Wix Free Trial (2026): Length, Card Rules and What It Costs

No, there is no Wix free trial for Premium plans: Wix's support page says "We do not offer a free trial for Premium plans." What you get instead is a free site with no credit card required and a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first upgrade. As listed in October 2026, paid plans run from $17 to $159 per month when billed annually, and a coach who wants to take payments starts at $29 per month, or $348 paid up front for the year.
That combination works better than the missing trial suggests, as long as you know what each stage can test. The free site shows you the editor and templates. Only a paid plan, with your card on file and a yearly charge, shows you bookings, payments and programs working together. This guide covers the length of each option, the card rules, what happens when the refund window closes, and what it costs a coach to stay. We make Coachful, a coaching platform that competes with Wix for some of these coaches, so we show our sources and say plainly where Wix is the better fit.

Does Wix have a free trial?
Not of its paid plans. Wix has two separate things that people often call a trial, and neither one is a time-limited pass to the paid features.
- The free plan. A real, ongoing plan with hosting, the drag-and-drop editor, no-code design features and templates. Wix labels it "No credit card required." It carries Wix branding and cannot use your own domain.
- The 14-day money-back guarantee. It applies to the initial upgrade to a Premium plan. You pay first, use the paid features, and can ask for your money back within the window if you are not satisfied.
The practical difference from a true trial is cash flow and commitment. On a typical software trial, the paid features open and nothing is charged until the end. On Wix, the charge comes first, and the plans page states that displayed prices are "for yearly subscriptions, paid in full at the time of purchase." If you want to see how competing platforms handle this, our roundup of coaching software with a free trial compares the terms side by side.
The Wix free trial question in one table
| Question | Free plan | 14-day money-back guarantee |
|---|---|---|
| How long does it last? | No end date appears on the pages we reviewed | 14 days |
| Is a card required? | No: "No credit card required" | Yes, you are buying a plan |
| What do you pay at the start? | $0 | The plan price, from $204 for Light or $348 for Core on yearly billing |
| Can you use your own domain? | No | Yes, on any Premium plan |
| Can you remove Wix branding? | No | Yes, on any Premium plan |
| Can you take client payments? | No | Core and above only; Light cannot accept payments |
| What happens when it ends? | Nothing, it stays a free site | The refund window closes and the plan continues for the period you paid for |
What does the Wix free plan actually let a coach do?
The free plan lets you build and publish a site, which is enough to judge the editor and the templates. It does not let you run a paying coaching practice, because online payments need Core or higher.
Here is what it includes, per Wix's plans page and support documents in October 2026: hosting, the drag-and-drop editor, no-code design features, templates and 200 marketing emails per month. Here is what it leaves out: a custom domain, removal of Wix branding and the ability to charge anyone online.
For a coach, that makes the free plan useful for three jobs:
- Trying the editor to see whether you enjoy building pages or would rather not touch them at all.
- Drafting your Home, About and Work With Me pages before you spend anything.
- Sending a small email list up to 200 sends a month. Campaigns and automated emails both count toward that number.
What it cannot show you is the client path that matters most: someone finds your page, books a session, pays and arrives prepared. Selling through Wix Bookings, Online Programs or Pricing Plans needs a Premium plan that accepts payments. For more ways to start without spending, see how to create a free website for life coaches and our guide to what is actually free in coaching software.

How does the 14-day money-back guarantee work?
You upgrade, you pay, and you have 14 days to decide. Wix's wording is "a 14-day money-back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the plan you choose," and its plans page ties it to the initial upgrade to a Premium plan, so do not count on it for a later plan change or a renewal.
Some details matter to a coach and were not spelled out on the pages we reviewed, so check them before you buy rather than assuming:
- How a refund treats the free domain voucher if you registered a domain with it.
- Whether refund terms differ for business email or other separately billed add-ons.
- Whether a refund changes anything about a site you have already published, and how quickly it reverts to a free site.
Ask Wix support in writing if any of these would change your decision, and keep the reply. Put a calendar reminder on day 12 so that the decision happens before the window closes rather than after.
A 14-day test plan for coaches
Fourteen days is enough if you test the things a website builder may not do for a coach, rather than admiring the design. Here is the order we would use:
- Before paying: build your main pages on the free plan, so that paid time is not spent on layouts.
- Day 1: upgrade to Core or above, since Light cannot take payments. Connect your domain.
- Days 2 and 3: set up a paid session in Wix Bookings and book yourself as a client. Check which emails arrive and how the payment appears.
- Days 4 and 5: create a session package or membership in the Pricing Plans app. See how a client buys it and uses it.
- Days 6 to 8: build one week of a real program in Online Programs. Work out how you would collect a daily check-in or track a habit, because neither is a listed feature.
- Days 9 and 10: send a test email campaign, set up one automated email and look at your monthly send balance.
- Days 11 and 12: try the journey on a phone with Spaces by Wix, the free member app, as if you were your own client.
- Day 12: count the other tools you would still need, price them, and decide.
What happens when the 14 days end?
The guarantee stops, and you keep the plan for the rest of the period you paid for. On yearly billing, that means your money is committed for the year, unless Wix's terms give you another route.
You can move between plans: Wix's support page says "You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time." It does not say on that page how money already paid is treated when you downgrade, and we did not capture renewal terms or renewal prices, so read the order summary and billing settings at checkout. Also note that the free domain voucher is for one year, so a domain renewal becomes a cost of its own in year two.
How much do Wix plans cost after the free plan?
Wix's paid plans run from $17 to $159 per month when billed annually, according to Wix's own blog as updated in October 2026, and that post says prices are correct as of August 2026. Prices and currency vary by location, and taxes are extra based on your billing address.
| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed annually, per month | Annual total | Storage | Collaborators | Takes payments? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | $0 | Not captured | Not captured | No |
| Light | Not confirmed by Wix; third-party guides report about $24 | $17 | $204 | 2 GB | 2 | No |
| Core | Not confirmed by Wix; third-party guides report about $36 | $29 | $348 | 50 GB | 5 | Yes |
| Business | Not confirmed by Wix; third-party guides report about $46, one lists $43 | $39 | $468 | 100 GB | 10 | Yes |
| Business Elite | Not confirmed by Wix; third-party guides report about $172 | $159 | $1,908 | Unlimited | 100 | Yes |
Annual totals are our calculation from the per-month figures. Wix Studio, the agency product, is a separate line and is not covered here. The plans page also notes that "Additional subscription periods are available," so check the checkout for the current monthly option in your currency.
What does each Wix plan add for a coach?
Core is the real starting line for a coach who sells online, because it is the lowest plan with payments and "Scheduling and services." Each plan above it adds capacity and a stronger marketing and eCommerce tier.
- Free: hosting, the editor, design features and templates. Wix branding stays on, and there is no custom domain.
- Light ($17 per month, billed annually): a custom domain with a free voucher for one year on yearly plans, multi-cloud hosting, the Light marketing suite and no Wix branding. It suits a brochure site that sends people elsewhere to pay.
- Core ($29 per month, billed annually): accepts payments and adds Basic eCommerce, Wix Bookings and the Basic marketing suite. For most solo coaches who sell sessions, this is the first plan that fits.
- Business ($39 per month, billed annually): Standard eCommerce, the Standard marketing suite, more storage and 10 collaborators. The step up from Core is $120 a year.
- Business Elite ($159 per month, billed annually): Advanced eCommerce, the Advanced marketing suite, an advanced developer platform, unlimited storage and 100 collaborators. The jump from Business is $1,440 a year, which is hard to justify on coaching needs alone.
Booking, programs, memberships and email are Wix apps you add to the site. Bookings handles appointments and classes with online payment. Pricing Plans sells memberships, session packages and subscriptions that can include bookings or programs. Online Programs runs step-by-step courses, programs and challenges. Members Area and Email Marketing round out the set. That is a fair amount of coaching-relevant capability for $29 a month on annual billing, and it is the main reason coaches pick Wix. Our full Wix review looks at those apps in more depth.

What fees does Wix charge on top of the plan?
No Wix platform commission on sales is listed on the plans page, which is a genuine point in its favour. You do pay processing on each transaction, and the rate depends on how the client pays.
| Charge | Amount as listed, October 2026 (US) | What it means for a coach |
|---|---|---|
| Wix platform commission | None listed | You keep the sale minus processing |
| Wix Payments, online card | 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction | A $200 session costs $6.10 to process |
| PayPal through Wix Payments | From 3.49% + $0.49 | The same $200 session costs at least $7.47 |
| Klarna and Affirm | 6% + $0.30 | The same $200 session costs $12.30 |
| In-person POS | 2.6% | Relevant if you run in-person sessions or events |
| Chargeback | $15 per chargeback | A clear cancellation and refund policy helps reduce these |
| Email Marketing beyond quota | Quota depends on plan; upgrade prices not captured | Campaigns and automated emails both count |
| Business email (Google Workspace) | Billed separately per mailbox, monthly or yearly; price not captured | A hello@ address is its own line item |
| Branded native member app | Offered separately; price not captured | Spaces by Wix is the no-extra-cost member app |
The $200 session is only an example to make the percentages concrete, not a suggested rate. Seats work differently from coaching platforms too: the plan sets a count of site collaborators (2, 5, 10 or 100), and we did not find a per-seat charge on the plans page.
What does a coach actually pay to stay on Wix?
The plan price is the small part. For most coaches, the total is the plan, plus processing on every sale, plus whatever you need for agreements and client follow-through. Here is an illustrative month at three practice sizes.
| Cost line | Solo: 5 clients | Growing: 15 clients | Established: 40 clients |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients | Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients | Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients |
| Wix plan used in this example | Core, $29 per month ($348 a year) | Business, $39 per month ($468 a year) | Business, $39 per month ($468 a year) |
| Example Wix Payments processing, at $200 per client per month by card | $30.50 a month on $1,000 | $91.50 a month on $3,000 | $244.00 a month on $8,000 |
| Wix plan plus example processing | $59.50 a month | $130.50 a month | $283.00 a month |
| Tools likely still needed beside Wix (not priced here) | E-signature for agreements; a habit and check-in app if you coach between sessions | The same, plus business email and possibly more email sends | The same, plus a way to give several coaches their own client view, and possibly a branded app |
All of the client numbers and the $200 figure are examples, so replace them with your own. Processing also applies on other platforms, including Stripe or Razorpay on Coachful, so compare the plan line and the tool list rather than treating processing as a Wix-only cost. Price the tools in the last row from their own pages in your currency, since we did not want to guess at them here.
Wix does not list habit tracking or structured client check-ins as features. You could approximate them with forms and program steps, or add third-party apps. Whether that matters depends on how you coach: for a session-only practice, it may not matter at all.
What are the hidden costs and gotchas?
The biggest gotcha is not a fee. Wix says sites can't be transferred to other platforms and blog posts can't be exported, so a year of content has a real switching cost.
- The headline price is an annual price. The $29 figure means $348 up front, plus tax. The refund window is your only easy exit.
- Light looks like the bargain, but it can't take payments. If you will sell online within the year, Light may just delay a move to Core. The difference is $144 a year.
- Official monthly prices are hard to find. We could not confirm them on an official Wix page. Third-party guides report that monthly billing costs noticeably more, for example about $36 for Core against $29.
- Your price may differ. Wix states that "Prices and currency vary by location. USD prices displayed for reference only."
- The domain voucher lasts one year. Budget for the renewal in year two.
- Email quotas include automations. A welcome sequence uses the same monthly balance as your newsletter.
- Payment method changes your margin. Offering Klarna or Affirm costs roughly double the card rate on the percentage side.
- The client experience spreads across parts. Bookings, programs, packages, members and email are separate apps on one site, which you assemble and maintain yourself.
- Export has limits. Contacts export to CSV, up to 50,000 at a time. CMS collections and store products export to CSV, and booking and staff reports export from the booking calendar. The site itself and blog posts stay behind.
If you are already on Wix and thinking of leaving, read how to move a coaching website off Kajabi, Wix or Squarespace before your renewal date.
Is Wix worth paying for, by coach type?
Wix is worth it when your main need is an attractive website that also books and sells sessions. It gets less attractive as more of your value happens between sessions. On Trustpilot, Wix scored 3.4 from 29,316 reviews when we checked in October 2026, a broad score across every type of Wix user rather than coaches specifically.
New coach testing an idea
Start on the free plan, and upgrade only when you have a person ready to pay. Wix is a reasonable first step if you like designing pages. Coaches who are still shaping their offer may also want to read our guide for new coaches, since the first decision is often the offer rather than the website.
One-to-one session coach
Core can be a good fit. Bookings, online payments, packages through Pricing Plans and a decent website sit under one plan. If you do not run programs or daily accountability and already enjoy the editor, you may have no reason to look further. If you want to compare just the scheduling side, see free booking software for coaches.
Program or group coach
This is where coaches start to outgrow it. Online Programs can run step-by-step courses and challenges, but habit tracking and check-ins are not listed features, and we did not find e-signed coaching agreements among the features we reviewed. If your promise depends on what clients do between calls, you will feel that gap every week.
Fitness, nutrition and health coach
We did not find workout builders, macro targets or progress-photo tools among the Wix features we reviewed, so expect to rely on other apps for delivery. Coaching is not treatment: keep to your scope, ask clients for clearance from a doctor when red flags appear, and keep clinical records in a clinical system, whichever platform you use. Coachful's Fitness & Nutrition pack covers the coaching side, and Coachful is not HIPAA-certified.
Small coaching team
Collaborator counts are generous on paper, with 5 on Core and 10 on Business. Those are site collaborators, though, which is not the same promise as giving each coach an individual client roster and availability. Check that against how your team actually works before you commit for a year.
Where do coaches outgrow Wix, and what does Coachful do differently?
Coaches outgrow Wix when the website stops being the main thing they need. Coachful starts from the client journey instead: one subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant, with one login for the coach and one branded app for the client. It is built for coaches who deliver programs and not only sessions, solo coaches growing into a small team, and coaches replacing 4 to 6 tools.

Here is how the jobs in this article map to it, all included in your Coachful membership:
- Booking: booking pages with availability rules, buffers and time-zone detection, two-way Google, Apple and Outlook calendar sync, plus built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet and Teams links.
- Payments: your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account, with one-time payments, subscriptions, payment plans, coupons and refunds. Coachful takes a 0% platform fee, so only processing applies.
- Agreements: coaching agreements with e-signature, sent before the first call and stored on the client record.
- Between-session delivery: multi-week programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, and progress bars.
- Website: a section-based builder with a blog, custom domain, SEO settings and 30 designed homepage templates, plus booking, application, lead-magnet and checkout funnels.
- Email: lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences with triggers, delays, branching and A/B splits.
- Client record: goals, check-ins, habits, notes, intake answers, payments, sessions and a status of thriving, active, quiet or at risk.
- Data exit: a full client data export as a ZIP, plus course export.

This short walkthrough shows how the website side works:

Current plans: (Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients). Plans are flat and monthly, lower plans cap the number of clients, Pro is unlimited, team plans add seats, and monthly plans cancel in one click.
Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. On every plan, you can go to Create and choose We'll build it for you, describe what you want and attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files. The Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours: a website, funnel, offer or sales page, program, course outline, email sequence and more. Nothing gets invented, so there are no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and any gaps are left for you to fill. One recent build was for a leadership coach with a Squarespace renewal days away, who got one clean homepage with a repeated "talk with me" button. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. Read more about the white-glove service.

Coachful also has real limits. It is not HIPAA-certified and not for clinical record-keeping or insurance billing. It has no PayPal and no permanent free plan. The client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding, not your own App Store account. It is not a general website builder for non-coaching sites and has no third-party plugins, so Wix is the better fit if you want a broad app market or a site that goes beyond coaching. To start, begin a free trial, then either build it yourself or hand the first build to the team. Clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding.

How does Wix compare with other options on trials and price?
Several rivals offer what Wix does not: a time-limited trial of the paid product without a card. Here is how the terms line up, as listed in October 2026. See our comparison hub for more tools, or Wix alternatives for coaches for a ranked list.
| Tool | Free plan | Trial and card rules | Lowest paid price | Platform fee on your sales | Best read as |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | No permanent free plan | A free trial | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients | 0% platform fee; Stripe or Razorpay processing only | One login for the whole coaching journey |
| Wix | Yes, with Wix branding and no custom domain; no card | No Premium trial; 14-day money-back guarantee on first upgrade | Light $17 per month billed annually; Core $29 is the first with payments | None listed; processing from 2.9% + $0.30 in the US | General website builder with coaching apps |
| Squarespace | No | 14 days, no card; trial sites cannot be exported | Basic $25 per month, or $19 billed annually | Basic 2% on store sales; 7%, 5%, 1% or 0% on digital content and memberships by plan | Design-led website builder; booking needs Acuity |
| Showit | No | 14 days, no card; no domain connection or WordPress blogging in the trial | $27 per month, or $22 billed annually | None; it does not process payments | Design tool for creatives; selling comes from embedded tools |
| WordPress.com | Yes, with a subdomain, ads, 1 GB and no plugins | No trial stated; refunds within 14 days on annual plans, 7 on monthly | Personal $9 per month, or $4 billed annually | 10% on Free, down to 0% on Commerce | Hosted WordPress; booking and courses come from plugins |
| Kajabi | Not listed | 14 days; card optional, with an authorization hold if entered | Basic $179 per month, or $143 billed annually | 0.5% to 2% extra if you use another processor, excluding PayPal | Courses, community, funnels and email |
| Systeme.io | Yes, no card; 2,000 contacts, 3 funnels and 1 course | Free plan instead of a trial | Startup $17 per month | 0%; Stripe or PayPal processing only | Low-cost marketing suite |

Squarespace is the closest like-for-like option, with a real no-card trial, and our Squarespace free trial guide and Squarespace vs Wix comparison cover the details. Kajabi costs far more but takes courses and funnels further, as Kajabi vs Wix explains. For simpler or more design-led sites, see Carrd vs Wix and Showit vs Wix, and Wix vs WordPress if you are weighing WordPress.

How can you save money on Wix?
The best saving is not paying until a paying client is close. After that, it comes down to choosing the right plan once and keeping fees down.
- Build on the free plan first. Every page you finish before upgrading means more of the 14 days goes to real testing.
- Skip Light if you plan to sell online soon. Going straight to Core avoids paying for a plan you will replace.
- Start at Core, not Business. You can upgrade at any time, and $120 a year stays in your pocket until you need the extra tier.
- Pay annually only after you have tested. Annual billing has the lowest listed per-month price, but only once you are confident in the plan.
- Use the free domain voucher, and note the renewal date for year two.
- Steer clients to card payment. Klarna and Affirm cost about twice the card percentage, so offer them only if they help you sell.
- Watch your email balance. Automated emails count, so trim sequences that nobody needs before paying for more sends.
- Export contacts regularly. A current CSV gives you options at renewal.
Tax treatment of software subscriptions and processing fees varies, so check with an accountant about what you can deduct where you live.
Frequently asked questions about the Wix free trial
Does Wix have a free trial?
No. Wix states, "We do not offer a free trial for Premium plans." It offers a free plan with no credit card required, plus a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first upgrade to a Premium plan.
Do I need a credit card to try Wix?
Not for the free plan, which Wix marks "No credit card required." You do need to pay to reach Premium features, because the money-back guarantee only starts after you buy a plan.
How long does the Wix free plan last?
The pages we reviewed show no end date, so it is a plan rather than a timed trial. Your site keeps Wix branding and has no custom domain for as long as you stay on it.
How long is the Wix refund window?
14 days, on the initial upgrade to a Premium plan. Plan to decide by day 12. Check the current terms for domains and add-ons before you buy, because we did not find those details on the pages we reviewed.
Can I take client payments on the free plan?
No. Online payments need Core or higher, and the Light plan cannot accept payments either. Core is $29 per month billed annually as listed in October 2026, or $348 for the year before tax.
What is the cheapest Wix plan for a coach?
Light is the cheapest paid plan at $17 per month billed annually, but it suits only a brochure site. For most coaches who book and sell online, Core at $29 per month billed annually is the practical minimum.
Can I move my Wix site if I leave?
Not directly. Wix says sites can't be transferred to other platforms and blog posts can't be exported. Contacts, CMS collections, store products and booking reports can be exported, so plan to rebuild the pages elsewhere and copy your posts by hand.
Is Wix good enough for a coaching business?
For a session-based practice that values its website, it can be. Coaches who deliver programs with daily habits and check-ins tend to need more, because those are not listed Wix features and would need forms, program steps or other apps.
Does Coachful have a free trial?
Yes, Coachful has a free trial, though it has no permanent free plan. You can see the current plans on the plans page and read how it fits your practice on the coaching software page.
What is Coachful's white-glove service?
It is a free build service on every plan. You describe a website, funnel, program, email sequence or similar project, attach your material, and the team builds it inside your account, usually within about 24 hours. It does not cover recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing.
