25% off on yearly billing | Card required for the trial, automatic start at day 14, and public complaints about renewals and refunds |
What happens after someone clicks your Later link?
They leave Later. That single fact is where coaches tend to outgrow it, because the post is only the first step in a chain that ends with a client doing the work. Here is the journey a coach has to build around Later, step by step.
- The post. Later schedules and publishes it. This step works.
- The click. The Link in Bio page shows your links and can collect an email address.
- The sign-up. That email goes to Mailchimp or a CSV, so a separate email tool has to send the follow-up.
- The discovery call. A separate scheduling tool takes the booking, with its own intake questions.
- The agreement and payment. A contract tool and a payment tool handle these, often with their own logins and emails.
- The program. A course or client portal delivers the work, and a chat app handles the questions in between.
None of those tools is bad on its own. The cost is in the seams: a lead's record lives in four places, and nobody can see that the person who commented on Tuesday is the one who went quiet in week three. Before renewing a scheduler, add up what you pay for the rest of that list. Our coaching software guide shows what the combined version covers.

Who is Later best for?
Later is best for a coach who treats social content as a craft and already has the rest of the practice sorted. It fits these people well:
- The Instagram-first coach. If your feed is your shop window and the grid's look matters to your brand, the visual planner is the reason to buy.
- The coach with Pinterest or TikTok reach. Later publishes to both, and that matters if those networks bring your clients.
- The coach with a content assistant. Growth's approvals and shared calendar make handoffs tidy.
- The coach with an established stack. If booking, payments and delivery already work and you are happy with them, adding a scheduler is a simple purchase.
- The light poster. Up to 12 posts per profile a month on the free plan may be plenty to get started, as long as you can live without analytics.
It is a weaker fit for these:
- New coaches with no systems yet. Posting more does not help when there is nowhere to book or pay. Our page for new coaches covers the order we would set things up in.
- Coaches who sell in the DMs. Without documented automation, every keyword reply is manual, and the inbox needs Growth.
- Coaches who write on X. Support for it has ended.
- Program-based coaches. If most of your value sits between sessions, a scheduler is the least important piece of your software.
What are the best Later alternatives for coaches?
Coachful is the best alternative if you want posting and the rest of your practice in one login. If you only want a different scheduler, Buffer, Planoly, Metricool and Hootsuite each solve a different problem. Our full list of 12 Later alternatives for coaches goes wider.
Ranked on one login for the whole client journey, between-session delivery, total stack cost, and setup effort with the free white-glove build:
| Tool | Best for | Entry paid price (as listed October 2026) | Sells your services directly? | Trustpilot (October 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Running the whole practice, with posting included | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients | Yes: booking, checkout, programs and courses | 4.5 from 21 reviews |
| Buffer | Simple, per-channel scheduling on many networks | $6 per channel a month, or $5 billed yearly | No | 4.2 from 146 reviews |
| Planoly | A visual planner plus a bio-link store | $16 a month, or $14 billed yearly | Yes, through Creator Store | 3.2 from 61 reviews |
| Metricool | Analytics and comment-to-DM flows | $25 a month, or $20 billed yearly | No | 4.1 from 690 reviews |
| Hootsuite | Larger teams with a shared inbox | $149 per user a month, or $99 billed yearly | No | 1.3 from 556 reviews |
1. Coachful
Coachful is a coaching platform: one subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant, with one login for you and one branded app for your client. It is built for coaches who deliver programs and not just sessions, solo coaches growing into a small team, and coaches replacing four to six tools. Current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients.

On the content side, the social planner sits under Sell, and offers AI help with post ideas and captions. You then schedule and publish to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads and YouTube from one calendar. Each network publishes separately, with a per-network retry and a notification if one fails.
Where it goes further than Later is the part after the post. Instagram automations can fire on a DM, a comment (optionally only with chosen keywords), a story reply, a mention, or a new follower where Meta supports it. A typical use is comment a keyword, get the booking link, lead magnet or checkout in a DM, and the person lands in the same lead and client records. An AI-written reply uses 1 AI credit.

Be clear about what you give up. Coachful does not publish to TikTok, Pinterest or Snapchat, and it has no social analytics dashboard or unified social inbox. Later's visual grid preview is its signature, while Coachful's planner is a calendar. If your social plan depends on those things, Later stays the better scheduler. You could also run Later alongside Coachful just for content.
The booking side covers availability rules, buffers, time-zone detection and two-way Google, Apple and Outlook calendar sync, with built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet and Teams links. There is more detail on our scheduling software page.

Payments run through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account, with one-time charges, subscriptions, payment plans, order bumps, coupons and refunds, an invoice per transaction and a 0% Coachful platform fee since August 2026, so you pay only Stripe or Razorpay processing. See coaching payment software and coaching contracts for how agreements are signed before the first call.

Delivery is where the difference from any scheduler is largest. You can build multi-week programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins and streaks, and clients see them inside their branded home and app. This short walkthrough shows how programs are put together.

Every client has one record: goals, check-ins, habits, notes, intake answers, tags, payments, sessions and an AI briefing, with a status of thriving, active, quiet or at risk. That is the view that closes the seam we described above. More on our coaching CRM page.

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. From Create, you describe what you want built, such as a website, funnel, sales page, program, email sequence or link in bio, and attach up to 8 reference links and 10 files. The Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. Nothing is invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. In one recent build, a leadership coach with a Squarespace renewal days away got one clean homepage with a repeated "talk with me" button. Read more about the white-glove service.

What Coachful does not do: it is not HIPAA-certified and has no BAA, so it is not for clinical record-keeping or insurance billing. It has no PayPal, no permanent free plan, and no Salesforce or HubSpot integration. The client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding, not under your own App Store account. To start, use a free trial and request a white-glove build for the first thing you want live.
2. Buffer
Buffer is the simplest switch if you just want a scheduler you can pay for by the channel. It charges per connected channel, so a coach on Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook pays $18 a month, or $15 billed yearly, on Essentials as listed in October 2026. It also publishes to X, Google Business Profile and Bluesky, all of which Later lacks. The free plan covers up to 3 channels with 10 queued posts each. See Buffer vs Later for the detail.

Pick it over Coachful if you already have your booking, payments and delivery in place and only need a clean, cheap queue across many networks.
3. Planoly
Planoly is the closest like-for-like with Later's visual approach, plus something Later lacks. Every paid plan includes Creator Store, a link-in-bio storefront for digital downloads, e-courses, memberships, live events and paid 1:1 consultations, with no Planoly cut of sales, though Stripe or PayPal processing still applies. Starter was listed at $16 a month, or $14 billed yearly, in October 2026. X is reminder-only, and Bluesky and Google Business Profile are not supported. More in Planoly vs Later.

Pick it over Coachful if your business is mostly selling digital products and single consultations from Instagram, and you do not run multi-week programs with check-ins.
4. Metricool
Metricool suits the coach who cares about numbers and DM flows. Its Flows feature automates Instagram comment-to-DM and keyword replies on paid plans, which Later does not document, and Starter offers unlimited analytics history. Starter was listed at $25 a month, or $20 billed yearly, for up to 5 brands in October 2026. The free forever plan excludes LinkedIn and X, and X needs a $10 a month add-on. Compare them in Metricool vs Later.

Pick it over Coachful if you want long-range social analytics, or manage several brands, and your practice runs fine elsewhere.
5. Hootsuite
Hootsuite is built for bigger teams and is priced for them. Standard was listed at $149 per user a month, or $99 billed yearly, in October 2026, with up to 10 social accounts. Every plan includes a unified inbox and Hootbio, and DM automations start on Professional at $199 per user a month billed yearly. Its Trustpilot score was 1.3 from 556 reviews in October 2026, even lower than Later's. See Hootsuite vs Later.

Pick it over Coachful if you run a marketing team that shares a social inbox across many accounts and has the budget for per-seat software.

How do you move away from Later without losing anything?
Save your data first, then turn off the renewal, since Later documents no bulk export of posts. A sensible order looks like this:
- Note your renewal date and whether you are on monthly or yearly billing.
- Export analytics to CSV for Instagram, Facebook and Threads, plus LinkedIn if you are on Growth or above. Graphs cannot be exported, so screenshot any you want to keep.
- Download your Link in Bio email sign-ups as a CSV, or confirm they are safe in Mailchimp.
- Copy upcoming captions and media into your new tool or a document you own.
- Rebuild your bio link page in the new tool, then update the link on every social profile.
- Cancel, ideally on desktop since one reviewer reported that as the only route, and keep the confirmation.
If you are moving to Coachful, clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding, and you can use the white-glove service to get your website or first funnel built. If you ever leave, there is a full client export as a ZIP, including roster, notes, check-ins, goals, habits, sessions and form responses.

Is Later worth it for coaches? Our verdict
Later is worth it if you need a visual social scheduler and nothing else. Its planner is its real strength, Pinterest, TikTok and Snapchat coverage is a real plus, and the free plan is a low-risk way to try the workflow if you can accept its limits.
It is not worth it as the center of a coaching business, because it stops at the click. For a coach running programs, the question is less "which scheduler?" and more "how many tools do I want between a post and a paying client?" We think most coaches who deliver programs are better served by Coachful, which we make, with posting in the same login as booking, payment and delivery. If you stay with Later, start monthly, track your renewal date yourself and keep your captions somewhere you own.
Frequently asked questions about Later
Is Later good for coaches?
Later is good for the content part of a coach's work, especially visual Instagram planning and scheduling across eight networks. It does not cover booking, client records, payments, programs or courses, so you need other tools for those. It suits coaches with an existing stack better than coaches starting from scratch.
Is Later free?
Yes, there is a free plan, documented in Later's help center but not shown on its pricing page as of October 2026. It allows 12 posts per profile a month, one Social Set and a Link in Bio page. It has no platform analytics, no AI credits and no Instagram carousels or Stories scheduling.
How much does Later cost per month?
As listed in October 2026, Starter is $25 a month or $18.75 billed yearly, Growth is $50 or $37.50, and Scale is $110 or $82.50. Taxes are extra. Larger packaged Scale plans also exist, such as Scale 15 at $200 a month.
Does Later's trial charge you automatically?
Yes, according to its trial documentation. A credit card is required at signup and the paid subscription starts automatically unless you cancel before day 14. Each account gets one trial, so set a reminder before the trial ends.
Why does Later have such a low Trustpilot score?
Later showed 1.4 from 352 reviews in October 2026. Recent complaints focus on charges after cancellation or renewal, refused refunds and slow support, more than on scheduling itself. The sample is small, with 32 reviews in the prior 12 months, and these accounts are not independently verified.
Does Later support X (Twitter)?
No. Later ended support for X on 28 August 2025. It also does not support Bluesky or Google Business Profile, and its YouTube publishing is Shorts only.
Can Later automate Instagram DMs?
No automated DM or comment-reply features are documented. The Social Inbox, on Growth and above, lets you answer Instagram and Facebook DMs and comments by hand, and it is listed as beta and desktop only. Metricool, Hootsuite's higher plans, and Coachful's Instagram automations all document some form of DM automation.
Can I take payments or bookings through Later?
No. Later does not process payments for your services and has no booking calendar. Its Link in Bio page can point to other tools and collect email sign-ups to Mailchimp or a CSV.
Does Coachful replace Later?
For many coaches, yes, since its social planner publishes to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads and YouTube alongside booking, payments and programs. It does not publish to TikTok, Pinterest or Snapchat, its planner is a calendar rather than Later's grid view, and it has no social analytics dashboard, so heavy users of those features may keep a separate scheduler. Our group coaching software page shows the delivery side.
What is Coachful's white-glove service?
It is a free build service on every plan: you describe what you want, such as a website, funnel, program or email sequence, and the Coachful team builds it inside your account, usually within about 24 hours. Nothing is invented, and any gaps are left for you to fill. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing.
