Metricool vs Planoly for Coaches: Honest 2026 Comparison

In the metricool vs planoly decision, Metricool is the better pick if you want deep analytics, a shared inbox and room for several brands, and Planoly is the better pick if you plan Instagram visually and want a link-in-bio store that can sell your 1:1 sessions. Metricool has a usable free-forever plan and charges by brand; Planoly starts cheaper on paid plans and includes Creator Store with no Planoly cut of your sales. Neither one runs your coaching after the client pays: no programs, check-ins or client records.
That last point matters more for coaches than for most buyers of social tools. Your posts exist to fill a calendar of sessions and programs, so this guide compares the two tools head to head, then looks at Coachful as a third option for coaches who would rather run social, sales and delivery in one place. We make Coachful, so we have been careful to say where it loses, too. All vendor prices and features below are as listed in October 2026.

What is the short answer by use case?
Pick by the job you need done most often. If that job is "post consistently and understand what works," Metricool leads. If it is "make my Instagram grid look right and sell a call from my bio," Planoly leads.
- You manage more than one brand or a few client accounts: Metricool. Its plans are sized in brands (5, 10, 15, 25, 50), and Advanced adds team roles and post approval.
- You live on Instagram and care how the grid looks: Planoly. The visual grid planner is its core, and auto-posting covers Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads and Pinterest.
- You want to sell paid 1:1 calls or a digital product from your bio: Planoly's Creator Store, included on every paid plan.
- You want to answer comments and DMs from several networks in one place: Metricool's inbox, which covers Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and Google Business Profile on all plans, plus LinkedIn on paid plans.
- You want to spend nothing for now: Metricool's Free plan (20 posts a month, no LinkedIn) is more usable than Planoly's free mobile-app tier (10 uploads a month).
- You need booking, payments, programs and client delivery as well as social: neither. That is the gap Coachful fills, covered later in this guide.
How do Metricool, Planoly and Coachful compare side by side?
Ranked by what a coach running a practice needs: one login for the whole client journey, delivery between sessions, total stack cost, and setup effort.
| Tool | Best for | Entry price | Social publishing | Selling and booking | Client delivery |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Coaches who want social, sales and programs in one login | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients | Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads, YouTube from one calendar | Booking pages, Stripe or Razorpay checkout, contracts, funnels, website | Programs, habits, check-ins, courses, community, branded client app |
| Metricool | Analytics, multi-brand scheduling, shared inbox | Free; Starter $20/mo billed yearly ($25 monthly) | 10+ networks; X needs a $10/mo add-on | None; SmartLinks link-in-bio only | None |
| Planoly | Visual Instagram planning plus a bio storefront | Free (app, 10 uploads); Starter $14/mo billed yearly ($16 monthly) | Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest; X reminder-only | Creator Store: products, courses, memberships, paid 1:1 bookings | None beyond selling a course or membership |
If you only need a social tool, the real contest is the bottom two rows. If you need a business, read on to the third option. For a broader look at scheduler choices, see our comparisons of Metricool vs Buffer and Planoly vs Later.
How much do Metricool and Planoly cost?
Planoly is cheaper at the entry level: $14 a month billed yearly against Metricool's $20. Metricool is cheaper once you manage several brands, because its Starter plan already covers up to five.
| Plan | Billed yearly (per month) | Billed monthly | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients | Flat monthly plans that cancel in one click; a free trial | Lower plans cap clients, Pro is unlimited, team plans add coach seats; social planner, booking, payments and programs included in your Coachful membership |
| Metricool Free | $0 | $0 | 1 brand, 20 scheduled posts a month, 30 days of analytics, 5 AI credits; no LinkedIn, X or Flows |
| Metricool Starter (5 brands) | $20 | $25 | Up to 5 brands, unlimited publishing under fair use, unlimited analytics history, LinkedIn, Flows, PDF and PPT reports |
| Metricool Starter (10 brands) | $36 | $45 | As Starter, up to 10 brands |
| Metricool Advanced (15 brands) | $53 | $67 | Team and client roles, post approval, full X analytics, API, Looker Studio connector |
| Metricool Advanced (25 / 50 brands) | $85 / $159 | $107 / $210 | As Advanced, more brands |
| Planoly Free | $0 | $0 | Mobile app only, 10 uploads a month |
| Planoly Starter | $14 | $16 | 1 Social Set, 1 user, unlimited uploads, auto DMs, Creator Store, analytics |
| Planoly Growth | $24 | $28 | 2 Social Sets, 2 users; add Social Sets ($10/mo) and users ($5/mo) |
| Planoly Pro | $47 | $55 | 6 Social Sets, 6 users; cheaper add-ons ($8 per Social Set, $3 per user) |
A few details change the real bill.
- X costs extra on Metricool. Connecting an X account needs the $10 a month add-on, on paid plans only. Planoly does not auto-post to X at all; it sends a reminder so you post by hand.
- Team members need Metricool Advanced. Metricool prices by brand, not by user, and inviting an assistant requires Advanced ($53 a month yearly). Planoly Growth gives two users for $24.
- Planoly Starter cannot grow. It is fixed at one Social Set and one user with no add-ons; you upgrade to Growth to add either.
- Trials differ. Planoly lists a 14-day free trial on all paid plans. Metricool lists no standard paid trial; the Free plan plays that role.
- VAT and currency. Metricool's prices exclude VAT and its page shows different numbers in euros and dollars (Starter is €16 yearly against $20).

Here is an example for a solo coach who posts to Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn for one brand. On Metricool, LinkedIn rules out the Free plan, so the minimum is Starter at $240 a year ($20 x 12). On Planoly, Starter covers all three for $168 a year ($14 x 12). Add a part-time assistant and the picture flips: Metricool Advanced is $636 a year, Planoly Growth is $288. Planoly is cheaper for a single coach in this example; Metricool's value shows when you handle several brands. For another scheduler matchup, see Metricool vs Later.
Which is better for scheduling and publishing?
Metricool connects more networks; Planoly gives a stronger visual plan for Instagram. Both auto-publish, and both include AI help with captions.

Metricool connects Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Bluesky, Google Business Profile, Twitch and LinkedIn (paid plans), with X through the add-on. It also connects a website or blog and Facebook, Google and TikTok ads accounts, so one calendar can hold organic posts and paid campaigns. The Free plan caps you at 20 scheduled posts a month for one brand; paid plans offer "unlimited content publishing" under a fair use policy. Starter adds Google Drive and Canva integration, which helps if you design posts in Canva.

Planoly is built around a visual grid: you drag posts into place and see how your Instagram profile will look before anything goes live. Paid plans auto-post to Instagram, Facebook Pages, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads and Pinterest. X is reminder-only, and Bluesky and Google Business Profile are not supported. Every paid plan includes unlimited uploads, a media library, an AI idea generator and a caption writer. Growth and Pro can add a Content Marketplace subscription of editable Canva templates; Planoly does not list its price.
For a coach, the choice usually comes down to where your clients find you. If Google Business Profile matters (a local fitness or wellness coach, for example) or you post to Bluesky, only Metricool covers it. If Instagram is your shop window and you plan in weekly visual batches, Planoly's grid suits that habit. If you are weighing a third scheduler too, our Buffer vs Planoly comparison covers per-channel pricing.
Which has better analytics and reporting?
Metricool, clearly. Analytics is what Metricool was built for, while Planoly's analytics cover the basics with shareable reports.
Metricool keeps 30 days of analytics on Free and unlimited history from Starter. You can track up to 5 competitor profiles on Free and up to 100 on Starter. Starter adds PDF and PPT reports and 3 campaign dashboards, and Advanced adds customizable report templates, complete X analytics, a Looker Studio connector and API access (usable through Zapier or Make). An Advanced Analytics add-on starts at $12 a month on Starter. Lists of posts, competitors, campaigns and SmartLinks metrics can be downloaded as CSV, and the content calendar exports as CSV too.
Planoly includes analytics with shareable reports on every paid plan. An older Planoly guide documents CSV export of overview, audience, engagement and post media data. It does not list competitor tracking or ads reporting.
Most solo coaches do not need competitor benchmarks. What they need is the answer to "which posts led to a booked call?", and neither social tool can answer that by itself, because neither sees your bookings or client records. That gap is why it helps to keep the social link and the booking page in the same system, or at least tag your links with UTM parameters so your website analytics can join the dots.
How do their Instagram DM automations compare?
Both now send automatic Instagram DMs when someone comments a keyword. Planoly includes it on every paid plan; Metricool includes it from Starter as part of Flows, which also covers other networks.
Metricool Flows handles Instagram comment-to-DM and keyword DM replies, TikTok comment replies and X auto-reposts. Metricool's page says Flows comes at "no extra cost for a limited time," so it is worth checking whether that still holds when you sign up. Flows is not on the Free plan.
Planoly auto DMs send automatic responses triggered by keywords in comments, DMs or both. They are included from Starter. Planoly does not list a shared inbox for other networks, so replies to Facebook or TikTok comments happen in those apps.
For coaches, the classic use is "comment GUIDE and I will send you the free download" or "comment CALL for my booking link." Either tool can send the link. What happens after the click is up to whatever sits at the other end: a download page, a booking page, a checkout. If you want a dedicated DM tool with lead forms inside the chat, those exist too (ManyChat and LinkDM are common names), but they add another subscription.
Can you sell coaching with Metricool or Planoly?
With Planoly, partly: Creator Store can sell paid 1:1 consultations, digital products, courses and memberships from your bio. With Metricool, no: SmartLinks is a link-in-bio page that points elsewhere and does not take payments.
Planoly Creator Store is included on every paid plan. It sells digital downloads, e-courses, memberships, live events, merch and paid 1:1 consultations, with checkout through your own Stripe or PayPal account. Planoly says it "takes no cut of your sales"; you still pay the processor's fees. Paid 1:1 bookings support availability windows, buffers, Google Calendar sync, Zoom or Google Meet links and self-rescheduling by clients. Outlook sync is not mentioned. Planoly's help center labels some booking extras (custom confirmation emails, a secondary calendar for conflict checks) as Pro features. A CRM inside Creator Store stores customer contacts and sends automated email flows and broadcasts.
Metricool SmartLinks is on every plan, with unlimited links on Free and multiple link-in-bio pages from Starter. It is a traffic page: you link to your booking tool, your checkout and your lead magnet, and Metricool shows you the click metrics.
Planoly's store is a real advantage for a new coach selling a single call or a small digital product. Its limits show once you deliver an ongoing program: Planoly does not describe structured coaching programs, session notes, contracts or a client portal. After the sale you still need somewhere to run the coaching. Our Planoly alternatives for coaches guide covers the tools coaches move to when they hit that wall.
How do they handle teams, brands and assistants?
Metricool is built for agencies and multi-brand work; Planoly is built for one creator with a small team. Pick the model that matches how you work.
- Metricool counts brands. A brand is one business or client with one profile per network. Starter covers up to 5 or 10 brands but includes no team or client management. Advanced (from 15 brands) adds unlimited team members, roles and a post approval system.
- Planoly counts Social Sets (one account per network) and users. Starter is 1 and 1, Growth is 2 and 2, Pro is 6 and 6, with paid add-ons on Growth and Pro.
A coach who also manages social for a partner business or a few clients might like Metricool's 5-brand Starter. A coach with one brand and a virtual assistant gets there for less with Planoly Growth.
What does the client experience look like with each?
With Metricool, your client never sees the tool; they see your posts and your link-in-bio page. With Planoly, a buyer also sees your Creator Store checkout and booking page. In neither case does the client get a place to follow a program, log habits or see their progress.
That is fine if social is only the top of your funnel and you already run delivery somewhere else. It becomes a problem when the somewhere else is a mix of a booking app, a payment link, a contract tool, a course host and a group chat. Each extra login is a place a new client can get lost in their first week.
Public reviewers rate the two differently. As listed on Trustpilot in October 2026, Metricool scores 4.1 from 690 reviews and Planoly 3.2 from 61 reviews. Small review counts swing easily, so treat these as a signal to read recent reviews yourself rather than a verdict.
Which should you pick for which kind of coach?
Match the tool to your stage and your main channel. The table puts the common coach profiles side by side.
| Tool | Pick it if you are... | Skip it if... |
|---|---|---|
| Coachful | A coach who sells sessions or programs and wants social posting, Instagram DM automation, booking, payments and delivery in one login | You need TikTok or Pinterest publishing, analytics dashboards or a unified social inbox |
| Metricool | A coach on several networks who wants analytics, competitor tracking, a shared inbox or more than one brand | You want to sell from your bio or need a visual grid first |
| Planoly | An Instagram-first coach who plans visually and wants to sell a call or digital product from the bio | You post to X, Bluesky or Google Business Profile, or need deep reporting |
- New coach, Instagram only, one offer: Planoly Starter, or Metricool Free if you can live without LinkedIn and with 20 posts a month.
- Business or executive coach on LinkedIn: both publish to LinkedIn on paid plans; Metricool's reporting helps if you need to show results.
- Local fitness or wellness coach: Metricool, for Google Business Profile publishing and inbox replies.
- Coach running social for other businesses on the side: Metricool Starter (5 brands) or Advanced if you need client approval.
- Coach delivering multi-week programs: either tool for social only, plus a coaching platform. Or a coaching platform with a social planner built in.
For larger teams that want enterprise reporting, our Metricool vs Hootsuite and Hootsuite vs Planoly comparisons go further.
Is there a third option? Coachful, honestly
Yes, if social media is one part of a coaching business rather than the business itself. Coachful is a coaching platform with a social planner and Instagram automations built in, so posts, DMs, bookings, payments and client delivery share one login and one set of client records.

What it is. One subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant called Michelle. Coaches get one login; clients get one app with the coach's branding. It is built for coaches who deliver programs, not just sessions, for solo coaches growing into a small team, and for coaches replacing 4 to 6 tools. The company is based in Tallinn, Estonia.
Social planner. Under Sell > How you reach them > Social planner, Michelle helps with post ideas and captions, then you schedule and publish to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads and YouTube from one calendar. Each network publishes separately, with a per-network retry and a notification if one fails. X is included in your Coachful membership rather than sold as an add-on.
Instagram automations. Once you connect your Instagram professional account, automations trigger on a DM, a comment on a post (optionally only when it contains chosen keywords), a story reply, a mention, or a new follower where Meta supports it. Actions send a DM, reply publicly to the comment, send a DM with buttons or quick replies, or send an AI-written reply (1 AI credit per reply). The difference from Metricool and Planoly is where the person lands: comment a keyword, get your booking link, lead magnet or checkout, and they appear in the same Coachful lead and client records you coach from.

Selling and booking. Booking pages handle availability rules, buffers, minimum notice and time-zone detection, with two-way Google, Apple/iCloud and Outlook calendar sync and built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet or Teams links. Payments run through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account: one-time, subscriptions, payment plans, order bumps, coupons, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Coachful charges a 0% platform fee on your sales (since August 2026); you pay only processing. Coaching agreements with e-signature go out before the first call. Funnels, a section-based website builder with 30 homepage templates, and email sequences sit in the same account. See the payments, scheduling and website builder pages for detail.

Delivery between sessions. This is the part neither Metricool nor Planoly attempts. Multi-week programs carry weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks. Courses, a community feed, group chat and cohort groups created on enrollment all live in the client's branded home. Each client record holds goals, check-ins, habits, notes, intake answers, payments and sessions, with a status of thriving, active, quiet or at risk, so you can see who needs a nudge.
Here is a short walkthrough of how a client journey is set up:

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. On every plan, you can ask the Coachful team to build things for you from Create > We'll build it for you. Describe a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline, email sequence, link in bio or automation, attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files (logos, photos, brand guides, copy), and the team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. Nothing gets invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. Recent builds include a five-page site in sage and cream for a menopause and midlife health coach starting from nothing, with every button leading to a free 20-minute consultation, and a 12-week mentorship sales page, a free start-up-guide funnel and rewritten follow-up emails for a business mentor to beauty professionals. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. Read more in our white-glove service guide.

When Coachful beats both. You sell sessions or programs, and you want the Instagram comment, the booking, the payment, the contract and the program to connect without copy-pasting between tools. You post to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads or YouTube. You would rather pay one subscription than a scheduler plus a booking app plus a course host (Current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients).
When it does not. Coachful does not publish to TikTok or Pinterest, has no social analytics dashboards and no unified social inbox, so a coach whose growth depends on TikTok, Pinterest or competitor benchmarking should keep Metricool or Planoly for that job. It has no permanent free plan, so Metricool Free is cheaper if you only want to schedule a few posts. It is not HIPAA-certified, has no PayPal checkout (Planoly's Creator Store supports PayPal), and the client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding rather than under your own App Store account. It is also not built for managing social for other businesses; Metricool's multi-brand plans are.

How to start. Start a free trial, then use the white-glove build to have your site, funnel or first program set up from what you send. Your clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding. If you are leaving another tool later, a full client data export as a ZIP is available. You can compare Coachful with other platforms on our comparison hub or read the coaching software overview; brand-new coaches may find the page for new coaches useful.
How do you choose in under ten minutes?
Answer four questions in order, and the choice usually makes itself.
- Do you need to sell or deliver coaching in the same tool? If yes, look at a coaching platform with social built in. If you only need to post, continue.
- Which networks matter? X, Bluesky or Google Business Profile point to Metricool. Pinterest and TikTok are on both. Instagram-first with a visual grid points to Planoly.
- How many brands and people? Several brands point to Metricool. One brand with an assistant points to Planoly Growth.
- How much reporting do you need? Client reports, competitor tracking or Looker Studio point to Metricool. Basic shareable reports are fine on Planoly.
Whatever you choose, put a tracked link in your bio and in every automated DM, and check monthly which posts turned into conversations and which conversations turned into clients. That single habit tells you more than any dashboard.
Frequently asked questions
Is Metricool or Planoly better for coaches?
Metricool is better for coaches who post to many networks, want strong analytics or manage several brands. Planoly is better for Instagram-first coaches who plan visually and want to sell a call or digital product from their bio. If you also need booking, payments and programs, a coaching platform with a social planner, such as Coachful, covers more of the job.
Which is cheaper, Metricool or Planoly?
For one brand, Planoly's Starter plan is cheaper at $14 a month billed yearly ($16 monthly) against Metricool Starter at $20 ($25 monthly). Metricool has the more generous free plan, and it becomes better value when you manage up to five brands on Starter. Adding a team member favours Planoly, because Metricool requires Advanced for that.
Does Metricool or Planoly have a free plan?
Both do. Metricool Free covers 1 brand, 20 scheduled posts a month and 30 days of analytics, but excludes LinkedIn and X. Planoly's free tier lives in the mobile app and allows 10 uploads a month; its paid plans also have a 14-day free trial.
Can I sell coaching sessions with Planoly?
Yes, Planoly's Creator Store sells paid 1:1 consultations with availability windows, buffers, Google Calendar sync and Zoom or Google Meet links, through your own Stripe or PayPal account. Planoly takes no cut of sales; processor fees still apply. It does not describe structured programs, session notes or a client portal for what happens after the booking.
Do Metricool and Planoly automate Instagram DMs?
Yes. Planoly's auto DMs reply to keywords in comments, DMs or both on every paid plan. Metricool Flows sends Instagram comment-to-DM and keyword DM replies from Starter and also handles TikTok comment replies. Coachful's Instagram automations do the same core job and drop the person into your lead and client records.
Can Metricool or Planoly post to X?
Metricool can, through an X add-on at $10 a month per account on paid plans. Planoly does not auto-post to X; it sends a reminder so you publish manually. Coachful's social planner publishes to X as part of your membership.
Is Coachful a replacement for Metricool or Planoly?
For many coaches, yes: it schedules posts to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads and YouTube and runs Instagram automations next to booking, payments and programs. It is not a replacement if you need TikTok or Pinterest publishing, social analytics dashboards, a unified social inbox or multi-brand agency management.
What is Coachful's free white-glove service?
On every plan, the Coachful team will build a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline, email sequence or automation inside your account from the brief and files you send, usually within about 24 hours. Nothing is invented, and gaps are left for you to fill. It does not cover recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing.
Can I use Metricool or Planoly alongside Coachful?
Yes. Some coaches keep Metricool for analytics or TikTok and Pinterest publishing, and run booking, payments and delivery in Coachful. Point your link-in-bio and DM links to your Coachful booking page or funnel so new leads land in your client records.
