Planoly vs Later for Coaches: An Honest 2026 Comparison

Planoly vs Later for Coaches: An Honest 2026 Comparison

Planoly vs Later comes down to one question for most coaches: do you want your Instagram planner to also sell for you, or only to post for you? Planoly bundles a visual grid planner with Creator Store, a link-in-bio shop that takes paid 1:1 bookings, plus Instagram auto-DMs on every paid plan, from $14 a month billed yearly. Later is the stronger pure scheduler, with deeper analytics, Snapchat publishing and a Social Inbox, but it sells nothing and books nothing, and its entry plan starts at $18.75 a month billed yearly. If you coach, neither one runs your actual coaching, which is where a third option comes in.

This guide compares the two on the things coaches actually use: prices as listed in October 2026, posting limits, networks, DM automation, link in bio, bookings, analytics, and what your clients see. We did not run either tool ourselves; everything below comes from what Planoly and Later document on their own pricing pages and help centers, plus what public reviewers report. We make Coachful, the coaching platform we describe near the end, and we say plainly where Planoly or Later is the better pick.

Planoly vs Later: what is the short answer for each kind of coach?

Pick Planoly if you want one cheap tool to plan Instagram, auto-reply to comment keywords and sell a paid call or a digital download from your bio link. Pick Later if you post heavily across several networks, care about analytics and need a shared inbox for DMs and comments. Pick neither if what you really need is a place to run clients after they pay.

  • New coach, Instagram first, one offer to sell: Planoly Starter. Auto-DMs and Creator Store are included on the lowest paid plan, and Planoly takes no cut of Creator Store sales.
  • Content-heavy coach on five or more networks: Later Growth. You get 180 posts per profile per month, a Social Inbox and a year of analytics.
  • Coach who posts on X: neither. Planoly treats X as reminder-only and Later ended X support on 28 August 2025.
  • Coach selling programs, packages or group coaching: Coachful, which publishes your posts and also runs booking, payments, contracts, programs and the client app. More on that below.
  • Coach who only wants analytics and a team approval flow: Later, from Growth upward.

If you are still weighing other schedulers, our Planoly alternatives for coaches and Later alternatives for coaches guides cover the wider field.

How do Planoly and Later compare side by side?

Ranking criteria for coaches: one login for the whole client journey, delivery between sessions, total cost of the tool stack, and setup effort (including a free white-glove build). On those terms Coachful leads, Planoly comes second because it at least sells and books, and Later comes third for coaching use, though it is the best social analytics tool of the three.

How much do Planoly and Later cost in 2026?

Planoly is cheaper at every tier: $14, $24 and $47 a month billed yearly against Later's $18.75, $37.50 and $82.50. Both offer a 14-day free trial and a limited free plan, but the details differ in ways that matter to a small coaching business.

Later Growth$50$37.50 ($450 a year)2 users, 2 Social Sets180 posts per profile per month, 50 AI credits, 1 year of analytics
Later Scale$110$82.50 ($990 a year)4 users, 6 Social SetsUnlimited posts, 100 AI credits, 2 years of analytics

Yearly totals above are the listed per-month yearly price multiplied by 12; neither pricing page shows a yearly total. A few details worth knowing before you enter a card:

  • Trials. Planoly says all paid plans include a 14-day free trial and that you are not charged until it ends if you have never used one. Later's 14-day trial needs a credit card at signup and converts to a paid plan automatically unless you cancel before day 14; one trial per account.
  • Annual discount. Planoly advertises "save up to 15%" with annual billing, billed upfront. Later's pricing page says "3 months free | 25% off", while its help center mentions four months free, so check the checkout screen.
  • Add-ons. Later charges $15 a month per extra Social Set and $5 per extra user on monthly billing (Growth and Scale only), plus $5 a month for 100 extra AI credits. Planoly's add-ons are cheaper and start on Growth.
  • App store subscribers. Planoly notes that existing App Store or Google Play subscribers who buy a web plan are charged immediately.
  • Taxes. Later states prices are billed in USD with applicable taxes extra.

The sticker price is only half the story for a coach. A scheduler on its own still leaves you paying for a booking tool, a checkout, a course host and an email tool. Our Calendly pricing and Kajabi pricing breakdowns show what those pieces usually add.

Which one publishes to more social networks?

Later covers one more network if you count Snapchat, and Planoly covers full YouTube rather than Shorts only. Neither auto-publishes to X, Bluesky or Google Business Profile.

Planoly auto-posts to Instagram, Facebook Pages, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads and Pinterest on every paid plan, with X as a reminder only. Later publishes to Instagram, Facebook Pages, Threads, Pinterest, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube (Shorts only) and Snapchat; it ended X support on 28 August 2025. A Later Social Set holds one profile per network, so one set can cover up to eight profiles. A Planoly Social Set is likewise one account per network.

Posting volume is where the plans diverge. Planoly's paid plans all include unlimited uploads. Later Starter caps you at 30 posts per profile per month, which is about one a day per network; Growth raises that to 180 and Scale removes the cap. For a coach posting daily on Instagram plus Stories, Later Starter's cap can bite, because the limit is per profile, not per network family. If you are comparing Later with other per-post schedulers, see Buffer vs Later.

How do the visual planners and AI caption tools compare?

Both started as Instagram grid planners and both still show a drag-and-drop preview of your feed. The difference is in AI limits: Planoly includes an AI idea generator and caption writer on every paid plan, while Later meters AI with credits.

Later Starter gives 5 AI credits a month, Growth 50 and Scale 100, and its AI Caption Writer and Ideas work in English only. Later's pricing page says Starter cannot buy extra AI credits, although its help center lists credit add-ons for all paid plans, so the answer may depend on when you ask. Later Starter also adds best-time-to-post suggestions and Instagram first-comment scheduling, plus carousels and Stories auto-publishing (which the Free plan does not include).

Planoly pairs its planner with a media library and, on Growth and Pro, an optional Content Marketplace add-on of editable Canva templates, price not listed. Later integrates with Canva and Dropbox even on its Free plan.

Which one automates Instagram DMs for lead generation?

Planoly does; Later does not. This is the single biggest difference for coaches who grow through "comment GUIDE and I will send it to you" posts.

Planoly's auto-DMs send an automatic response when someone uses a keyword in a comment, a DM or both, and they are included on every paid plan. Later documents no automated DM or comment replies. Instead, Later Growth and Scale include a Social Inbox, in beta and desktop only, where you can read and answer Instagram and Facebook DMs and comments on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok by hand. That suits a coach with an assistant who answers messages, not a solo coach who wants the lead magnet delivered at 2 a.m.

What happens after the DM matters too. In Planoly, the link in that DM can point to Creator Store, where the buyer becomes a contact in Planoly's CRM. In Later, the link points somewhere else entirely, because Later has nowhere to sell or book.

Link in bio, bookings and payments: which one can actually sell?

Planoly can sell and take paid 1:1 bookings through Creator Store; Later's Link in Bio page collects email sign-ups and sends clicks elsewhere. For a coach, this is usually the deciding feature.

Planoly Creator Store is included on every paid plan. Planoly describes it as a link-in-bio storefront for digital downloads, e-courses, memberships, live events, merch and paid 1:1 consultations. Planoly says it takes no cut of your sales; you connect your own Stripe or PayPal account and pay their processing fees. Paid 1:1 bookings support availability windows, buffers, Google Calendar sync, Zoom or Google Meet links and client self-rescheduling. Outlook sync is not mentioned, and Planoly's help center labels custom confirmation emails and a secondary calendar for conflict checks as Pro features. A built-in CRM stores customer contacts and sends automated email flows and broadcasts.

Later Link in Bio comes with every plan, one page per Social Set. It can collect email sign-ups to Mailchimp or a CSV file, and paid plans remove Later's branding and add custom SEO and UTM values. Later does not process payments, offer a booking calendar, or host courses or programs.

Neither tool describes structured coaching programs, session notes, contracts or a client portal. Planoly's Creator Store can sell an e-course, but after purchase there is no documented check-in, habit tracker or program week for the client to follow. That gap is what most coaches end up filling with three or four more subscriptions. Our HoneyBook pricing and GoHighLevel pricing guides show what those back-office tools cost on their own.

Which has better analytics and reporting?

Later, clearly. Its analytics go deeper, last longer and export more cleanly, especially from Growth upward.

Later Starter includes three months of analytics for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, Threads and LinkedIn, with CSV export for Instagram, Facebook and Threads. Growth extends history to a year and adds hashtag analytics, a shareable performance report, LinkedIn CSV export and Social Listening Collect for mentions and user-generated content. Scale adds custom analytics with scheduled email reports, competitor benchmarking for up to 20 Instagram competitors, and sentiment and trend insights. Graphs themselves cannot be exported.

Planoly's paid plans include analytics with shareable reports. An older Planoly blog guide documents CSV export of Overview, Audience, Engagement and Post Media data, but Planoly does not publish the same plan-by-plan analytics breakdown that Later does. If you report results to a business partner or run content as a core part of your coaching offer, Later's reporting is worth paying for. Our Metricool vs Later comparison covers another analytics-heavy option.

What do public reviewers say about Planoly and Later?

Both carry weak public ratings, with Later's the lower of the two. On Trustpilot, as seen on 28 October 2026, Planoly scored 3.2 from 61 reviews and Later scored 1.4 from 352 reviews.

Trustpilot skews toward people with billing or account problems, so treat these numbers as a prompt to read the trial terms closely rather than as a verdict on the product. Given Later's card-required trial that converts automatically, set a calendar reminder for day 12 if you try it. For reference, Coachful's Trustpilot score is 4.5 from 21 reviews, a smaller sample.

What does the client experience look like with each tool?

With Planoly, a client experiences a storefront and a checkout; with Later, they experience a link page that sends them somewhere else. Neither gives a client a place to return to after they buy.

Walk through a typical coaching client journey: a prospect sees a post, comments a keyword, gets a lead magnet, books a discovery call, pays for a 12-week program, signs an agreement, then needs weekly goals, check-ins and a way to message you between sessions. Planoly covers the first four or five steps, as long as you are happy with Google Calendar only and a buyer list in Planoly's CRM. Later covers the post and the link click. Everything after payment, the part clients actually judge you on, has to live in another tool.

That handoff is where coaches lose people. Each extra login is another place a client can stall. If your coaching depends on what happens between calls, that matters more than which scheduler has the nicer grid preview.

Which one looks like you?

Coachful builds your coaching website from a few answers, in a design chosen for your niche, with programs, booking and payments ready behind it.

Build your platform

What is the third option, and when does Coachful beat both?

Coachful is a coaching platform that includes a social planner and Instagram automations alongside booking, payments, contracts, programs, courses, community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant. It beats Planoly and Later when you sell coaching rather than content, and it loses to them when social media is the whole job.

What Coachful is and who it is for. One subscription, one login for the coach and one branded app for the client. It is built for coaches who deliver programs, not just sessions, solo coaches growing into a small team, and coaches replacing four to six tools. We make Coachful, so weigh this section accordingly; the facts below are limited to what the product actually does.

Social publishing. Coachful's Social planner (Sell, then How you reach them, then Social planner) helps with post ideas and captions, then schedules and publishes to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads and YouTube from one calendar. Each network publishes separately, with a per-network retry and a notification if one fails. Coachful publishes to X, which neither Planoly nor Later does today.

Instagram automations. Under Manage, then Your client experience, then Automations, with your Instagram professional account connected, Coachful can trigger on a DM, a comment on a post (optionally only when it contains chosen keywords), a story reply, a mention, or a new follower where Meta supports it. Actions send a DM, reply publicly to the comment, send a DM with buttons or quick replies, or send an AI-written reply (one AI credit per reply). The person who comments your keyword gets your booking link, lead magnet or checkout, and lands in the same Coachful lead and client records you coach from.

The demo Automations screen in Coachful shows app automation, reminder and Instagram automation choices; none are active in this example.

After the click. This is where Coachful does what neither scheduler attempts:

  • Booking with availability rules, buffers, minimum notice, time-zone detection, two-way Google, Apple/iCloud and Outlook sync, built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet or Teams links, intake questions, and email reminders plus SMS and WhatsApp reminders once messaging is enabled. See scheduling software for coaches.
  • Payments through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account: one-time, subscriptions, payment plans, order bumps, coupons, refunds, Apple Pay and Google Pay, with a 0% Coachful platform fee since August 2026. See coaching payment software.
  • Coaching agreements with e-signature, sent before the first call and stored on the client record. See coaching contracts.
  • Programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, progress bars and streaks, plus courses with drip and completion tracking.
  • Community feed, group chat, direct messages and cohort groups created automatically when a client enrolls. See group coaching software.
  • Website and funnels with a blog, custom domain, 30 designed homepage templates, booking, application, lead-magnet and checkout funnels, and a link-in-bio page that sells. See coach website builder.
  • Email lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences with triggers, delays, branching and A/B splits.
  • Michelle, the AI assistant, works from your live practice data: builds programs, drafts emails and posts, summarizes recorded sessions and briefs you before each one. Questions and planning are included in the membership; confirmed builds use AI credits. See AI coaching assistant.

Here is a short walkthrough of how a funnel connects a social post to a booking or a sale inside Coachful:

When Coachful does not beat them. Be honest with yourself about what you need:

  • If you publish to TikTok or Pinterest, Coachful does not publish there; Planoly and Later both do.
  • If you need analytics dashboards, competitor benchmarking or a unified social inbox, Later is the better tool. Coachful's social planner does not offer those.
  • If you need Snapchat publishing, only Later has it.
  • If you want PayPal checkout, Planoly's Creator Store supports it and Coachful does not.
  • If you only sell digital downloads and never coach anyone over weeks, Planoly Starter is cheaper and simpler.
  • Coachful is not HIPAA-certified, every plan is paid once the trial ends, and its client app runs under the Coachful listing with your branding rather than your own App Store account.

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. From Create, then We'll build it for you, you describe what you want built (a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline, email sequence, link in bio, lead quiz, webinar or automation) and attach up to 8 reference links and 10 files such as your logo, photos and existing copy. The Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. Nothing gets invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. It does not include filming videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. Recent anonymized examples: a business mentor for beauty professionals got a 12-week mentorship sales page, a free start-up-guide funnel and rewritten follow-up emails; a leadership coach with a Squarespace renewal days away got one clean homepage with a repeated "talk with me" button. How does the total cost compare once you add the rest of your stack?

Planoly or Later is rarely the only bill. A coach on either one still needs somewhere to run sessions, programs and client follow-up, so the fair comparison is the whole stack, not the scheduler.

Take an illustrative example: a solo coach with 15 clients who posts on Instagram and LinkedIn, sells a 12-week program, and runs a weekly group call. Here is what each route needs.

Which should you pick: Planoly, Later or Coachful?

Match the tool to the job your business actually depends on. Here is the decision in one place.

  1. Pick Coachful if you sell coaching packages, programs or group coaching and want posting, Instagram automations, booking, payments, contracts and client delivery in one login. It suits life coaches, fitness coaches and business coaches who are tired of copying data between tools.
  2. Pick Planoly if you are Instagram-first, sell digital products or a simple paid call, want comment-keyword auto-DMs at the lowest price, and use Google Calendar. Pick it over Coachful if you post to TikTok or Pinterest, need PayPal checkout, or only sell downloads rather than ongoing coaching.
  3. Pick Later if social content is a core service you deliver, you publish across many networks including Snapchat, and you need analytics, approvals and a shared inbox. Pick it over Coachful if analytics dashboards, competitor benchmarking or a unified inbox are must-haves.

Many coaches land on a split: Coachful for the business and client side, with Later kept only for TikTok or Pinterest scheduling. That is a reasonable setup if those networks drive your leads. If they do not, one tool is simpler.

Planoly vs Later: frequently asked questions

Is Planoly or Later cheaper?

Planoly is cheaper at every tier as listed in October 2026. Its Starter plan is $14 a month billed yearly or $16 monthly, against Later Starter at $18.75 yearly or $25 monthly. Planoly also includes unlimited uploads on every paid plan, while Later Starter caps you at 30 posts per profile per month.

Does Later have automated Instagram DMs like Planoly?

No. Later documents no automated DM or comment-reply features. Its Social Inbox, on Growth and Scale, lets you answer Instagram and Facebook DMs and comments by hand, and is in beta and desktop only. Planoly includes keyword-triggered auto-DMs on every paid plan.

Can I take paid coaching bookings with Planoly or Later?

Planoly can, through Creator Store's paid 1:1 consultations, with availability windows, buffers, Google Calendar sync and Zoom or Google Meet links. Later cannot; it has no booking calendar or payments. Neither offers contracts, programs or a client portal after the booking.

Do Planoly or Later post to X (Twitter)?

Not automatically. Planoly treats X as reminder-only, and Later ended X support on 28 August 2025. Coachful's social planner publishes to X along with Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads and YouTube.

Which has better analytics, Planoly or Later?

Later. Its paid plans include analytics across six networks, with CSV export for Instagram, Facebook and Threads, and Growth and Scale add a year or two of history, hashtag analytics, shareable reports and, on Scale, competitor benchmarking. Planoly includes analytics with shareable reports but documents less depth.

Do Planoly and Later have free plans?

Both do, with tight limits. Planoly's free plan runs on the mobile app with 10 uploads a month. Later's free plan, documented in its help center rather than on its pricing page, allows 12 posts per profile per month with no analytics. Both offer 14-day trials of paid plans; Later's needs a card and converts automatically.

Is Coachful a replacement for Planoly or Later?

For many coaches, yes: it schedules posts to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads and YouTube and runs Instagram comment and DM automations. It does not publish to TikTok or Pinterest and has no analytics dashboards or unified social inbox, so content-heavy coaches on those networks may keep a scheduler alongside it.

What is Coachful's free white-glove service?

Every Coachful plan includes a free build service: you describe a website, funnel, program, email sequence or similar, attach references, and the Coachful team builds it inside your account, usually within about 24 hours. It does not invent testimonials or credentials, and it does not cover video recording, logo design or ads.

Can I sell courses with Planoly or Later?

Planoly's Creator Store can sell e-courses and memberships with no Planoly cut of sales; you pay Stripe or PayPal processing. Later does not sell anything. Coachful hosts courses with modules, drip and completion tracking inside the client's branded app, alongside programs and check-ins.

Which tool is best for a brand-new coach?

If you only need to post and sell one download, Planoly Starter is the simplest low-cost start. If you are signing your first paying clients and want them booked, paid, contracted and coached in one place, start a Coachful trial and use the free white-glove build to get your site and first funnel live.
