Kajabi vs Practice Better: Which Fits Coaches in 2026?

Kajabi vs Practice Better comes down to which half of your coaching business you need software for. Kajabi is a course, community, funnel and email platform for selling knowledge products to a large audience. Practice Better is practice management for wellness and nutrition practitioners: scheduling, telehealth video, charting, billing and client programs. Pick Kajabi if you mainly sell courses and memberships; pick Practice Better if you mainly see individual clients and keep practitioner-style notes.
Most coaches need both halves, which is why this comparison also looks at a third option. We make Coachful, a coaching platform that covers booking, payments, programs with habits and check-ins, courses, community, a website with funnels and email in one subscription. We will be clear about where Kajabi or Practice Better is the better pick, and every vendor price below is as listed on the vendor's own pricing page in October 2026.
What is the short answer by use case?
If you only remember one thing: Kajabi is built to sell, Practice Better is built to run appointments and records. Here is how that plays out for the coaches we hear from most.
- You sell a signature course, membership or community to hundreds or thousands of people: Kajabi fits better than Practice Better. It has funnels, landing pages and marketing email on every plan, and its contact limits start at 2,500.
- You are a nutrition or wellness practitioner who keeps charts, uses intake forms and may need ePrescribe or fax: Practice Better fits better than Kajabi. Kajabi has no charting at all.
- You coach clients through multi-week programs and want to see their habits and check-ins between sessions: neither fits well. Kajabi has no habit tracking or daily client check-ins, and Practice Better's self-paced programs start on its Plus plan. Coachful is built for this case.
- You need a website, booking, payments, programs and a course without stitching tools together: Coachful, because Practice Better has no website builder or funnel pages and Kajabi has no per-client coaching plans.
- You are a student or brand new with three clients or fewer: Practice Better's free Sprout plan is hard to beat on price, as long as you accept its limits.
Criteria for this comparison: one login for the whole client journey, between-session delivery, total stack cost, and setup effort (including Coachful's free white-glove build).
| Platform | Built for | Starting price | Between-session delivery | Website and funnels | Trustpilot |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Coaches who deliver programs, not just sessions | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients | Habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals, streaks, AI Coach | Yes: website builder, funnels, email sequences | 4.5 from 21 reviews |
| Kajabi | Selling courses, communities and digital products | $179/mo Basic ($143/mo billed yearly) | Courses and community; no habits or daily check-ins | Yes: unlimited funnels and landing pages | 3.4 from 2,347 reviews |
| Practice Better | Wellness and nutrition practice management | Free Sprout (3 clients); Starter $35/mo | Programs (fixed-date on Professional, self-paced on Plus), secure messaging | No website builder or funnel pages | 3.8 from 87 reviews |

How do Kajabi and Practice Better compare side by side?
They overlap less than their shared "all-in-one" label suggests. Kajabi's strength is marketing and digital delivery to many people at once; Practice Better's strength is the clinical-style admin of seeing one client at a time.

Kajabi describes itself as a platform for selling knowledge products: courses, communities, coaching offers, websites, funnels and email. Its plans are sized by products, contacts, communities, websites and admin users, which tells you who it is built for. A creator with 20,000 email subscribers and five courses is the natural customer.

Practice Better describes itself as practice management for wellness practitioners. Its plans are sized by clients, practitioners and storage, and its add-ons include an AI Charting Assistant, ePrescribe, a PDMP connection and fax. Those are tools for dietitians, functional nutrition practitioners and integrative health providers, and they say a lot about the product's centre of gravity. For more on that side, see our Practice Better review and our explainer on what the Practice Better EHR does.

How does Kajabi vs Practice Better pricing compare?
Practice Better is much cheaper to start, and Kajabi is much more expensive at every tier. The gap narrows only when you price in what each one lacks: a website and email tool on top of Practice Better, or a scheduler and client tracker on top of Kajabi.

Kajabi lists three public plans as of October 2026. Basic is $179 a month ($143 a month billed yearly) for 5 products, 2,500 contacts, 1 community, 1 website, 2 admin users and no AI credits. Growth is $249 a month ($199 billed yearly) for 50 products, 25,000 contacts, 11 admin users and 500 AI credits, plus an affiliate program. Pro is $499 a month ($399 billed yearly) for unlimited products, 100,000 contacts, 3 communities, 3 websites, 26 admin users and 1,000 AI credits. Kajabi's comparison table shows the branded mobile app on Pro only. Extra contacts cost $125 a month per 25,000.

Practice Better lists five plans. Sprout is free for 3 clients, 1 practitioner and 100 MB. Starter is $35 a month ($25 billed yearly) for 10 clients and 1 GB, with scheduling, telehealth video, billing, secure messaging, a client portal, forms and note templates. Professional is $69 a month ($59 billed yearly) for 300 clients, adding group scheduling, fixed-date programs, deposits, payment plans and Zapier. Plus is $99 a month ($89 billed yearly) for unlimited clients, 3 admins, self-paced programs, portal branding, a personalized URL, 750 SMS a month and 10,000 broadcasts a month. Team is $155 a month ($145 billed yearly) for 2 practitioners, with more at $50 each. One oddity: the Professional card on the page says "Save $84/year", which implies about $62 a month, while the table shows $59.
| Platform and plan | Monthly price | Billed yearly (per month) | Main limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients | Flat monthly plans; cancel monthly plans in one click | Lower plans cap clients; Pro is unlimited; team plans add seats |
| Kajabi Basic | $179 | $143 | 5 products, 2,500 contacts, 0 AI credits |
| Kajabi Growth | $249 | $199 | 50 products, 25,000 contacts |
| Kajabi Pro | $499 | $399 | Unlimited products, 100,000 contacts |
| Practice Better Sprout | $0 | $0 | 3 clients, 100 MB |
| Practice Better Starter | $35 | $25 | 10 clients, 1 GB |
| Practice Better Professional | $69 | $59 | 300 clients, 5 GB |
| Practice Better Plus | $99 | $89 | Unlimited clients, 3 admins |
| Practice Better Team | $155 | $145 | 2 practitioners (+$50 each) |
What do payment fees add?
Kajabi's fees depend on your plan and processor. With Kajabi Payments in the US, card processing is 2.9% + $0.30 on Basic, 2.8% + $0.30 on Growth and 2.7% + $0.30 on Pro. If you connect a processor other than Kajabi Payments or PayPal, Kajabi adds its own fee on top of the provider's: 2% on Basic, 1% on Growth and 0.5% on Pro.
Practice Better states no platform fee. Payments run through Practice Better Payments, powered by Stripe, but the rates are not listed on its pricing page, so ask before you commit.
Coachful takes a 0% platform fee (since August 2026). You connect your own Stripe or Razorpay account and pay only their processing.
To make that concrete, here is an illustrative example, not a real customer: a coach who collects $3,000 a month in client payments on Kajabi Basic through a third-party processor pays an extra 2%, or $60 a month, to Kajabi on top of the processor's own fees. On Kajabi Payments that surcharge disappears, but you are tied to Kajabi's processor.
What does a realistic monthly stack cost?
The sticker price is only part of it. Here is an example for a solo coach with about 15 active clients, one group program, a website and an email list. The tools you would add are illustrative; your own choices will change the totals.
| Setup | Core platform | What you still need to add | Logins your clients juggle |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients | Nothing for booking, programs, courses, website, funnels or email | One branded app |
| Kajabi Basic | $179/mo | A scheduler with calendar sync, a client habit or check-in tool, contracts | Kajabi plus the scheduler plus the tracker |
| Practice Better Professional | $69/mo | A website builder, landing pages, an email marketing tool, a course or community space if you want one | Practice Better portal plus your site and email |
For a deeper look at Kajabi's cost against Coachful, see Coachful vs Kajabi, and for the practice side, Coachful vs Practice Better.
Which one is better for 1:1 scheduling and sessions?
Practice Better is better for 1:1 sessions. Scheduling and telehealth video are in every paid plan, and group scheduling arrives on Professional.
Kajabi's pricing page is organised around products, contacts and marketing, not calendars. It does sell coaching as a product, but if your week is mostly back-to-back client calls, confirm during the 14-day trial whether its booking setup covers availability rules, reminders and calendar sync the way you need.
Coachful covers the session side in depth: booking pages with availability rules, buffers, minimum notice and time-zone detection; two-way Google, Apple/iCloud and Outlook sync; built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet or Teams links; email reminders plus SMS (24 hours before) and WhatsApp (1 hour before) once messaging is enabled; paid sessions and session credits; and intake questions on booking. Team plans can assign sessions round-robin or to the least busy coach. More on our scheduling software page.

How do programs, habits and check-ins compare?
This is where the two differ most from what coaches usually need. Kajabi delivers content to many people; Practice Better delivers programs with practitioner oversight; neither is built around daily habits and check-ins between sessions.
Kajabi does not offer habit tracking or daily client check-ins. Coaching in Kajabi is a product or a community, not a per-client plan, so you cannot easily see that one client has missed three days of journaling while another is on a 12-day streak.
Practice Better has client programs, but the useful versions sit on higher plans: fixed-date programs on Professional ($69 a month) and evergreen, self-paced programs and program templates on Plus ($99 a month). Its pricing page lists secure messaging and forms rather than a habit tracker, so check whether its programs match how you coach.
Coachful's programs are multi-week, with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks. Each client record shows status as thriving, active, quiet or at risk, so you know who needs a message before the next call. There are more than 40 ready-to-film program templates to start from.

Here is how a program comes together in Coachful:

Which is better for courses and community?
Kajabi is better than Practice Better for courses and community; that is its core business. Every Kajabi plan includes courses (5 products on Basic, 50 on Growth, unlimited on Pro) and at least one community.
Practice Better delivers content through programs and group messaging rather than a standalone course builder and community feed. If you sell a self-paced course to people who never book a session, Practice Better is the wrong tool.
Coachful includes courses with modules, lessons, drip and completion tracking, plus downloads, videos, books, AI tools, events and bundles, all delivered into the client's branded home and app. It has 48 course templates with quizzes. The community has a feed, group chat, direct messages and video events, and cohort groups are created automatically when someone enrolls in a program. What Coachful is not: a course marketplace. If you want buyers to find you through a catalogue, neither Coachful nor Practice Better does that. See our course platform for coaches page for detail.

Which is better for marketing: website, funnels and email?
Kajabi wins this one easily over Practice Better. Kajabi includes a website, unlimited funnels, landing pages and marketing emails on every plan; Practice Better has no website builder or funnel pages.
Practice Better does offer broadcasts (10,000 a month on Plus) and a personalized portal URL from Plus, but you would still need a separate website, landing pages and probably a separate email tool for nurture sequences.
Coachful has a section-based website builder with a blog, custom domain, SEO settings, 30 designed homepage templates and an Import website option. Booking, application, lead-magnet and checkout funnels support pixels and UTM tracking, and email covers lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences with triggers, delays, branching and A/B splits. There is also a social planner that schedules posts to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads and YouTube, and Instagram automations that send a booking link or lead magnet by DM when someone comments a keyword. Kajabi's Basic plan caps you at 2,500 contacts; Coachful caps plans by clients, not by email contacts.

What is the client experience like on each?
On Kajabi, clients are members: they log in to watch courses and post in the community. On Practice Better, clients are treated much like a practitioner's patients: they book, fill forms, message and pay through a client portal. On Coachful, clients have one branded home for sessions, programs, habits, courses and community.
Kajabi's branded mobile app is on Pro only, per its comparison table as of October 2026, which means $499 a month before a client sees your brand on their phone. Below Pro, members use Kajabi's standard experience.
Practice Better's portal branding and personalized URL start on Plus at $99 a month. Below that, clients see Practice Better's standard portal. Our guide to the Practice Better client portal walks through what clients see.
Coachful's client app carries your branding inside the Coachful app on every plan. It ships under the Coachful listing, not your own App Store account; if you need an app under your own developer name, Kajabi Pro is the closer fit. Clients can also chat with an AI Coach, an AI version of you that you configure, between sessions.

How do they handle health, privacy and clinical work?
Practice Better is the only one of the three built for clinical-style records: charting, note templates, an AI Charting Assistant, ePrescribe and PDMP add-ons. If you are a licensed dietitian or practitioner who must keep clinical records, that orientation matters, and you should confirm directly with the vendor whether it will sign a business associate agreement (BAA) for your use case. The US Department of Health and Human Services explains what a business associate agreement covers.
Kajabi is a marketing and content platform, not a clinical system.
Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and does not sign a BAA. It is not for clinical record-keeping or insurance billing. Coaching is not treatment: a health or wellness coach supports behaviour change and does not diagnose or treat conditions. If a client describes symptoms, medication questions, disordered eating or mental health crises, refer them to a doctor or licensed clinician. The National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching sets out the coaching scope in more detail. Coachful is GDPR-ready and fits coaches who work inside that scope; see our health coaches page.
How hard is it to set up and to leave?
Both are workable to start; leaving is where details matter.
Kajabi offers a 14-day trial, per its help center. A card is optional; if you enter one, Kajabi places an authorization hold and charges on the day the trial ends. Some features, such as bulk contact import, test emails and some automations, stay locked until you activate a paid plan. Every plan has a 30-day money-back guarantee. For exports, Kajabi emails CSV files for contacts, subscriptions, sales and members, but course content is downloaded manually per asset, and data is removed 90 days after cancellation.
Practice Better has the free Sprout plan, a 14-day trial on paid plans and a 30-day trial on Team, with no contracts. Its exports are a per-client archive (notes, invoices, forms) that is emailed and kept for 48 hours, a contact list spreadsheet, and bulk export on request. If you are planning a move, our checklist on how to migrate from Practice Better covers the order of operations.
Coachful has a free trial, and clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding. Its full client data export is a ZIP with roster, notes, check-ins, goals, habits, sessions and form responses, plus course export.
Which should you pick for your kind of coaching?
Match the tool to how you earn most of your income, then check what you would have to bolt on.
| Coach type | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Coachful: program-based coaches (life, health, business, fitness) running 1:1 and group work | Coachful | Booking, programs with habits and check-ins, courses, community, website and email in one login |
| Course creator with a large audience and few 1:1 clients | Kajabi | Funnels, email and courses at scale; contacts up to 100,000 on Pro |
| Dietitian or integrative practitioner keeping charts | Practice Better | Charting, telehealth, ePrescribe and fax add-ons |
| Student coach with up to 3 clients | Practice Better Sprout | Free plan for 3 clients |
| Coach building a team | Coachful team plans or Practice Better Team | Both add seats for extra coaches; Coachful includes per-coach availability and staff permissions |
| Coach working toward an ICF credential | Coachful | Counts hours and distinct clients against ACC, PCC and MCC and exports a client coaching log |
On credentials: the International Coaching Federation publishes the hour and client requirements for ACC, PCC and MCC, and Coachful's ICF hour tracking counts against them.
Is there a third option that beats both?
For coaches who run programs rather than sell courses at scale or keep clinical charts, yes: Coachful does the jobs you would otherwise split between Kajabi and Practice Better. Here is what it is, who it is for, what it does not do, and how to start.

What it is. Coachful is a coaching platform. One subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and Michelle, a built-in AI assistant. The coach has one login and the client has one branded app. The company is based in Tallinn, Estonia, and has a Trustpilot score of 4.5 from 21 reviews.
Who it is for. Coaches who deliver programs, not just sessions; solo coaches growing into a small team; and coaches replacing four to six tools. Fitness and nutrition coaches can add the Fitness & Nutrition pack with a workout builder, macro targets, meal plans and progress photos.
Where it beats Kajabi. Per-client programs with habits, check-ins and status; two-way calendar sync and built-in video; contracts with e-signature before the first call; 0% platform fee on any plan, with your own Stripe or Razorpay account; and a branded client app without moving to a top tier. Current plans: (Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients). For more, see our Kajabi alternative page.
Where it beats Practice Better. A website builder, funnels, email sequences, courses and a community feed are included in your Coachful membership, so you do not need a separate site and email tool. Self-paced programs and your branding are not reserved for an upper tier. Michelle drafts emails, builds programs, summarises recorded sessions and briefs you before each call. See our Practice Better alternative page and Practice Better vs Coachful.
What it does not do. It is not HIPAA-certified, has no PayPal, no permanent free plan, no Garmin, Fitbit, Whoop or Oura sync, and no stock exercise videos. It is not a course marketplace or a general website builder for non-coaching sites. The client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding, not under your own App Store account. Its affiliate tracking records links, clicks, conversions and revenue, but payouts are recorded manually. There is no Salesforce or HubSpot integration.
Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. On every plan, from Create, then We'll build it for you, you describe what you want built (a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline and written material, email sequence, form, link in bio and more) and attach up to 8 reference links and 10 files. The Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. Nothing is invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices; gaps are left for you to fill. One recent example: a somatic coach leaving Kajabi had the homepage and About page rebuilt and the contact form connected. Another: a menopause and midlife health coach starting from nothing got a five-page site in sage and cream with every button leading to a free 20-minute consultation. The service does not cover recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. Read more about the free white-glove service.

How to start. Start a free trial, then request your first build through the white-glove service, or let onboarding import your clients, programs and content.
When Coachful does not beat both. Pick Kajabi over Coachful if your business is mostly selling courses to a large email list and you want your own app in the App Store. Pick Practice Better over Coachful if you keep clinical charts, need ePrescribe or fax, need a BAA, or have three clients or fewer and want a free plan. For a wider field, see our list of Practice Better alternatives and the comparison hub.
Frequently asked questions
Is Kajabi or Practice Better cheaper?
Practice Better is cheaper at every level. Its Sprout plan is free for 3 clients and Starter is $35 a month, while Kajabi starts at $179 a month ($143 billed yearly), as listed in October 2026. Kajabi's price includes marketing tools Practice Better does not have, so compare against the full stack you would need.
Can Kajabi replace Practice Better for a nutrition coach?
Usually not. Kajabi has no charting, telehealth notes or habit and check-in tracking, and its coaching offers are products rather than per-client plans. A nutrition coach who keeps notes on each client will miss those tools.
Can Practice Better replace Kajabi for selling courses?
Only partly. Practice Better has programs (self-paced ones from Plus) and broadcasts, but no website builder or funnel pages. If you sell to people who never book a session, you would still need a site, landing pages and an email tool.
Does Kajabi charge transaction fees?
Kajabi Payments in the US charges 2.9% + $0.30 on Basic, 2.8% + $0.30 on Growth and 2.7% + $0.30 on Pro. Using a processor other than Kajabi Payments or PayPal adds a Kajabi fee of 2%, 1% or 0.5% depending on plan. Coachful charges a 0% platform fee; you pay only Stripe or Razorpay processing.
Do Kajabi or Practice Better have a free trial?
Kajabi offers a 14-day trial with an optional card and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Practice Better offers a free Sprout plan, 14-day trials on paid plans and 30 days on Team. Coachful offers a free trial too.
Which has the better client app?
Kajabi's branded mobile app is on Pro only. Practice Better offers a client portal, with branding from Plus. Coachful gives clients your branding inside the Coachful app on every plan, with sessions, programs, habits, courses and community in one place.
Is Coachful HIPAA-compliant?
No. Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and does not sign a BAA, so clinical records belong in a clinical system. It is GDPR-ready and built for coaching that stays within a coaching scope.
What is Coachful's white-glove build service?
It is a free service on every plan: you describe a website, funnel, program, course outline, email sequence or similar, attach references, and the Coachful team builds it in your account, usually within about 24 hours. It does not include video recording, logo design, ads or ongoing marketing.
Can I move from Kajabi or Practice Better to Coachful?
Yes. Export your contacts and client data from your current platform, and Coachful imports clients, programs and content for you during onboarding. Kajabi deletes data 90 days after cancellation and Practice Better's per-client archives are kept for 48 hours, so export before you cancel.
How much does Coachful cost?
Coachful uses flat monthly plans: lower plans cap the number of clients, Pro is unlimited, and team plans add seats (Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients). The unlimited-client plan is here: Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients.
