ManyChat Free Trial (2026): Length, Card Rules and Real Costs

ManyChat Free Trial (2026): Length, Card Rules and Real Costs

The ManyChat free trial lasts 14 days and covers two plans only, Essential and Pro, as listed in October 2026. Paid plans need a card, while the separate Free plan does not. Stay on after the trial and you pay from $17 a month on Essential or $39 a month on Pro, or $14 and $29 a month on annual billing, plus per-contact charges once you pass your plan's allowance. Business ($99) and Advanced ($199) have no trial at all.

That is the short answer. The rest of this guide covers what ManyChat publishes about the end of the trial, what it leaves unsaid, how to run the 14 days as a coach, and what the bill looks like at three practice sizes. We make Coachful, a coaching platform that also includes Instagram DM automations, so read our recommendation with that in mind. ManyChat prices below come from its official pricing data as captured on 9 October 2026, because its live pricing and help pages blocked our automated checks later that month. Confirm the figures at checkout, since a later change can't be ruled out.

How long is the ManyChat free trial, and which plans get it?

The trial is 14 days, on Essential or Pro. ManyChat's pricing FAQ says you can "test-drive Essential or Pro free for 14 days", and those two plans carry a "Try 14 days for free" button, while Business and Advanced do not offer a trial.

ManyChat plan14-day trial?Card needed?Price after (monthly / annual billing)
FreeNot a trial: no end date listedNo$0
EssentialYesPaid plans require one$17 / $14 a month
ProYesPaid plans require one$39 / $29 a month
BusinessNoYes$99 / $69 a month
AdvancedNoYes$199 / $139 a month

The practical choice is between the two trials. Essential is the one to test if you mainly want comment-to-DM funnels that collect an email address. Pro is the one to test if you want ManyChat's AI replies or a connection to your email tool, because most CRM and email integrations start there. Starting on Pro shows you more, but it also makes it harder to tell whether the cheaper plan would have been enough, so write down which Pro features you actually touch.

Do you need a credit card for the ManyChat free trial?

Expect to enter one. ManyChat's FAQ answers the card question by saying "The Free plan doesn't require a credit card" and "Paid plans do require one", and it accepts most major cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.

The FAQ does not address the trial by name in that answer. Because the trial is a trial of a paid plan and it starts from a signup link carrying the paid plan's name, the safe assumption is that a card goes in at the start. If you don't want to give card details at all, the route ManyChat confirms is the Free plan, which you can use to build a first automation and see how the builder feels.

What happens when the ManyChat trial ends?

ManyChat's pricing page does not spell this out. Its one line on leaving is "If it doesn't slap, cancel", which tells you cancelling is your job, but we could not find a published statement on the exact billing moment, a reminder email, or what happens to your extra automations afterwards.

Answer a few questions and Coachful builds it around you: your website, programs, booking and payments. Ready in minutes.

Build your platform

Here is what we would plan around, separating what is documented from what is our advice:

  • Documented: a card is required for paid plans, the plans carry the prices in the table above, and you can cancel a plan within 30 days of buying it for a refund.
  • Documented: a downgrade on a monthly plan takes effect at your next billing period, and annual plans cannot be downgraded until the annual term ends.
  • Documented: the Free plan allows 25 Active Contacts a month, up to 4 live automations, and no email or phone collection, follow-status checks, AI or integrations.
  • Not published on the pages we could read: the hour billing begins, whether a reminder is sent, how many contacts the trial allows, and whether your automations past the fourth are paused or removed if you drop to Free.
  • Our advice: treat day 14 as a billing date unless you have cancelled, and put a calendar reminder on day 12. The checkout screen and ManyChat support can confirm the rest before you start.

One detail is worth catching before you press the button. Our capture of the pricing page has the Annual tab selected, and the trial button passes the selected billing period into signup. If you want the option of a single month rather than a year, switch the toggle to Monthly first. It matters because of the downgrade rule above: annual buyers are committed to their plan level until the term ends.

What does ManyChat cost after the trial?

ManyChat has five plans, priced by monthly Active Contacts, meaning each person you interact with that month counts once. All prices are in US dollars as listed in October 2026, exclude tax, and depend on your billing country.

What does each ManyChat plan add?

Each step up adds one meaningful capability for a coach: Essential adds lead capture, Pro adds AI and integrations, and Business adds a shared team inbox. Advanced mostly adds capacity.

Free

The Free plan already includes comment-to-DM with a public reply, keyword triggers, story reply and mention replies, follow-to-DM welcomes, Live-to-DM, conversation starters, link, PDF and image sending, referral links and QR codes, more than 60 templates, and a unified Inbox. The catches are 4 live automations, 25 contacts, and "Powered by Manychat" text the first time you message a contact.

Essential

Essential removes the branding and the automation limit. It adds data collection (emails, phone numbers and text answers inside DMs), a follower status check that can prompt someone to follow you, tags, conditions, A/B randomizers, DMs from Meta ads and boosted posts, a Google Sheets integration, Inbox reminders and scheduled replies, and email support.

Pro

Pro includes Manychat AI: replies to DMs and FAQs from your saved business knowledge, AI comment replies, AI goals, a lead qualification step and intent recognition. It also adds broadcasts (not on Instagram or TikTok), WhatsApp template messages, and integrations with Zapier, Make, the API, HubSpot, Klaviyo, Flodesk, Mailchimp, Kit, ActiveCampaign, Stripe, PayPal and others.

Business and Advanced

Business adds a shared team Inbox with conversation assignment and priority support. Advanced keeps the same features with ManyChat's fastest priority email support and a much larger contact allowance. Few solo coaches need either unless their DM volume is very high, as the math below shows.

Which fees sit on top of the plan price?

The main extra is overage on Active Contacts, followed by Inbox seats and WhatsApp messages. ManyChat's pricing page states no transaction fee of its own, though any processor you connect charges its own fees.

CostWhat ManyChat lists (October 2026)Who it affects
Extra Active ContactsPer-contact rates by plan (see table above). Automations keep running and you are charged, unless you set an overage thresholdAnyone whose post gets more comments than expected

What will a coach actually pay at three sizes?

ManyChat alone runs roughly $14 to $64 a month for most solo coaches, but it only covers the DM part of the job. The examples below are illustrations we made using the listed rates, and they compare two different units: ManyChat counts people messaged in a month, while lower Coachful plans cap the number of clients.

StackStarting coach: 5 clients, 200 DM contacts a monthGrowing coach: 15 clients, 1,000 DM contacts a monthEstablished coach: 40 clients, 3,000 DM contacts a month
CoachfulLite: $29/month for up to 5 clientsSolo: $49/month for up to 20 clientsPro: $99/month with unlimited clients
ManyChat alone, monthly billingEssential: $17Pro: $39Pro plus 500 extra contacts: $39 + $25 = $64
ManyChat alone, annual billingEssential: $14Pro: $29Pro plus 500 extra contacts: $29 + $19 = $48
Still needed beside ManyChatBooking, payments, contracts, client records, program deliveryThe same, plus email and coursesThe same, plus community, a website and team access

We haven't priced the last row, because it depends on what you already pay for. Add up your real bills for those tools and put the total next to the ManyChat figure before comparing. Our guide to coaching software sets out what those jobs involve.

Three break-even points are useful, worked out from the same listed rates:

  • Essential to Pro: at about 470 contacts a month on monthly billing, or about 433 on annual, Essential plus overage costs as much as Pro. Past that, Pro is cheaper and gives you more.
  • Pro to Business: at about 3,700 contacts a month on monthly billing, or about 3,553 on annual.
  • Business to Advanced: at about 11,500 contacts a month on monthly billing, or about 11,389 on annual.

Then check the spike case. As an example, a post that pulls 3,000 people into your DMs in one month on Essential, monthly billing, costs $17 plus 2,750 extra contacts at $0.10, or $292. On Pro the same month costs $64. That gap is the reason to set an overage threshold during the trial, before a post takes off.

How should a coach use the 14 days?

Use them to answer one question: does a keyword DM funnel bring you booked calls at a contact cost you can live with? This schedule is our suggestion and assumes you already post on Instagram.

  1. Before you start: switch Instagram to a professional account, which ManyChat's help center requires (Creator up to 500k followers, Business above). Pick Monthly on the pricing page. Plan one post worth commenting on.
  2. Days 1 and 2: connect your channels and build one comment-to-DM automation with a keyword that delivers your lead magnet or booking link.
  3. Days 3 to 5: add email collection and tag whoever replies. Set the overage threshold now, and write down the plan's allowance.
  4. Days 6 to 10: publish the post and answer conversations in the Inbox. If you chose Pro, load your business knowledge and read every AI reply before relying on it.
  5. Days 11 and 12: count Active Contacts, booked calls and paying clients. Double the 14-day contact count for a rough monthly estimate, then find the plan using the break-even points above.
  6. Day 12: decide. Cancel, move to Free or stay, and save any contact data you want to keep.

Export is the part to rehearse in the trial. ManyChat's help center documents no one-click full contact CSV. Data Collection block responses export as CSV, but exporting all contacts means pushing fields and tags to Google Sheets with an automation sent as a broadcast (limited to 250 Sheets requests per 100 seconds), or using the API. Broadcasts sit on Pro and above and exclude Instagram and TikTok, so ask ManyChat how this works on your plan and channel. Testing the Google Sheets route on day 12 shows you what leaving would involve.

What gotchas should you watch for?

The biggest are variable billing and the annual lock-in, followed by features that sit a plan higher than you'd expect. None is hidden in the strict sense, but all are easy to miss on the first read of the pricing page.

  • Your bill follows your reach. Anyone you message counts for the month, so a viral post can raise costs at exactly the moment you are busiest.
  • The page we captured defaults to Annual. The lower headline prices are annual prices, billed as one payment.
  • Annual plans can't be downgraded mid-term. Monthly plans can switch to annual at any time, with the unused amount credited, so starting monthly keeps your options open.
  • Upgrades restart the clock. A new billing period starts immediately when you upgrade, and you pay for the new plan at that point.
  • AI is not on Essential. If AI replies are why you're looking at ManyChat, trial Pro and budget for Pro, because dropping to Essential afterwards removes them.
  • Instagram and TikTok broadcasts aren't offered. Pro's broadcasts exclude both, so you can't message your whole Instagram contact list that way.
  • Older accounts may differ. Third-party reviews say the five-plan structure began on 2 March 2026 and that some older accounts remain on legacy pricing (Pro from $15 a month for 500 contacts, plus a $29 AI add-on). We could not verify that on an official page.
  • Public ratings are low. Trustpilot showed 2.1 from 309 reviews when we checked in October 2026. Read recent ones on billing and support before you commit to a year.

What does ManyChat do well, and where do coaches outgrow it?

ManyChat is a strong tool for getting people from a comment or story into a DM conversation. It reaches more channels than most DM tools, including Instagram, Facebook Messenger, TikTok, Telegram, WhatsApp, SMS and email. It can collect email addresses inside a DM, check whether someone follows you, and answer from your saved knowledge on Pro. Coachful does not match all of that, and we cover the gaps below.

Coaches tend to outgrow it after the lead arrives. ManyChat has no booking calendar, client records, programs, courses or session notes, and its Stripe and PayPal integrations only send payments through chat. So a lead who says yes has to move into your scheduling tool, then your payment tool, contract tool and program tool, with a separate login for each.

Which one looks like you?

Coachful builds your coaching website from a few answers, in a design chosen for your niche, with programs, booking and payments ready behind it.

Build your platform

Is the ManyChat free trial worth starting, by coach type?

It's worth starting if Instagram or TikTok DMs are already a real source of leads for you and you already have the rest of your stack in place. It's a poor first purchase if you still have no booking page or way to take payment.

  • Brand-new coach with a small audience: skip the trial clock for now. Try the Free plan, or read what is actually free in coaching software, and get your offer and booking in place first (Coachful for new coaches covers that setup).
  • Content-led coach with regular comments: trial Essential. Comment-to-DM with email capture is where ManyChat is strongest, and the 14 days will show your contact volume.
  • Coach running paid ads to DMs: trial Pro if you want AI lead qualification or CRM sync. Essential already supports DMs from Meta ads, so don't step up for that reason alone.
  • Coach delivering programs to clients: ManyChat won't do the delivery. Start from a platform that handles delivery, and add a DM tool only if its built-in automations fall short.
  • Health and fitness coach: DMs suit marketing, not client health information. Coaching is not treatment, so refer clients with medical concerns to a qualified clinician, and keep clinical records in a clinical system. Coachful is not HIPAA-certified. See Coachful for health coaches and the Fitness & Nutrition pack.
  • Team with setters: Business's shared Inbox is built for this, but there is no trial on it. Trial Pro first, then count seat costs at $25 each.

How does Coachful compare once the trial ends?

Coachful is our recommendation for coaches who want the DM to lead straight into booking, payment and delivery under one login. One subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant, with one login for the coach and one branded app for the client. It's built for coaches who deliver programs rather than single sessions, solo coaches growing into a small team, and coaches replacing 4 to 6 tools (current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients).

Its Instagram automations are included in your Coachful membership. You connect an Instagram professional account, then trigger on a DM, a comment on a post (optionally only when it contains chosen keywords), a story reply, a mention, or a new follower where Meta supports it. The actions are sending a DM, replying publicly to the comment, sending a DM with buttons or quick replies, or sending an AI-written reply (1 AI credit per reply). A typical use is that someone comments a keyword, gets your booking link, lead magnet or checkout in a DM, and lands in the same Coachful lead and client records.

Coachful Automations screen with app automation, reminder and Instagram automation choices
The demo Automations screen in Coachful shows app automation, reminder and Instagram automation choices; none are active in this example.

Here is where ManyChat is the stronger DM tool. Coachful does not automate WhatsApp, Messenger, TikTok or SMS DMs, has no follow-gate, and does not capture email inside the DM. If those are central to your funnel, Coachful's DM side won't replace ManyChat, and the fair question is whether you need them or just need the link delivered. A checkout or lead form on your Coachful funnel can do the capturing once the person clicks.

This walkthrough shows how leads are handled in the Prospects area:

Coachful's demo Prospects page lists leads with their source and stage.

What happens after the DM is where the two products differ most. Booking pages include availability rules, buffers, time-zone detection and two-way Google, Apple and Outlook calendar sync. Payments run through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account with a 0% Coachful platform fee, so you pay only the processor's charges. Coaching agreements with e-signature go out before the first call and stay on the client record, and the client record holds goals, check-ins, habits, notes, payments and sessions.

Between sessions, multi-week programs deliver weekly goals, daily tasks, habits and morning and evening check-ins inside the client's branded home and app. Michelle, the built-in AI assistant, works from your live practice data, drafts emails and content, summarizes recorded sessions and briefs you before sessions. Questions and planning are included in the membership, while confirmed builds and changes use AI credits.

Coachful has limits too. It is not HIPAA-certified, has no PayPal and no permanent free plan, and its client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding rather than under your own App Store account. It has no Salesforce or HubSpot integration, and no multi-stage sales deal board for large teams. Trustpilot showed 4.5 from 21 reviews, a small sample worth weighing as such.

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. From Create, under "We'll build it for you", you describe what you want, such as a website, funnel, offer page, program, email sequence, link in bio or automation, and attach up to 8 reference links and 10 files. The Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. Nothing gets invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. It doesn't include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. A leadership coach with a Squarespace renewal days away, for example, got one clean homepage with a repeated "talk with me" button. Here is what the service builds.

How does the ManyChat trial compare with the alternatives?

ManyChat's 14 days matches Inrō and GoHighLevel on length, but the terms differ on the points that matter: what happens at the end, how much the free route allows, and how much of your practice the tool runs. LinkDM and Metricool rely on free plans instead. Figures are as listed in October 2026, and our ManyChat alternatives ranking covers these tools at more depth.

The two closest substitutes on the DM job are worth a look if ManyChat's contact billing is the thing putting you off. LinkDM counts DMs rather than contacts: its Free plan covers one Instagram account and up to 1,000 DMs a month with LinkDM branding, and its Lead Gen forms on Pro collect email and phone inside DMs. We compare the two in LinkDM vs ManyChat.

Inrō has the clearest published trial ending: after 14 days you subscribe or move to Free automatically. Its Free plan gives you 100 activated contacts a month, 3 active automations and 50 AI Agent credits, and it has a page aimed at coaches and experts. Prices are in euros and scale by contact band.

Metricool is a different kind of tool, mainly a social planner and analytics suite whose paid plans add comment-to-DM through Flows. Pick it if scheduling is your main need and DM automation is secondary.

GoHighLevel suits coaches who run marketing like an agency and are happy to build workflows. Its 14-day trial covers any plan, but usage-based telecom and third-party fees can apply during the trial, and the pricing page does not state whether a card is required. How can you save money on ManyChat?

Start on monthly billing, match your plan to your real contact count, and move to annual only once your volume has settled. Annual billing saves $36 a year on Essential, $120 on Pro, $360 on Business and $720 on Advanced against paying monthly at the listed rates.

  • Use Free as a test bench. Build your first automations there before the 14-day clock starts, so the trial goes on real traffic rather than on learning the builder.
  • Time the trial to a launch. Starting the day you publish your best keyword post gives you real contact numbers inside the window.
  • Set an overage threshold on day one. ManyChat lets you control whether overages are allowed and how many extra contacts you'll pay for.
  • Move from Essential to Pro at the break-even. Past about 470 contacts a month on monthly billing, overage on Essential costs more than the upgrade.
  • Use channels you already use. Avoid WhatsApp template messages until you've priced them, since they draw on a separate prepaid wallet.
  • Count Inbox seats before adding a person. Pro includes 2 seats, and each extra seat is $25.
  • Know the refund window. You can cancel within 30 days of buying a plan for a refund. Check the terms that apply to your purchase before relying on it.

The larger saving is often on the other side of the ledger. If you pay for separate booking, payment, contract, email and course tools beside your DM tool, the combined bill is what to compare, not the DM plan alone. Include the setup hours too, since those are where a done-for-you build can matter more than a small monthly difference.

Frequently asked questions about the ManyChat free trial

How long is the ManyChat free trial?

It is 14 days, as listed in October 2026. It applies to the Essential and Pro plans. Business and Advanced have no trial, and the Free plan is a separate, ongoing plan rather than a trial.

Does the ManyChat free trial require a credit card?

ManyChat says paid plans require a card and the Free plan doesn't, so expect to enter one to trial Essential or Pro. Its FAQ doesn't address the trial by name in that answer. If you won't give card details, use the Free plan.

Will ManyChat charge me when the trial ends?

We could not find a published statement on the exact billing moment, so treat day 14 as a billing date unless you have cancelled. ManyChat's advice is simply to cancel if it isn't for you. Set a reminder for day 12 and confirm the details at checkout.

Can I get a refund after the trial?

ManyChat states you can cancel within 30 days of buying a plan for a refund. Check that this applies to your purchase before relying on it. Annual plans also can't be downgraded until the term ends, so the refund window is the time to act.

What is the difference between the ManyChat Free plan and the free trial?

The Free plan is $0 with 25 Active Contacts a month, up to 4 live automations and ManyChat branding, and it needs no card. The trial gives you Essential or Pro features for 14 days, including data collection, and on Pro, AI and integrations. The Free plan suits learning the builder, while the trial suits testing a live funnel.

Which ManyChat plan should a coach trial?

Trial Essential if you want comment-to-DM funnels that collect emails and you expect fewer than about 470 contacts a month. Trial Pro if you want AI replies, integrations with tools like Kit or Flodesk, or WhatsApp. Pro is also the cheaper plan once your volume passes that point.

Does ManyChat include AI during the trial?

Manychat AI is part of Pro, Business and Advanced on current plans, so an Essential trial won't include it. Trial Pro to test AI replies and comment replies. Read each reply before you rely on it, especially when clients ask about your services.

Can ManyChat replace my coaching software?

No. ManyChat has no booking calendar, client records, programs, courses or session notes, so it does one job in a coaching business. It works alongside coaching software rather than replacing it, and you will need to pay for the rest separately.

Does Coachful do Instagram DM automation like ManyChat?

Yes for Instagram: comment keywords, DMs, story replies and mentions can trigger a DM, a public reply, buttons or an AI-written reply. It does not cover WhatsApp, Messenger, TikTok or SMS, and it has no follow-gate or email capture inside the DM. The difference is that the lead lands in the same records as your booking, payments and programs.

What is Coachful's free white-glove service?

The Coachful team builds what you describe, such as a website, funnel, program or email sequence, inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. It's available on every plan and uses your real material, with gaps left for you rather than invented credentials or testimonials. It doesn't include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. See what it covers.
