Flodesk vs MailerLite for Coaches: Honest 2026 Comparison

Flodesk vs MailerLite for Coaches: Honest 2026 Comparison

In the flodesk vs mailerlite decision, the short answer for coaches is this: MailerLite is cheaper at small list sizes, gives you more automation on its paid plans and includes a booking tool, while Flodesk gives you the most polished-looking emails with the least effort and a simple path to sales pages and checkout on its top plan. Neither one runs your coaching itself. They send email and collect leads; your sessions, programs and client work still live somewhere else.

This comparison uses the prices and limits each vendor listed in October 2026, what their help pages document, and what public reviewers report. We did not run long-term tests on either account, so we say what each company documents rather than claiming hands-on results. We make Coachful, a coaching platform that includes email alongside booking, payments, programs and a client app, so near the end we cover it as a third option and are clear about when it beats both and when it does not.

Flodesk or MailerLite: what is the short answer by use case?

Pick MailerLite if you want the lowest price for a small list and real automations; pick Flodesk if design matters most and you want a simple, flat-feeling tool. If you also need booking, payments and a place where clients do the work between sessions, both tools leave a gap that a coaching platform fills.

  • You are starting out with under 250 subscribers: MailerLite. Its free plan actually sends email (up to 2,500 emails a month). Flodesk's free plan lets you build forms and pages but sends no email at all.
  • Your brand is visual and you hate fiddly editors: Flodesk. Its whole pitch is design-led templates, and public reviewers consistently praise how good the default emails look.
  • You want welcome sequences, nurture flows and tagging logic: MailerLite Comfort or Power. Flodesk Lite only includes one workflow (as a limited-time bonus); unlimited workflows start on Pro.
  • You want to sell a low-ticket offer from a sales page: Flodesk Everything gives unlimited checkouts, sales pages, payment plans and abandoned-cart automations. MailerLite sells digital products and paid newsletters with 0% MailerLite commission.
  • You want discovery calls booked from your emails: MailerLite, which has built-in Bookings with Google Calendar and Outlook sync. Flodesk has no scheduling.
  • You run programs, habits, check-ins or group coaching: neither. Both are marketing tools. A coaching platform such as Coachful handles the client side and includes email lists, broadcasts and sequences too.

If you have already read our Flodesk review or our MailerLite alternatives for coaches, this article goes one level deeper on the head-to-head.

How do Flodesk and MailerLite compare side by side?

On paper, MailerLite does more and Flodesk looks better. The table below adds Coachful for context, since many coaches comparing email tools are really trying to decide how much of their business one tool should run. Ranking criteria: one login for the whole client journey, between-session delivery, total stack cost, and setup effort (including Coachful's free white-glove build).

The two email tools overlap on the basics: drag-and-drop email builders, signup forms, landing pages, segmentation and Stripe-powered selling. The differences are in how far each one goes and how the price climbs as your list grows.

What do Flodesk and MailerLite cost in 2026?

At 1,000 subscribers, MailerLite Comfort costs $19 a month and Flodesk Lite costs $25 a month on monthly billing, as listed in October 2026. Once you need unlimited automations, MailerLite Power is $39 a month and Flodesk Pro is $28 a month at the same list size, so the cheaper tool flips depending on which features you need.

Thinking of launching your coaching business?

Answer a few questions and Coachful builds it around you: your website, programs, booking and payments. Ready in minutes.

Build your platform

Both tools now price by subscriber count. That matters for Flodesk in particular: it retired its old flat-rate plan for new members on December 2, 2025 (existing members kept it), so older articles that describe Flodesk as "one flat price for unlimited subscribers" are out of date for anyone signing up now. MailerLite also changed its plans on June 16, 2026: Growing Business became Comfort and Advanced became Power, with new prices and limits, so reviews quoting $10 or $20 under the old names no longer apply.

PlanMonthly billingAnnual billing (per month)Annual total (calculated)Main limits
CoachfulLite: $29/month for up to 5 clientsFlat monthly plans; lower plans cap clients, Pro is unlimitedPro: $99/month with unlimited clientsPrice set by number of clients, not email subscribers; email, booking, payments and programs included in your Coachful membership
MailerLite Free$0$0$0250 active subscribers, 2,500 emails a month, 2 seats, 3 automations
MailerLite Comfort (1,000 subscribers)$19$17.10$205.2010,000 emails a month, 3 seats, 50 automations
MailerLite Power (1,000 subscribers)$39$35.10$421.20Unlimited emails (fair use), unlimited seats and automations
Flodesk Free$0$0$0Forms, landing pages and link-in-bio pages; no email sending
Flodesk Lite (up to 1,000 subscribers)$25$19$228Unlimited sends, 1 seat, 1 workflow (limited-time bonus), max 25,000 subscribers
Flodesk Pro (up to 1,000 subscribers)$28$25$300Unlimited workflows, 2 seats, hide Flodesk footer, 1 checkout (limited-time bonus)
Flodesk Everything (up to 1,000 subscribers)$54$49$588Unlimited checkouts, sales pages, funnels, payment plans, 3 seats

Annual totals are our arithmetic from each vendor's listed per-month annual price. MailerLite's paid plans start at 500 subscribers ($12 for Comfort, $25 for Power on monthly billing), and annual billing takes 10% off. Flodesk's annual billing works out to "1 month free".

How does the price change as your list grows?

MailerLite publishes clear tiers, as listed in October 2026 on monthly billing:

Active subscribersMailerLite ComfortMailerLite Power
500$12$25
1,000$19$39
2,500$33$49
5,000$49$69
10,000$89$129

Flodesk uses a slider on its pricing page and counts only active subscribers. Its plans start at the 1,000-subscriber price shown above and climb from there; at the very top of the slider, Pro reaches about $1,589 a month on monthly billing. Because the in-between steps change, move the slider to your own list size before you compare. Our Flodesk pricing breakdown walks through the plans in more detail.

Two pricing details catch coaches out. First, MailerLite moves paid accounts up a tier automatically when you go over, and charges you for it. Second, on MailerLite's free plan, sending (campaigns and automations) locks once you pass 250 active subscribers, so a successful lead magnet can switch your emails off until you upgrade.

What about payment fees?

Both tools sell through Stripe and add no commission of their own on the pages we checked. MailerLite states "0% MailerLite commissions" on digital products, paid newsletters, subscriptions and bookings; only Stripe's fee applies. Flodesk Checkout through Stripe Express charges 3% + $0.30 per transaction in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand (3% + £0.30 in the UK, 3% + €0.30 in Europe), and Stripe Standard users pay their own regional Stripe rate. Flodesk Checkout only works in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Euro Area countries, which rules it out for coaches selling from elsewhere.

Which has the better email editor and templates?

Flodesk has the more beautiful templates out of the box; MailerLite has the more flexible editors. If you want emails that look like a magazine spread without touching a design setting, Flodesk is the easier route.

Flodesk built its brand on design. Its template library leans editorial, with generous white space, elegant type and image-led layouts, and public reviewers on Trustpilot (4.8 from 321 reviews, seen October 2026) frequently mention how quickly they get something that looks professional. The trade-off is control: Flodesk keeps you inside its layouts, which protects the look but limits unusual structures.

MailerLite offers three ways to build: a drag-and-drop editor, a Simple editor for plain-looking letters, and a custom HTML editor. Paid plans add unlimited templates, dynamic content (blocks that change by subscriber), multivariate testing, auto-resend to people who did not open, and an AI writing assistant. MailerLite's Trustpilot score is 4.1 from 3,391 reviews (seen October 2026); the much larger review count reflects a bigger, broader user base.

For coaches, the question is less "which email looks prettier" and more "which emails will I actually send every week". A plain-looking weekly letter from a coach often reads as more personal than a designed newsletter. If you mostly write text-led notes to your list, MailerLite's Simple editor is enough. If your offer depends on a visual brand (styling, interiors, wedding or lifestyle coaching), Flodesk's look may be worth the premium.

Which is better for automations and sequences?

MailerLite, clearly. Its paid plans give you far more automations and steps per dollar, while Flodesk only unlocks unlimited workflows from Pro upward.

Here is what each documents, as listed in October 2026:

  • MailerLite Free: 3 active automations, 5 steps each.
  • MailerLite Comfort: 50 active automations, 100 steps each.
  • MailerLite Power: unlimited automations, 100 steps each, plus multiple triggers per automation.
  • Flodesk Lite: 1 workflow, offered as a limited-time bonus.
  • Flodesk Pro and Everything: unlimited workflows; Everything adds abandoned-cart automations.

A typical coaching setup needs at least three sequences: a lead-magnet welcome series, a discovery-call nurture for people who downloaded something but did not book, and an onboarding sequence for new clients. On Flodesk, that pushes you to Pro. On MailerLite, Comfort covers it with room to spare.

Whichever tool you choose, the legal basics are the same. In the US, the FTC's CAN-SPAM compliance guide requires a clear way to unsubscribe and a valid physical postal address in commercial email. If you coach clients in the EU, the GDPR sets rules on consent and personal data. Both tools give you the unsubscribe link and consent fields; how you use them is on you, so check with an attorney if your situation is unusual.

Can you book coaching sessions in Flodesk or MailerLite?

You can in MailerLite, and you cannot in Flodesk. MailerLite includes built-in Bookings for 1:1 and group sessions, free or paid through Stripe, with Google Calendar and Outlook or Microsoft 365 sync.

MailerLite's booking questions save straight to the subscriber's profile, which is useful for discovery calls: you can tag people by answer and follow up automatically. The free plan allows one active event type, and that limit is shared with digital products, so you choose one or the other. Comfort raises that to 5 combined digital products and bookings, and Power makes it unlimited.

Flodesk has no scheduling at all, so Flodesk users add a separate booking tool and pay for it. That is fine if you already like your scheduler, but it means one more login, one more bill and one more place where client details live. For a full list of options, see our page on scheduling software for coaches.

Which is better for selling coaching offers?

Flodesk Everything is the stronger checkout for a single offer with a sales page, payment plans and abandoned-cart emails. MailerLite is better if you sell digital downloads, paid newsletters or paid bookings and want to keep costs low.

Flodesk's selling features scale by plan. Pro includes one checkout as a limited-time bonus. Everything adds unlimited checkouts, sales pages and funnels, subscriptions and payment plans, and abandoned-cart automations. Apple Pay and Google Pay are available if you connect Stripe Standard.

MailerLite sells digital products, paid newsletters, recurring subscriptions and paid bookings with 0% MailerLite commission. Paid newsletters and recurring subscriptions need Comfort or Power; the free plan allows one active digital product or booking. It also connects to Shopify and WooCommerce for e-commerce.

What neither tool does is deliver the coaching you sold. MailerLite's own page says video courses "would typically be hosted elsewhere and linked", and Flodesk has no course portal. If you sell a 12-week program, you still need somewhere for the weekly lessons, the check-ins and the sessions. Our course platform guide for coaches covers that side.

How do their websites, landing pages and forms compare?

Both build landing pages and forms; MailerLite also builds full websites with a blog. Flodesk's free plan includes unlimited forms, landing pages and link-in-bio pages, which is generous for list-building before you send anything.

MailerLite's free plan allows 1 website and 1 landing page, 3 active signup forms, pop-ups and embedded forms, and surveys and quizzes. Comfort raises that to 10 websites and landing pages and 10 active forms, plus custom domains and removal of the MailerLite logo. Power makes all of it unlimited.

Flodesk's pages share its design-first style. On Everything you also get sales pages and funnels. Hiding the Flodesk footer starts on Pro.

If your website is your main sales tool, compare these with a dedicated coach website builder. A landing page that collects emails is not the same as a site that books calls, takes payment and signs a contract in one flow.

Which one looks like you?

Coachful builds your coaching website from a few answers, in a design chosen for your niche, with programs, booking and payments ready behind it.

Build your platform

What is the client experience like after someone pays?

With either tool, the client experience after purchase is an inbox full of emails and links to other tools. Neither MailerLite nor Flodesk has a client portal, client app, coaching programs, habit tracking or check-ins.

Picture a new client who buys a 90-day program from a Flodesk sales page (an illustrative example). They get a receipt from Stripe, a welcome email from Flodesk, a booking link to a separate scheduler, a contract from an e-signature tool, a login for a course platform and perhaps an invite to a chat group. That is five or six places before the first session, each with its own password and notification settings. The more clients you have, the more that scatter costs you in admin.

MailerLite shortens that chain a little, because booking and selling happen in the same account. But the client still has nowhere to see their goals, log habits, answer a check-in or watch the next lesson. For coaches who sell sessions only, that may be fine. For coaches who deliver programs, it is the gap that matters most.

Which should you pick for which kind of coach?

Match the tool to how you earn: list-first creators lean MailerLite, brand-first coaches lean Flodesk, and coaches who deliver programs need more than either.

What is the third option, and when does Coachful beat both?

Coachful beats both when email is only one part of what you need: if you also book sessions, take payments, send contracts and deliver programs, one Coachful membership replaces the email tool and the four or five tools around it. It does not beat them if all you want is a newsletter.

Coachful is a coaching platform. One subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant, with one login for you and one branded app for your clients. It is built for coaches who deliver programs rather than just sessions, solo coaches growing into a small team, and coaches replacing four to six tools. The company is based in Tallinn, Estonia, and its Trustpilot score is 4.5 from 21 reviews.

Email inside Coachful

Coachful includes email lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences with triggers, delays, branching and A/B splits. The difference from MailerLite and Flodesk is what the email knows about: because it sits in the same system as your clients, sessions, payments and programs, a sequence can follow what actually happened in the coaching, not just whether someone opened the last email. Michelle, the built-in AI assistant, can draft those emails from your live practice data.

Booking, payments and contracts

Booking pages include availability rules, buffers, minimum notice and time-zone detection, with two-way Google, Apple/iCloud and Outlook calendar sync and built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet and Teams links. Reminders go out by email, plus SMS (24 hours before) and WhatsApp (1 hour before) once messaging is enabled. Payments run through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account: one-time, subscriptions, payment plans, order bumps, coupons, refunds, Apple Pay and Google Pay, with a 0% Coachful platform fee since August 2026, so you pay only Stripe or Razorpay processing. Coaching agreements with e-signature go out before the first call and are stored on the client record.

What clients see between sessions

This is where Coachful is most different from both email tools. Clients get multi-week programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks, plus courses, downloads and a community feed, all in your branded home and app. On your side, each client record shows goals, check-ins, habits, notes, intake answers, payments and sessions, with a status of thriving, active, quiet or at risk.

Website and funnels

Coachful's section-based website builder includes a blog, custom domain, SEO settings and 30 designed homepage templates, plus booking, application, lead-magnet and checkout funnels with pixels and UTM tracking, and a link-in-bio page that sells. If you want help with any of it, the build service below does it for you.

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. From Create, choose "We'll build it for you · FREE", describe what you need (a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline, email sequence, lead quiz, automation or something else), and attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files such as logos, photos and brand guides. The Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. Nothing gets invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. One recent example: a business mentor for beauty professionals got a 12-week mentorship sales page, a free start-up-guide funnel and rewritten follow-up emails. Another: a leadership coach with a Squarespace renewal days away got one clean homepage with a repeated "talk with me" button. The service does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. Read more about the free white-glove service.

When Coachful does not beat them

  • You only need a newsletter. If you sell nothing directly and just want to send a weekly letter to a list, MailerLite's free plan or Flodesk Lite is simpler and costs less.
  • Your list is large and your client count is tiny. If you are a creator with tens of thousands of subscribers and few one-to-one clients, a dedicated email platform focuses on deliverability features (such as a dedicated IP, an add-on on both MailerLite and Flodesk) that are their core business.
  • You want a permanent free plan. Coachful has a free trial but no permanent free plan.
  • You need PayPal. Coachful does not support PayPal.
  • You need HIPAA. Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and does not sign a BAA, so clinical records belong in a clinical system.
  • You want your own App Store listing. The client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding, not under your own developer account.

What does the total stack cost look like?

Compare the whole stack, not one line item. As an illustrative example, a Flodesk coach at 1,000 subscribers on Pro pays $28 a month for email, then adds a scheduler, an e-signature tool, a course or program platform and often a community tool, each with its own bill. A MailerLite Comfort coach at the same size pays $19 a month and already has booking, but still adds contracts, programs and a client space. Coachful's plans are priced by number of clients rather than subscribers (current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients), and email, booking, payments, contracts and programs are included in your Coachful membership. Add up your current tools and compare on our comparison page.

To start: open a free trial, then request a free white-glove build of your website, funnel or first program. Clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding, so you do not rebuild your list by hand. MailerLite lets admins export subscribers as CSV from the Subscribers page (subscriber notes cannot be exported); Flodesk's export process was not documented on the pages we checked, so look in your account settings before you plan the move.

What is the verdict on Flodesk vs MailerLite?

For most coaches choosing only an email tool, MailerLite is the better value: it sends email on the free plan, gives you dozens of automations on Comfort and includes booking. Flodesk wins for coaches whose brand lives on visual polish, and its Everything plan is a tidy all-in-one checkout for a single signature offer.

If you are new, see our guide for coaches just starting out; if you coach life transitions, our page for life coaches shows how programs and check-ins fit together. And if your real problem is the five tools around your email list rather than the email tool itself, that is the case for a coaching platform.

Frequently asked questions about Flodesk vs MailerLite

Is Flodesk or MailerLite cheaper for coaches?

At 1,000 subscribers, MailerLite Comfort ($19 a month) is cheaper than Flodesk Lite ($25 a month) on monthly billing, as listed in October 2026. If you need unlimited automations, Flodesk Pro ($28) undercuts MailerLite Power ($39) at that size. MailerLite's free plan also sends email, while Flodesk's free plan does not.

Does Flodesk still have unlimited subscribers for one flat price?

Not for new members. Flodesk retired its flat-rate plan for new sign-ups on December 2, 2025, and now prices by active subscribers. Existing members on the old plan kept it.

Can I book discovery calls with MailerLite?

Yes. MailerLite includes built-in Bookings for 1:1 and group sessions, free or paid via Stripe, with Google Calendar and Outlook sync. The free plan allows one active event type, shared with the digital-product limit.

Can Flodesk take payments?

Yes, through Flodesk Checkout with Stripe. Pro includes one checkout as a limited-time bonus, and Everything adds unlimited checkouts, payment plans and abandoned-cart automations. Checkout is supported only in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Euro Area countries.

Which has better automations, Flodesk or MailerLite?

MailerLite offers more automation for the money: 50 automations on Comfort and unlimited on Power, each with up to 100 steps. Flodesk Lite includes one workflow as a limited-time bonus, and unlimited workflows start on Pro.

Can I host my coaching program or course in either tool?

Not really. MailerLite says video courses would typically be hosted elsewhere and linked, and Flodesk has no course portal. Neither has a client portal, habit tracking or check-ins, so programs need a separate platform.

Does Coachful include email marketing?

Yes. Email lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences with triggers, delays, branching and A/B splits are included in your Coachful membership, alongside booking, payments, contracts and programs. It suits coaches who want email tied to their client work rather than a standalone newsletter tool.

What is Coachful's free white-glove service?

It is a free build service on every Coachful plan. You describe what you want, such as a website, funnel, program or email sequence, attach references, and the Coachful team builds it inside your account, usually within about 24 hours. It does not include recording videos, logo design or ad management.

Can I move my list from Flodesk or MailerLite to Coachful?

Yes. MailerLite exports subscribers as CSV, and during Coachful onboarding your clients, programs and content are imported for you. Flodesk's export steps were not documented on the pages we checked, so check your account before you plan the move.
