Coaches Console vs Paperbell: Which Should Coaches Pick?

Coaches console vs paperbell comes down to one question: do you want a large, older business system with a website, email marketing and a course area, or a simple, cheaper admin tool that books sessions, takes payment and sends contracts? Coaches Console lists two plans at $197 and $297 a month, with no free trial. Paperbell lists one plan at $97 a month with unlimited clients. For most solo coaches who mainly sell 1:1 packages, Paperbell is the easier and cheaper pick of the two. Coaches Console makes more sense if you want your website, email list and courses under the same roof and you are comfortable with an interface reviewers call dated.
There is also a third option. We make Coachful, a coaching platform that covers booking, payments, contracts, programs with habits and check-ins, courses, community, a website with funnels and email in one login. This article compares Coaches Console and Paperbell fairly first, using what each vendor documents as listed in October 2026 and what public reviewers report, then shows where Coachful beats both and where it does not.
What is the short answer for each kind of coach?
If you sell 1:1 coaching packages and want the least setup, Paperbell is the better of the two. If you want an all-in-one business system with a website, autoresponders and courses and can afford it, Coaches Console fits better. If you deliver multi-week programs and want clients doing work between sessions, neither is built for that, and Coachful is the stronger choice.
- New coach, first paying clients: Paperbell. One price, unlimited clients, a simple booking and checkout flow. Coaches Console's $197 entry price is a lot to carry before you have revenue.
- Established coach who wants email marketing and a site together: Coaches Console, on paper. It lists email marketing and autoresponders, a public website and a private client website on its Core plan.
- Coach selling courses or digital products: Coaches Console Total ($297 a month) lists a shopping cart, course delivery and enrollment reports. Paperbell now lists online classes and digital downloads, but earlier profiles found no full course builder.
- Coach running programs, cohorts or habit-based work: Coachful. Neither Coaches Console nor Paperbell documents habit tracking, daily check-ins or a client app with goals and streaks.
- Coach growing into a small team: Coachful's team plans add coach seats. Coaches Console describes a single coach account on Core, and Paperbell is priced per coach.
If you are leaning away from both, our roundups of Coaches Console alternatives and Paperbell alternatives cover the wider field.
How do Coaches Console and Paperbell compare side by side?
Paperbell is a focused admin tool for solo coaches; Coaches Console is a broader business system with marketing built in. The table below adds Coachful for reference.
Criteria for this comparison: one login for the whole client journey, delivery between sessions, total monthly stack cost, and how much setup you must do yourself.
| Tool | Best for | Entry price | Clients | Free trial | Between-session delivery | Setup help |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Coaches who run programs and want one platform for booking, delivery, courses, community and marketing | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients | Lower plans cap clients; Pro is unlimited | Yes, a free trial | Habits, daily check-ins, goals, streaks, courses, community, branded client app | Free white-glove build of your site, funnel or program |
| Paperbell | Solo coaches selling 1:1 packages | $97/month or $970/year | Unlimited | "Try For Free" (7 days per its help center earlier in 2026) | Client portal, files, forms, online classes; no goal or habit tracking reported | Do it yourself |
| Coaches Console | Coaches who want CRM, website, email and courses in one older system | $197/month or $1,997/year | Not specified | No; 30-day money-back guarantee | Private client website; course delivery and participant tracking on Total | Do it yourself |
Coaches Console in brief
Coaches Console is a long-standing business system for coaches. Its pricing page lists a CRM, calendar, public website, private client website or portal, email marketing and autoresponders, invoicing and agreements, client data and reporting. The higher Total plan adds a shopping cart, products and sales reports, course and content delivery, enrollment reports and participant activity tracking.

The trade-offs are price and age. It has the highest entry price among the coaching admin tools we track, there is no free trial, and reviewers in older public profiles described the interface as dated. Capterra showed 4.6 from 14 reviews as of September 2026; it has no Trustpilot page.
Paperbell in brief
Paperbell is an all-in-one admin tool for solo coaches. One plan includes a coaching website, scheduling, payments and packages, a client portal, contracts, email workflows, forms, group coaching, video call integration, notes, digital downloads, online classes and custom branding. It markets itself on simplicity: "no upsells or hidden add-ons".

The limits show up once you deliver more than sessions. Earlier public profiles found no full course builder, no community and no goal or habit tracking, and no native mobile app (clients use a mobile browser). On Trustpilot, Paperbell showed 3.5 from 14 reviews as of October 2026.
How much do Coaches Console and Paperbell cost?
Paperbell costs $97 a month or $970 a year. Coaches Console costs $197 a month on Core or $297 a month on Total, or $1,997 and $2,997 a year. Over a year, Paperbell is about $1,027 cheaper than Coaches Console Core paid annually, and about $2,027 cheaper than Total.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Client limit | Trial or guarantee | Platform fee on client payments |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients | Flat monthly plans; cancel monthly plans in one click | Capped on lower plans; unlimited on Pro (Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients) | A free trial | 0% (Stripe or Razorpay processing only) |
| Paperbell (single plan) | $97 | $970 (about $80.83/month) | Unlimited clients, sessions, files, packages | Free trial plus 30-day money-back guarantee | "No additional transaction fees"; Stripe or PayPal fees apply |
| Coaches Console Core | $197 | $1,997 (about $166.42/month) | Single coach; client limits not specified | No trial; 30-day money-back guarantee | Not stated; no setup fees |
| Coaches Console Total | $297 | $2,997 (about $249.75/month) | Unlimited products and courses | No trial; 30-day money-back guarantee | Not stated; no setup fees |
Prices are as listed in October 2026. Coaches Console labels its annual price a "15% Discount!"; the per-month annual figures above are derived from the yearly totals. Paperbell shows its $970 annual price against $1,164, marketed as two months free.

What does the real yearly stack cost look like?
Subscription price is only part of the bill. Here is an illustrative example for a coach with 15 clients who sells 1:1 packages, runs a small email list and wants a short course.
- Paperbell: $970 a year covers booking, payments, contracts and a simple site. If you want a proper email marketing tool or a full course platform, you add those separately, so budget for at least one or two extra subscriptions.
- Coaches Console Core: $1,997 a year covers CRM, site, email and invoicing. Courses need Total, which takes the bill to $2,997 a year.
- Coachful: booking, payments, contracts, programs, courses, community, website, funnels and email are all included in your Coachful membership. For 15 clients, the cheapest plan that fits is here: Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients.
Payment processing is charged by Stripe, PayPal or your processor in every case. Paperbell and Coachful both say they take no platform cut on top. Coaches Console does not state its position on its pricing page.
Which one handles booking and scheduling better?
Paperbell's booking is the more focused of the two: clients pick a package, pay and book in one flow. Coaches Console includes a calendar inside its wider CRM, which works but is less central to the product.
Paperbell's model revolves around packages. You create a package (a single session, a bundle, a subscription), and the client buys it and books from the same page. Video call integration is included. This is the main reason solo coaches choose it, and public reviewers generally describe the setup as quick.
Coaches Console lists a calendar as part of its Core system, tied into its CRM and client records. Because its pricing page does not map individual features to plans in detail, check the specifics you need (buffers, minimum notice, time zones, calendar sync) during the 30-day guarantee window.
For comparison, Coachful's booking pages include availability rules, buffers, minimum notice and time-zone detection; two-way Google, Apple/iCloud and Outlook calendar sync; built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet or Teams links; email reminders plus SMS and WhatsApp reminders once messaging is enabled; paid sessions, session credits and intake questions on booking. More detail is on our scheduling software page.

How do payments, invoices and contracts compare?
Both tools take payments and send agreements. Paperbell bundles payment into the package checkout with contracts attached; Coaches Console handles invoicing and agreements inside its CRM.
Paperbell supports Stripe and PayPal according to earlier public profiles, and says it adds no transaction fees. Contracts can be attached to packages so clients sign at checkout. This is simple and covers what most 1:1 coaches need.
Coaches Console lists invoicing and agreements on Core and a shopping cart with products and sales reports on Total. An older profile listed PayPal, Stripe and Authorize.net as processors; the current pricing page does not say. If Authorize.net matters to you, it is one of the few places Coaches Console may suit you better than Paperbell.
Coachful runs payments through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account: one-time payments, subscriptions, payment plans, order bumps, coupons, refunds, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and Stripe Tax, with an invoice per transaction and manual invoices. There is a 0% Coachful platform fee. Coaching agreements with e-signature go out before the first call and are stored on the client record. Coachful does not support PayPal, so if your clients insist on PayPal, Paperbell or Coaches Console fit better there. See coaching payment software and coaching contracts for details.

Which is better for courses, programs and group coaching?
Coaches Console Total is the stronger of the two for courses, with course and content delivery, enrollment reports and participant activity tracking. Paperbell lists online classes, digital downloads and group coaching, but it is built around sessions rather than structured programs.
Paperbell's group coaching lets several clients buy and attend the same offer. Its pricing page now includes online classes and digital downloads, which is a step forward. Earlier public profiles, though, found no full course builder with modules and drip, no community feed and no way to track goals or habits.
Coaches Console only adds courses on Total, at $297 a month. That makes it an expensive way to get course delivery, but the features are listed: unlimited products and courses, enrollment reports and participant tracking, plus a bonus course.
Neither tool documents what program-based coaches need most between sessions: weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins and streaks. This is where Coachful is built differently. Its multi-week programs include all of those, plus courses with modules, lessons, drip and completion tracking, and cohort groups created automatically when a client enrolls. Read more on group coaching software and the online course platform for coaches.

How do the websites and email marketing compare?
Coaches Console is the more complete marketing system of the two, with a public website, email marketing and autoresponders on Core. Paperbell includes a coaching website and email workflows, but both are simpler and aimed at getting clients booked.
Paperbell's site is a clean coaching page with your packages and booking. Its email workflows handle client communication around purchases and sessions. For many new coaches this is enough. If you plan to grow an email list with newsletters and multi-step nurture sequences, most coaches add a separate email tool.
Coaches Console lists email marketing and autoresponders alongside its public website, which lets you run a list and a site without another subscription. Older public reviews describe the design options and interface as dated, so look at live customer sites before committing.
Coachful includes a section-based website builder with blog, custom domain, SEO settings and 30 designed homepage templates; booking, application, lead-magnet and checkout funnels with pixels and UTM tracking; a link-in-bio page; and email lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences with triggers, delays, branching and A/B splits. See the coach website builder and email marketing for coaches.

What do clients experience in each tool?
Paperbell gives clients a simple portal in the browser to buy, book, sign and see files. Coaches Console gives them a private client website. Neither offers a native client app with daily goals and habits, according to the profiles we checked.
A client's experience in Paperbell is short and tidy: they land on your page, choose a package, pay, sign the contract and book. Later, they log into the portal to see sessions and files. There is no native mobile app, so on a phone they use the browser. For a 1:1 coach this is often fine; the coaching happens on calls.
Coaches Console's private client website holds materials and information for each client, and on Total it delivers course content with participant tracking. Because reviewers have called the interface dated, it is worth asking for a client-side demo during your guarantee period.
In Coachful, the client gets your branding inside the Coachful app: their next session, pre-session worksheets, programs, goals with progress bars, habits, check-ins, courses and community, all behind one login. That matters most for coaches whose results depend on what clients do between calls. The client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding, not under your own App Store account.

What about data export, support and switching?
Coaches Console exports clients to an Excel spreadsheet, according to its help center in an older profile. Paperbell keeps client lists and history in its Clients area, but we could not verify a documented CSV export.
Before you commit to either, test the export during the trial or guarantee period. Export a few test clients and check that names, emails, purchase history and notes come out in a usable form. Both offer a 30-day money-back guarantee, which gives you time to do this.
Switching costs are real for both. With Coaches Console, moving away means rebuilding your website and email sequences elsewhere. With Paperbell, moving means rebuilding packages and booking pages, and telling active clients where to go. Coachful offers a full client data export as a ZIP (roster, notes, check-ins, goals, habits, sessions and form responses) and imports your clients, programs and content for you during onboarding. Our Paperbell alternative page covers the switch from Paperbell specifically.
Which should you pick for which kind of coach?
Pick Paperbell if you are a solo coach selling sessions and packages on a budget. Pick Coaches Console if you want one older system for CRM, website, email and courses and the price fits. Pick Coachful if you run programs or plan to grow.
| Coach type | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Coachful (program and cohort coaches) | Coachful | Programs with habits, check-ins, goals and courses, community and cohorts, booking and payments in one login |
| New solo coach selling 1:1 packages | Paperbell | Lowest price of the two, unlimited clients, quick package setup |
| Coach who needs PayPal or Authorize.net | Paperbell or Coaches Console | Both have supported PayPal per earlier profiles; Coaches Console also listed Authorize.net |
| Established coach with an email list and courses | Coaches Console Total or Coachful | Coaches Console lists email, site and courses together; Coachful adds programs and community |
| Health or wellness coach | Coachful | Habits, check-ins and daily tasks fit behavior change; none of the three is a clinical system |
| Coach adding associate coaches | Coachful | Team plans add coach seats with per-coach availability and permissions |
A note for health coaches: coaching is not medical treatment. If a client describes symptoms, a diagnosis or medication questions, refer them to a doctor or licensed clinician. Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and offers no BAA, so clinical records and insurance billing belong in a clinical system.
For life coaches and business coaches who mainly sell sessions, Paperbell remains a reasonable low-effort choice. Once you start building programs or a group offer, its limits show quickly.
Is there a third option that beats both?
Yes, for coaches who deliver programs. Coachful combines what Paperbell does well (booking, packages, payments, contracts) with what Coaches Console offers (website, email, courses) and adds program delivery, habits, check-ins, community and an AI assistant, in one login for you and one branded app for your clients.

What Coachful is. A coaching platform. One subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant. It is built for coaches who deliver programs, not just sessions; for solo coaches growing into a small team; and for coaches replacing four to six tools. The company is based in Tallinn, Estonia, and shows 4.5 on Trustpilot from 21 reviews.
Where Coachful beats both.
- Between-session delivery: multi-week programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks. Neither competitor documents this.
- Client record: goals, check-ins, habits, notes, intake answers, tags, payments and sessions in one place, with a status of thriving, active, quiet or at risk, and an AI briefing per client.
- Community and cohorts: a community feed, group chat, direct messages and video events, with cohort groups created automatically on program enrollment.
- Michelle, the built-in AI assistant: works from your live practice data, builds programs, drafts emails and content, summarizes recorded sessions and briefs you before sessions. Questions and planning are included in the membership; confirmed builds and changes use AI credits. See the AI coaching assistant.
- ICF credential tracking: counts coaching hours and distinct clients against ACC, PCC and MCC thresholds and exports an ICF client coaching log. See ICF hour tracking.
- Templates: more than 40 ready-to-film program templates, 48 course templates with quizzes and about 25 funnel templates.
- Team growth: Studio and Agency plans add coach seats with per-coach availability and staff permissions.
Here is a short walkthrough of how programs are built and delivered in Coachful:

Where Coachful does not beat them.
- PayPal: Coachful has no PayPal. Paperbell and Coaches Console have supported it, according to earlier profiles.
- No permanent free plan: there is a free trial, but no free tier.
- Simplicity for session-only coaches: if all you sell is single sessions and you want nothing else, Paperbell's narrower scope is easier to learn.
- Own App Store app: the client app carries your branding inside the Coachful app, not under your own App Store account.
- Clinical use: not HIPAA-certified and not for clinical record-keeping or insurance billing.
- Large sales teams: no multi-stage deal board and no Salesforce or HubSpot integration.
- Affiliates: the affiliate program tracks links, clicks, conversions and revenue, but payouts are recorded manually rather than sent by Coachful.
Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. On every plan, you can ask the Coachful team to build something for you from Create > We'll build it for you: a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline, email sequence, link in bio, lead quiz, webinar or automation. You describe what you want and attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files such as logos, photos and brand guides. The team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. Nothing gets invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. Read the full details in our white-glove service guide.

Recent anonymized builds show what this looks like. A somatic coach leaving Kajabi had the homepage and About page rebuilt and the contact form connected. A business mentor for beauty professionals got a 12-week mentorship sales page, a free start-up guide funnel and rewritten follow-up emails. A leadership coach with a Squarespace renewal days away got one clean homepage with a repeated "talk with me" button. That is the setup work Coaches Console and Paperbell leave to you.
How do you start with Coachful?
Start a free trial, then request a white-glove build of the piece you need first, usually your website or your main program. Your clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding.
- Pick a plan by client count (current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients).
- Connect Stripe or Razorpay and your Google, Apple or Outlook calendar.
- Request a build from Create > We'll build it for you, attaching your logo, photos and existing copy.
- Send agreements and booking links to existing clients, and enroll them in a program.
- Turn on check-ins and habits so clients have something to do between calls.
