ManyChat Review 2026: Pricing, Limits and Verdict for Coaches

ManyChat Review 2026: Pricing, Limits and Verdict for Coaches

Our ManyChat review for coaches comes down to one sentence: ManyChat is a capable, widely used tool for turning Instagram comments and DMs into leads, and it stops the moment that conversation ends. If you already have booking, payments and delivery working elsewhere, it can do its narrow job well. If you are hoping it will run your coaching business, it will not, because it has no calendar, client records, programs, courses or session notes.

We make Coachful, a coaching platform that competes with part of what ManyChat does, so read this with that in mind. We have not run hands-on tests for this article. Everything below comes from what ManyChat documents and what public reviewers report, and we say where a fact is second-hand.

What is the verdict on ManyChat for coaches?

ManyChat suits coaches who want advanced DM automation and are happy to pay for separate tools for everything after the DM. Most coaches who deliver programs will get more from one platform that also includes Instagram automation.

  • Who it suits: coaches and creators with an active audience, an existing back office, and a need for what ManyChat does best: follow checks, email capture inside the DM, or channels such as WhatsApp, TikTok and Telegram.
  • Who should skip it: coaches looking for one system to book, sell, sign, deliver and track client progress; coaches with small, steady audiences who only need comment-to-link; and anyone uneasy about a bill that rises with each person messaged.
  • Public rating: 2.1 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 309 reviews, seen on 28 October 2026. Summaries of G2 and Capterra place it much higher, in the mid-4s, which we explain below.
  • Price: a Free plan for 25 Active Contacts a month, then paid plans from $17 a month, as listed in October 2026.
  • Our recommendation: Coachful for coaches who deliver programs, and ManyChat as a specialist add-on only if you need a DM feature Coachful does not have.

What is ManyChat?

ManyChat is a chat marketing tool that sends automated messages when someone interacts with your account. Its core use for coaches is the Instagram comment-to-DM funnel: someone comments a keyword on your post, and ManyChat replies publicly and sends them a link or a question in their inbox.

Beyond Instagram, it connects to TikTok, Facebook Messenger and Telegram on every plan, and adds WhatsApp, SMS and email from Pro upward. You pick a limited number of channels on lower plans. Instagram must be a professional account, and ManyChat's help center specifies a Creator account up to 500k followers and a Business account above that.

The important commercial detail is that ManyChat bills by monthly Active Contacts. Its pricing page defines this as one person counting as one Active Contact for the month, so your cost follows how many people you message, not how many clients you serve.

How does ManyChat cover the jobs a coach has to do?

ManyChat is strong on marketing, useful on the first step of selling, and absent from delivery, client experience and most admin. Here is how each job looks, with Coachful alongside for reference.

Build your platform

Marketing: where ManyChat earns its reputation

Even the Free plan includes a long list of triggers: comment-to-DM with a public reply, keyword triggers, story replies and mentions, Follow to DM for welcoming new followers, Live to DM, conversation starters, a default reply, referral links, QR codes and more than 60 templates. That is a generous test bed for 25 contacts a month.

Essential adds the two features many coaches want most. Data Collection captures emails, phone numbers and text answers inside the DM, and Follower Status Check can see whether someone follows you and prompt them to follow before continuing. Essential also adds tags, conditions, randomizer A/B tests and DMs from Meta ads and boosted posts, and it removes ManyChat's branding.

The honest limit is on broadcasts. They arrive on Pro and do not work on Instagram or TikTok, so you cannot use ManyChat to message your whole Instagram audience at will. For a coach whose audience lives on Instagram, its value is responding to engagement rather than starting conversations.

Selling: good at qualifying, thin at closing

On Pro and up, Manychat AI can answer DMs and FAQs from business knowledge you save, reply to comments, recognize intent and qualify leads through an AI step. For a coach who gets the same five questions about a program every week, that is real help, as long as you check what it says about your offer.

Closing is a different matter. ManyChat is not a billing system. The Stripe and PayPal integrations send payments through chat, which is useful for a low-priced product, but they do not give you a coaching agreement, a payment plan attached to a program, or a client record. Discovery calls still need a separate booking tool.

Delivery: not included

ManyChat has no programs, courses, habits, session notes or check-in system. A message in chat can remind a client, but nothing in ManyChat is built to record whether they did the work or how they progressed. A coach using ManyChat always needs another place to deliver the coaching.

Client experience: a conversation, not a home

Your client's experience of ManyChat is a message in Instagram or another channel. That can feel personal and immediate, which is a strength early in the relationship. There is no client portal, app or shared view of goals and sessions once they sign up, so that side has to live somewhere else.

Admin: an inbox and a spreadsheet route

The unified Inbox on mobile and desktop is a genuine convenience, and Business adds a shared team inbox with conversation assignment. Extra Inbox seats are $25 each on Pro and above. Exporting is less convenient. ManyChat documents no one-click full contact CSV. Data Collection responses can be exported, but its help center describes exporting all contacts by pushing fields and tags to Google Sheets through an automation sent as a broadcast, or by using External Request and the API.

How much does ManyChat cost?

ManyChat costs $0 to $199 a month on listed monthly prices, plus a per-contact charge once you pass your plan's allowance. All figures below are as listed in October 2026, read from the official pricing page's own plan data as archived on 9 October 2026, because the live page blocked our fetch on 28 October. Prices exclude tax and depend on your billing country.

ManyChat's pricing page with its plans

Essential and Pro have a 14-day free trial, while Business and Advanced do not. Paid plans need a card, and ManyChat offers a refund if you cancel within 30 days of buying a plan. WhatsApp template messages cost extra, charged per delivered message from a prepaid Manychat Wallet. Third-party reviews say this five-plan structure began on 2 March 2026 and that older accounts may still sit on legacy pricing, which we could not verify on an official page. Our full ManyChat pricing breakdown goes further into each plan.

What happens to the bill when a post takes off?

Overage is charged per contact rather than stopping your automations, so a popular post can raise your bill the same month. You can set an overage threshold, and you should do that on day one.

ManyChat's pricing page on a laptop beside a calculator and a pencil
ManyChat's pricing page on a laptop beside a calculator and a pencil.

These illustrative examples use ManyChat's listed monthly billing rates and ignore tax. They are arithmetic, not forecasts.

Active Contacts in the month (example)EssentialProBusiness
250$17$39$99
1,000$92 ($17 + 750 x $0.10)$39$99
4,000$392 ($17 + 3,750 x $0.10)$114 ($39 + 1,500 x $0.05)$99
10,000$992 ($17 + 9,750 x $0.10)$414 ($39 + 7,500 x $0.05)$161.50 ($99 + 2,500 x $0.025)

Working through those rates gives three useful switch points on monthly billing. Essential costs more than Pro from about 470 contacts. Pro costs more than Business from about 3,700 contacts. Business costs more than Advanced from about 11,500 contacts. Move up before you cross those lines, and Essential stops being the cheap option much sooner than its headline price suggests.

For a coach, the awkward part is that most of those contacts will never buy. A lead-magnet post can bring in a thousand strangers while your client count stays at 15. Your software bill then follows your reach, while your income still follows your client roster.

What do public reviewers praise and complain about?

Reviewers split sharply by platform. ManyChat scored 2.1 out of 5 from 309 reviews on Trustpilot when seen on 28 October 2026, while third-party summaries put it in the mid-4s on G2 and Capterra. We could not load every review page directly, so the themes below come from a mix of public review snippets and summaries, and we paraphrase them.

The gap has a plausible explanation. Anyone can post on Trustpilot unprompted, and people with a billing grievance are motivated to do so. G2 and Capterra reviews tend to come from people who chose and configured the product. Neither view is complete, so read recent reviews yourself before you commit.

What reviewers praise

  • Ease of use and setup. Capterra reviews are described as scoring well for ease of use and onboarding.
  • Integrations. Reviewers point to ready-made connections with tools such as HubSpot and Zapier.
  • Results. Positive Trustpilot reviews tend to focus on campaign results and return on spend.

What reviewers complain about

  • Billing. This is the most common theme. Reviewers report charges after cancelling, unexpected plan changes, poor transaction history and sudden contact-based increases after a viral post.
  • Support. Reviewers describe slow answers and AI-led support that did not resolve the problem. One G2 reviewer describes a paying account stuck for almost three days over a billing or access issue.
  • Reliability. Some reports mention automations failing to fire and accounts disconnecting mid-campaign. One Trustpilot reviewer reports an Instagram account being flagged soon after connecting it.
  • Limits on lower plans. Reviewers often find the Free plan too small once they grow, and some want more channels and features.

These are individual reports, not measured failure rates. They still suggest sensible precautions: set your overage threshold, keep your own record of cancellation confirmations, and do not make a launch depend on a flow you have not tested that week.

What are ManyChat's pros and cons?

ManyChat's main advantage is depth in DM automation, and its main drawback is everything outside the DM. Here is the trade-off beside Coachful's, including what Coachful cannot do.

ToolProsCons
CoachfulOne login for the whole client journey; Instagram automations feed the same lead and client records; programs, habits and check-ins between sessions; flat plans; 0% platform fee; free white-glove buildInstagram only for DM automation; no follow-gate or email capture inside the DM; no PayPal; no permanent free plan; not HIPAA-certified
ManyChatDeep trigger list; many channels; follow check and in-DM data capture from Essential; AI replies from Pro; broad integration list; a working Free planNo booking, client records, programs or courses; contact-based bills can jump; Instagram broadcasts unavailable; no one-click contact export documented; 2.1 Trustpilot score with billing and support complaints

Who is ManyChat best for?

ManyChat fits coaches whose main growth problem is converting social engagement at volume and who already have the rest of their operation in place. Three profiles get clear value from it.

  • The audience-led coach with an existing stack. You already have a scheduler, checkout and delivery tool that you like, and ManyChat feeds them through its Pro integrations with Kit, Flodesk, ActiveCampaign, HubSpot or Zapier.
  • The coach who needs email inside the DM. If your funnel relies on collecting an address in the conversation or checking for a follow before releasing a lead magnet, ManyChat does this and Coachful does not.
  • The multi-channel marketer. If WhatsApp, TikTok or Telegram conversations bring you real leads, ManyChat covers channels that Coachful's automations do not.

It fits less well if you are just starting out, since the money and attention will likely do more on your offer, website and booking flow. It also fits poorly if you run group programs or need client accountability between sessions, since none of that exists inside it.

Why is Coachful the better choice for most coaches?

Coachful handles the comment-to-DM job most coaches actually use and then keeps going through booking, payment, agreement and delivery. A lead does not need to be passed between tools, because they land in the same records you use to coach them.

Coachful is a coaching platform for coaches who deliver programs, not just sessions, including solo coaches growing into a small team and coaches replacing four to six tools. One subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant. The coach has one login, and the client has one branded app.

Which one looks like you?

Coachful builds your coaching website from a few answers, in a design chosen for your niche, with programs, booking and payments ready behind it.

How Coachful's Instagram automations compare

You connect your Instagram professional account under Connections and build automations under Manage. Triggers include a DM, a comment on a post (optionally only with chosen keywords), a story reply, a mention, or a new follower where Meta supports it. Actions send a DM, reply publicly to the comment, send a DM with buttons or quick replies, or send an AI-written reply, which uses 1 AI credit per reply.

ManyChatInstagram, TikTok, Messenger, Telegram; WhatsApp, SMS and email from ProYes, on every planEssential and upEssential and upPro and upManyChat's contact list, then whichever tools you connect

That table shows real gaps on our side, so weigh them honestly. If a follow-gate is central to your funnel, ManyChat is the better tool for that step. Our argument is that many coaches do not need those extras, because a keyword that delivers a booking link or lead magnet does the main work, and the follow-up happens where the coaching happens.

Here is the shape of that journey in Coachful. Someone comments a keyword on your post and receives a DM with your lead magnet. They appear in your prospects list, join an email sequence, book through a page with your availability rules and intake questions, and pay through your own Stripe or Razorpay account. They sign your agreement before the first call, then start a program with weekly goals, daily tasks and check-ins.

What ManyChat would need other tools to do

  • Scheduling: booking pages with buffers, minimum notice and time-zone detection; two-way Google, Apple and Outlook sync; built-in video or automatic Zoom, Meet and Teams links; email reminders plus SMS and WhatsApp reminders once messaging is enabled.
  • Payments: one-time, subscription and payment plan options, order bumps, coupons and refunds through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account, with a 0% Coachful platform fee, so you pay only processing.
  • Agreements: e-signature before the first call, stored on the client record.
  • Client records: goals, check-ins, habits, notes, intake answers, payments and sessions, with an AI briefing per client and a status of thriving, active, quiet or at risk.
  • Delivery: multi-week programs, habits, streaks, courses with drip and completion tracking, cohort groups, group calls and webinars.
  • Website and email: a section-based builder with blog and custom domain, funnels with pixels and UTM tracking, email broadcasts and multi-step sequences.

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. From Create, under We'll build it for you, you describe what you want built, whether that is a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline, email sequence, link in bio or automation. You can attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files. The team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours, and invents nothing: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, with gaps left for you to fill. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. Recent builds include a menopause and midlife health coach starting from nothing, who got a five-page site where every button leads to a free 20-minute consultation, and a business mentor for beauty professionals, who got a 12-week mentorship sales page, a free start-up-guide funnel and rewritten follow-up emails. Read more about the white-glove build service.

What Coachful does not do

Coachful automates DMs on Instagram only, with no WhatsApp, Messenger, TikTok or SMS DM automation, no follow-gate and no email capture inside the DM. It is not HIPAA-certified, so it does not suit clinical record-keeping or insurance billing. There is no PayPal, and no permanent free plan. The client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding rather than under your own App Store account. It has no HubSpot or Salesforce integration, so a sales team built around those should look elsewhere.

To start, take a free trial and request a white-glove build of your first funnel or website. Current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients. Coachful holds 4.5 on Trustpilot from 21 reviews, a small sample worth reading alongside our reviews page.

What are the best ManyChat alternatives for coaches?

Coachful is our first choice because it replaces the DM tool and the stack behind it. The others are good picks when you want something narrower, or a different kind of platform. Vendor prices are as listed in October 2026. For the longer ranking, see our guide to ManyChat alternatives for coaches.

LinkDM

LinkDM is a comment-to-DM tool for Instagram and Facebook, aimed at creators and affiliate marketers. It sends links when people comment, reply to stories, mention you or share a post, and its pricing counts DMs rather than contacts. Free covers 1,000 DMs a month with its branding, and Pro at $19 a month ($15.17 on annual billing) covers up to 25,000. Lead Gen forms on Pro collect emails in the DM. It mentions no AI reply agent. Pick it over Coachful if you only want a cheap link sender and already run everything else. Our LinkDM vs ManyChat comparison covers this choice in detail.

Inrō

Inrō is built only for Instagram, with comment, story, Live, ad and icebreaker triggers plus a CRM of everyone who has interacted. It has a page for coaches and experts, where its AI Agent answers questions about offers, qualifies leads and sends a Calendly link. Prices are in euros: the Free plan has a hard cap of 100 activated contacts a month, and Pro starts at €12.99 for up to 500. Trustpilot shows 4.0, from just 3 reviews. Pick it over Coachful if AI lead qualification on Instagram is the single job you need done, and you already have a separate calendar and coaching platform.

Metricool

Metricool is mainly a social planner and analytics tool, connecting Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest and others, with Flows for comment-to-DM and keyword replies on paid plans. Its Free plan covers one brand and 20 posts a month, while paid plans start at $25 a month ($20 on annual billing). Trustpilot shows 4.1 from 690 reviews. Pick it over Coachful if your priority is analytics or publishing to TikTok and Pinterest, and DMs are a side feature.

GoHighLevel

GoHighLevel is an agency-first marketing CRM with funnels, websites, calendars, SMS, email, invoicing, contracts, courses and communities, built around sub-accounts. Plans start at $97 a month, with SMS, email, phone and AI usage metered on top, and it has a 14-day trial. Trustpilot shows 4.9 from 15,250 reviews. It has no habit tracking, client check-ins or structured program engine. Pick it over Coachful if you run marketing for several businesses and want an agency CRM built around sub-accounts. How should you decide between ManyChat and Coachful?

Start from what happens after the DM. If you can point to a working booking, payment and delivery setup that you would keep regardless, adding ManyChat is a sensible, contained decision. If that setup does not exist or costs you time every week, buying a DM tool first solves the wrong problem.

  1. List the DM features you truly use. If the list is a keyword, a public reply and a link, you do not need a dedicated tool for that.
  2. Estimate your Active Contacts. Take the number of people who engaged with your best month of posts and test it against the overage rates above.
  3. Count your tools after the DM. Add your scheduler, checkout, agreements, email and delivery tools, plus the time spent keeping them in step.
  4. Check your exit. Contacts in ManyChat take an automation or the API to export in full, while Coachful offers a full client data export as a ZIP.
  5. Try the real flow. Use ManyChat's Free plan or a trial of either tool, and walk a test lead from comment to first session.

Is ManyChat worth it? Our final verdict

ManyChat is worth it for a specific coach: one with real social volume, an established stack, and a funnel that benefits from follow checks, in-DM capture or channels beyond Instagram. Its feature depth is real, and its Free plan lets you test before spending. Its weak Trustpilot score and recurring billing complaints mean you should watch your account closely and set an overage limit from the start.

For most coaches who deliver programs, we would not start there. We would start with a coaching platform that runs the whole journey and includes the Instagram automation most funnels need. That is why we recommend Coachful, then adding ManyChat only if a specific DM feature proves it has earned a place.

ManyChat review FAQ

Is ManyChat good for coaches?

It is good at one part of a coaching business: turning social engagement into conversations and leads. It has no booking calendar, client records, programs, courses or session notes, so you will always pair it with other tools. Coaches who want everything in one place are better served by a coaching platform.

Is ManyChat free?

Yes, there is a Free plan with no credit card required, as listed in October 2026. It covers 25 Active Contacts a month, 2 channels and up to 4 live automations, with ManyChat branding on the first message. It cannot collect emails or phone numbers, check follower status, use AI or connect integrations.

Why is ManyChat's Trustpilot score so low?

ManyChat showed 2.1 from 309 reviews on 28 October 2026, and billing and support are the most reported complaints. Trustpilot reviews are unprompted, so people with a problem are overrepresented, and summaries of G2 and Capterra show much higher scores. Treat it as a reason to read recent reviews and watch your billing, not as a complete verdict.

What is an Active Contact in ManyChat?

ManyChat's pricing page says one person equals one Active Contact for the month. Each plan includes an allowance, and extra contacts are charged per person rather than stopping your automations. You can set an overage threshold to limit surprises.

Does ManyChat include AI?

Manychat AI is included on Pro, Business and Advanced on current plans. It can answer DMs and FAQs from saved business knowledge, reply to comments and qualify leads. Older accounts may have a separate add-on, according to third-party reviews we could not verify on an official page.

Can ManyChat take payments for coaching?

It has Stripe and PayPal integrations on Pro and up that send payments through chat, but it is not a billing system. It does not provide payment plans tied to a program, coaching agreements or invoices on a client record. Most coaches would still need a separate checkout setup.

Can Coachful replace ManyChat?

For Instagram comment-to-DM, keyword replies, story replies and AI replies, yes. It cannot replace ManyChat for follow-gates, email capture inside the DM, or WhatsApp, Messenger, TikTok and SMS DM automation. If you rely on those, keep ManyChat for that step.

What is Coachful's free white-glove service?

It is a done-for-you build service available on every plan. You describe a website, funnel, program, email sequence or similar, attach references, and the team builds it in your account, usually within about 24 hours. It does not cover video recording, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing.

How do I export my contacts from ManyChat?

ManyChat documents no one-click full contact CSV. Data Collection responses export as CSV, but its help center describes exporting all contacts by pushing fields and tags to Google Sheets through an automation sent as a broadcast, or by using External Request or the API. Plan this before you commit if ownership of your list matters to you.

Does ManyChat work with a personal Instagram account?

No. Its help center says Instagram must be a professional account, specifying Creator up to 500k followers and Business above that. Coachful's Instagram automations also require a professional account.
