Stan Store vs Thinkific: Which Should Coaches Pick in 2026?

Stan Store vs Thinkific comes down to what you sell. Stan Store is a link-in-bio storefront that sells digital products, courses, memberships and paid calls from your social media profiles, starting at $29 a month. Thinkific is a course platform that runs a full online school with cohorts, quizzes, certificates and communities, starting at $109 a month. If most of your income comes from social media and one-off offers, Stan is the lighter, cheaper fit. If you are building a structured course business for hundreds or thousands of students, Thinkific is built for that. Neither one runs 1:1 coaching end to end: no contracts, no client records, no habits or check-ins between sessions.
That gap is why this comparison ends with a third option. We make Coachful, a coaching platform that covers booking, payments, contracts, programs, courses, community, a website and email in one login. We will be honest about where Stan Store or Thinkific is the better pick, and where Coachful beats both. Every vendor price below is as listed in October 2026.
What is the short answer on Stan Store vs Thinkific?
Pick Stan Store if you sell to a social audience and want a checkout live this afternoon. Pick Thinkific if courses are your main product and you need a real learning environment. Pick a coaching platform if your income comes from clients you work with over weeks or months.
Here is the short answer by use case:
- You sell a lead magnet, a mini course and a paid call from your bio link: Stan Store. Its Creator plan covers a storefront, calendar booking, a course builder, lead magnets, a community and Instagram AutoDM.
- You run a flagship course with cohorts, quizzes and certificates: Thinkific. Its Start plan includes unlimited courses, live cohorts with Zoom, quizzes, certificates, memberships and a custom domain.
- You need upsells, email sequences and affiliates on a creator store: Stan Store Creator Pro, at $99 a month.
- You sell training to companies or need exams, an API and white-label branding: Thinkific Grow or higher.
- You coach clients 1:1 or in groups through a multi-week program: neither fits well on its own. Look at a coaching platform such as Coachful, covered in the last section.
How do Stan Store and Thinkific compare side by side?
Stan Store optimizes for selling quickly from social media; Thinkific optimizes for teaching courses at scale. We rank the three options by what matters most to a working coach.
Ranking criteria: one login for the whole client journey, delivery between sessions, total stack cost, and setup effort (including whether someone will build it for you).
| Tool | Built for | 1:1 booking | Courses | Programs, habits, check-ins | Contracts and client records | Starting price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Coaches running sessions and multi-week programs | Yes, with two-way calendar sync and built-in video | Yes, modules, lessons, drip, completion tracking | Yes, weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins | Yes, e-signed agreements and a full client record | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients |
| Stan Store | Creators selling from a link in bio | Yes, calendar booking on Creator | Yes, unlimited course builder | No | No contracts, invoices or client records | $29/month (Creator) |
| Thinkific | Course creators and online schools | Not listed as a native 1:1 calendar; coaching products and Zoom cohorts | Yes, the core product, with quizzes and certificates | No | Student records; no coaching agreements listed | $109/month (Start) |
Public reviewers see the two very differently. Stan Store held a 4.7 Trustpilot score from 2,205 reviews in October 2026. Thinkific held 1.8 from 868 reviews on the same site. A score only reflects who chose to post, so read a dozen recent reviews for both before you commit rather than treating the score as the verdict.

How much do Stan Store and Thinkific cost?
Stan Store costs $29 or $99 a month, and Thinkific's self-serve plans run from $109 to $499 a month, as listed in October 2026. Both offer a discount for annual billing, and neither takes a platform cut when you use their own payment setup.
| Tool and plan | Monthly | Billed annually (per month) | Key limits | Platform fee on sales |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients | Flat monthly plans that cancel in one click | Lower plans cap clients; Pro is unlimited (Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients) | 0% platform fee; only Stripe or Razorpay processing |
| Stan Store Creator | $29 | $25 ($300/year) | Unlimited products and customers; one store | 0%; Stripe or PayPal processing |
| Stan Store Creator Pro | $99 | $79 ($948/year) | Unlimited products and customers; adds email, upsells, funnels, affiliates | 0%; Stripe or PayPal processing |
| Thinkific Start | $109 | $82 | 10,000 current students, 2 admins, 1 community, 200 GB/month video bandwidth | 0% with Thinkific Payments; extra gateway fee with Stripe or PayPal |
| Thinkific Grow | $219 | $164 | 6 admins, 3 communities, 400 GB/month; removes Thinkific branding | Same as Start |
| Thinkific Expand | $499 | $374 | 15 admins, 10 communities, 1,000 GB/month | Same as Start |
| Thinkific Plus | Custom | Custom | SSO, SCORM, HubSpot and Salesforce, custom roles | Custom |
A few details matter more than the headline numbers:
- Stan's email marketing sits on Creator Pro. Discount codes, upsells and order bumps, funnels, affiliate management, contact import, email broadcasts and flows, and ad pixels are all on the $99 plan. On Creator you collect emails but cannot send a sequence from Stan.
- Thinkific raised prices on August 13, 2026. Start went from $99 to $109 and Grow from $199 to $219, about 10%. The cheaper Basic plan no longer appears on the public pricing page.
- Thinkific's branded mobile app is an add-on. It costs $199 a month on top of your plan, or comes included on select Plus contracts.
- Thinkific shows its own branding on Start. Removing it requires Grow.
- Trials differ. Stan offers a 14-day free trial on either plan, and its help center says the first month is charged when the trial ends. Thinkific offers a 30-day free trial on every self-serve plan. Neither states whether a card is required.
Thinkific's pricing page showed euros to our fetcher (Start at €107 monthly), so the USD figures above come from Thinkific's own AI information page, which it marks as confirmed in October 2026. For a deeper breakdown, see our guides to Stan Store pricing and Thinkific pricing.

What does a coach actually pay each year?
The plan price is only part of the bill. Here is an illustrative example for a coach with 15 active clients who wants booking, a course, an email sequence and a signed agreement before the first session.
| Tool | Platform plan you would need | Still needed separately | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients | Nothing for booking, agreements, email, courses or check-ins | One subscription covers the list |
| Stan Store | Creator Pro, $99/month ($948/year billed annually) for email flows | An e-signature tool for contracts; a place to track client notes and progress | Plan cost plus two more tools |
| Thinkific | Start, $109/month ($984/year billed annually at $82) | A booking tool for 1:1 calls; an e-signature tool; a client tracking tool | Plan cost plus three more tools |
We have not added prices for the extra tools because they vary widely. Price your own picks and add them up before you compare. Our coaching software page lists what a typical coach stack contains.
Which is better for selling and booking coaching sessions?
Stan Store is better for booking paid calls, because calendar booking is part of its $29 Creator plan. Thinkific sells coaching and webinar products and runs live cohorts over Zoom, but its plans do not list a native 1:1 booking calendar, and our September 2026 profile found coaching on Thinkific relies on external booking links.
On Stan, a "book a call" product sits next to your ebook and your course on the same mobile storefront. A follower taps it, pays and picks a time. That flow is short and works well for discovery calls, single paid sessions and small call packages sold to people who already follow you.
What Stan does not do is manage the coaching relationship after the call is booked. It does not list contracts, invoices or client records. There is nowhere to keep session notes, track a client's goals or see who has gone quiet.
Thinkific approaches coaching from the course side. You can sell a coaching product, attach it to a course or a bundle, and run live cohort sessions with Zoom. Group size tops out at 50 on Start, 100 on Grow and unlimited on Expand. If you coach individuals on a weekly rhythm, you will most likely connect a separate scheduling tool and send clients there.
If 1:1 sessions are the center of your business, see our scheduling software for coaches page for what a coaching calendar should handle: availability rules, buffers, minimum notice, time-zone detection, reminders and paid session credits.
Which is better for courses and programs?
Thinkific is clearly the stronger course platform. It was built for teaching, with quizzes, certificates, live cohorts, bundles, memberships and, on Grow and above, exams and question banks. Stan Store's course builder is simpler and designed to sit inside a storefront.

On Thinkific Start you get unlimited courses, digital downloads, live cohorts, quizzes, certificates, bundles, upsells, payment plans and memberships, with up to 10,000 current students. Grow adds exams and question banks, engagement reports, an API and webhooks, and B2B sales and invoicing. Plus adds an AI teaching assistant, SCORM and learning paths. If you sell a certification program or train employees of other companies, these are real advantages and Stan has nothing comparable.
Stan's Creator plan includes an unlimited course builder, and many creators use it for a mini course or a recorded workshop sold alongside other products. It is fine for that. It is not a learning management system.
Neither platform delivers a coaching program in the sense most coaches mean it. A course is content a student moves through. A coaching program asks the client to do something each day or week: complete a task, log a habit, answer a check-in, reflect on a goal. Stan lists no programs with client tasks, habits or check-ins. Thinkific lists no client habits, daily check-ins or per-client plans. You can approximate a program with drip lessons and a community, but you will not see whether a particular client did the work this week.
If you want the course side covered by a coaching platform, read our page on the online course platform for coaches.
How do payments, checkout and fees compare?
Both platforms take 0% of your sales on their standard payment setup, so the difference is in processors and checkout options. Stan supports Stripe and PayPal, and Creator Pro adds Afterpay and Klarna. Thinkific prefers its own Thinkific Payments and charges an extra gateway fee if you use Stripe or PayPal directly.
Stan describes its model as "keep 100% of every sale." You pay the standard Stripe or PayPal processing fee and nothing else. Recurring subscriptions are on Creator. Discount codes, limited-quantity offers, upsells, order bumps and buy-now-pay-later options need Creator Pro.
Thinkific charges no transaction fee when you use Thinkific Payments, and describes that rate as in line with other processors at 2.9%. If you connect Stripe or PayPal as a third-party gateway instead, Thinkific adds a per-plan gateway fee. The amounts were not listed on its pricing page in October 2026, so ask before you set up checkout that way.
As an illustration, a coach collecting $3,000 a month at a 2.9% processing rate would pay about $87 a month in processing on either platform, before any fixed per-transaction charges. That cost exists on every platform that uses card payments. The platform fee is what changes, and here both are at zero on their default setup.
Neither platform lists coaching invoices for individual clients or a signed agreement attached to the purchase. Thinkific Grow's B2B invoicing is aimed at selling seats to organizations. If you need to invoice a private client, issue a payment plan for a 12-week package and keep the signed agreement in one place, see our coaching payment software guide.
Which has better marketing tools: email, funnels and Instagram?
Stan Store is built for social selling and wins on Instagram, while Thinkific leans on its course site and integrations. Stan's strongest marketing tools, though, sit on the $99 Creator Pro plan.
On Creator, Stan gives you a mobile and desktop storefront, lead magnets and email collection, analytics and AutoDM for Instagram. AutoDM lets a follower comment or message and receive your link automatically, which is the reason many creators pick Stan in the first place.
Creator Pro adds email broadcasts and flows, funnels of up to 20 products, upsells and order bumps, affiliate management, contact import, and Meta, Google, Pinterest and TikTok pixels. If you plan to nurture a list with sequences, budget for Creator Pro from the start.
Thinkific includes a custom domain on Start, along with bundles, upsells and payment plans. Grow adds an API and webhooks, which lets you connect outside tools. Plus adds HubSpot and Salesforce. For list building and sequences, most coaches on Thinkific use a separate email platform; check Thinkific's current documentation on email before you rely on it, because its plan list did not detail email marketing.

Community, memberships and group coaching: which wins?
Thinkific has the more structured community and cohort tools; Stan's community is a simpler add-on to the store. If group coaching is a large part of your income, Thinkific is the better of the two, though both stop short of program delivery.
Thinkific Start includes one community with up to 10 spaces and five live community events, plus live cohorts over Zoom. Grow raises that to three communities with 20 spaces, and Expand to 10 communities with 200 spaces. You can bundle community access with a course or sell a membership.
Stan's Creator plan lists a community and recurring subscriptions, so you can sell a paid membership from your storefront. It is a good fit for a creator who wants a members' space next to their products, less so for a coach running cohorts that need structure each week.
What both lack for group coaching is the program engine underneath: a weekly goal for the whole cohort, daily tasks, habits and check-ins that let you spot the member who has stopped showing up. Our group coaching software page explains what that looks like in practice.
What does the client experience feel like on each?
On Stan Store, the client experience is a purchase: they tap a link, pay and receive the product or booking. On Thinkific, it is a course school: they log in, move through lessons and join the community. On neither do they get a coaching home with their sessions, tasks, progress and notes in one place.
| Tool | Where the client goes | Between sessions | Mobile app |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | A branded client home with sessions, programs, progress and documents | Daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars, community, messages | The coach's branding inside the Coachful app |
| Stan Store | Your storefront, checkout, course pages and community | Course lessons and community posts | Mobile storefront for buyers |
| Thinkific | Your course site and community | Course lessons, quizzes, community, live cohort sessions | Branded app as a $199/month add-on |
For a creator selling to thousands of followers, Stan's speed is the whole point: fewer steps between a post and a sale. For a course creator, Thinkific's structured learning experience is what students pay for.
For a coach, the experience that keeps clients is different. A client in a 12-week program wants to open one place and see their next session, the task due before it, their habit streak and what their coach said last time. When that lives in a storefront, a course site, a calendar tool and an email thread, clients drift, and you only find out when they do not renew.

Can you leave Stan Store or Thinkific later?
You can take your customer list from both, but not your courses or community. As of our September 2026 profiles, Stan exports customers and contacts to CSV, and course and community content must be rebuilt elsewhere. Thinkific exports students and its email list to CSV, and course content is downloaded manually.
That matters more than it seems on day one. If you build 40 lessons and a year of community posts on either platform, moving means re-uploading every video and rewriting every page. Our guides to migrating from Stan Store and migrating from Thinkific walk through the steps.
Team access also differs. Thinkific includes 2 admins on Start, 6 on Grow and 15 on Expand. Stan does not advertise team seats. If you plan to bring on an associate coach or an assistant, factor that in now.
Which should you pick for your type of coaching?
Match the tool to how you earn. Here is how we would decide for the coaches we hear from most.
- New coach with an Instagram following and no offers yet: Stan Store Creator is a cheap way to sell a first lead magnet and a paid call. Plan to move once you have recurring clients. Our guide for new coaches covers what to set up first.
- Course creator selling a signature program to a large audience: Thinkific, especially if you need certificates, exams or cohort structure.
- Corporate trainer or coach selling seats to companies: Thinkific Grow for B2B invoicing, or Plus for SSO and SCORM.
- Life, mindset or confidence coach working with clients for 3 to 12 months: neither. You need agreements, sessions and between-session check-ins. See our pages for life coaches and mindset coaches.
- Health or fitness coach tracking habits, workouts or nutrition: neither has the tracking. See health coaches and fitness and nutrition coaching.
- Business or executive coach with a few high-ticket clients: neither manages contracts, invoices or client records. See business coaches.
If you are already on one of these platforms and feeling the limits, our lists of Stan Store alternatives and Thinkific alternatives for coaches rank the field in more detail.
The third option: when does Coachful beat both, and when does it not?
Coachful beats both when you coach real clients over time and want booking, payments, agreements, programs, courses, community, a website and email in one login. It does not beat them if you only sell digital products to followers, or if you run a course school for thousands of students that needs certificates, SCORM or SSO.

What Coachful is. Coachful is a coaching platform. One subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant. The coach has one login, and the client has one branded app. It is built for coaches who deliver programs rather than single sessions, solo coaches growing into a small team, and coaches replacing four to six tools. Current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients.
Where Coachful beats Stan Store
Stan sells the first session well. Coachful runs everything after it. Booking pages handle availability rules, buffers, minimum notice and time-zone detection, with two-way Google, Apple and Outlook calendar sync and built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet and Teams links. Coaching agreements with e-signature go out before the first call and are stored on the client record. Email reminders are included, plus SMS 24 hours before and WhatsApp one hour before once messaging is enabled.

Here is a short walkthrough of how scheduling works:
Coachful also matches Stan where Stan is strongest. Instagram automations can reply to a DM, a comment containing chosen keywords, a story reply or a mention by sending your booking link, lead magnet or checkout in a DM, and that person lands in the same lead and client records you use for coaching. A link-in-bio page sells directly. Email lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences with triggers, delays, branching and A/B splits are included in your Coachful membership, as are order bumps, coupons and payment plans.

Where Coachful beats Thinkific
Thinkific teaches. Coachful teaches and coaches. Coachful courses have modules, lessons, drip and completion tracking, and there are 48 course templates with quizzes to start from. The difference is what surrounds the course: multi-week programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks.

Every client record holds their goals, check-ins, habits, notes, intake answers, payments and sessions, with a status of thriving, active, quiet or at risk. You see who needs attention before they stop paying. Cohort groups are created automatically when someone enrolls in a program, and the community includes a feed, group chat, direct messages and video events.

Watch how a program is built and delivered:
Michelle, the built-in AI assistant, works from your live practice data. It builds programs, drafts emails and content, summarizes recorded sessions and briefs you before each session. Questions and planning are included in your membership; confirmed builds and changes use AI credits. If you hold or are working toward an ICF credential, Coachful counts your coaching hours and distinct clients against ACC, PCC and MCC thresholds and exports an ICF client coaching log. See the AI coaching assistant and ICF hour tracking.

Where Coachful does not beat them
Be honest with yourself about these, because they are real:
- No PayPal. Coachful takes payments through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account, with Apple Pay and Google Pay. Stan and Thinkific both support PayPal, and Stan Creator Pro adds Afterpay and Klarna.
- Not a course marketplace or a large LMS. If you need SCORM, SSO, exams with question banks or certificates for thousands of learners, Thinkific is the better tool.
- No HubSpot or Salesforce integration, which Thinkific Plus offers. Coachful connects through Zapier instead.
- The client app is not in your own App Store account. Clients use the Coachful app with your branding.
- Affiliate payouts are manual. Coachful tracks affiliate links, clicks, conversions and revenue, but you record payouts yourself. Stan Creator Pro includes affiliate management.
- Not HIPAA-certified. Clinical records and insurance billing belong in a clinical system.
- No permanent free plan. There is a free trial.
How Coachful handles the setup
Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. From Create, choose "We'll build it for you · FREE," describe what you want, and attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files such as your logo, photos, brand guide or existing copy. The Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. That can be a website, a funnel, a sales page, a program, a course outline and written material, an email sequence, a link in bio, a lead quiz or an automation. Nothing gets invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing.

A few recent builds, anonymized. A somatic coach leaving Kajabi had the homepage and About page rebuilt and the contact form connected. A business mentor for beauty professionals got a 12-week mentorship sales page, a free start-up-guide funnel and rewritten follow-up emails. A real-estate and money coach got a year-long cohort program with an application form, an eight-page site and a free nine-day bootcamp funnel. More detail is in our post on the free white-glove service.
Clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding, and you can export full client data as a ZIP (roster, notes, check-ins, goals, habits, sessions and form responses) plus course exports whenever you like. Payments carry a 0% Coachful platform fee; you pay only Stripe or Razorpay processing.
How to start: begin a free trial, then send your first white-glove request so your site or first program is ready while you explore. If you are coming from Thinkific specifically, our Thinkific alternative page covers the switch.

Frequently asked questions
Is Stan Store or Thinkific cheaper for coaches?
Stan Store is cheaper. Its Creator plan is $29 a month and Creator Pro is $99, while Thinkific starts at $109 a month for Start, as listed in October 2026. Add the cost of any tools you need on top, such as booking on Thinkific or contracts on both, before you compare.
Does Thinkific have built-in 1:1 scheduling?
Thinkific sells coaching and webinar products and runs live cohorts with Zoom, but its plans do not list a native 1:1 booking calendar. Our September 2026 profile found coaches on Thinkific rely on external booking links for individual sessions.
Can I sell courses on Stan Store?
Yes. Stan's Creator plan includes an unlimited course builder, a community and recurring subscriptions. It suits mini courses and recorded workshops sold from your storefront; for quizzes, certificates and cohorts, Thinkific is the stronger course tool.
Do Stan Store or Thinkific take a cut of my sales?
Neither takes a platform fee on its standard payment setup. Stan charges 0% and you pay Stripe or PayPal processing. Thinkific charges 0% with Thinkific Payments but adds a gateway fee if you connect Stripe or PayPal directly.
Which has better email marketing?
Stan Store Creator Pro includes email broadcasts and flows, but the $29 Creator plan only collects emails. Thinkific's plan list does not detail email marketing, and many course creators pair it with a separate email tool.
Can I track client habits or check-ins on either platform?
No. Stan lists no programs with client tasks, habits or check-ins, and Thinkific lists no client habits, daily check-ins or per-client plans. If between-session accountability is part of your coaching, you need a coaching platform with a program engine.
Can I move my content from Stan Store or Thinkific later?
You can export your customer or student list to CSV from both. Course and community content does not move automatically; on Stan it must be rebuilt, and on Thinkific course content is downloaded manually.
What is Coachful's free white-glove service?
It is a done-for-you build included on every Coachful plan. You describe a website, funnel, program, course outline, email sequence or other asset, attach references, and the team builds it inside your account, usually within about 24 hours. It does not include recording videos, logo design or ad management.
Is Coachful a good fit if I only sell digital products?
Probably not as your first tool. If you sell downloads and mini courses to followers and do not work with clients over time, Stan Store is simpler. Coachful earns its place once you run sessions, programs or groups.
Does Coachful support PayPal?
No. Coachful uses your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account and supports Apple Pay and Google Pay. If PayPal is essential to your buyers, Stan Store and Thinkific both support it.
