ConvertKit vs Systeme io: Which Fits Coaches in 2026?

ConvertKit vs Systeme io: Which Fits Coaches in 2026?

In the convertkit vs systeme io decision, the honest answer for most coaches is this: Kit (the new name for ConvertKit) is the better email and newsletter tool, and Systeme io is the cheaper way to get funnels, courses and email under one login. Neither one runs your actual coaching. There is no client record, no session calendar with your notes attached, and no place for a client to log habits or check in between calls. If you coach people one to one or in programs, you will end up adding tools to either of them.

This guide compares the two on price, email, funnels, courses, payments and what your clients see, using what each vendor documents and prices as listed in October 2026. Then it covers a third option, Coachful, which puts the marketing side and the delivery side in one place. We make Coachful, so we say plainly where it wins and where Kit or Systeme io is the better buy.

What is the short answer by use case?

Pick Kit if your business runs on a newsletter. Pick Systeme io if you want the lowest-cost funnel and course stack. Pick Coachful if you deliver coaching programs and want booking, payments, client progress and marketing in one membership.

  • You write a weekly newsletter and sell a few digital products: Kit. Its free plan covers up to 10,000 subscribers for broadcasts, forms and landing pages, and its editor and recommendation network are built for writers.
  • You are launching a low-ticket course or lead magnet on a tight budget: Systeme io. The free plan includes funnels, a course, a blog and 0% transaction fees.
  • You sell 1:1 coaching packages or multi-week programs: Coachful. Neither Kit nor Systeme io books sessions against your calendar, sends agreements for e-signature or tracks client habits and check-ins.
  • You run group programs with a cohort community: Coachful, because cohorts are created automatically when a client enrolls in a program. Systeme io has a basic community; Kit has none.
  • You already have a coaching platform and only need better email: Kit, or the email tools inside the platform you already pay for.

If you want the long version on either tool, we have a full Systeme io review and a separate Flodesk vs ConvertKit comparison.

How do Kit, Systeme io and Coachful compare side by side?

Build your platform

What does each one cost in 2026?

Systeme io is cheaper at almost every list size, and its price does not climb with your subscriber count until you hit a plan's contact cap. Kit's free plan is more generous for pure newsletter sending, but automations and sequences need a paid plan whose price scales with your list.

Systeme io Webinar$4710,000 contacts, 50 funnels, 20 courses, evergreen webinars0%
Systeme io Unlimited$97Unlimited contacts, funnels, courses and automation rules0%

Both vendors offer annual billing as "2 months free" without printing the yearly totals. Kit offers a 14-day free trial of Creator and Pro with no credit card. Systeme io's free plan never expires and needs no card. Systeme io's page shows "$" without naming the currency.

Systeme io pricing page listing the Free, Startup, Webinar and Unlimited plans
Systeme.io's pricing page in October 2026.

What do the transaction fees mean in real money?

Here is an illustrative example, not a quote. Say you sell a $500 coaching package through each tool's own checkout.

  • Kit Commerce: 3.5% + $0.30 = $17.80 per sale, all in. That figure already includes card processing.
  • Systeme io: no Systeme io fee. You pay only your Stripe or PayPal processing rate, which depends on your account and country.

On ten sales a month, Kit's fee in this example is $178. That is more than Systeme io's top plan, and it is the part of the Kit bill people tend to forget. If you sell high-ticket coaching, connect checkout through a tool that charges no platform fee, or check whether your Stripe rate beats 3.5% + $0.30 before you commit. For a full breakdown of Systeme io's plans, see our Systeme io pricing guide.

What does the full coaching stack cost?

Neither price covers your whole business. A coach on Kit Creator at 1,000 subscribers pays from $39/month and still needs a booking tool, a contract tool, a course or client portal and somewhere to track client progress. A coach on Systeme io Startup pays $17/month and still needs booking, contracts and client progress tracking. Add those subscriptions before comparing totals. Coachful's flat plans include booking, payments, agreements, programs, courses, community, website, funnels and email in one membership (Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients).

Which is better for email marketing?

Kit is the better email tool. It was built as a newsletter platform first, and its paid plans add the testing, deliverability reporting and subscriber scoring that serious senders want. Systeme io's email is solid for funnel follow-ups, but it is one part of a larger suite.

Kit's email strengths

  • Free broadcasts to a large list. Up to 10,000 subscribers on the free plan, with tagging, segmentation and broadcast A/B tests.
  • Visual automations and sequences on Creator and Pro. These are the backbone of a welcome series or a nurture sequence for a discovery-call offer.
  • Creator Network recommendations. The free plan has 5 recommendation slots; paid recommendations are on Creator.
  • Pro extras: email content A/B tests, deliverability reporting, engagement scoring, Facebook Custom Audiences and the SparkLoop referral system.

The catch for coaches: on the free plan you cannot build an automated welcome sequence. You can broadcast, but the moment you want "someone downloads my guide, then gets five emails over two weeks", you are on Creator.

Systeme io's email

Systeme io sends unlimited emails even on the free plan, but the free plan caps you at one automation rule and one email campaign. Startup and above raise those limits, and Unlimited removes the cap on automation rules. Where Systeme io shines is the link between email and funnels: a contact who opts in on a funnel page goes straight into a campaign without any connector.

Email rules apply either way

Whichever tool you pick, commercial email has legal requirements. In the United States, the FTC's CAN-SPAM compliance guide covers honest subject lines, a physical address and a working unsubscribe. Rules differ in the EU, UK and Canada, so check with an attorney if you mail internationally.

How Coachful handles email

Coachful includes email lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences with triggers, delays, branching and A/B splits in your membership. The difference is what the email knows about. Because it sits on the same record as bookings, payments and program progress, a sequence can start when a client enrolls in a program or books a discovery call, without a Zapier step in the middle. Kit still has the edge for newsletter-specific features like its recommendation network and deliverability reporting.

Which is better for funnels, landing pages and websites?

Systeme io wins this one easily. It is a funnel builder at heart, with sales pages, order bumps, a blog and custom domains. Kit offers unlimited landing pages and forms, but they are for capturing subscribers, not for building multi-step sales funnels or a full website.

Systeme io's funnel caps matter, though. As listed in October 2026, the free plan allows 3 funnels, Startup 10 and Webinar 50; an earlier version of the page showed Startup as unlimited. If you run separate funnels per offer, per lead magnet and per webinar, ten fills up faster than you would expect. Our Systeme io vs ClickFunnels comparison goes deeper on funnel features.

Kit's landing pages are good for a single opt-in: a free guide, a waitlist or a newsletter sign-up. For a homepage, About page, services page and blog, you would pair Kit with a separate website builder.

Coachful includes a section-based website builder with a blog, custom domain, SEO settings and 30 designed homepage templates, plus booking, application, lead-magnet and checkout funnels with pixel and UTM tracking, and a link-in-bio page that sells. It is built for coaching sites only; it is not a general website builder and does not take third-party plugins. Read more on the coach website builder page.

Which handles courses and community better?

Systeme io does, because Kit has neither a course portal nor a community. Kit can sell and fulfill digital products such as downloads and paid newsletters, but there is no place for a student to work through modules.

Systeme io includes a course on the free plan (500 students) and up to 20 courses on Webinar, plus a community. Our September 2026 profile found both features basic compared with a dedicated course or community platform, and no branded mobile app. For a simple self-paced course with a few video lessons, that is often enough.

Coachful includes courses with modules, lessons, drip release and completion tracking, plus downloads, videos, books, AI tools, events and bundles, all delivered into the client's branded home and app. Its community has a feed, group chat, direct messages and video events, and cohort groups are created automatically when someone enrolls in a program. It also ships 48 course templates with quizzes. Coachful is not a course marketplace, so students do not discover you there; you bring your own audience. See the course platform for coaches page for more.

Can either one book sessions and manage clients?

No. Kit has no scheduling, client records or session management. Systeme io has no native 1:1 scheduling tied to client records, habits or check-ins (based on our September 2026 profile). For coaching calls you would add a separate booking tool and keep client notes somewhere else.

That is the biggest gap in this comparison for working coaches. A typical paid client relationship has these steps:

  1. A lead books a discovery call.
  2. They pay for a package.
  3. They sign a coaching agreement.
  4. They book their first session and answer intake questions.
  5. They work on goals and habits between sessions.
  6. You review progress before each call.

Kit covers step 2 only for digital products. Systeme io covers step 2. Neither covers steps 1 and 3 to 6 on its own, so the coach glues together a scheduler, an e-signature tool, a forms tool and a spreadsheet or notes app.

Coachful covers all six. Booking pages have availability rules, buffers, minimum notice and time-zone detection, with two-way Google, Apple/iCloud and Outlook calendar sync and built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet or Teams links. Reminders go by email, plus SMS (24 hours before) and WhatsApp (1 hour before) once messaging is enabled. Coaching agreements go out for e-signature before the first call and are stored on the client record. Intake answers, notes, payments, sessions, goals, habits and check-ins sit on that same record, with an AI briefing before each session. More on the scheduling software page.

How do payments compare?

Systeme io is cheaper per sale: 0% transaction fees on every plan, including free, with Stripe or PayPal processing. Kit Commerce charges 3.5% + $0.30 per USD transaction, all in, with no monthly fee for Commerce itself.

Other differences worth knowing:

  • PayPal: Systeme io supports it. Kit Commerce is built in and Stripe-backed. Coachful does not support PayPal.
  • What you can sell: Kit fulfills digital products and subscriptions. Systeme io sells courses, memberships and products through funnels. Neither is designed around coaching packages with session credits.
  • Coachful runs through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account with one-time payments, subscriptions, payment plans, order bumps, coupons, refunds, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Stripe Tax, plus session credits and paid sessions. It has charged a 0% platform fee since August 2026; you pay only Stripe or Razorpay processing. See coaching payment software for details.

Tax rules on digital sales vary by country and state. Check with an accountant before you decide how to collect sales tax or VAT.

Which one looks like you?

Coachful builds your coaching website from a few answers, in a design chosen for your niche, with programs, booking and payments ready behind it.

Build your platform

What does the client experience look like in each?

With Kit, your client experiences you through their inbox and a few landing pages. With Systeme io, they also get a course area and possibly a community. With Coachful, they get one branded home and app where their sessions, program, habits, check-ins, courses and community live together.

This matters more than it sounds. Coaching results come from what happens between sessions. If a client has to remember three logins (the course portal, the scheduler and a shared doc for homework), small things slip. When everything is in one place, the client opens the app, sees today's task and this week's goal, logs a habit and books the next call.

What do public reviewers say?

On Trustpilot, as listed in October 2026, Systeme io scores 4.9 from 8,696 reviews and Kit scores 3.9 from 162 reviews. Coachful scores 4.5 from 21 reviews. Ratings are a signal, not a verdict: sample sizes differ widely, and a small sample moves more with each review. Read the most recent reviews for the features you would actually use, not just the score.

Is there a third option that beats both?

For coaches who deliver programs, yes: Coachful. It covers what Kit does for email and what Systeme io does for funnels and courses, and adds the coaching delivery neither one has. For a newsletter-only business or a pure course seller on a tight budget, Kit or Systeme io can still be the better fit.

What Coachful is

Coachful is a coaching platform. One subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant. You get one login, and your clients get one branded app. It is built for coaches who deliver programs, not just sessions; solo coaches growing into a small team; and coaches replacing four to six tools. The company is based in Tallinn, Estonia.

Who it is for

  • Life, health, business, career and mindset coaches selling packages and programs. See pages for life coaches and business coaches.
  • New coaches who want the whole setup done at once. See Coachful for new coaches.
  • Coaches running group programs, with cohorts, group calls and webinars. See group coaching software.
  • Small teams: Studio and Agency plans add coach seats with per-coach availability and staff permissions, plus round-robin or least-busy assignment for shared session types.

When Coachful beats both

  • Between-session delivery. Multi-week programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks. Over 40 ready-to-film program templates help you start.
  • One record per client. Goals, check-ins, habits, notes, intake answers, tags, payments and sessions together, with a status of thriving, active, quiet or at risk.
  • Michelle, the built-in AI assistant. Works from your live practice data: builds programs, drafts emails and content, summarizes recorded sessions and briefs you before sessions. Questions and planning are included in your membership; confirmed builds and changes use AI credits. You can also set up an AI Coach that selected clients chat with between sessions.
  • Social and Instagram. A social planner schedules posts to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads and YouTube. Instagram automations can reply to a keyword comment with a DM carrying your booking link, lead magnet or checkout, and the person lands in the same lead and client records.
  • ICF credential tracking. Counts coaching hours and distinct clients against ACC, PCC and MCC thresholds and exports an ICF client coaching log. See ICF hour tracking.

Here is a short walkthrough of Coachful's email tools, the part that replaces Kit for most coaches:

When Kit or Systeme io is the better buy

  • You want a permanent free plan. Kit and Systeme io both have one; Coachful offers a free trial, not a free plan.
  • You need PayPal. Systeme io supports it; Coachful does not.
  • You only send a newsletter. Kit's recommendation network, deliverability reporting and referral system are more specialised.
  • You sell only a low-ticket course and never meet clients. Systeme io's free or Startup plan is hard to beat on price.
  • You need clinical records or HIPAA. Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and offers no BAA. Clinical notes and insurance billing belong in a clinical system.
  • You need wearable sync. Coachful does not sync with Garmin, Fitbit, Whoop or Oura.
  • You run a large sales team. Coachful has no multi-stage deal board and no Salesforce or HubSpot integration.

The white-glove build

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. On every plan, you can go to Create, then "We'll build it for you · FREE", describe what you want, attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files (logos, photos, brand guides, copy), and the Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. That can be a website, a funnel, a sales page, a program, a course outline and written material, an email sequence, a lead quiz, a link in bio and more. Nothing gets invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing.

Some recent anonymized builds: a menopause and midlife health coach starting from nothing got a five-page site in sage and cream with every button leading to a free 20-minute consultation. A somatic coach leaving Kajabi had the homepage and About page rebuilt and the contact form connected. A business mentor for beauty professionals got a 12-week mentorship sales page, a free start-up-guide funnel and rewritten follow-up emails. Read more about the free white-glove service.

How to start

  1. Start a free trial and pick a plan by client count (Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients).
  2. Connect Stripe or Razorpay and your calendar.
  3. Request a white-glove build for your website, funnel or first program.
  4. Let the team import your clients, programs and content during onboarding.
  5. Export your Kit or Systeme io contacts to CSV and bring them over. Kit exports all subscribers or a segment from the dashboard; Systeme io emails a CSV link that stays valid for 3 days, so download it promptly.

For coaches who want no client cap, the unlimited plan is Pro (Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients). Monthly plans cancel in one click. If you ever leave, Coachful exports your full client data as a ZIP, including roster, notes, check-ins, goals, habits, sessions and form responses. You can compare more tools on our comparison hub or the Systeme io alternative page.

How hard is it to switch between them?

Moving contacts is easy in all three directions; moving funnels and courses is not. Kit exports subscribers to CSV. Systeme io exports contacts to CSV, but our September 2026 profile found courses and pages are not bulk-exportable, so you rebuild them.

Practical steps for any move:

  • Export contacts with tags, so you keep your segments.
  • List every automation and sequence, with its trigger and each email, before you cancel.
  • Download course videos and files you uploaded; you will need the originals.
  • Keep the old account live for a billing cycle while you test the new one.
  • Re-confirm consent records if you mail in the EU or UK, and check with an attorney if unsure.

Frequently asked questions

Is ConvertKit the same as Kit?

Yes. ConvertKit renamed itself Kit. The product, help center and pricing now sit under the Kit name, and people still search for it as ConvertKit.

Is Systeme io cheaper than Kit?

Usually. As listed in October 2026, Systeme io's paid plans are $17, $47 and $97 per month at fixed contact limits, while Kit's Creator starts at $39 per month for 1,000 subscribers and rises as your list grows. Kit's free plan is more generous for newsletter sending, though, at up to 10,000 subscribers.

Which has better email deliverability tools?

Kit. Its Pro plan adds deliverability reporting and engagement scoring, and Kit was built as an email platform first. Systeme io's email is aimed at funnel follow-up rather than advanced newsletter analytics.

Can I book coaching sessions in Kit or Systeme io?

Not natively. Kit has no scheduling, and Systeme io has no native 1:1 scheduling tied to client records. You would add a separate booking tool, or use a coaching platform like Coachful where booking, reminders and calendar sync are included in your membership.

Does Kit charge transaction fees?

Kit Commerce charges 3.5% + $0.30 per USD transaction, which includes card processing, and there is no monthly fee for Commerce. Systeme io charges 0% on all plans, with only Stripe or PayPal processing.

Can I run an online course on Kit?

Not as a course portal. Kit sells and fulfills digital products and subscriptions, but it has no lesson area or community. Systeme io and Coachful both include courses.

Can I try Coachful before paying?

Yes. Coachful offers a free trial and flat monthly plans that you can cancel in one click. Kit and Systeme io both have permanent free plans, which is a real advantage if you are not yet earning.

What is Coachful's free white-glove service?

It is a done-for-you build included on every plan. You describe what you need, such as a website, funnel, program or email sequence, attach references, and the Coachful team builds it inside your account, usually within about 24 hours. It does not include video recording, logo design or ad management.

Can I move my Kit or Systeme io list into Coachful?

Yes. Export your contacts to CSV from either tool and bring them over; during onboarding, Coachful imports clients, programs and content for you. Funnels and courses from Systeme io need rebuilding, which the white-glove service can help with.

Is Coachful suitable for health coaches?

Yes, for coaching, but coaching is not medical treatment. Coachful is not HIPAA-certified, so clinical records and insurance billing belong in a clinical system, and clients with medical symptoms should be referred to a doctor. See the health coaches page for what is included.
