upcoach vs Kajabi: Which Fits Coaches in 2026?

In the upcoach vs Kajabi decision, the short answer is that they solve different problems. upcoach is built to run structured group and cohort coaching programs, with progress dashboards and AI reports, and it charges a 1% to 2% transaction fee below its top self-serve plan. Kajabi is built to sell knowledge products: courses, communities, funnels and email, starting at $179 a month. If your business is delivering programs to people, upcoach is closer. If your business is selling content to an audience, Kajabi is closer. If you need both, plus 1:1 booking, contracts and daily client check-ins, neither covers the whole job, and that is where a third option comes in.
We make Coachful, a coaching platform, so we have a stake in this comparison. We have kept the upcoach and Kajabi facts to what each vendor lists on its own pricing and help pages in October 2026 and what public reviewers report. We have not tested either product hands-on for this article, and we say so wherever it matters.

What is the short answer for each kind of coach?
Pick by what you actually deliver week to week, not by the longest feature list. Here is the quick version before the detail.
- You run cohort or corporate group programs with a sponsor watching progress: upcoach fits the shape. Its roles (Admin, Facilitator, Sponsor) and progress dashboards are designed for that.
- You sell courses, memberships and digital products to a large email list: Kajabi fits the shape. Funnels, landing pages and marketing email are unlimited on every plan.
- You coach individuals and small groups, take bookings, send contracts, and want clients doing something between sessions: neither is a complete fit. upcoach does not list contracts or invoicing, and Kajabi has no habit tracking or daily client check-ins. Coachful covers that whole journey in one login.
- You are early, with fewer than 25 clients and a tight budget: upcoach Starter is cheaper than Kajabi Basic on paper, but its 2% fee grows with your revenue. Run the numbers in the pricing section below.
For a wider field, our guides to upcoach alternatives and Kajabi alternatives for coaches rank more options.
How do upcoach and Kajabi compare side by side?
We rank on four criteria that matter most to working coaches: one login for the whole client journey, delivery between sessions, total stack cost, and setup effort (including whether someone will build it for you).
| Platform | Built for | 1:1 booking and calendar sync | Habits and daily check-ins | Courses | Website, funnels, email | Contracts and invoices |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Coaches who deliver programs, not just sessions | Yes, with Google, Apple and Outlook two-way sync | Yes: habits, morning and evening check-ins, streaks | Yes, with drip and completion tracking | Yes: site builder, funnels, sequences | Yes: e-signed agreements, invoice per transaction |
| upcoach | Group and cohort coaching programs | Not listed on its pricing page | Progress dashboards and AI reports | Program content inside its platform | Custom domain from Pro; no funnels or email listed | Not offered (older profile) |
| Kajabi | Selling courses, communities and digital products | Coaching sold as a product; no per-client plans | No | Yes, its core strength | Yes: unlimited funnels, landing pages, marketing email | Checkout and payments; no coaching agreements listed |
The table hides one big point: these two tools are not really competitors. upcoach organises people moving through a program. Kajabi organises products moving to buyers. Most coaches end up needing a slice of each, which is why the stack question matters as much as the feature list.
What does upcoach do well, and where does it stop?
upcoach is a group and cohort coaching program platform. As listed in October 2026, every plan includes unlimited programs, progress dashboards, AI insights and AI impact reports, plus access through Claude or ChatGPT via MCP, which lets you query your program data from those assistants.

Its strongest idea is the role model. From the Pro plan, upcoach lists multi-role access with Admin, Facilitator and Sponsor roles. The Sponsor role points to the use case upcoach is built around: a company or organisation pays for a leadership or team program and wants to see progress. If you sell to HR departments, that matters. The Business and Scale plans add room for more participants and seats, and Enterprise adds a branded mobile app in the app stores and firm-wide pilots.
Where it stops, based on what upcoach lists:
- No contracts or invoicing. An older profile of upcoach notes neither is offered, so you would need a separate tool for agreements and invoices. Our coaching contracts page explains why agreements before the first call matter.
- No marketing layer listed. Its pricing page does not list a website builder, funnels or email sequences. You would need a site and an email tool on top.
- Branding is gated. Brand colours, logo and a custom domain start on Pro. A branded app store app is Enterprise only, at a custom price.
- A fee on your revenue. upcoach takes 2% on Starter and 1% on Pro and Business, on top of Stripe. Only Scale and Enterprise are fee-free.
- Participant caps. Starter covers 25 active participants and one team seat. That is a real ceiling for a growing group coach.
On reviews, upcoach's Trustpilot page had no reviews when we checked in October 2026. An older Capterra profile showed 4.9 from 8 reviews, a small sample. Our upcoach pricing breakdown goes plan by plan.
What does Kajabi do well, and where does it stop?
Kajabi is a course, community, website, funnel and email platform for selling knowledge products. It is one of the most established names in that category, and for a coach who earns mostly from courses and memberships, it does a lot under one subscription.

Every plan includes unlimited funnels, landing pages and marketing emails, which is genuinely generous. Kajabi Payments is built in, and Kajabi also accepts PayPal. The Growth plan adds an affiliate program and 500 AI credits; Pro adds full customisation, dedicated support, three websites and an App Store app for multiple brands.
Where it stops for a coach:
- No per-client coaching layer. Kajabi has no habit tracking or daily client check-ins. Coaching is sold as products and communities, not as individual plans for each client.
- Tight Basic limits. Basic caps you at 5 products, 2,500 contacts, one community, two admin users and 0 AI credits. Five products fill up fast once you add a course, a membership, a coaching package and a lead magnet.
- A surcharge on other processors. If you use a payment provider other than Kajabi Payments or PayPal, Kajabi adds its own fee: 2% on Basic, 1% on Growth, 0.5% on Pro.
- Price. At $179 a month on monthly billing, Basic is more than three times upcoach Starter.
- Branded app tier. Kajabi's add-ons list describes the branded app as included and worth "$199/mo", but the October 2026 comparison table shows it on Pro only.
Kajabi's Trustpilot score was 3.4 from 2,347 reviews when we checked in October 2026. That is a large sample with mixed sentiment. Our full Kajabi review and Kajabi pricing guide cover it in more depth.
How much do upcoach and Kajabi cost?
upcoach is cheaper to start but charges a percentage of sales on its lower plans; Kajabi costs more per month but does not add its own fee if you use Kajabi Payments or PayPal. All prices below are as listed in October 2026, in US dollars.

| Platform and plan | Monthly price | Main limits | Platform fee on sales |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients | Lower plans cap clients; Pro is unlimited; team plans add seats | 0%; only Stripe or Razorpay processing |
| upcoach Starter | $49 | 25 active participants, 1 seat, 3 AI reports a month, 100 GB | 2% |
| upcoach Pro | $99 | 100 participants, 2 seats, 15 reports, 250 GB | 1% |
| upcoach Business | $199 | 250 participants, 5 seats, 50 reports, 500 GB | 1% |
| upcoach Scale | $399 | 500 participants, 10 seats, 1 TB | 0% |
| Kajabi Basic | $179 ($143 billed annually) | 5 products, 2,500 contacts, 1 community, 2 admins, 0 AI credits | 0% with Kajabi Payments; 2% on other processors |
| Kajabi Growth | $249 ($199 billed annually) | 50 products, 25,000 contacts, 11 admins, 500 AI credits | 0% with Kajabi Payments; 1% on other processors |
| Kajabi Pro | $499 ($399 billed annually) | Unlimited products, 100,000 contacts, 3 websites, 26 admins | 0% with Kajabi Payments; 0.5% on other processors |
A few details that change the real number:
- upcoach's annual toggle. The page says "2 months free" on annual billing, but the annual totals it shows equal twelve times the monthly price ($588 for Starter). Ask upcoach which figure applies before you pay a year up front.
- upcoach add-ons. Extra participants cost $99 a month per 100, and extra seats $99 a month each, on Business and Scale only. Pro cannot add seats.
- Kajabi Payments rates. For US entities, Kajabi Payments charges 2.9% + $0.30 on Basic, 2.8% + $0.30 on Growth and 2.7% + $0.30 on Pro. That is card processing, comparable to what you would pay Stripe directly.
- Kajabi add-ons. Extra contacts cost $125 a month per 25,000. An AI credit top-up of $15 for 500 credits is marked as coming.
- Trials and guarantees. upcoach offers a 14-day trial with no card and a 14-day money-back guarantee on the first paid subscription. Kajabi's help centre lists a 14-day trial where a card is optional (if you enter one, Kajabi places an authorisation hold and charges when the trial ends), plus a 30-day money-back guarantee on every plan. Some Kajabi features, such as bulk contact import and test emails, stay locked until you activate a paid plan.

A worked example at 25 clients
To make the fees concrete, take an illustrative coach with 25 clients paying $300 a month each, so $7,500 a month in sales. These are example numbers, not a benchmark.
| Platform and plan | Subscription | Platform fee at $7,500 in sales | Monthly total before card processing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients | None | Subscription only |
| upcoach Starter | $49 | 2% = $150 | $199 |
| upcoach Pro | $99 | 1% = $75 | $174 |
| Kajabi Basic (Kajabi Payments) | $179 | None | $179 |
| Kajabi Basic (Stripe directly) | $179 | 2% = $150 | $329 |
Two things stand out. First, at this revenue upcoach Pro is cheaper than Starter, because the 1% fee saves more than the extra $50 subscription. Second, neither figure includes the rest of the stack. With upcoach you still need a website, email marketing, a scheduler and a contracts tool. With Kajabi you still need a scheduler with calendar sync and something for per-client accountability. Those extra subscriptions often cost more than the platform itself.
How do the programs and courses compare?
upcoach is built around programs that groups move through together; Kajabi is built around courses that buyers consume on their own. That difference shapes almost every other feature.
In upcoach, the program is the unit. You run unlimited programs on every plan, track participant progress on dashboards, and generate AI impact reports (3 a month on Starter, 15 on Pro, 50 on Business). Those reports are useful when you need to show a sponsor or an organisation what changed. Selling standalone courses to the public is not what upcoach lists.
In Kajabi, the product is the unit. You build courses, memberships and communities, then sell them through funnels and checkout pages. That is excellent for a scalable content business. It is weaker for coaching, because a Kajabi course does not know whether a specific client did their habit this morning or how their week felt. Our article on delivering audio courses without Kajabi shows a lighter way to handle content for coaching clients.
Coachful sits between the two. It runs multi-week programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins and streaks, and it also builds courses with modules, lessons, drip and completion tracking, delivered into the client's branded home. See the course platform for coaches and group coaching software pages for detail.

How do booking, payments and contracts compare?
Kajabi handles payments well and upcoach handles them through Stripe, but neither lists the full booking-to-contract flow a 1:1 coach needs. This is the gap most coaches fill with extra tools.
Booking. upcoach's listed plan features do not include booking pages with calendar sync. Kajabi sells coaching as a product, without per-client plans. Either way, confirm in the trial exactly how a client books a call, gets a reminder and lands on a video link. If it takes a separate scheduler, add that cost to your total.
Payments. upcoach uses Stripe, plus its own 1% to 2% fee below Scale. Kajabi offers Kajabi Payments and PayPal, and surcharges other processors. Kajabi is the only one of the two that supports PayPal, which matters if your buyers expect it.
Contracts and invoices. upcoach does not offer contracts or invoicing, according to an older profile. Kajabi's plan features, as listed in October 2026, do not include coaching agreements with e-signature.
Coachful covers all three: booking pages with availability rules, buffers and time-zone detection; two-way Google, Apple and Outlook calendar sync; built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet and Teams links; payments through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account with payment plans, coupons and Stripe Tax; and coaching agreements e-signed before the first call and stored on the client record. Coachful does not support PayPal. More on the scheduling software page.

How do marketing, website and email compare?
Kajabi is far ahead of upcoach here: unlimited funnels, landing pages and marketing email are on every plan, while upcoach's pricing page lists none of them.
If you run launches, webinars and evergreen funnels, Kajabi's marketing tools are a real reason to choose it. The limit to watch is contacts: 2,500 on Basic, 25,000 on Growth, and $125 a month for each extra 25,000. A coach with a growing list can hit the Basic cap before the product cap.
With upcoach, you get a custom domain and brand colours from Pro, which covers the participant-facing space, but you would build your public website and email sequences elsewhere. For many corporate-facing coaches that is fine, because sales happen through proposals rather than funnels.
Coachful includes a section-based website builder with 30 designed homepage templates, a blog and custom domain; booking, application, lead-magnet and checkout funnels with pixels and UTM tracking; and email lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences with branching and A/B splits. Our Coachful vs Kajabi funnels and email comparison goes deeper.

What is the client experience like on each?
On upcoach, clients are participants inside a program; on Kajabi, clients are members or customers inside a course or community. The daily experience follows from that.
upcoach. Participants work through program content, and the coach and any sponsors see progress on dashboards. Brand colours and logo arrive on Pro. A branded mobile app in the app stores is Enterprise only. If your clients are employees enrolled by their company, that structure is clear and professional.
Kajabi. Customers log in to watch courses and join communities. Pro adds a branded App Store app. Kajabi's Trustpilot score of 3.4 suggests experiences with the company vary. For coaching clients, the gap is between sessions: there is no habit tracking or daily check-in prompting them to act.
Coachful. Clients get one branded home, inside the Coachful app with your branding, where their programs, habits, check-ins, sessions, courses, documents and community all live. You see each client's status (thriving, active, quiet or at risk) on their record, so you know who to reach out to before they drift.

Community is the other piece. Kajabi includes one community on Basic and Growth and three on Pro. upcoach centres on the program group rather than an open community. Coachful includes a community feed, group chat, direct messages and video events, and creates a cohort group automatically when someone enrols in a program.

Which should you pick for which kind of coach?
Match the tool to your revenue model. The table below sums up where each one is the right call.
| Platform | Pick it if you | Skip it if you |
|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Coach individuals or groups, want booking, contracts, payments, programs with habits and check-ins, courses, community, website and email under one login | Need HIPAA compliance, PayPal, or an app under your own App Store account |
| upcoach | Sell cohort or leadership programs to organisations that want progress reports and a sponsor view | Need contracts, invoices, a public website or email marketing in the same tool |
| Kajabi | Earn mainly from courses, memberships and digital products sold through funnels to a big list | Coach 1:1 and need daily accountability, or want to stay under a few hundred dollars a month |
Some quick pointers by niche:
- Executive and leadership coaches selling to companies: upcoach's Sponsor role is useful. Coachful's team plans, ICF hour tracking and client records cover the same ground for coaches who also sell direct. See Coachful for executive coaches.
- Business coaches with a course plus a mastermind: Kajabi fits the course, but you will bolt on booking. See Coachful for business coaches.
- Life, health and mindset coaches whose results depend on daily follow-through: neither upcoach nor Kajabi tracks daily habits per client the way a check-in system does.
If Kajabi is the one you are leaving, our Kajabi alternative page and the Coachful vs Kajabi comparison lay out what moves over.
Is there a third option that beats both?
For most independent coaches, yes: Coachful combines the program delivery upcoach is good at with the selling tools Kajabi is good at, and adds booking, contracts and daily check-ins that neither lists.

What Coachful is. Coachful is a coaching platform. One subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant, with one login for the coach and one branded app for the client. It is built for coaches who deliver programs, not just sessions; solo coaches growing into a small team; and coaches replacing four to six tools. The company is based in Tallinn, Estonia, and holds a Trustpilot score of 4.5 from 21 reviews.
This walkthrough shows how a client moves through a program in Coachful:
Where it beats upcoach. Contracts with e-signature, invoices, booking with calendar sync, a website, funnels and email sequences are all included in your Coachful membership, so you do not stack four extra tools on top. There is no Coachful platform fee on sales (0% since August 2026); you pay only Stripe or Razorpay processing. Your branding applies across the client's home from the start.
Where it beats Kajabi. Coachful runs per-client programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins and streaks, so clients have something to do between sessions and you can see who is slipping. 1:1 booking with two-way calendar sync is built in. Michelle, the built-in AI assistant, works from your live practice data: it builds programs, drafts emails, summarises recorded sessions and briefs you before each call. Coachful also tracks ICF hours against ACC, PCC and MCC thresholds.

Where it does not beat them. Be honest about the limits:
- Kajabi accepts PayPal; Coachful does not.
- upcoach Enterprise and Kajabi Pro can put an app in the App Store under your brand; Coachful's client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding.
- Coachful is not a course marketplace and has no third-party plugins. If you want a pure content business with a huge list, Kajabi's product and contact tiers are built for that scale.
- Coachful is not HIPAA-certified, and it is not for clinical records or insurance billing.
- Coachful has no multi-stage sales deal board for large teams and no Salesforce or HubSpot integration, which some corporate programs expect.
- Its affiliate program tracks links, clicks, conversions and revenue, but payouts are recorded manually rather than sent by Coachful.
Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. On every plan, you can ask the Coachful team to build things for you inside your own account: a website, a funnel, a sales page, a program, a course outline and written material, an email sequence, a form, a lead quiz and more. You describe what you want from Create, attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files, and the team usually builds it within about 24 hours. Nothing gets invented: no fake testimonials, credentials or prices; gaps are left for you to fill. One somatic coach leaving Kajabi had their homepage and About page rebuilt and the contact form connected. A leadership coach with a Squarespace renewal days away got one clean homepage with a repeated "talk with me" button. It does not include recording videos, logo design or ad management. Read more about the free white-glove service.

How to start. Begin a free trial, then request a white-glove build for your site or first program. During onboarding, your clients, programs and content are imported for you. Current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients. Monthly plans cancel in one click.
How hard is it to switch between them?
Switching away from either is mostly a data-export job, and both let you take your client list out as CSV. Course content and funnels are the harder part.
upcoach exports clients to CSV, including custom fields, from its Admin Panel (older profile). Kajabi emails CSV exports for contacts, subscriptions, sales and members, but course content has to be downloaded manually asset by asset, and an older profile notes data is removed 90 days after cancellation. Export before you cancel.
Coachful gives a full client data export as a ZIP (roster, notes, check-ins, goals, habits, sessions, form responses) plus course export, so you are not locked in. Coming in, the onboarding team imports clients, programs and content for you.
Frequently asked questions
Is upcoach cheaper than Kajabi?
On the subscription alone, yes: upcoach Starter is $49 a month and Kajabi Basic is $179, as listed in October 2026. But upcoach adds a 2% fee on Starter and 1% on Pro and Business, and you will likely need extra tools for a website, email and contracts. At higher revenue the gap narrows quickly.
Does upcoach charge transaction fees?
Yes. upcoach charges 2% on Starter and 1% on Pro and Business, on top of Stripe processing. Scale ($399 a month) and Enterprise have no upcoach fee.
Does Kajabi charge transaction fees?
Not if you use Kajabi Payments or PayPal; you pay only processing (2.9% + $0.30 on Basic for US entities). If you use another payment provider, Kajabi adds 2% on Basic, 1% on Growth or 0.5% on Pro.
Can I run 1:1 coaching on Kajabi?
You can sell coaching as a product, but Kajabi has no habit tracking, daily check-ins or per-client plans. Most 1:1 coaches pair it with a separate scheduler and accountability tool.
Does upcoach have courses and email marketing?
upcoach delivers program content to participants, but its pricing page does not list a course marketplace, funnels or email sequences. Plan on a separate website and email tool if you sell to the public.
Which has a better mobile app?
Both reserve a branded app store app for higher tiers: upcoach on Enterprise (custom price) and Kajabi on Pro ($499 a month) per its October 2026 comparison table. Coachful's client app carries your branding inside the Coachful app on every plan.
Do upcoach and Kajabi offer free trials?
Both list 14-day trials. upcoach's needs no card and adds a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first paid subscription. Kajabi's card is optional and it offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on every plan.
What is Coachful's free white-glove service?
It is a done-for-you build included on every Coachful plan. You describe what you need (a website, funnel, program, email sequence and more), attach references, and the team builds it in your account, usually within about 24 hours. It does not include video recording, logo design or ad management.
Is Coachful a good fit for corporate group programs?
For many, yes: team plans add coach seats with per-coach availability and staff permissions, cohort groups are created automatically on enrolment, and ICF hours are tracked. If the client organisation requires a Salesforce or HubSpot integration, Coachful does not offer one.
Can I move from Kajabi to Coachful without rebuilding everything myself?
Yes. During onboarding your clients, programs and content are imported for you, and the white-glove team can rebuild your site or funnels. Export your Kajabi contacts and course files before you cancel, since an older profile notes Kajabi removes data 90 days after cancellation.
