Paperbell vs Trainerize (2026): Pricing, Features, Verdict

In the paperbell vs trainerize decision, the two tools solve different problems. Paperbell runs the admin of a session-based coaching practice: booking, packages, payments, contracts and a simple website for one flat price. ABC Trainerize delivers workouts, habits and nutrition tracking to fitness clients through a mobile app, priced by how many clients you train. If you sell coaching calls, Paperbell fits better; if you program training, Trainerize does. If you need both, neither covers the full job on its own.
We make Coachful, a coaching platform that sits across both jobs, so we have a stake in this comparison. We have kept the Paperbell and Trainerize sections to what each vendor documents on its own pricing and help pages and what public reviewers report, with prices as listed in October 2026. Near the end you will find where Coachful beats both and, just as plainly, where it does not.
What is the short answer, by type of coach?
Pick by what you actually deliver between the first payment and the last session. The tool that matches your delivery model will save more time than any feature list.
- Life, career, mindset or business coach selling 1:1 packages: Paperbell is the closer fit of the two. It handles booking, packages, contracts and payments with no client cap.
- Personal trainer or online fitness coach programming workouts: Trainerize is the closer fit. Paperbell has no workout builder, exercise library or nutrition tracking.
- Health or wellness coach who needs sessions and daily habits: neither is a clean fit. Paperbell lacks habit and goal tracking; Trainerize puts scheduling and payments behind paid add-ons.
- Coach who wants courses, a community or email marketing: neither one. Paperbell lists online classes and downloads but no full course builder or community; Trainerize has no course builder, website or email marketing.
- Coach who wants one login for booking, payments, programs, habits, courses and a website: that is the gap Coachful was built for, covered in the third-option section below.
Our ranking criteria for this article, in one line: one login for the whole client journey, delivery between sessions, total monthly stack cost, and how much setup work lands on you (Coachful includes a free white-glove build). By those criteria Coachful leads, then the tool that matches your niche.
How do Paperbell and Trainerize compare side by side?
Paperbell is coaching admin with a website; Trainerize is a training and nutrition delivery app. The table below lines up what each vendor documents, with Coachful first as the reference row.
| Tool | Built for | Booking and payments | Between-session delivery | Website and marketing | Client app |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Coaches who deliver programs, solo to small team | Included: booking pages, calendar sync, Stripe or Razorpay, contracts with e-signature | Programs, habits, check-ins, goals, courses, community; Fitness & Nutrition pack | Website builder, funnels, email sequences, social planner | Coach's branding inside the Coachful app |
| Paperbell | Solo coaches selling sessions and packages | Included: scheduling, packages, Stripe or PayPal, contracts | Client portal, files, notes, forms; no habit or goal tracking (older profile) | Simple coaching website, email workflows | No native app; mobile browser (older profile) |
| ABC Trainerize | Personal trainers and fitness studios | Scheduling and Stripe payments are paid add-ons below Studio Plus | Workouts, habits, meal and macro tracking, messaging | No website, funnels or email marketing | Trainerize app; custom branded app on Pro for a one-time fee |
What Paperbell is
Paperbell is a single-plan admin tool for solo coaches. Its pricing page lists a coaching website, scheduling, payments and packages, a client portal, contracts, email workflows, forms, group coaching, video call integration, notes, digital downloads, online classes and custom branding, all included with no client limit.

What Trainerize is
ABC Trainerize is a personal-training app. Coaches build workouts and programs, set habits, track meals and macros, and message clients, who follow everything in the Trainerize mobile app. Plans scale by client seats, and several business features are sold as add-ons.

How much do Paperbell and Trainerize cost in 2026?
Paperbell costs $97 a month or $970 a year for everything, with unlimited clients. Trainerize starts free for one client and rises with client count and add-ons, so its real cost depends on how many clients you train and which add-ons you switch on.
| Tool | Entry price | 15 clients | Unlimited or large rosters | Free plan or trial | Platform fee on payments |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coachful | Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients | Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients | Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients | A free trial; no permanent free plan | 0%; Stripe or Razorpay processing only |
| Paperbell | $97/month, or $970/year (about $80.83/month) | $97/month (no client cap) | $97/month (unlimited clients) | "Try For Free" trial (7 days per its help center, July 2026); 30-day money-back guarantee | "No additional transaction fees"; Stripe or PayPal fees apply |
| ABC Trainerize | Basic free for 1 client; Grow $10/month for 2 clients; Pro $25/month for 5 clients | Pro 15 price not printed in October 2026 ($50/month in September 2026) | Studio Plus from $275/month for up to 500 clients | Free 1-client plan; 30-day trial with unlimited clients, no card | Not shown; payments need the $10/month Stripe add-on, Stripe fees apply |
Current Coachful plans for reference: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients.
Paperbell pricing in detail
Paperbell has one plan. As listed in October 2026 it is $97 a month, or $970 billed yearly, which the page shows against $1,164 with a "2 Mo Free!" label. Clients, sessions, files, packages and traffic are unlimited, and the page says there are "no upsells or hidden add-ons". Paperbell charges no transaction fee of its own; Stripe or PayPal charge their usual processing fees.

The trial length is not printed on the pricing page. Paperbell's help center described a 7-day trial in July 2026, during which the public site stays offline and client messages and SMS are switched off, so you can build but not fully test the client side. A 30-day money-back guarantee covers the first payment.
Trainerize pricing in detail
Trainerize prices by client seats. As listed in October 2026:
- Basic: free for 1 client, with the mobile app, workouts, basic messaging and habit coaching.
- Grow: $10 a month ($9 a month billed yearly) for 2 clients, adding the AI Workout Builder, custom programs, meal and macro tracking, a Trainerize.me profile and wearable integrations.
- Pro: from $25 a month ($23 billed yearly) for 5 clients, adding custom exercise videos, welcome emails, consultation forms, advanced messaging and challenges. Pro tiers continue at 15, 30, 50, 75, 100 and 200 clients, but those prices were no longer printed in October 2026. In September 2026 the page listed Pro 15 at $50, Pro 30 at $79 and Pro 50 at $135 a month.
- Studio Plus: from $275 a month for up to 500 clients and 5+ locations (the plan card shows $248 on yearly billing), with all add-ons, group video calls, prospect booking, an API and a studio-level branded app.

The page contradicts itself in places: plan cards show the yearly figures while the FAQ quotes the monthly ones, so check which billing toggle is selected before you compare. The bigger cost factor is the add-on list:
- Advanced Nutrition Coaching: $20 a month on Grow, Pro 5 and Pro 15; $45 a month on Pro 30 to 200.
- Business (scheduling, referrals, selling products, premium content): $25 a month.
- Video Coaching: $10 a month for 50 hours of video calls and 100 hours of streaming.
- Stripe Integrated Payments: $10 a month.
- Custom Branded App on Pro: $169 one-time setup.
- FitMetrics: from $6 per client.
What a realistic month looks like (example)
Here is an illustrative example, not a quote. Take an online fitness coach with 15 clients who wants to take bookings, collect payments in the app and coach nutrition properly on Trainerize. Using the September 2026 Pro 15 price, that is $50 for the plan, $25 for Business, $10 for Stripe payments and $20 for Advanced Nutrition: about $105 a month before Stripe fees, and still without a website, courses or email marketing.
The same coach on Paperbell would pay $97 a month but would get no workout builder, exercise library or macro tracking at all, so they would likely keep a training app alongside it. Running both tools side by side is where many hybrid coaches end up, which is the cost problem our third option section addresses. For the full Trainerize breakdown, see our Trainerize pricing guide.
How do booking and scheduling compare?
Paperbell includes scheduling on its single plan; Trainerize sells scheduling inside its $25-a-month Business add-on below Studio Plus. If booking calls is central to your practice, Paperbell is the more natural tool.
Paperbell's scheduling ties into its packages, so a client who buys a five-session package books against that package from their portal. It also lists video call integration on the same plan. Trainerize's scheduling, once you add the Business add-on, is aimed at trainers booking sessions and appointments around a training program; Studio Plus adds prospect booking and group video calls, and the Video Coaching add-on covers calls on lower plans.
Coachful includes booking pages with availability rules, buffers, minimum notice and time-zone detection, two-way Google, Apple and Outlook calendar sync, built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet or Teams links, paid sessions, session credits and intake questions at booking. Reminders go by email, plus SMS 24 hours before and WhatsApp one hour before once messaging is enabled. More on that in our scheduling software page.

How do payments, packages and contracts compare?
Paperbell is stronger here: packages, payments and contracts are its core, with no platform fee. Trainerize needs the Stripe Integrated Payments add-on for in-app payments and does not document contracts or e-signatures on its pricing page.
Paperbell lets you sell sessions and packages, take payment through Stripe or PayPal (per our earlier profile), and send contracts, all from the same plan. Having purchase, contract and booking in one tool is the main reason life and business coaches shortlist it. PayPal support is also a plus for coaches whose clients prefer it.
Trainerize's payment setup is narrower. With the $10-a-month Stripe add-on you can sell training packages and subscriptions in the app; the Business add-on adds selling products and premium content. Consultation forms arrive on Pro. A signed coaching agreement would usually live in a separate tool.
Coachful runs payments through the coach's own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account with one-time payments, subscriptions, payment plans, order bumps, coupons, refunds, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and Stripe Tax, plus an invoice per transaction. Since August 2026 Coachful charges a 0% platform fee. Coaching agreements with e-signature go out before the first call and are stored on the client record (see coaching contracts). One honest gap: Coachful has no PayPal, so if your clients insist on PayPal, Paperbell has the edge.

How do workouts, nutrition and habit tracking compare?
Trainerize wins this section clearly over Paperbell. Paperbell has no workout builder, nutrition tracking, habit tracking or goal tracking, while Trainerize was built around exactly those.
On Trainerize, the free Basic plan already includes workouts and habit coaching. Grow adds the AI Workout Builder, custom programs, meal and macro tracking and integrations with apps and wearables. Pro adds custom exercise videos and challenges. The Advanced Nutrition add-on goes further for coaches who build meal plans. Trainerize's wearable and app integrations are a real advantage for clients who already track on a watch.
Paperbell's between-session tools are files, notes, forms and email workflows. That suits a coach whose work happens in the session and who sends worksheets afterwards. It does not suit a coach who needs a client to log a workout, tick off a daily habit or report macros.
Coachful sits between the two for most coaches and overlaps with Trainerize for fitness coaches. Every plan includes multi-week programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks. The Fitness & Nutrition pack adds a workout builder with an illustrated exercise library (supersets, circuits, AMRAP, EMOM, intervals, tempo), workout logging with set history and PRs, calorie and macro targets, meal plans, recipes, food lookup with barcode scanning, private progress photos and measurements, weekly check-ins and private form-check videos with timestamped comments. Where Coachful falls short of Trainerize: no Garmin, Fitbit, Whoop or Oura sync, Apple Health sync is not publicly available, and there are no stock exercise videos; coaches attach their own demo videos.

A scope note for health and fitness coaches on any of these tools: coaching is not medical or dietetic treatment. If a client reports chest pain, dizziness during exercise, an injury that is not improving, signs of disordered eating, pregnancy complications or medication questions, pause the program and refer them to a doctor or registered dietitian. Coachful is not HIPAA-certified, so clinical records belong in a clinical system.
How do courses, groups and community compare?
Paperbell covers light group coaching and online classes; Trainerize covers group challenges and, on Studio Plus, group video calls. Neither offers a full course builder with modules and drip, or a community feed.
Paperbell's pricing page now lists group coaching, online classes and digital downloads among its included features. Older reviews and our earlier profile note no full course platform or community, so coaches running cohorts often pair it with a separate community tool. Our guide to Paperbell alternatives with group coaching covers that pairing in depth.
Trainerize groups revolve around training: challenges on Pro and group video calls on Studio Plus or via the Video Coaching add-on. There is no course builder.
Coachful includes courses with modules, lessons, drip and completion tracking, plus downloads, videos, books, events and bundles, all delivered into the client's branded home and app. A community feed, group chat, direct messages and video events sit alongside, and joining a program creates a cohort group automatically. More than 40 program templates and 48 course templates with quizzes are ready to adapt.

How do website, marketing and lead capture compare?
Paperbell includes a simple coaching website and email workflows; Trainerize includes a Trainerize.me profile from Grow and no website, funnels or email marketing. For a coach who needs to be found online, Paperbell has the head start.
Paperbell's website is built for a solo coach presenting their packages, with custom branding included. It is not a full site builder with blogs and funnels, which is why we keep a separate guide to Paperbell alternatives with a website.
Trainerize's marketing presence is the Trainerize.me profile plus, on Studio Plus, referral links and prospect booking. Most trainers using it run their website and email list elsewhere.
Coachful includes a section-based website builder with a blog, custom domain, SEO settings and 30 designed homepage templates, booking, application, lead-magnet and checkout funnels with pixel and UTM tracking, a link-in-bio page that sells, and email lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences with branching and A/B splits. A social planner schedules posts to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads and YouTube, and Instagram automations can send a booking link or lead magnet by DM when someone comments a keyword. See the coach website builder page.

What is the client experience like on each?
On Trainerize the client lives in a mobile app built for training; on Paperbell the client uses a web portal for bookings, files and payments. Which feels better depends on whether your clients need daily prompts or occasional admin.
A Trainerize client opens the app to see today's workout, log sets, record meals, tick habits and message the coach. That daily rhythm is what keeps fitness clients engaged, and it is the product's strength. Public reviewers on Trustpilot give Trainerize 3.1 from 100 reviews as seen on October 25, 2026. A custom branded app is available on Pro for a $169 setup fee. One caution from our earlier profile: Trainerize's client data export leaves out messages, photos and attachments, which matters if you ever move (see how to migrate from Trainerize).
A Paperbell client receives a link, buys a package, signs the contract and books sessions in the browser. There is no native app per our earlier profile, so everything runs in the mobile browser. That is light and low-friction for clients who only need to book and pay, and thin for clients who need structure between calls. Paperbell holds 3.5 on Trustpilot from 14 reviews as seen on October 25, 2026, a small sample.
Coachful's clients get one branded home and app (your branding inside the Coachful app) with their program, today's tasks and habits, check-ins, sessions, documents, courses and community in one place. The coach sees each client's goals, check-ins, notes, payments and sessions on one record, with a status of thriving, active, quiet or at risk. Here is a short walkthrough of program delivery in Coachful:

Which should you pick: Paperbell or Trainerize?
Pick Paperbell if your coaching happens in sessions and you want booking, packages, contracts and payments under one flat price. Pick Trainerize if your coaching happens in workouts and meals and your clients need an app they open every day.
| If you are... | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Coachful: a coach who sells sessions and delivers programs, habits or courses between them | Coachful | One login for booking, payments, contracts, programs, courses, community and website; Fitness & Nutrition pack for training clients |
| A solo life, career or business coach selling 1:1 packages | Paperbell | Flat price, unlimited clients, packages and contracts at checkout, PayPal option |
| A personal trainer with a handful of online clients | Trainerize | Free or low-cost entry plans, workout builder, habit and nutrition tracking |
| A trainer whose clients rely on wearables | Trainerize | App and wearable integrations from Grow |
| A multi-location gym or studio | Trainerize Studio Plus | 500+ clients, locations, studio-level branded app and API |
| A health coach mixing calls with daily habits | Coachful | Paperbell lacks habit tracking; Trainerize charges extra for scheduling and payments |
Pick Paperbell if...
- Your offer is sessions and packages, and between-session work is a worksheet or a follow-up email.
- You want a predictable monthly price that does not grow as you add clients.
- Your clients pay by PayPal.
- You are fine without workouts, habits, goals, courses or a native app.
Pick Trainerize if...
- You program workouts and want an exercise library and logging.
- You start small and want a free plan for your first client.
- Your clients sync wearables and expect that data in the coaching app.
- You are comfortable paying for add-ons as you need scheduling, payments or advanced nutrition.

Is there a third option that beats both?
For coaches who sell sessions and also deliver programs between them, yes: Coachful covers Paperbell's admin and much of Trainerize's delivery in one login. For a pure session seller who needs PayPal, or a trainer whose clients live on wearables, it does not beat the specialist.

What Coachful is and who it is for
Coachful is a coaching platform built in Tallinn, Estonia. One subscription covers booking, payments, contracts, program delivery with habits and check-ins, courses, a community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant, with one login for the coach and one branded app for the client. It is built for coaches who deliver programs rather than only sessions, solo coaches growing into a small team, and coaches replacing four to six tools. Coachful holds 4.5 on Trustpilot from 21 reviews.
When Coachful beats both
- You sell calls and deliver between them. Booking, contracts and Stripe payments sit next to multi-week programs, habits, check-ins and goals, so you are not paying for Paperbell plus a delivery app.
- You coach fitness and also need business tools. The Fitness & Nutrition pack covers workouts, logging, macros and form checks, while scheduling, payments, a website and email are included rather than sold as add-ons.
- You want courses and a community. Neither Paperbell nor Trainerize has a full course builder or community feed.
- You want help thinking. Michelle, the built-in AI assistant, works from your live practice data: it drafts programs and emails, summarizes recorded sessions and briefs you before each call. Questions and planning are included; confirmed builds use AI credits. An optional AI Coach lets selected clients chat with an AI version of you between sessions.
- You are working toward an ICF credential. Coachful counts coaching hours and clients against ACC, PCC and MCC thresholds and exports a client coaching log (ICF hour tracking).
When Coachful does not beat them
- PayPal: Coachful takes payments through Stripe or Razorpay only. Paperbell supports PayPal.
- Wearables and stock videos: no Garmin, Fitbit, Whoop or Oura sync, no public Apple Health sync, and no stock exercise videos. Trainerize is stronger for data-heavy training clients.
- Free tier: there is no permanent free plan. Trainerize's free plan for one client is cheaper for a trainer just starting.
- Your own App Store listing: the client app carries your branding inside the Coachful app, not under your own developer account.
- Clinical work: Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and offers no BAA, so it is not for clinical records or insurance billing.
- Large studios: no multi-location front-desk tools; Trainerize Studio Plus targets that market.
What Coachful costs
Coachful uses flat monthly plans. Lower plans cap the number of clients, Pro is unlimited, team plans add coach seats, and monthly plans cancel in one click. Entry: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients. For 15 clients: Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients. Unlimited clients: Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients. All features are included in your Coachful membership, and the platform fee on client payments is 0%.
Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. On every plan, you can open Create, choose "We'll build it for you", and describe what you want: a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline, email sequence, form, lead quiz or automation. Attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files such as your logo, photos, brand guide or existing copy, and the Coachful team builds it inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. Nothing is invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. It does not include recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. One recent example: a menopause and midlife health coach starting from nothing got a five-page site in sage and cream with every button leading to a free 20-minute consultation. Another: a leadership coach with a Squarespace renewal days away got one clean homepage with a repeated "talk with me" button. Read more about the free white-glove service.

How to start
- Start a free trial and pick the niche closest to yours (for example fitness coaches or health coaches).
- Connect Stripe or Razorpay and your calendar.
- Request a white-glove build of your website, funnel or first program.
- Let the team import your clients, programs and content during onboarding.
- Invite clients to their branded home and app.
Moving from Paperbell specifically? Our Coachful vs Paperbell comparison goes deeper.
How hard is it to switch between these tools?
Switching away from either is mostly a data question: what you can export and how much you need to rebuild. Plan the move between client renewals and keep the old tool running for one billing cycle.
From Paperbell, our earlier profile found client lists and history in the Clients area, but a documented CSV export was not verified, so check with Paperbell support before you cancel. Packages, contracts and the website need rebuilding in the new tool. From Trainerize, the client export leaves out messages, photos and attachments per our earlier profile, so download progress photos and key conversations manually and rebuild workout templates.
Moving into Coachful, clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding, and the white-glove build can recreate your website or sales page. If you later leave, Coachful exports the full client data as a ZIP (roster, notes, check-ins, goals, habits, sessions and form responses), plus a course export.
Frequently asked questions
Is Paperbell or Trainerize better for a life coach?
Paperbell. It is built around sessions, packages, contracts and payments, which is how most life coaches sell. Trainerize is designed for training and nutrition and puts scheduling and payments behind add-ons. A life coach who also wants habits and programs between calls should look at Coachful.
Is Paperbell or Trainerize better for a personal trainer?
Trainerize. It includes a workout builder, exercise logging, habit coaching and, from Grow, meal and macro tracking and wearable integrations. Paperbell has no workout or nutrition features at all.
How much does Paperbell cost compared with Trainerize?
As listed in October 2026, Paperbell is $97 a month or $970 a year with unlimited clients. Trainerize is free for one client, $10 a month for two and from $25 a month for five, with add-ons for scheduling ($25), payments ($10), video ($10) and advanced nutrition ($20 or $45). A trainer with 15 clients who adds several add-ons can pass Paperbell's price.
Does either tool take a cut of client payments?
Paperbell states "no additional transaction fees"; Stripe or PayPal fees still apply. Trainerize does not show a platform fee on its pricing page, but in-app payments need the $10-a-month Stripe add-on and Stripe fees apply. Coachful charges a 0% platform fee; only Stripe or Razorpay processing applies.
Does Paperbell have a mobile app?
Not a native one, according to our earlier profile; clients use Paperbell in a mobile browser. Trainerize has a native client app and a custom branded app option on Pro for a one-time setup fee.
Can I run courses or a community on Paperbell or Trainerize?
Only partly. Paperbell lists online classes, digital downloads and group coaching but no full course builder or community feed. Trainerize has challenges and group features on higher tiers, but no course builder. Coachful includes courses with drip and completion tracking plus a community feed and cohort groups.
What is Coachful's free white-glove service?
On every plan, the Coachful team builds what you describe, such as a website, funnel, program, course outline or email sequence, inside your own account, usually within about 24 hours. You can attach up to 8 links and 10 files for reference. It does not cover video recording, logo design, ads or ongoing marketing.
Can Coachful replace Trainerize for fitness coaching?
For many online fitness and nutrition coaches, yes: the Fitness & Nutrition pack covers workouts, logging with PRs, macros, meal plans, progress photos and form-check videos. It does not sync Garmin, Fitbit, Whoop or Oura, has no public Apple Health sync and has no stock exercise videos, so wearable-heavy trainers may prefer Trainerize.
Which tool is better for a health coach?
Neither Paperbell nor Trainerize covers a typical health coach fully: Paperbell lacks habits and goals, and Trainerize charges extra for booking and payments. Coachful combines sessions, habits, check-ins and nutrition targets. Whatever you choose, coaching is not medical treatment, and clients with symptoms or medication questions should be referred to a doctor.
Can I try them before paying?
Yes. Trainerize offers a 30-day trial with unlimited clients and no card, then drops to the free one-client plan. Paperbell offers a trial (7 days per its help center in July 2026) and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Coachful offers a free trial.
