Kartra vs LearnWorlds: Which Fits a Coach in 2026?

Kartra vs LearnWorlds comes down to what you sell most. Kartra is a marketing suite: pages, funnels, email, SMS, memberships, calendars and a helpdesk under one login, priced by the number of contacts. LearnWorlds is a course academy: a course builder with interactive video, quizzes, certificates and SCORM, priced by admins and active learners. If your business is mostly list-building and launches, Kartra fits better. If it is mostly self-paced courses, LearnWorlds fits better. If it is mostly coaching clients through a program, neither was built for that, and a coaching platform is the more honest comparison.
This guide compares the two on plans and fees as listed in October 2026, then feature by feature, then from the client's side of the screen. At the end we look at a third option for coaches who deliver programs rather than just content. We make Coachful, so we say clearly where it wins and where Kartra or LearnWorlds is the better pick.

What is the short answer by use case?
Pick by the job you need the software to do most of the week. Here is the short version before the detail.
- You run launches, email sequences and sales funnels, and your courses are a membership bolted on: Kartra. Its pricing page leads with pages, funnels, checkouts, campaigns and email, and its higher plans add affiliates, surveys, quizzes and a helpdesk.
- You sell self-paced courses, academies or corporate training: LearnWorlds. It lists interactive video, learning paths, certificates, SCORM packages and (on Learning Center) LTI 1.3 and full white-label.
- You coach clients through multi-week programs with sessions, habits and check-ins: neither. Both vendors' own materials describe marketing or learning tools, and our research notes for both list no client habits, daily check-ins or per-client coaching plans. A coaching platform such as Coachful covers that ground.
- You have a tight budget and few buyers: LearnWorlds Starter is the cheaper entry price, but it charges a fee on every paid enrollment. Kartra Essentials costs more and takes 5% of sales.
If you already know you are leaning one way, our deeper pieces cover each tool alone: the Kartra review and the LearnWorlds review.
How do Kartra and LearnWorlds compare side by side?
Kartra is broader on marketing; LearnWorlds is deeper on learning. We rank on four things that matter most to a working coach: one login for the whole client journey, delivery between sessions, the total cost of the stack, and setup effort (including whether someone will build it for you). On those criteria a coaching platform leads, so it sits in the first row.
| Tool | Built for | Entry price | Platform fee on sales | Client habits and check-ins | Free trial |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Coaches delivering programs: booking, payments, contracts, programs, courses, community, website and email in one login | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients | 0% platform fee; only Stripe or Razorpay processing | Yes: habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals, streaks | Yes, plus a free white-glove build |
| Kartra | Marketing suite: pages, funnels, email and SMS, memberships, calendars, helpdesk | $59/month Essentials ($52/month billed annually) | 5% on Essentials; 0% on Starter and Growth | Not offered | 14 days; 30-day money-back guarantee |
| LearnWorlds | Course academy: course builder, interactive video, SCORM, website and funnels | $29/month Starter ($24/month billed annually) | $5 per paid enrollment on Starter; none from Pro Trainer | Not offered | 30 days; LearnWorlds says no card required |
Vendor prices above are as listed in October 2026 and exclude payment processing. LearnWorlds also notes that its prices exclude VAT, which is added for EU customers without a VAT number.
How much do Kartra and LearnWorlds cost?
LearnWorlds is cheaper at every comparable tier on sticker price, but the two meter different things. Kartra charges by contacts on your list; LearnWorlds charges by admins and active learners per month. Your real cost depends on which of those numbers grows faster in your business.
| Plan | Monthly | Billed annually (per month) | Main limits | Fee on sales |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful (all plans) | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients | Flat monthly plans; monthly plans cancel in one click | Lower plans cap clients; Pro is unlimited; team plans add coach seats | 0% platform fee |
| Kartra Essentials | $59 | $52 | 500 contacts, 5 pages, 1 product, 1 membership or course, 10,000 emails a month, 1 domain, 30 AI uses | 5% |
| Kartra Starter | $119 | $99 | 2,500 contacts, unlimited pages, products and memberships, unlimited email and SMS, 100 AI uses, 5 team members | 0% |
| Kartra Growth | $229 | $189 | 12,500 contacts, 3 domains, 250 AI uses, 10 team members | 0% |
| Kartra Professional | $549 | $429 | 25,000 contacts, 5 domains | Not stated on the page |
| LearnWorlds Starter | $29 | $24 | 1 admin, 1,000 active learners a month, 300 AI credits a month | $5 per paid enrollment |
| LearnWorlds Pro Trainer | $99 | $79 | 5 admins, 2,000 active learners a month, 500 AI credits, 20 SCORM packages, 15 page funnels, 2,000 mass emails a month | None |
| LearnWorlds Learning Center | $299 | $249 | 25 admins, 2,000 active learners a month, 1,000 AI credits, up to 10 client groups, 5,000 mass emails a month | None |
| LearnWorlds Corporate | Custom | Custom | Custom; adds SLA, DPA, daily backups and a success manager | None |

The hidden costs on each side
Kartra's contact ceiling. Kartra's pricing page says that if you exceed your plan's lead limit, your account is upgraded automatically, with a reconciliation fee for the rest of the billing cycle, and there are no add-ons to buy extra capacity. For a coach who runs a lead magnet, 500 contacts on Essentials goes quickly. Essentials also allows one product and one membership, so a coach who sells a 1:1 package and a course already needs Starter.
LearnWorlds's enrollment fee and add-ons. Starter charges $5 for every paid enrollment. Subscriptions, memberships and payment plans start on Pro Trainer, which matters if you sell a monthly coaching membership or split a program into instalments. The branded mobile app, extra emails and extra AI credits are add-ons whose prices LearnWorlds does not show on its pricing page.
Processing on both. Both connect your own Stripe and PayPal accounts, so standard processor fees (LearnWorlds quotes 2.9% + $0.30) apply on top. Neither price covers the tools you would still add for coaching work, such as a booking tool, an e-signature tool for agreements, or a habit app for clients.
A worked example (illustrative numbers)
Take an example coach who sells a six-month program to 20 clients a year and a self-paced course to 100 buyers a year, billed annually where possible.
- LearnWorlds Starter: 120 paid enrollments at $5 each is $600 in enrollment fees, plus $288 for the plan billed annually. That is $888 a year, before processing, and it still cannot sell payment plans.
- LearnWorlds Pro Trainer: $948 a year billed annually, with no enrollment fees and payment plans included. At about 120 paid enrollments a year, Pro Trainer and Starter cost roughly the same, so most growing coaches end up on Pro Trainer.
- Kartra Starter: $1,188 a year billed annually. Essentials would be $624 a year, but its 5% fee on, say, $40,000 of program sales is $2,000, and its one-product limit rules it out anyway.
In both cases you would still need tools for client habits, check-ins and agreements. For the coaching platform alternative, the plan that covers 20 active clients is Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients, with booking, contracts, programs, courses and email included in your Coachful membership. Full breakdowns live in our Kartra pricing guide and LearnWorlds pricing guide.
Which is better for building and selling courses?
LearnWorlds, clearly. Course delivery is its core product, while in Kartra a course is a membership area inside a marketing suite.
LearnWorlds lists an AI course builder and AI quiz generation from Starter, then adds unlimited courses, learning paths, certificates, bundles and interactive video on Pro Trainer. Learning Center adds unlimited SCORM and LTI 1.3. SCORM is a standard for packaging e-learning content so it can run in different learning systems, and LTI is a standard for connecting learning tools to each other. If you sell training to companies that already use those standards, LearnWorlds speaks their language and Kartra does not.
Kartra's memberships handle gated content, levels and video hosting (from Starter). They are adequate for a library of recordings or a simple course. Our September 2026 notes add that Kartra memberships and funnels are not portable: pages and funnels export only as Kartra elements, and memberships must be rebuilt if you leave.
For a coach, the question is whether the course is the product or a supporting piece of a coaching program. If it is the product, LearnWorlds is the stronger of the two. If it supports coaching, both may be more course machinery than you need, which is part of why we compare LearnWorlds with other course tools in LearnWorlds vs Kajabi and look at coaching-first course tools on our course platform for coaches page.
Which is better for marketing, funnels and email?
Kartra. Marketing is what its pricing page sells first, and its email and SMS allowances are much larger from Starter up.
Kartra lists forms, a funnel mapper, analytics, checkouts and 100 pre-built campaigns on every plan, unlimited email and SMS from Starter, and funnel simulation, automations, affiliates, surveys, quizzes and a helpdesk on Growth. Professional adds real-time funnel analytics and helpdesk live chat. If you run frequent launches with long email sequences and want your sales pages, list and checkout under one roof, that is Kartra's home ground.

LearnWorlds includes a website builder and page funnels, but with caps: 15 page funnels and 2,000 mass emails a month on Pro Trainer, 5,000 on Learning Center, and unlimited funnels only from Learning Center. Automations are listed on Learning Center. It is enough to sell courses from your own domain; it is not a full email marketing platform. Affiliates are basic on Pro Trainer and advanced on Learning Center.
A practical way to choose: count how many marketing emails you send a month and how many funnels you run at once. If those numbers are large, Kartra's model suits you. If you mostly send course announcements and a newsletter, LearnWorlds's allowances will be fine.
How do scheduling, payments and client admin compare?
Kartra has built-in calendars from Starter; LearnWorlds lists live 1:1 and group sessions from Starter. Neither is documented as a coaching back office with agreements, intake and client records on the pages we checked.
- Booking: Kartra adds calendars on Starter and above, not on Essentials. LearnWorlds lists live 1:1 and group sessions on every plan. For detailed booking rules such as buffers, minimum notice and two-way calendar sync, check each vendor's help center before you commit.
- Payments: both connect your own Stripe and PayPal accounts. Kartra sells products and checkouts on every plan; LearnWorlds puts subscriptions, memberships and payment plans on Pro Trainer and above. Our September 2026 notes say Kartra's own subscription is billed by card in USD and does not accept PayPal.
- Agreements and intake: neither vendor's pricing page lists e-signed coaching agreements. Most coaches on either tool use a separate signing tool.
- Client records: Kartra's contacts carry tags, lists and history for marketing. LearnWorlds tracks learners and course progress. Neither keeps per-client goals, habits or check-ins.
This is the gap that sends coaches looking for a third tool. Our guide to running coaching programs without Kartra walks through how to plan that client journey.
What about AI, teams and data export?
LearnWorlds gives more AI allowance; Kartra gives more team seats at the lower tiers. Data portability is a weakness on both, in different ways.
AI. Kartra lists 30, 100 and 250 AI uses a month on Essentials, Starter and Growth (its comparison table also shows 200 for Growth). LearnWorlds lists 300, 500 and 1,000 AI credits a month on its three self-serve plans, aimed mainly at building courses and quizzes. Extra LearnWorlds credits are sold as an add-on.
Teams. Kartra allows 5 team members on Starter and 10 on Growth. LearnWorlds allows 1 admin on Starter, 5 on Pro Trainer and 25 on Learning Center.
Data export. Our September 2026 notes on Kartra say contacts export to CSV with fields, lists and tags, but pages and funnels export only as Kartra elements and memberships must be rebuilt elsewhere. LearnWorlds does not document a full data export on the pages we checked, though it does offer done-for-you migration into LearnWorlds on request.
What does the client experience feel like on each?
On both, clients see a branded site and a login area for content. What differs is the mobile app and what the client can actually do between sessions.
Kartra: clients land on your pages and log into a membership portal to watch videos and download materials. Our September 2026 notes say Kartra offers no mobile app for students or admins, so clients use the mobile browser.
LearnWorlds: clients use your school site with your domain, and Learning Center adds full white-label. A branded mobile app exists as a separately priced add-on. The learning experience is strong: interactive video, quizzes, certificates and learning paths.
What both lack for coaching clients: a daily reason to come back between calls. Neither lists daily tasks, habit tracking, morning and evening check-ins, goal progress or a coach who can see who is quiet this week. Coaches usually fill this gap with a habit app, a chat group and a spreadsheet, which means three more logins for the client.
Public reviewers rate the two differently: LearnWorlds holds 4.8 on Trustpilot from 423 reviews and Kartra 3.2 from 129 reviews, both as seen on October 25, 2026. Treat those as one signal among many, since review volumes are small next to each vendor's user base.
Which should you pick for which kind of coach?
Match the tool to your revenue engine, then check you are not paying for features you will never open.
| Your coaching business | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Coachful: 1:1 or group programs with sessions, habits and check-ins | Coachful | Booking, contracts, payments, programs, courses, community, website and email in one login; clients get one branded app |
| Course creator selling academies or company training | LearnWorlds | Interactive video, certificates, learning paths, SCORM and LTI |
| Launch-driven info business with big email lists | Kartra | Funnels, unlimited email and SMS from Starter, affiliates and a helpdesk |
| New coach on a small budget selling one course | LearnWorlds Starter, if paid enrollments stay low | Lowest entry price; the $5 enrollment fee adds up with volume |
| Coach with a team of marketers | Kartra Growth | 10 team members, automations and helpdesk |
| Coach selling to HR or L&D departments | LearnWorlds Learning Center or Corporate | White-label, client groups, scheduled reports and SLA options |

Is there a third option built for coaching programs?
Yes. Coachful is a coaching platform: one subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant, with one login for the coach and one branded app for the client. It is built for coaches who deliver programs, not just sessions; solo coaches growing into a small team; and coaches replacing 4 to 6 tools.

Where Coachful beats both
- Delivery between sessions. Multi-week programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks. Neither Kartra nor LearnWorlds offers this.
- A real client record. Each client's goals, check-ins, habits, notes, intake answers, tags, payments and sessions sit together, with an AI briefing and a status of thriving, active, quiet or at risk.
- Booking built for coaching. Availability rules, buffers, minimum notice, time-zone detection, two-way Google, Apple/iCloud and Outlook sync, built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet or Teams links, paid sessions and session credits, and intake questions on booking. See our scheduling software page.
- Agreements before the first call. Coaching agreements with e-signature, stored on the client record (coaching contracts).
- No platform fee and no contact ceiling. Payments go through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account with a 0% Coachful platform fee; plans are priced by clients, not by list size or learner count.
- Courses and community without a second login. Courses with modules, lessons, drip and completion tracking, plus a community feed, group chat, direct messages and cohort groups created automatically when someone enrolls in a program.

Here is a short walkthrough of how programs are built and delivered in Coachful.

Where Kartra or LearnWorlds beats Coachful
- SCORM, LTI and corporate learning: LearnWorlds supports them; they are not among Coachful's documented features. If you sell compliance training to companies, choose LearnWorlds.
- Interactive video and certificates at scale: LearnWorlds is the deeper course engine.
- PayPal: both Kartra and LearnWorlds connect PayPal. Coachful does not support PayPal.
- Helpdesk and live chat: Kartra includes a helpdesk on Growth and live chat on Professional. Coachful has no helpdesk product.
- Large affiliate programs: Coachful tracks affiliate links, clicks, conversions and revenue, but payouts are recorded manually rather than sent. Kartra and LearnWorlds both list affiliate tools.
- Your own App Store listing: Coachful's client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding, not under your own App Store account.
- Course marketplaces and non-coaching sites: Coachful is not a course marketplace or a general website builder, and it has no third-party plugins.
Coachful is also not HIPAA-certified and offers no BAA, so it is not for clinical records or insurance billing, and there is no permanent free plan. It does not integrate with Salesforce or HubSpot.
What else is in the membership
Coachful's website builder is section-based with a blog, custom domain, SEO settings, 30 designed homepage templates and an Import website option. Booking, application, lead-magnet and checkout funnels support pixels and UTM tracking, and email covers lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences with triggers, delays, branching and A/B splits. That is less marketing depth than Kartra, but enough for most coaching businesses.

Michelle, the built-in AI assistant, works from your live practice data: it builds programs, drafts emails and content, summarizes recorded sessions and briefs you before sessions. Questions and planning are included in your Coachful membership; confirmed builds and changes use AI credits. Coachful also tracks coaching hours and distinct clients against ICF ACC, PCC and MCC thresholds and exports an ICF client coaching log (ICF hour tracking).

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. On every plan, you can open Create and choose "We'll build it for you" to describe what you want: a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline and written material, email sequence, form, link in bio and more. You can attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files, and the Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. Nothing gets invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. One recent example: a leadership coach with a Squarespace renewal days away got one clean homepage with a repeated "talk with me" button. Read more about the free white-glove service.

How to start
Start a free trial, then request the white-glove build for your website or first program. Clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding, and a full client data export as a ZIP (roster, notes, check-ins, goals, habits, sessions and form responses) is available if you ever leave. Current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients. For a wider view, browse our coaching software overview or the comparison hub.
How should you choose in practice?
Write down where your revenue comes from, then trial the tool that fits it. A short checklist helps.
- List what you sell. If more than half your revenue is self-paced courses, start with LearnWorlds. If most of it comes from launches to a list, start with Kartra. If it comes from coaching clients through programs, start with a coaching platform.
- Count your list and learners. Kartra meters contacts (500, 2,500, 12,500, 25,000). LearnWorlds meters active learners a month (1,000 or 2,000 on self-serve plans). Project 12 months out, not today.
- Price the full stack. Add the booking tool, signing tool, habit app and community tool you would still need. That total, not the plan price, is the number to compare.
- Check exit costs. Kartra funnels and memberships do not move with you. Ask LearnWorlds support how a full export works before you build.
- Test the client side. During the trial, log in as a client on your phone and try to do a week's work. That is the experience your clients will judge you on.

What does a coach's week look like on each?
The daily workflow shows the difference more clearly than a feature list. Here is a typical week for an example coach with 15 clients in a 12-week program.
On Kartra: the coach sends the weekly email from a sequence, posts the new module in the membership, and books calls through Kartra's calendar (on Starter or above). Between calls, clients log habits in a separate app and check in through a form or chat group. The coach reviews three places to see who is falling behind.
On LearnWorlds: the new module drips automatically, with a quiz that confirms clients watched it. Calls use the live 1:1 and group sessions LearnWorlds lists on its plans. Habits and daily check-ins still live elsewhere, and progress means course completion, not behaviour change.
On a coaching platform: the program releases the week's goals, tasks and habits; clients check in morning and evening in one app; the coach opens the client list and sees who is thriving, active, quiet or at risk before the next session.

None of this makes Kartra or LearnWorlds bad tools. They are good at the jobs they were designed for. The point is to buy the tool whose design matches your week.
Frequently asked questions
Is Kartra or LearnWorlds cheaper?
LearnWorlds has the lower entry price: $29 a month for Starter versus $59 for Kartra Essentials, as listed in October 2026. LearnWorlds Starter charges $5 per paid enrollment, though, and Kartra Essentials takes 5% of sales, so the cheaper option depends on how many sales you make and at what price.
Can I run coaching programs on Kartra or LearnWorlds?
You can deliver content and host calls on both, but neither offers client habits, daily check-ins or per-client coaching plans. Most coaches add separate tools for those, or use a coaching platform that includes them.
Which has better course features, Kartra or LearnWorlds?
LearnWorlds. It lists interactive video, learning paths, certificates, quizzes, SCORM and LTI 1.3, while Kartra's courses are membership areas inside a marketing suite.
Which is better for email marketing?
Kartra. It lists unlimited email and SMS from Starter and more advanced automation on Growth. LearnWorlds caps mass emails at 2,000 a month on Pro Trainer and 5,000 on Learning Center.
What happens if I go over Kartra's contact limit?
Kartra's pricing page says your account upgrades automatically, with a reconciliation fee for the rest of the cycle, and that there are no add-ons to buy extra capacity. Plan your list growth before choosing a tier.
Does either have a mobile app for clients?
LearnWorlds offers a branded mobile app as a separately priced add-on. Our September 2026 notes say Kartra has no mobile app for students or admins. Coachful gives clients your branding inside the Coachful app.
Do Kartra and LearnWorlds offer free trials?
Kartra offers a 14-day free trial on any plan and a 30-day money-back guarantee. LearnWorlds offers a 30-day free trial and says no credit card is required; the school is scheduled for deletion if you do not upgrade.
What is Coachful's free white-glove service?
On every plan, you can ask the Coachful team to build your website, funnel, program, course outline, email sequence or other pieces inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. You attach references and files, and nothing is invented: gaps are left for you. It does not cover recording videos, logo design, ads or ongoing marketing.
When should I choose Kartra or LearnWorlds over Coachful?
Choose LearnWorlds if you sell SCORM-based or corporate training, or need deep interactive video and certificates. Choose Kartra if you need a helpdesk, PayPal, or very large email and SMS volume. Choose Coachful if you coach clients through programs and want one login for you and one app for them.
